After a VERY long day (that included a car accident and 2+hr drive... with a 5 year old in tow) we were desperate for good dinner and chance to relax. The place was nice, almost where we weren't sure if there was a dress code (there isn't). The front-end woman who greeted us was very friendly when we walked in. Didn't feel judged by our casual attire. We were vastly under dressed, but didn't feel judged. We splurged and each ordered the 8oz. filet. Our son got the cheeseburger. We were all very happy with our choices. The steak was delicious (although a tad under medium, it was so tender it was not worth the mention) The drinks also delicious (I got the French 25 and husband a vodka martini). The only downfalls were not having much for kids. The menu was shallow, I couldn't get grilled chicken only breaded and no apple juice or milk. We made do with the cheeseburger and water, but not many toddlers drink lemonade or cranberry juice. Totally our option of course. But finding healthy meals for kids is so hard. Grilled chicken with a veg or potato would be lovely. ... And our server didn't seem to have much of a personality. It was very transactional... I tried to be lighthearted and funny and got no reply back. Even getting a smile seemed like a challenge. I'd definitely come back (now that our expectations have been set). Came in with a group on a Saturday night. Seated promptly, order was in quick, and then we waited. On the order, we had two people that wanted salad with chicken. That is not an option. Have to order their chicken entree and sub the sides for salad. Ends up being about $42! Saw many dishes eventually. Kids food could have come out right away, but they insisted on plating everyone together. Waited about 90 minutes for food. Things like fries were warm but entrees broadly all cold. Had the orecchiette pasta. Could have been good but was cold. Burger next to me cold. Tried someone's chicken parm and it was bland and mediocre. Two of our party got the wrong food. Service was below average and not well paced. Several empty tables on a Saturday and no wait when we left so hard to think the kitchen was overwhelmed. Have been to this spot twice before and was average. Too many other places around to want to go back. Really should be 2.5 stars read more

We went here with some friends for a lovely brunch on a sunny Sunday morning. We had excellent service and mediocre food. We shared a couple of appetizers; Wild Mushroom Flatbread and Calamari Fritti. The flatbread was quite nice but the calamari were quite rubbery and the marinara sauce served with it was boring. The rubbery calamari paired nicely with the overcooked shrimp hanging off my forgettable Bloody Mary. On to the entrées.. Hubby had Cinnamon Toast Crunch French Toast which was way overcooked, while I ordered a favorite, Eggs Benedict made with a toasted everything bagel, smoked salmon, and dilled hollandaise sauce. This was ok but the dried dill and dried onions were off-putting. The fried potatoes accompanied by house made ketchup were delicious. I would give it 10 stars if I could, on the basis of the ambiance, the owner, the manager, the bar and THE FOOD! Our server was a bit on the "blandish" side, particularly with a restaurant that charges and serves Boston Warf quality food and beverages. She wasn't bad, just eh. But the FOOD. OMG THE FOOD. Pricy. Not for faint of wallet. Drinks are exquisitely prepared, and the bar sparkles with the glitter of lights, decor, bottles and the bartending staff. It is definitely a spot to sip, linger and hang out with your drinking buddy. The food is "italian inspired" - not classic Italian. Not Calitalian. Not Italoamericanotalian... it's classic dishes restated in a very elegant and simple sophisticated way. The tuna tartare with house made potato chips was MEMORABLE as was the beef carpaccio. We ordered the veal marsala which was delectable (3 mini pieces but hey, I won't complain) came with what I consider their star on a plate - a creamy and craveable polenta made with mascarpone... silky, smooth, delicately flavorful - masterfully made. Seriously, hub and I were elated to finally arrive here. Another one of my local favorites for special date night, special celebrations or simply because my polenta craving needs to be satisfied! Went for the very first time last August and still reminisce about it. Such a luscious interior. Our cocktails were perfectly constructed and our food was so memorable. The West End is one of my new favorite spots on the Cape. As someone who grew up here, I pride myself on knowing all of the best spots, however I have been sleeping on this one for far too long. We came as a bridal party on Sunday for Jazz Brunch and it was the perfect experience. Josh (I think) was a fantastic server and made us all feel like friends rather than customers. He gave great suggestions and made our whole meal fun. Drinks; great. I got their espresso martini which I am officially voting one of the best on Cape. The Bloody Mary was also pretty good, but that has more to do with the beautiful shrimp and bacon. Food; delish. Get the steak tartare. Incredible. The polenta fries were a little bland, but unique and we were glad we tried them. Wouldn't order them next time though. Burger was great. I got the Pork Milanese which was good, but also needed salt or extra sauce. I thoroughly enjoyed the creamed spinach on the dish! Even with the minuscule things that I could nitpick- this was a fantastic experience and I would do it all over again. Can't wait to come back on our next Cape trip! We were truly impressed by this place. We had oysters and the focaccia bread for starters. Had the duck and skirt steak for main courses. And the lava cake for dessert. OMG. Each course and dish was cooked to perfection and was delicious. And the drinks were amazing. The restaurant itself was beautiful and had a homey atmosphere to it. And, finally, the service. Another FABULOUS meal at The West End! The new menu has lots of interesting options to entice any palette. There was such a wide array of options including seafood, steaks and even vegan choices. The cocktails are always to die for and the restaurant has a great vibe. We started with the BLT deviled eggs (Horseradish Yolk, Roma Tomato, Candied Bacon, Micro Arugula). The horseradish yolk and candied bacon were truly incredible, it was like a party in my mouth! It was the perfect balance of sweet and savory. A very fun spin on a traditional deviled egg. For our entrees, we had the chipotle braised short rib and the wagyu burger. The braised short rib came on a bed of Street Corn with Charred Shishito Peppers and Shoestring Fries. This was possibly the BEST SHORT RIB I have ever eaten! The meat was so perfectly tender that I didn't even need to use a knife. I substituted the fries with the truffle tots bc they are so delicious but next time I'll try it with the fries how the chef intended the dish to be served. The wagyu burger was also amazing. It had Candied Bacon, Crystalized Cheddar and House Special Sauce and was served between a deliciously sweet Pretzel Bun. The burger came with Cajun Shoestring Fries which were perfectly crispy. Again, the balance of flavors was just beyond. It was cooked to a true medium with a bit of pink in the middle. The service is always out of the park and the ambience even better. We sat at the bar and the bartenders (Chris & Peter) were so attentive and familiar with the menu. They had helpful recommendations and answers to my many questions. I am always hoping for this restaurant to be better than it is as it is so close to my home. The food is just not very interesting and lacks flavor. The main courses ($28-60) come with absolutely nothing else on the plate. Do you really need to spend $12 to get mashed potatoes with your Chicken under a brick($34)??? This place has gone downhill. I went to Easter Sunday Buffet Brunch here. I have been here before and the food is good and we had a nice sunny spot. Our server was attentive, and was really pleasant. My problems with the place were I expected more for $75.00 a person. No soup, no leg of lamb, no chocolate mousse, no shrimp cocktail unless you wanted to order it from the raw bar for extra. Secondly, they added a 20 percent gratuity to our check? It was 3 of us and we always tip the server well. We were left wondering if we were supposed to tip her normally or not at all now. My third problem was the dessert table. They put it on the end of the bar. There were almost no offerings. Fruit salad, 2 Banana bread like loaves sliced up, small pastries, strawberry vanilla shortcake in a shot glass and apple pie and cherry pie. Located at the very end of Main St, Hyannis at the rear of the roundabout is The West End restaurant. Our first night on Cape Cod and our experience at this restaurant was great. This is a family run business and the staff were super accommodating (allowing us to dine earlier than our reservation time) It's a beautiful space in here, open airy, with big windows but it is also intimate if that makes sense. We couldn't decide on what to order because the menu was so enticing so we went for a bunch of appetizers. It was the perfect thing to do. We got to sample a lot of different t dishes and they were all outstanding. We got a beautiful bottle of wine also. It's expensive but as we discovered every single place on Cape Cod is expensive so it is what it is. We got to vacation here and enjoy the beautiful people, the freshest of seafood and that's all that matters. Well done. West End it truly was a great start to our vacation. read more

We visited the West End for a pre symphony meal. Arrived at 5:40 which should have been plenty of time to make the 7:30 pm start. Initial service was wonderful And our waiter Josh, was very engaging and gave us recommendations. We started with the calamari. When it arrived it was over breaded and greasy. The side dips were bland. We couldn't eat it. My main was the salmon which was overcooked and burned. The eggplant was also fried, bland and uninspired. For a $34 entree the bare minimum they should be prepared well and tasty. The entree service took over an hour. We had to ask for them to find our entrees, ask for the table to be cleared, ask for the check. We did mention we had a 7:30 start. By the time we left, we had 5 minutes to make the show which we missed the start therefore we could not be seated until intermission. Very disappointed in this experience. I may try it again to give them another chance though. The atmosphere is very nice and I feel like they can do better. read more

Live Jazz Combo at Sunday Brunch today was the 'cherry on the sundae' for a delightful dining experience. Our waiter was very good, charming and professional. The West End Bloody Mary's were delicious and the garnishes, started off our meal on the right foot. The entries - delicious - and the breakfast potatoes to die for. My wife and I have been here several times and usually the service is decent tonight was not . Everything was ok up until dessert where it became a horrible experience. We ordered two keoke coffees and a caramel biscotti to share, biscotti came out right away but no coffees . We assumed it would be out shortly but not the case clearly the waitress forgot. 15 minutes went by as we are not starting the dessert without the coffee. The waitress is now avoiding us . Finally I got her attention where she tells us they needed to brew fresh coffee 20 minutes later. Clearly she forgot the coffee but didn't want to admit. I didn't touch the dessert or coffee(coffee was cold)as now we're late for the show at the melody tent .200 dollar bill I did not dispute and still tipped well , I would've appreciated an acknowledgment of the mistake but was insulted by the ignoring of this . Awful service. The funny thing is the waitress said to perhaps avoid lava cake as it is made to order and we were trying to make the show . I just wish she had been honest instead of ignoring what happened. read more

They compensated with more oysters but the server never said a word. I asked and he said they were out. Ok. This is early to be out. I asked for medium rare .. and very expensive .. New York strip. Wife got the filet. Son got a burger. Both of them lucked out and food as ordered. My 60 dollar strip was medium well. I honestly didn't bother bringing it up, as i felt bad for the server and wanted to get the hell out at this point. I think the place is trying hard, but good help is impossible to find.
