Food was decent but service was pretty slow / inattentive. Outdoor seating wasn't the most comfortable and didn't really even get a great view of the water. Overall okay but not the best.

We went here over Memorial Day weekend. We were greeted by the host and shown to our table immediately. Our server Andrew was very accommodating. My daughter and I shared the crab cake salad and they gave us two different dressings since our taste isn't the same and we shared the lobster quesadillas. Both were my favorite meals of our whole trip. We sat outside and enjoyed the scenery looking out over the water and docks.

View from the dining room and outdoor seating area. Across from an active harbor.

Patricia was our server, excellent Service. We picked this restaurant for its location and reviews on the clam chowder. Both good. Nice view. Good food.

6 of us came here for a late lunch as we liked the name and were told it had good food. We called and spoke with Scott, the manager, to make reservations and had to change them a couple times due to bad traffic getting there, and he was super accommodating. I had a turkey wrap with no bacon and it was really good and my wife had a Side Caesar salad that she really enjoyed. Our 4 friends also enjoyed their meals. We are glad we went there and should we be in Hyannis again just might come back

We sat outside and had a beautiful view of the harbor, such a great setting! The only downside was that one of us ended up sitting directly in the sun and started to feel the heat pretty quickly, so keep that in mind if you go on a sunny day. We started with a cup of chowder and now I see why it's award-winning: creamy, flavorful, and absolutely a must-try. The giant lobster roll was good, not great. It was fresh and generously portioned, but the flavor fell a little flat for me. If you're not already a lobster roll lover, you could probably skip this one. The fried seafood platter was huge, and our favorites were the shrimp and clams. If you love a variety of fried seafood, this is definitely the dish to get!

This was our first experience at The Black Cat Tavern and if we were staying in the area longer, we would definitely return. We were a party of 6. We sat in the heated patio which was fine for us (2 adults and 4 teenagers). Our server Alex was great! He made us feel at home right from the beginning. He explained the specials and answered our questions we had on the menu items. His descriptions of the food were so vivid, we wanted to try everything. We settled on a variety of items from the clam chowder to fish tacos. I personally started with clam chowder then the blackened swordfish which was excelllent. We never felt rushed and Alex checked on us a few times to make sure we were enjoying our food. I honestly can't recommend this restaurant enough.

Busy place atmosphere very nice. Waitress was amazing and very attentive. Clam chowder was so yummy. But the watermelon feta salad omg so good.. fisherman's platter was so good lightly battered which is a plus shoe string fries brought back childhood memories. A little pricey but it's vacation!

Tried Black Cat Tavern in Hyannis while exploring Cape Cod. It's right near the port, so it's a bit touristy, but still worth checking out. We had the Hyport Burger, baked scallops, and a bowl of clam chowder. All were really good the chowder especially. Creamy and flavorful, definitely one of the better ones I've had on this trip. The burger was juicy and came with all the right toppings. The scallops were baked just right, not dry at all. Portions here are huge. We didn't finish everything except for the chowder that was gone fast. The place has a chill, nautical vibe and there was a live singer the night we went, which added to the mood. Our server, Katie, was super nice and helpful. Prices are on the higher side, but expected for the area. Would I come back? Maybe but I'd also want to try the other restaurants nearby next time. Rating: 3/5 Check out their other dishes too, I saw stuff like lobster roll, fried clams, and baked stuffed shrimp on the menu that looked pretty good

We really enjoyed our visit to The Black Cat Tavern. The location is great, right on the water with a lovely atmosphere. The lobster roll was massive and absolutely delicious. We also ordered the seafood tower, and everything on it was fresh and tasty, except for the tuna, which wasn't our favorite. Service was decent, our waitress was a bit scattered at times, but nothing that took away from the overall experience. The only real downside was the small table we were given. With the amount of food we ordered, it felt cramped and a bit awkward.

My family and I dined here during our recent Cape Cod trip. The location was within walking distance from our hotel. We were seated on the front deck, but still had views of the water across the street. I ordered the Fried Cod Melt with French fries, and the Banana Cream Colada. The food was good - the filet of fish was big and crispy, while the colada was refreshing and wasn't too strong. If we stay in Hyannis again we will be back!

My friend and I came here with no reservation for dinner and we were seated right away. We didn't realize we were in the harbor shack which is separate from the full restaurant haha. It was hard to tell from the way we walked in from the parking lot on the side, we just walked up the first set of stairs we saw with a hostess stand and thought that was the full restaurant. The tavern part is next door but we enjoyed the shack! We had delicious mudslides and I really liked my sandwich! I was grateful they had gluten free bread!

    Baked Stuffed Shrimp
    Susan H.

We were disappointed. The restaurant was very loud. Our server was not friendly. The food was OK. I thought the chowder was very good and served in a coffee cup which at first was confusing but when I thought of "a cup of chowder" very cute. I ordered steak tips, which were a little tough and I wasn't expecting teriyaki flavor. We also had baked stuffed shrimp. The stuffing was spicy and the shrimp were a little bit bland. The host was very nice and quite funny.

My first glass of vinho verde wine was served at room temperature (the second was fine), and the side plate I was given was crusted with dried food residue. I also watched an employee behind the bar wipe her nose with her hand and then continue slicing citrus barehanded. The chicken empanadas were good but not particularly special. We also had one of the small pizzas, which was the best thing of the night, crispy and flavorful (with a little char at the edges, which we like). The decor is a little bananas (different shades of green between the walls, the napkins, the barstools, and the banquettes; five kinds of lighting fixtures; lots of sound and lighting items with exposed, hasty-looking wiring). The bathroom door doesn't really close and lock properly. And the restaurant is really loud, even half full. The writing on the menu, about family members and special recipes, tells me that there's pride here and real care about making a good restaurant. However, without the attention to detail (particularly cleanliness and hygiene!), that's kind of moot. Three stars instead of two here because the pizza was good and the staff obviously care about customers.

Tap City Grille was a surprise for me!…read more I tried it out around 7 years ago and wasn't the biggest fan. It was a good place to go out with friends and have some wings, but I wasn't impressed whatsoever. My family and I were on vacation looking for a place to go that's different from Seafood, so we went back to Tap City to give it another shot. It was incredible. It was possibly one of my favorite restaurants I've tried during my vacation. We got a lot of different dishes, so I was able to try a bunch of them. I myself ordered a "build your own" Pizza. I got Hot Italian Sausage and Pepperoni. It was a very good size for the amount of money you spend. It was delicious. The sauce was amazing, the cheese blend was good and the toppings were both fresh! The crust was a bit soggy however. It was fine, it just was a bit floppy. I tried the Brussel Sprout appetizer and it may have been the best thing on the menu. They were addictive. I could've just ordered those and have been satisfied. I tried the Chicken Tenders and they were alright, but you could tell they are frozen and not homemade. The Fries were good, but just normal fries you'd expect at a bar and grille. Although I personally didn't try it, one of the guests I was with was in love with the Hamburger. This place is a must stop on your vacation if you're looking for a break from Seafood. It has a nice atmosphere and has been packed every time I've walked by. So why am I only giving this a four? Our waitress was not good. She had zero emotion and looked like she wanted to be anywhere other than at her job. I waited 20 minutes to get a refill on my drink because she never checked on us until we finished our food. The service at Tap City Grille should be improved.

My devoted "mug club" friends that used to meet weekly at Cape Cod Beer introduced me to this fantastic new spot in their rotation. Wow, am I impressed! I met the brewmaster / owner, Brian, friendly and he sure knows his stuff. The quality he is producing in this tiny location is exceptional. I started with the Norm Ale, like normal ...get it? I love the play on names they come up with like Buttah Beer. The Norm Ale is pale but not lacking color, it's so caramel creamy, biscuit smooth. Just delicious, no bitter bite to this beauty. And I really appreciate the lack of fizziness too, that's so unlike American beer. I followed that with the Riley Red. Think Killarney Irish red ale and that's what this delivers. An excellent example of a red with colored hues, it's tasting brighter, light malty, and rich. And because it's October I rounded off by tasting the Oaktober Fest. (Oak Bay October fest) my buddy Wayne loves this one, especially in his fancy German stein they so nicely agreed to fill for him. This seasonal ale is tasty modestly spiced medium malt season, not too hoppy, it's beautiful. The Brit/ Irish style that Brian is producing, less carbonated & fizzy, which I really liked about the ales. You don't go home with a bloated stomach. Lucky for us it is Oktoberfest and they were cooking up beer-soaked bratwurst with sauerkraut and German pretzel hot baked out of the toaster oven $11. A perfect accompaniment to the ales. I genuinely feel these are the best beers being made on Cape Cod, and beyond. Get over to Oak Bay Brewery and try for yourself what I'm convinced of! Cheers Note: Parking is best in the back of the building and come on to main street from alley beside Tumi restaurant.
