I have stayed here at the Marriott several times and almost always eat here. I know some hotel restaurants are just so so, but the Blue Fire is an exception. The food is well above average and the service is good. I normal sit at the bar since traveling solo most of the time. The bar staff stays busy, but keeps an eye on your needs. I have everything from the a chicken quesadilla, salads, burgers, fish tacos. They are all really good. I especially like the tacos as this is a go to food for me and these are good quality. I also personally feel the wings are better here than the local "wing" restaurants. Don't shy away from eating here. I don't think you will be disappointed. read more

This restaurant is right in the Marriott hotel and it's been remodeled so it looks much nicer than in previous years. We went down there around 6:15 PM and even though the restaurant was pretty empty it took forever to get seated and then the food took quite a while to come out. Once the food came out, the food was very good and we were able to get checked out very quickly. read more

I will start this, as I always do by saying that I do not give out five stars, unless I am really blown away. The staff was wonderful. The ambience is that of a hotel lobby bar restaurant. Nothing wrong with that. Nothing special about it. I will say the prices were pretty high for food but I was just looking for something small. I got an order of wings got them hot And they were meaty and delicious. The wings came with carrots, celery, and blue cheese, which were very good. If you're staying at the hotel, it's a good place to eat and have a drink or two. I can only suggest the wings I had nothing else. read more

Running on a very limited menu. Nothing is that fabulous but they're trying. Wings are decent. Just Frank's for sauce, that's it. Hot is fairly mild. Friend got a salad which was a weird combination. It's all just something for your belly, nothing special. They're just trying to provide a little something if you don't want to leave hotel or can't. Convenience factor. Lots of hotels no longer offer any dining in house. Very nice bartender. Decent listing of options for meals. Salads, sandwiches, steaks, seafood. Had the traditional beef on wick. I went with Turkey melt and salad. Salad was weak. Lettuce, tomato and a mound of onions. Sandwich was good. Definitely a must do when in town. read more

Was here a week ago for a layover at the hotel. I was hungry & noticed their Happy Hour & Specials sign in the lobby. It was $.50 wing night. (Monday) so I ordered 10. Figured it was a nice even number. I think 6 or 7 would have been plenty for me but I went ahead & ate them all because leaving 3 behind would be sad. Nice quiet booths toward the back. They were a bit understaffed tonight, likely the Cowboys beat down hangover.... Regardless, service and food could have been better. The boom boom shrimp was a bit expensive (for just 4-5 shrimp and cost was high) and the Cesar salad with salmon (special request, thank you) had a bit too much salad dressing. This is a nice hotel bar. It does get local business as well, and you may run into someone you know. Given its location, it a UB hangout of sorts and lunches "off campus" are often here I think. For me they are at least. I am not sure this is always the case, but when I have been here there have been some college teams staying here and eating in the bar area, although Im sure not drinking. Ive also seen other "VIPs" when here on occasion. Easy parking makes this an easy place to get a drink if in the area. read more

I went to this restaurant about two weeks ago - I got a good dinner deal with groupon and decided to use it on my birthday. I'm not sure if this is a newly opened restaurant or because its located inside the hotel but I've never heard of it before. The groupon deal was awesome - for appetizer we got the Lamb Lollipop ($13) which was very delicious and well worth the money. For the main entrees we got the New York Strip ($28) and Seafood Mix Grill ($29), the portion size was good and the food was tasty. We also had a Mangotini outside of the deal to try and it was strong. The food was great for the discounted price I paid with groupon. I knew I would get my money's worth and should've bought another! I'm not sure if I would go back again without a promotion/coupon because the entrees were more on the expensive side. But like I mentioned, the lamb lollipop was very pleasing and I definitely recommend anyone trying out the appetizer. NO LIQUOR LICENSE AT THIS RESTAURANT! So my fiancé and I were looking to do something for our 3 year anniversary. We are college students so we couldn't afford a hotel package at Salvatore's, so we opted for the Marriott and their restaurant instead. We walked to the grill, someone had their small dog (who wouldn't stop yapping) on a leash, IN THE RESTAURANT. This dog was obviously not a service dog and had no place being there. The place was completely empty, and when we asked for a table, one of the many employees standing around asked us to please sit at the bar instead. I insisted on a table. Our server sat us down and I could tell he was very embarrassed. He informed us that he could not serve alcohol tonight because the restaurant had lost their liquor license. This information was not listed anywhere on the Marriotts website or the restaurants website. The server was kind enough to offer us a free soda but we obviously did not stay for the food. While I was on the phone with the marriott making my $200 hotel reservation, I mentioned that their business was a much better deal than Salvatore's. NOT ONCE did the hotel mention they had lost their liquor license. As you can probably imagine, I am very upset by this and I will be giving the hotel itself a 1 star review. read more

Had dinner here last night. I was not crowded and the servers were super attentive without making us feel rushed. They refilled drinks without being asked. Food: The Fried Brussel Sprouts were incredible!! There was maple butter, balsamic onions, and toasted pecans that accented then perfectly! This is a large appetizer that can be a full meal or split among 4-5 people easily (assuming you will want to share)! Because we are so much of the brussel sprouts, we split a 4 way split slider which was a burger split into four pieces. Everything was fresh and the fries were crispy! It was 32 degrees so we didn't want to go outside. We sat where the fireplace was to stay warm. It was excellent for a bite when it's too cold to go outside! read more

I rarely give a one or two star rating, however I am fairly upset about my experience at Blue Fire Bar & Grill and I think my reaction is justified. The only reason I'm giving an extra star is because last night I hung out at the bar had some wine and had a lovely experience. It was today's incident that was just plain disappointing. Due to the snow storm, driving wasn't happening so I opted for lunch at the hotel. Walked up to the hostess booth at 12:45 and nobody was there. There were people dining but there was a large stand alone sign that read, "Dining Room is Closed." We were confused because there were people eating and well, it was prime time lunch hour. Luckily we grabbed a woman's attention and she said the dining room was in fact open and that she would try and find us a table. There were about nine open tables but most were still dirty from the previous diners. She did find one eventually, and the three of us sat down. We were handed menus, mine covered in schmutz which the waitress immediately noticed and swapped in a clean one. The menu was decent, two soups, couple salads and some sandwiches. Standard lunch fare. We weren't given a drink menu, which was fine, however I really could have gone for a STIFF ONE after this. When we asked our waitress what the soup of the day was she had no idea. Her response was something along the lines of, we are so busy because of the storm and are in the weeds. There were five tables in the dining room. Five. One table of four, two tables of three and two tables of two. Each table at a different part in their meal. I would not consider that swamped but hey, sure you're swamped alright no worries, we were in NO rush at all and we made that clear. In fact, my Aunt said, "No worries!!! We have all day!" So after finding out what the soup was, my sister went with that choice, some sort of steak and potato mix that she enjoyed. Turkey club went to my Aunt. The mouth watering "Carved Turkey" was more like Wegman's Cold Cut Turkey and the bread it was served on looked like a weight watchers 90 calorie flat bread pita type thing. I don't even know how to explain it but it wasn't up to restaurant standards. But hey, we could deal with that because there was nothing wrong with the food it just wasn't the quality we expected. What we couldn't understand however was the completely raw chicken on my salad. So here we are, catching up on old times. I'm eating my salad which was just okay, eating the sliced grilled chicken without examining it first because 1) Why would I need to examine my chicken first and 2) We hadn't seen each other and months and I wasn't paying much attention to my food. So I have two pieces left and I put one onto my fork and moments before putting it into my mouth I noticed it is completely raw. Not borderline raw, not "Come on Sam it's just a little underdone raw" RAW RAW. I do not send food back. If I don't like something I just don't eat it. Well, something had to be said about this one because well, it's a health concern. I called my waitress over showed her the chicken and she said, "Oh okay, do you want something else?" It's not really okay. It's raw. Of course I didn't say this. I just said, No thanks and she went back to the kitchen. She came back to say she would take it off the bill. (Ya think?) But that was it? No manager came over and I was shocked. This wasn't some rinky dink restaurant, it was affiliated with the Marriott and I thought that this place would be much more professional. I have worked in the restaurant business for years and years and if my guest had a problem with their food I made sure they were happy before they left. Taking their meal off the bill was an immediate fix but making them feel important to ensure they come back is SO CRUCIAL. None of that was done. This was raw chicken we are talking about, not a quesadilla that I ate half of and didn't love. I am pretty disappointed and because of how this situation was handled I will not be back. read more

If you ever find yourself in Buffalo and want to know a good place for dinner, you may want to pass on the Blue Fire Bar and Grill. On a cold Friday evening with an underwhelming crowd; the Marriotts house restaurant failed to achieve a level of basic competency during dinner service. The service at the restaurant is friendly and accommodating when you can get somebody to help you. Otherwise, it is a disorganized mess that will start you off wondering who exactly is running the floor. If you want to find a table; you will have to find a waitress for yourself while the host stand remains unoccupied and ignored. Once you do the work of finding a table, you will ultimately have to inform the server you need a minute to look at the menu as they ask for your drink order before you even finish sitting down (I happened to witness this at every table that was sat during my dinner). Then when you finally do order a drink; you will have to wait until the server walks by a few times before remembering you ordered a drink. Fortunately for this unorganized and slow paced eatery the wine list is good; just not good enough that you want to wait 15 minutes before receiving it. You will then be surprised to find that receiving the complimentary bread is up to the servers discretion; as you watch some tables receive it while others remain empty. Maybe it was because I ordered an appetizer? Speaking of the appetizer. It had been quite a long time when all of a sudden my food arrived. Not just my appetizer; both appetizer and entree! How lucky i get to decide which i want to turn cold before i get a chance to eat. After sendind back the appetizer without eating it; i was pleasantly surprised by cold mashed potatoes under my overly sauced protein. And not only was there too much sauce, but the sauce itself was way too sweet and left me puckering up after each bite. Tip for the cook; don't use dried fruit in your sauce, its too sweet. The real shame was that the meat beinf ruined by this sauce was cooked perfectly. To top off the evening; the server tried to get the supervisor to talk to me but surprisingly he didn't see it worth his time to speak with an unhappy customer. Instead he told the server to offer me a free dessert. I ordered a slice of chocolate cake and received a slice of chocolate cake covered in peanut butter sauce. I guess its a good thing I'm not allergic to peanuts since they didnt mention the peanut butter sauce anywhere on the menu. Overall, this place is in serious need of management. Until that gets fixed, I would avoid dining at the Blue Fire Bar and Grill. read more

In town on business, needed a quick lunch and we decided on this place. Staff is amazing, super friendly, taking care of every single detail. We preorder our lunch and everything was ready on time and cooked to perfection. The white bean fennel soup my friend had she said it was absolutely amazing, and the truffle oil made it really delicious. I tried the tomato soup and it was really good too. Most of us ordered salads and they were very good, the best one out of all was the tomato and mozzarella salad, refreshing and exactly what we wanted. We liked the variety on their menu, they had options for vegetarians which made us happy as two in my group prefer that menu. They were very happy with their selection and satisfied with the flavored and freshness of their dish. We are very pleased as we will get to enjoy their menu and choices all weekend. read more

I had the pork quesadillas and they were awesome! My bartender was Meghan, she was great and also super good looking which is always a plus! For a drink this place is OK for food its pretty mediocre. Stayed here all week had fish frye, burger and a salad. You may wonder why I kept eating here if the food was not that great. Well it snowed and I was wo a car so didnt feel like venturing out. I suppose greek salad was the best. Fish frye was greasy and not in a good way with soggy, what felt like, 10 day cole slaw. Burger was just OK. If the food was cheaper Id give it 3 stars. but given that they charge arm and a leg for super mediocre food 2 is enough. if you want good food in buffalo go to griffon gastropub. read more

I'm here for a conference this weekend. After one each breakfast, lunch and dinner, I see no reason to venture outside the hotel for a meal. The bread basket was excellent, with two types of baguette and two spreads, olive tapenade and a buttery something. Service was very good. Prices are reasonable for a hotel restaurant--well, breakfast is just a mite pricey--and the portions are generous; the white bean soup was an adequate lunch, and the mussels from the "Small Flames" menu were a fine dinner. read more

For a hotel restaurant, it's pretty darn good. I've been here two nights this week. Had a Reuben the first night (it was OK) and the wings tonight. 1/2 bbq and 1/2 hot. These wings were right up there with the best. The side caeser salad (had to have something that qualifies as green and healthy) was good, too. Not too much dressing, just enough. The hot wings were tossed in Frank's, one of my favorites. Service was excellent. I really couldn't tell who was the actual bartender since there were 4-5 people behind the bar most of the evening. Went here for Christmas dinner and we had a great waitress and the rest of the staff were friendly. Portions were too big but definitely delicious. There wasn't really anything we had that we didn't like except maybe the cocktail "Cuppa Joe" kind of tasted like spiked milk. Everything else was delish. read more

Let me start with the good. The Servers were wonderful. Very professional, prompt and courteous. The food wasn't bad either. What I am upset about is the management or very shady business practices. Before going, I reviewed the menu on their website. Lots of great variety which allowed me to talk my wife into going. The menu we received was an extremely scaled down or very outdated version of what they had on line. Much of the seafood that was advertised on their website was not offered at the restaurant. The items that were offered were grossly overpriced from the stated price they had on their website. For example; their website offered the salmon for $19 but when you go there, the same meal is priced at $25. Either shady bait and switch or extremely poor management that thinks making a website consistent with your business is too overwhelming of a burden. read more

Found the menu for this place on line and after reading reviews i booked a reservation.When we arrived there was no one at the hostess bar stood there for 5 minutes before the bartender came over and gave us a table.That is when things really went south the menu has been changed at the restaraunt but not online so half the dishes we looked at were no longer available,I even brought the menu up online and showed the waitress (of course it is not her fault),total menu is like 15 items including starters.I ordered the pork milanese it was dry very dry and flavorless.My wife had the seafood mixed grill all under cooked rubbery and tasted like frozen food.The house salad with walnuts and cranberries .was the best part............NEVER AGAIN. read more

I had a piece of chicken added to the salad, and had a glass of water, and spent $24 ! ! A little outrageous if you ask me, but I suppose they can charge what the market will bear. The food was fine, and the server was pleasant, but I would drive elsewhere for lunch rather than have to pay such a ridiculous amount for a salad. read more

Comfortable and spacious. Went for the buffet breakfast and was quite pleased. The omelet station was top notch. The bacon (crispy) and sausage was quite above average. You can find all the typical accouterments of a breakfast buffet (yogurt, cereal, waffle maker, etc.) There seems to be care given towards making the quality of the food stand out, so you don't have just a typical ho-hum breakfast. My family and I have been going to the Sunday brunch buffet at the Blue Fire Bar & Grill (and its previous incarnation) for years to celebrate special occasions. Rani and Gracie have always provided excellent service. Due to my dietary restrictions, I'm unable to eat most of the foods on the buffet or on the menu. The staff have always accommodated my requests to "make my own salad." Kudos to Ryan and Greg for today's salad which was delicious (and huge). read more

This place has absolutely delicious food! For an appetizer we ordered the bruschetta that was out of this world delicious! The baguette was crispy with olive oil on it that went great with the juicy tomatoes, the salt shards of cheese and the very tangy balsamic dressing kicked it out of the ballpark. We also got the pizza margarita that was done a totally different way than usual. It had a pesto sauce instead of tomato and pieces of basil on top. It was by far the best that I had, and will actually prefer my pizza margarita done this way every time from now on. For my dinner, I order one of the specials for tonight, the half roasted duck. It was wonderful, it had a nice orange flavor which is the best thing to pair with duck. The skin was nice and crispy just the way I like it, and the meat was nice and tender. It was also served with a delicious Israeli couscous. My mother got the blue marlin served with sautéed spinach and roasted potatoes. The spinach was cooked perfectly, the potatoes were nice and salty and the fish was cooked to perfection. She said she would definitely order it again, along with my father who tried a bite and said that he would get that next time as well and coming from a person who doesn't eat that much fish that means a lot for him to say that. Now my father got the filet of sirloin. It was served with a huge portion of risotto and asparagus that was grilled and drizzled with balsamic. The filet was topped a gorgonzola crusted and these fried onion strings. The portion size on his plate was huge, and delicious. The filet was cooked to a nice medium-rare that just melted in your mouth. The risotto was nice and creamy and the asparagus was nice and tender and really paired well with the balsamic drizzle. The wait staff was very friendly, and very efficient. The waitress provided excellent service we will definitely becoming back for the wonderful service, great cozy atmosphere and the delicious food! This is definitely a restaurant that I will recommend to all my friends and family for sure!! read more
