Winery kittens. They need a little more people time. Really skittish.

The staff are really personable and responsive. I'll be honest. The wine was not great. It was also a little pricey ($24 for 4 3 oz pours). However, the food is great and you should go just for the gorgeous patio and scenery. And the incredibly friendly wine cat. Share some of your nummies with her and she's your friend for life.

Beautiful setting indoor and out! Decent Midwest wines: Ruby Rosè, Traminette, Chardonel, Seyval, Syrah we the flight we selected. Wine is an acquired taste, Midwest wines are good, but not great. We also enjoyed the Italian hot sand wispy and small charcuterie board. Both were really good!

Quant winery on small lake in the country. They have a decent sized event space. A number of wines to choose from plus a full bar. Looks like it would be a good place to check out in the warmer months. They have a full menu of food, but we just had one wine flight, $20, plus a deposit on the wine glasses.

Copied from a friend... DO NOT GET MARRIED HERE!! Well I was going to try to keep this off social media, but Hidden Lake Winery didn't give me much choice because they will not contact me back. Back in October of 2021, Alex and I went to look at Hidden Lake Winery as a place to get married. We loved the way it looked out there. We toured house that is located out there and the spot where we ultimately ended up getting married. It looked great. I chose to use their bridal suite to get ready in, out of convenience for my bridesmaids and myself. When we originally looked at the home where the bridal suite is located, the wedding coordinator, at the time, told us that we would be able to get ready there, if it were to rain the wedding would be inside the home. We could pay to have food from the winery brought in, but no outside food. There was also a "honey moon" suite inside the house that was for rent if we so choose to stay out there for the night. The parking lot would be cleaned up as it was full of weeds. Sounds great right? Fast forward to October 12th, 2024. My bridesmaids and myself show up at the house, to get ready at, at 7AM. This is the time I paid for the house to be opened at so there was enough time for us to get ready before the 1:30PM ceremony. My amazing makeup artist showed up shortly before us to have a strange man outside in his pajamas letting dogs out of the house. As she was setting up, this man (who is Steve the property manager) proceeded to use the restroom in the bridal suite as she was setting up. So the room in the house that was told to Alex and myself is a honeymoon suite actually had the property manager LIVING inside of it. There was a ring camera placed right outside the bridal suite that we could hear go off in that room each time we walked past it. This man, Steve, was casually walking in and out of the house and that room as all of us were in the house getting ready. When we entered this house to get ready in, it wasn't short of a DISGUSTING nightmare. Looking around the bridal suite, there was so much dog hair on the carpet. Literally every inch of it was covered in thick white dog hair. The couch in the bridal suite was covered in dog hair, thankfully my bridesmaid had a blanket to lay down so my daughter had somewhere to sit. There was dried dog feces on the carpet. There was a table that had mouse feces all over it. The bathroom is the bridal suite was absolutely disgusting. There was dried food left on the floor of the bridal suite along with old Bobby pins, crumbs, and dead bugs. We walk out to the kitchen, where they placed the food I paid for, to more dog feces in the kitchen. There was puppy pads full of pee in the trash can sitting next to the food. The kitchen looked like someone cooked a 8 course meal and didn't clean up, ever. The sink had mold in it. There again, were dead bugs everywhere. As we were getting ready, all we heard for the first hour of the morning were dogs barking. When my maid of honor contacted the wedding coordinator to try to make things right, we were told to contact Steve. Steve didn't do a thing about the issue besides vacuum the hallway leading to where our food was in the kitchen and plug in an air freshener because the house smelt HORRIBLE. Not one person checked on us throughout the day to make sure everything was okay, going good. This is just a very short snippet of everything that was in this house. I was told by multiple people that day compensation would be made, yet I have reached out multiple times and no one has answered. So I am bringing it to social media in hopes no one has to go through what I did on my wedding day and I would NEVER recommend this place to get married at. Here are some pictures for reference. Sorry they are gross and we cleaned up most of the dog feces in the bridal suite before I could get a picture.

Love Hidden Lake Winery!!! The owners are awesome and deliver on good wine and a laid back atmosphere. This was our fourth time visiting and we will continue to be regulars, especially on nice weather days. We love the Black Vino, Off Duty, and Old Hippie and the flatbreads are amazing. Definitely worth a stop, or two, or three!

It's always so unfortunate when places with such great potential like this one just refuse to listen to constructive criticism from anyone and let their business and "business values" just go totally down due to their "opinions" instead of taking advice from others to heart and try making positive changes. Instead, it's nothing but fighting with every single people who offers a suggestion or help, and nothing positive has happened since it all started going downhill. Wishful thinking this changes one day.

I really enjoyed my time at this winery. They have great outdoor space overlooking a small lake. There was ample seating and suitable spacing. The facilities seemed clean. The service was good. We ordered inside and our food was brought out to us in the outdoor seating area. They could use a bit more help but the staff seem to take everything in stride. We ordered lunch and a glass of wine. I had a mix of wine and Ski. If you are not familiar with Ski, it's a local soft drink and a rare treat for me. I couldn't resist wine mixed with Ski. Who knew!!?? I would be happy to return to this nice, little winery!

Great little country winery in Illinois that is a great venue or small outside weddings. They offer a great area for staging the wedding in front of a beautiful waterfall cascading over a stone wall. The waterfall is man made, so once the service has begun the water can be turned off so the guest may hear the service more clearly. The beauty of natural nature and the man made waterfall provide endless opportunities for beautiful photographs. They also offer a banquet center that is close enough to the waterfall that guest can stroll down a gravel road to the reception. If the bridal couple wants, they also have private cabins and one of them in a Honeymoon cabin with a heart shaped whirlpool tub. If you are looking for a unique venue for a small outdoor wedding - check out Hidden Lake.

Unorganized mess as we waited for 15 plus minutes to get noticed and this rude crowd of heifers just sat in the way of letting us in the counter area as well. The world doesn't revolve around you just because you're having a "ladies night".... Hmm, meanwhile when we got through to have a place to for in ourselves, the lady that helped us was awesome and have some good suggestions on which type of wine I might like since I'm not the real wine expert. Thanks for that!

Neither was present when a group of six of us dined here yesterday. Let's be clear: Mascoutah Steak House is a "steakhouse" that only serves one actual cut of steak (a ribeye--and no, Salisbury steak is not a steak). We already had low expectations. The food itself was mediocre at best. The ribeyes ordered by our group came out looking grey with absolutely zero sear. I ordered the Cali salad; it looked fine, but it had a bizarre, sour flavor that was completely unidentifiable. While the food was disappointing, it isn't why I'm writing this review. The real issue was the glass of red wine I ordered. As I finished the glass, I discovered a huge fly sitting at the very bottom. I understand things happen, and I wasn't even going to make a scene. When our server took the glass back to the bar, I watched her. She looked into the glass with visible disgust. We made eye contact, and I mouthed to her, "Yeah, I drank out of that." Instead of apologizing, addressing the situation, or simply removing the drink from the tab, she avoided our table entirely. When the bill arrived, the wine was still fully charged. When I went to the bar to calmly explain the situation to another employee, I was met with total indifference. I was essentially told it wasn't their problem, though they generously offered a insulting 10% discount on the glass. This isn't about a $6 glass of wine. It's about basic human decency and food safety. I shouldn't have to argue to get a bug-infused drink taken off my bill. If you value decent food, basic hygiene, and staff that actually cares about their customers, skip this place.

The dinning room wasn't very full but when they seated us they took us to what used to be a patio. Now it's enclosed and there is a bar a stage and plenty of seating. My problem was the fans that were blowing made it difficult to have a conversation with my wife across the table. I told the server it was almost too noisy and was having a hard time hearing him talk. He said he'd talk louder. That didn't really fix the problem. Not real sure why we were seated in this area because the dinning room had plenty of space. We had a little trouble communicating our order because of the noise. As I stated a couple times to our server. I communicated I have trouble hearing in areas like this and he just kept talking louder. Anyway we finally got our food ordered and went for a salad in the next room. My wife even commented on the empty tables and asked my why I thought they put us in that big room. Idk? So we get our salad and it was good. Kretzers had a decent salad bar. One of the reasons we like the place. I ordered a 12oz ribeye rare with a baked potato. Wife got chicken strips with gravy and mashed potatoes and gravy. When the food arrived everything looked good and the server said some things that I have no idea what. Even the wife didn't know. I go to open the butter for my pita and it's not butter. It's an oil whip. I do not eat fake butter. It's harmful. To find out they have no butter in the place. So I tell my server of the situation and looks at me like he has no idea what to do. Turns and walks away. So I eat my steak and stare at the baked potato. I am a recent cancer survivor and have no ability to make saliva. So I needed the butter to make the potato edible. Or even gravy or something. I told the server but I don't think he heard me correctly or didn't know what to do. It was so loud with the stupid fans. So while I do recommend Kretzers and like their steaks and crab legs and salad bar. I don't recommend their new addition to dine in. And if you want real butter bring your own. I was a little disappointed with our experience this time around.

One of the oddest cheeseburgers I can recall ever ordering. While I admire the chef's /…read morerestaurant's enthusiasm to do something exotic, here, it didn't work. It's about execution. The meat was quite odd, both in consistency and taste. If I had to guess, they took reject pieces from their steaks and ground them up, perhaps several days ago? You couldn't cut through it with a fork. It had a strange taste to it. It wasn't at a warm or hot temperature and tasted stale. The onions that they added were delicious, but way too minuscule in size and bulk to have any taste impact. The bun was ordinary, despite their raving and reliance on its quality, and it being a Kaiser roll. The burger lacked customary garnish. Why I order cheeseburgers at high end establishments? In part? I like the quality thick beefsteak tomato slice and crisp, fresh lettuce. Here? No garnish at all, just a patty with a little cheese and onion. If the patty was fresh black angus and juicy, without the weird consistency and taste present here, and had they lavished it with mountains of similar onion and more cheese? --The risky and odd approach to making a cheeseburger might have proven successful. For this cheese to suffice, it, too, would have needed to be more pungent in taste, and abundant in presence. You could barely taste it. The mashed potatoes were quite good but way too salty. I literally crunched down on some salt crystals. That's when you know there's inordinate salt. Weird service and rock hard chairs made this bizarre stop on the way to St. Louis/ Denver more painful to savor. What irritates me was that I had to order a Caesar salad just to obtain roughage. And when you take the $30 for the salad and burger combined into account? That's a lot for such an odd experience. In summary, anyone who watches and implements the Gordon Ramsay Fword cheeseburger recipe on YouTube will end up with a vastly superior cheeseburger. In this town, while I am visiting only, from what I've read and seen in reviews, I'd recommend instead the frosty mug for basic food along these lines. A $24 burger better be pretty darned special to attract this sort of tab. This was just weird, not great. Sorry, no photos.

Its nt the decor or the location that gt 5ive stars. Its the great steaks and attentive friendly service. Very local vibe, people seemed to know each other and the staff was very chatty. Maybe a little too much because we ahd to keep flagging our waitress down who seemed a bit scattered. But still she was very nice. Other staff members checked on us several times so we were never lacting in anything. The stake I ordered (medium rare) which I always order came out very rare. If it was a little more done I would not have said anything. But someone from the kitchen stopped by the table and asked if I was ahppy with the tempature. I was nice about it and said, well not really, this seems very rare to me, not medium rare. WIthout complain he quickly took the stake on a side dish leaving the rest of myt meal to enjoy. Teo minutes laters a perfectly medium rare stake came out with a bit of char on the outside, hot and pink while still juicy inside. And it was a very good, very thick streak. Honestly I had wished I'd ordered a large cut. ANd isn't a great steak your looking for when going to a steakhouse?
