The menu pricing wants a 5 star.. but I have to go 3. We were seated at 7:10. Ordered small seafood app tower.. was supposed to include littlnecks. They compensated with more oysters but the server never said a word. I asked and he said they were out. Ok. This is early to be out. We then place orders and 10 minutes later he comes back and tells my son they are out of the tuna he ordered.. ack. We are not here at 9pm.. we are here at 7pm. I asked for medium rare .. and very expensive .. New York strip. Wife got the filet. Son got a burger. Both of them lucked out and food as ordered. My 60 dollar strip was medium well. I honestly didn't bother bringing it up, as i felt bad for the server and wanted to get the hell out at this point. I think the place is trying hard, but good help is impossible to find. We received a gift certificate to The West End and we're looking forward to it since friends had enjoyed it a year ago. Sadly we were underwhelmed. The problems started before we even arrived. My dinner companion has swallowing difficulties and can only eat certain things. The menu on their website listed several items she would be able to eat. To be safe, when I made reservations online, from their website, I queried in the comments section whether the items would be available. I never heard back. This could be because the reservations are actually via OpenTable, but if that's the case they should set expectations on their site that comments are ignored. When we arrived, we discovered the menu was nothing like the one on the website, and there was nothing my friend could eat. I explained the problem to our waiter and asked if the chef could make her some plain pasta with some tomatoes or veggies, all of which were part of other menu items, so obviously available. When he returned, he told us the chef said "no." I was so shocked I almost walked out. For a restaurant at this level to be unable or unwilling to accommodate a simple request for someone with dietary issues was mind boggling. My disappointed companion eventually ordered a couple of side dishes in the hopes she could pick at them. We each ordered a Caesar salad and I ordered a lobster roll. The Caesar salads were brought out instantly so it was obvious they were not only premade but had been sitting with dressing on them. Again not what one would expect at a restaurant in this price range. They were drowning in dressing and excessively garlicky, but mostly edible. The next course was less so. The lobster roll was terrible. The meat was so tough and rubbery I could barely chew it. It also had clearly been cooked and premade as it was a bit fishy tasting. The potato salad was odd. It also was drowning in dressing that had a strange flavor. The only item that had been freshly cooked was my companion's polenta fries. They were the best tasting item we received. Our meal: 2 Caesar salads, a lobster roll, and 2 side dishes came to over $90 - an absurd amount of money for what we received. On the plus side, the Service was attentive and the staff friendly, which is the only reason I gave 2 stars. Overall a disappointment. Save your money and go somewhere less pretentious and overpriced. read more

Great atmosphere, food and service. I had a bunch of apps and the special which was duck. My favorite app was the oysters, super fresh and delicious. The duck was cooked perfectly and I enjoyed it very much. Great drink list as well. I had a refreshing watermelon margarita that hit the spot on a hot day. Side dishes are tasty but nothing imaginative: rice, mashed potatoes, roasted veggies. Food is tasty but did not blow my mind. Cesar salad was great! Really good wine selection. I loved the Pinot Noir from Burgundy and the Rose. Cocktails were an OK, too much ice not too much flavor. Desert was ok, tried the chocolate and cream brûlée. Skip it unless you must have it! Best cocktails on Cape Cod. Their bar makes excellent drinks, from starting the night with a cosmo to ending it with an espresso martini, you can't go wrong. All of their food is fresh. In particular I love their salmon, it's always delicious. I've been here for dinner, but also for private parties (rehearsal dinner and birthday) and I would definitely host a private party there again. It's such a beautiful setting and they take care of all the details, so it runs smoothly. It is a huge restaurant with different areas, comfy booths and space to spread out, so it feels very safe and comfortable in the times of social distancing. This restaurant deserves 10++ stars! Feeling slightly guilty that we have not tried since it changed ownership 3 years ago. The atmosphere is awesome, service top notch and the food is worth every single calorie. Started with the Cuban Brussel sprouts which were absolutely delicious and the homemade tater tot's- amazing. For entrées: Beef bolognese on delicious pasta. Salmon with crispy rice and bok choy. Of course we had to try desert and went for the strawberry purée on a beautiful biscuit. We have been wanting to try this place out for a while and finally booked it for Valentine's day. The ambiance was nice and sadly that is all that is nice about this place. I ordered shrimp cocktail for a starter and obviously I like my shrimp cold but not frozen. We both ordered meals and there is no bread or rolls served beforehand. I got the fish and my date got the filet. She ordered medium well and it came out very rare and the potatoes were cold. My fish was pretty good but not worth what I paid. Our server was nice and did what was required but not much more as far as filling our waters and checking in. Glad we tried it out but definitely not going back. read more

The best meal I had while I was on vacation in cape cod. I was looking at an old menu online, they warned me there was one when I got there floating around on Google. They were right the most delicious sounding martini the whole reason I wanted to eat here...no longer exists. Not to worry the bartender whipped me up some fabulous butterscotch martini. I was a bit worried I was a fish out of water with the fancy menu. I'm a burger and fried food kind of girl. I had the truffle tater tots. So grown up! And hellaciously tasty! Then I got the blackened salmon. Mmm mmm mmm. I've never ha purple potatoes. They were mighty fine. The salmon I requested done medium. Very nice. Then for dessert I had the mousse with peach sauce and rosemary crumble. Oh baby talk dirty to me! I was very happy and made the right decision to eat here! Since moving to the area a few months ago I am constantly searching for good brunch and breakfast spots. I was scrolling through Instagram one day and The West End popped up on my feed and I knew I HAD to go! They do take reservations throughout the day which made things a whole lot easier. The parking lot is easily accessible and the location is a good size. I was elated when we walked into the restaurant and we were greeted by the sweet sounds of live music. A perfect accompaniment to a hearty brunch. The restaurant is decorated beautifully and the tables are spaced out enough to feel comfortable and safe. The food was phenomenal. We started with the Apple donuts. They were warm and gooey when they came out. We also had the special which was a Greek yogurt with fresh fruit and white chia seeds. The tart yogurt, with the sweet fruit was the ultimate combination. I ordered the mushroom Benedict and my boyfriend got the hash and eggs. Both dishes were 10/10! Also they serve up a deliciously creamy cappuccino, so good I ended up having 2...hehe. This was an unexpected beautiful brunch experience. I am confused by some of the negative reviews. I live locally and eat here fairly regularly. I have never had a bad meal and the service is always great. The prices are in line with other fine dining restaurants. Drinks and food are high quality. Beautiful bar and nice dining area. I also like that there is a comfortable distance between tables and you aren't on top of other diners. Went with a party of six last night and everyone was happy with their food choices. Salmon, eggplant, bolognese - all delicious. Great apps and desserts too. Highly recommend. One of the better restaurants on Cape Cod. read more

A great new addition to Cape Cod dining, West End says it sources almost all of its food from the Cape -- in some cases from the garden behind the restaurant -- including some great local beers and wines. The friendly and attentive staff was eager to please on opening weekend and already had the routine down -- the only minor flaw was a late bread delivery, but the yums garlic & herb butter made up for it. The skate cake was delish, great texture and cooked just right. Some oysters (Wellfleets this night) were excellent and presented without much Ado - fine by me. The truffle tater tots are more like excellent little potato pillows, fluffy on the inside -- the last few at the bottom of the vessel were bathing in oil though. The grilled veggie dinner was fresh and tasty (veggie burger and mushroom gnocchi being other main vegetarian options). And the seared rare tuna was a great cut (even for our 9:15 Sunday reservation) uniquely prepared with a gazpacho accompaniment and olive tapenade. Very nice. Portions were good size and the dining room itself was lovely and lively, with classic Golden era music loud enough to raise the energy. We will be back! read more

The new owners of the old Paddock have revived the good times of classic speakeasy and glorified it into a culinary marvel! Start out by being greeted by a dashingly handsome valet, allowing you to enter the doors without a long walk - great for those high heels! Enter the doors and gaze upon brilliance and elegance at every corner. The interior has been embellished in every aspect, from the glamorous chandeliers to the polished steel tables. The flatware is escorted throughout the dining room on their own trays, adding prestige to the already beautifully ambient atmosphere. The menu provides great options for everyone. Whether you're like my dad and want the steak or chicken, or more like me and are dying for that decadent octopus or skate wing - they've got it you covered! I must mention - the clam chowder rhody style - was amazing! It is not the classic cape cod chowder that you get at every corner in town, but a mouthwatering appetizer like no other! We have had a wonderful experience every time !! Jazz brunch is a hit. And service is excellent.

Kind of perfect. A restaurant or a server never knows where customers are coming from, but it seemed like our server and this restaurant might be different. We were there last brunch reservation on the day after Christmas, but still we felt like the most important part of their day. What they didn't know was that our guests are not only in the food and wine industry but also, yesterday (on Christmas of all days) they unexpectedly lost their sweet dog. We needed a diversion, a nice meal, and time together. We got that plus more. The Bloody Mary must have some of The Local Juice cold pressed juice because it was a next level. The food was flawless (keep in mind we were the last party of the day)--standouts were the short rib hash and the kimchee hot dog. The whole experience was wonderful. We arrived kind of empty and left so full in all the best ways. read more

We ate here six months ago and had the most amazing experience. Went here again this week with friends and it was the most disappointing restaurant experience I can remember. The restaurant is beautiful and the staff is terrific... But the food - which is the main reason I go out to eat - was absolutely unacceptable! Very disappointed. we were there on the same nite as Pete at 6 pm they were out of tuna then...? go figure. ordered 4 cocktails they served 3 we waited a long while before they brought the other, and I think they forgot to put the liquor in the drink. we asked for appetizers and got a small dish of olives. no bread... so we ordered focaccia.... there were 4 of us at the table and they served 3 small slices of toasted focaccia no small plates to put our food. main course was good salmon and beef. no desert menu. We had to ask for everything. They didn't seem overly busy but everything was slow. staff was pleasant but not well trained to wait tables. My absolute favorite place in Hyannis. Great service, beautiful bar, dining room and function room. Class establishment for sure! The food is delicious. The stuffed quahog is one the best I've ever had. The mussels are big and plump and come in a buttery white wine sauce. Love the tuna tartare but I gotta say... it's a bit unhealthy due to the aioli that's mixed in. Tastes awesome though! The pork buns are also a yummy app with crunchy pickled veggies to contrast the pork belly. Every item I've tried has been a winner so far! read more

I ordered the carpaccio without the truffle and it came with the truffle so had to send it back and wait another 10 minutes..my focaccia came..not even warm...the service was mediocre. Our group went there prior to going to see a show at the Melody Tent. We were there early and had called to see if we needed a reservation - we were told no. When we arrived we were treated ridiculously rude. Treated as if we did not belong. Told we could not be seated, appetizers only and just generally made to feel totally unwelcome. I would stay away ... However we went down the road to Anejo - they rolled out the red carpet - treated us great - great food and service AND I am craving the Chicken El Choppo salad the next day. West End's loss is our gain. Guess things happen for a reason. read more

Exceptional. From the hostess to the decor to our server, I was thoroughly impressed. We started with spritzers, the thyme was tart and lemony. The lavender was a touch of sweet. The herbed butter is full of flavor with fresh bread. We had the prix fixe Cape Cod restaurant week menu. I had the crispy pork steam buns, full of flavor with a sweet Asian sauce, also the truffle tots we amazing. Crispy with 2 dipping sauces and lots of flavor. The fried chicken was cooked to perfection with delicious creamy macaroni and cheese. The porcini gnocchi was also delicious in a cream sauce with spinach & red peppers. Dessert was equally delicious. White chocolate panna cotta & chocolate mousse were both creamy with a whipped cream lightly sweetened. Perfect end to a delicious dinner. Had a business function with private room. The only reason why there are 3 stars is that the ambiance and service was good. Food... it so much. Caesar salad was absolutely terrible. No Caesar dressing. I usually rate a restaurant by the quality of their Caesar(not sure why, but this test has seem to come out pretty accurate each time. Great Caesar, great food). Not worth the money at all. Got the bolognese and it was extremely bland. For the money you pay, I expect to be blown away. Not even close. The third star is for the polenta fries. Those weren't bad. Very disappointed. I just hope my customers weren't as disappointed as I am. read more

We had a party of eight dining at 5:15 before an eight o'clock show at the Melody Tent next door. Everyone had a great meal and we made our seats with ten minutes to spare. (We were a party of four a week earlier dining at 6:00 for a 7:30 show and were 20 minutes late) Happy that we gave this new addition a second chance. The menu is diverse; Duck Breast, Tuna steak, fried chicken, gnocchi and spare ribs dotted our table all done well and to the satisfaction of our group which ranged in age from 14 to 87. The service was smart and attentive. The food thoughtfully prepared and presented. The redesigned and decorated dining room and bar have an updated feel with a nod to the era when the original restaurant was founded. The step down lounge off the bar is well thought out at perfect for those who want to nosh and dash to the show next door. The experience may be shaky for the first few weeks in any restaurant opening but these operators will get it together so give them a second look, like we did. read more

What a disappointment First they showed us a table in the bar area which was right in the path if the servers. So we asked to be moved to another table and there were plenty of them. The table size was maybe 15"x15". If that much. We had a reservation and asked for the warmest place in the restaurant. It was freezing there. We sit down and we here noise from another room and asked if we could sit there. Ok they moved us there. St least the table for two was a little bigger. Staff was friendly, people were eating with their coats on. We asked if they could make it warmer. They complied maybe? Food was okay. Veggie burger was not cooked enough. Veggies were very crunchy. It looked all smashed up truffle tots good, Brussels sprouts super good. Beets good but very expensive for portion size. Beer that they offered was not available when ordered. What a disappointment! Limited wine selection and a limited menu. Especially limited when one of the 5 main courses on the menu wasn't available. Long wait to be served. My wife had the lemon statler chicken with lemon caper sauce. It's was dry (no lemon caper sauce only a larger caper plopped on top) and the size of a chicken wing. It came with maybe 10 green beans and dry, hard rice like it was scrapped from the side of a pan or it wasn't cooked completely! I had the filet. The steak was ok nothing special. The whipped potatoes were soooo salty and of course it came with 8-10 green beans. The waitress asked us how dinner was, and we explained. When we got the bill she gave us a $10 dollar gift card to apply the next time. We left the gift card at the table..... there won't be a next time! read more

Love, love, love! We had such an amazing time celebrating our after-mini-mony dinner with our small group of family at The West End. The room (outdoor tent) was beautifully decorated, perfectly spaced out to ensure social distancing, and still had a wonderfully warm and intimate feeling. We didn't need the heaters (it was October), though it was great to have them there if necessary. The food was absolutely delicious -- both the short ribs and cod were perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the apps (hello bang bang shrimp!) were outstanding. The drinks were beyond and speak for themselves -- everyone enjoyed every sip of the unique libations. And last but certainly not least, the staff. Meaghann was an absolute dream to work with -- so helpful, responsive, and made the logistics of planning (even a small gathering) a breeze. Her staff was so attentive and friendly, truly an extension of Meaghann's bubbly personality. They all made the whole experience a night we'll never forget.
