This may be our favorite spot, have been there twice this week. Sat on the porch first time and under tent second time. Must have a frozen mudslide- yum! Start with their delicious chowder (my husband says best on the Cape) or the hot crab dip. Their swordfish is a generous portion and fantastic, we both had various versions, his blackened, mine not. The table next door had a huge portion of salmon- next time!

The Chartroom's bathroom deserves its own episode of Hoarders. First stop: the trash can overflowing like it's auditioning for Old Faithful, tissues cascading onto the floor while a wicker lid sits helplessly on top for what reason? I don't know. Then, you pull back the shower curtain - yes, there's a shower only to find it doubling as a storage locker for cardboard boxes and mystery electronics. Because nothing says "fine dining" like using the restroom next to old office equipment. The finishing touch? A fake palm tree tipped over on the floor, as if it just gave up on life after witnessing the whole scene. The vibe is very much "warehouse with a dive bar dream," and that dream clearly ended in bankruptcy. The food was just as tragic. My entrée tasted like someone Googled "how to cook" and then immediately closed the tab. Flavor was nowhere to be found, probably hiding in the shower with the electronics. And the service? Let's just say our server treated every request like we were asking them to donate a kidney. Water refills were slower than a sloth in traffic, and the enthusiasm level hovered somewhere between DMV clerk and hostage negotiator. To add, the hostess was walking around barefoot! Overall, the Chartroom's is less of a restaurant and more of an immersive survival challenge.

This is a beautiful location - and there is dog-friendly outdoor seating. Service is excellent. The food was good. Highly recommend mussels. My Avacado salad had too much dressing. I would order dressing on the side next time. My mom had the cheeseburger with cheddar cheese. She really enjoyed it. Very relaxing location. Wish there were a few more food options.

Must try Crab Cake Banh Mi. This house made crab cakes with spicy mayo, chilis, cilantro, cucumber and carrots are spot on for flavors. The buttered baguette is lightly toasted and married these ingredients to perfection. Catie, our server, is friendly and very professional. You have a choice to dine in or outside. On this great afternoon, outside dining was the perfect decision to enjoy the many boats docked at Crosby Boatyard. I highly recommend Chart Room for your palate.

The…read morebluefish pate itself was good, but rather on the salty side, so serving it with salt and vinegar chips made it pretty much inedibly salty (this was taken off the bill when the bartender noticed we didn't eat more than one bite each). My first glass of vinho verde wine was served at room temperature (the second was fine), and the side plate I was given was crusted with dried food residue. I also watched an employee behind the bar wipe her nose with her hand and then continue slicing citrus barehanded. The chicken empanadas were good but not particularly special. We also had one of the small pizzas, which was the best thing of the night, crispy and flavorful (with a little char at the edges, which we like). The decor is a little bananas (different shades of green between the walls, the napkins, the barstools, and the banquettes; five kinds of lighting fixtures; lots of sound and lighting items with exposed, hasty-looking wiring). The bathroom door doesn't really close and lock properly. And the restaurant is really loud, even half full. The writing on the menu, about family members and special recipes, tells me that there's pride here and real care about making a good restaurant. However, without the attention to detail (particularly cleanliness and hygiene!), that's kind of moot. Three stars instead of two here because the pizza was good and the staff obviously care about customers.

**Extremely Disappointing Birthday Experience**…read more I have been to emBargo before and have generally enjoyed my experiences here, which is why I chose this restaurant to celebrate my birthday weekend. Unfortunately, this visit was a complete disappointment, especially considering our bill was approximately $225. One of the biggest issues was the lack of attentiveness from our waiter. At one point, I needed a fork to eat my meal. One of my guests was heading to the restroom and specifically told our waiter that I needed a fork. I waited approximately five minutes, giving him more than enough time to bring one over. Instead, he continued having a conversation with another employee while I sat at the table unable to properly eat my meal. Eventually, I had to get up from my own birthday dinner and find a fork myself. Only after I got up did someone attempt to assist me with the utensil. Then, at approximately 9:35 PM, our waiter brought the bill to the table even though no one had asked for the check. I found this especially off-putting because this was clearly a birthday celebration, and we had not indicated that we were finished. We weren't even given the opportunity to order dessert or continue celebrating. The waiter had also mentioned that his shift didn't end until around 11 PM, making me even more confused as to why we were essentially being rushed out more than an hour beforehand. When I paid the approximately $225 bill, I left a $15 tip and wrote a note explaining why. I normally tip more than 20%, particularly when I receive good service, but I did not believe the service that evening justified that amount. What happened afterward was what truly ruined the experience. After seeing the tip and my note, the waiter came back to our table and confronted us about it. He raised his voice and argued that we should not have given him the tip we gave him because he believed he had provided good service. When I attempted to explain the problems we experienced, he put his hand up toward me, said that he didn't want to hear it, and walked away. That was completely inappropriate and unprofessional. A customer should never be confronted or yelled at because an employee disagrees with the amount of a discretionary tip especially after the customer has already explained the service issues. I understand that this waiter was relatively new and had only been working at the restaurant for approximately six weeks. I can absolutely give someone grace for being new. What I cannot excuse is confronting a customer over a tip, refusing to listen to their concerns, and walking away dismissively. What makes this particularly disappointing is that I was a returning customer. I have recommended emBargo to friends, colleagues in banking, investors, and other people in my professional network because of my previous experiences here. Unfortunately, after the way my birthday celebration was handled, I can no longer comfortably recommend this restaurant. I specifically chose emBargo for a special occasion. Instead of leaving with a great birthday memory, I left feeling rushed, disrespected, and extremely disappointed. Based on this experience, I would not recommend emBargo for birthdays or other special celebrations unless management addresses how situations like this are handled.

The cookie was good but very generic, tasted like a cookie I could get anywhere, nothing special. For $4 the size was worth it but not the taste. The breakfast burrito was okay as well. It had steak, cheese, egg, onions, peppers, and mushrooms. For $10 it was pretty hefty but it should be maybe $8. What really lowered the rating was that it wasn't really a coffee shop. They only had plain iced and hot coffee, cold brew, and espresso. No flavors and you had to put the creamer and sugar in yourself. The service was quick though. Very small shop inside with what looked like a lot of options. If I lived here I wouldn't have the desire to go back.

The restaurant looks much bigger from the outside than when you actually get inside. There is an entry foyer and a dining room and Tavern in a separate room. I pictured the restaurant to be much different than it actually was. We sat in a booth in the Tavern. It was a busy weekend night and was rather loud in there from patrons at the bar. The music seemed to be primarily 70's rock. The service was excellent and waitstaff were very attentive. I had a cup of the squash bisque which was a recommendation of one of the waitstaff, sour dough rolls, and then half broiled chicken, mashed, broccoli and cranberry ginger chutney. The chicken was moist and tender and the bisque was creamy and smooth. Veg and potato were delicious also. I think the cranberry chutney would be better without the ginger as it had a strong ginger taste and cranberry would have gone better with something like orange or nuts in it. I had a glass of Berringer white zin and for dessert, the toasted almond cake. My friend had white clam chowder, scrod, with mashed and broccoli, and a molten lava cake and she enjoyed hers as well. Be sure to sit in the dining room if you go there on a weekend night because the bar is very loud. Everything was very good. My only complaint would be the loud dining area.
