First I'll say if I had listened to most of these reviews I would have really missed out on a really great stay with pretty good amenities. First the customer service: they were really friendly when I checked in late in the evening. The woman was super knowledgeable, they thanked me for being there, told me about breakfast, and let me know that if there were any issues with the room to please call down. The front desk area was clean, stocked with coffee, and had cute decor. Room: was a 2 Queen room. We are a family of 5 with three young kids so it was a little tight, but definitely doable. Especially when we didn't plan on staying there the entire day, we planned on being out and about. The beds were clean, and soft. We slept really good and slept past our alarm clocks both nights Haha! I always check for dirty sheets and such before we get into our beds and they were great!! The bathroom as well, was clean, stocked appropriately and had bath toiletries that smelled really good. Dining: we really enjoyed breakfast! Kept us full and satisfied so that we could go on about our day. I love that, because for our family after we find somewhere to eat and get dressed we're not on to our day until 1 or 2pm! So the free, delicious breakfast was a huge plus for us. They had waffles, eggs, sausage, grits, oatmeal, muffins/bagels, yogurt,, cereal, fruits, and your choice of juices and the always available coffee. Pool: open until about 10 or 11. This gave the kids time to come back and swim a little more or right before we left out. Only thing was that there weren't any towels available at the pool, which they have bins for them but they weren't stocked. So we had to ask the front desk. Also, at night it gets pretty wild in the jacuzzi area, we saw people kissing and a group of younger people bringing drinks and what not. Not a huge deal to me but I know some people may want a heads up with their kids. Location: This was about 8-10 minutes from the Gould's Inlet beach access entrance! And about 8 minutes from the Village with all the shops and dining spots! Very good location! Overall great stay, and we would definitely stay again! Unfortunately I have to leave a star. They deserve zero!!! Upon arrival here (we have had this booked for a week) they gave us keys to a room(207) that didn't work. Had to walk all the way to the front desk to get activated again. When I made it back to the breezeway where all our stuff sat the key worked only to find a room full of stuff and a dog on the bed. This time my fiancé went down to the front & they couldn't figure out the mix up. So after 20 min of standing in the breezeway with all our stuff looking stupid & embarrassed the lady came up to check a suit. Said we could stay there for the night & move the next morning. So the next morning (today) they said the new room would be available by 11 but now that are saying 12. Completely disrupting our quick little vacation we desperately needed. This is a crock of B.S! I would recommend going elsewhere. The rooms are not great & the water pressure for the shower is subpar. This place sucks all around! *Update* we had to pack all our stuff & put it in the car for the day due to them not having the room ready by the specified time. After we got into our room 207, Yep the the original room we were supposed to have. We went to dinner then decided to go for a swim. Grabbed our key card went to the pool. When we got back to the room our key didn't work so we had to walk all the way to the front desk to get it reactivated‍ Overall a complete hassle that ruined our stress free get away! Not even a true apology & no attempt to make anything right! * I Do Not Recommend this place whatsoever* Deborah thanks for the reply but if I'm in the area again which I will be I will not pay to stay there again. I will start this out by saying my mother is a double lung transplant survivor so she has to be cautious about where she stays when visiting me on st simons island. The first room the woman gave us felt damp and musty and the air conditioner smelled like mold. There was black mold on the doorframe and the sheets were dirty and gross. We got a room change (the room right next to the previous one we had) and upon walking in it smelled better however upon doing my walk for bugs and what not I believe I found BED BUGS, the carpets were stained and the room was muggy needless to say we got out of there asap and will NEVER be coming back! read more

I would stay here again... but here are some tips for the hotel that I think could help them improve, along with what we loved! Tips: Breakfast was OK. Being an avid BW frequenter, we have experienced the very basics of breakfasts to a make your own omelet bar. BW St Simons offers the basic waffles, cereal, yogurt bar, milk, juice and coffee. They have eggs and some type of meat (hot) and various breads. While this is decent, we recently stayed at a BW in a VERY small town that offered a HUGE variety of local fruits, hot eggs, omelets, biscuits/gravy, meats and potatoes, various pastries switched daily, and milk/yogurt alternatives. Also, the fresh fruit was the same apple and banana each day (although there is a farmers market down the road so it would be cool if they could utilize that for offering more variety). Room was very cramped! We had two beds and about 10 chairs! Possibly removing some of the chairs would be great as with 3 adults staying in the room it was a tight squeeze, and we NEVER used the chairs (honestly there wouldn't have been any space to sit anywhere beside the bed). LOVES: Location is PERFECT! Appearance, cleanliness, and safety is AWESOME! Staff were amazing! Seriously the BW always has the best staff and everyone here was so kind and generous and happy to be at work... it really made the stay great. Pool/Hot tub- although we did not use it (we came during a cold spell sadly), this is a major plus and lots of people were outside in the hot tub. Well, despite some of the previous reviews, we gave this place a try for a night and it's just meh. It gave us the impression of something we would have stayed in during our youth....the colors and furnishings (although I've heard that's a "thing" nowadays). A few of the pros.... - the a/c works great! - pretty clean room - quiet area and didn't hear any other guests - the hotel itself seems to be relatively well kept A few of the cons... - iron but no board? - old linen was piled by our door for hours - the main door to the room is separating - a mop bucket sitting in the lobby with dirty water made the whole area stink! The breakfast wasn't terrible....bacon, eggs, waffles...normal fare. The coffee was actually pretty decent. I honestly can't say we'd go out of our way to return. read more

The employees are nice, helpful, and greeted me and my family in the morning. The layout is cool, but the pictures do not look the same as it actually is. There was supposed to be a door between the two rooms that we had and there was no longer a door. Dont know why but ok. The door would have been nice since the night I stayed I carried out 3 phone calls and my other family members had to hear me talk, this wouldn't have been a problem if the door showed in the picture was there. Also the walls are thin if you want to bring your shawty and "have some fun" don't because everyone can hear you, and I did not want to hear you neither does anyone else. The smell is DISTURBING, DISGUSTING, AND CONTAMINATING. Please, just please febreeze the rooms and the lobby 1000000 times. It smells like an old person used the restroom. If you are going to sleep on the pull out couch, you will get zero sleep. The pull out was medium firm I could feel the springs and it made sounds if I moved. The room goes very cold and then gets hot and the temperature is never just right. The breakfast was "ok" i did like the waffles but the smell made me loose my appetite. read more

Not sure about all the bad reviews from a few years ago, maybe the hotel took them seriously because I did not see any of those issues and I was surprised to see all those comments when I came here to leave a review, here is my experience. This is a very cute and quaint hotel. We drove down from MA and stopped here for a much needed rest with our dogs. This is not going to be a brand new modern hotel, if that's what you're looking for, don't stay at a Best Western. If you want a small almost hometown comfortable stay, this is it. The hotel is older but maintained well. We had a king bed, the room was a great size, bathroom had a very cute sliding door. The ironing and closet is inside the bathroom so it's a great use of space. Bed wasn't super comfortable but after 2 days on the road with minimal sleep, nothing was keeping me awake at that point. This is my first time in Georgia and St Simone is BEAUTIFUL. Just the area and number of amazing food places is a great reason to stay here. The staff at check in were very nice and friendly. Do not stay here!! I woke up to a bed bug in my bed and the staff didn't act like they cared at all. I showed a picture to them and they denied it was a bed bug but I had bites all over me. The rooms stink, the carpets are disgusting, just the whole place just felt dirty. The only good thing I can say about the best western plus was how awesome Bubbles, the breakfast lady was. Usually don't leave reviews for hotels. Stayed here last week with my therapy dog. Everything was normal at check in, the lady was very nice and helpful. Fast forward to checkout- when a not so nice Deborah was yelling at me about having a dog at her hotel when it had already been cleared at check-in. She decided to charge me a pet fee for what i assume is her own petty reason. No one complained, she never barked, and she didn't trash the hotel so what reason is there to overcharge me?!? Luckily my dog was right were she was supposed to be and calmed me down enough to walk out of there without committing a felony. Cute little hotel with outdoor room access. A huge pool with plenty of seating and a large hot tub. The pool is one of the nicest in the area and the largest we saw ! Breakfast was grab and go because of corona, apple, granola and water. We really enjoyed our time here and it's great value for the money. We have stayed at this hotel a number of times over the last several years. It was good until the last time. Last time, I said we wouldn't stay again because the room looked worn. I should have stuck to my conviction. This time, we were in a different room that looked much better, but my elderly mother woke up with bites. Mine (about 10 of them on hands and arms) showed up later that morning and into the afternoon and evening and are consistent with bedbug bites. I subsequently called the hotel twice to let them know they have a problem. Zero concern or empathy from the clerk as to our welfare or the long process of treating and cleaning all of our belongings that were in that hotel room as well as the car as not to drag any home. We have been here several times in the past four years since we live in Savannah for the winter. Everything has gone downhill. Poor service, very mediocre food, bar was out of prosceco, anything bubbly. Are they going under? We were just there overnight and place was packed due to spring break. Two servers for entire rest, bar outside, etc. We will continue down to Ponte Vedra next getaway and avoid King & Prince. read more

This was absolutely the worst hotel experience I've ever had. Someone tried to kick down the door next to mine. I called the front desk over and over and when they didn't answer, finally called the police. When my husband complained to the manager, who was visibly drunk, he kicked us out of the hotel. This is all on top of dirty facilities, no breakfast (which was advertised), a broken hot tub, and a pool area that was rented out for a family reunion. My complaint to the corporate headquarters has gone unanswered. This is a truly horrible company. read more

Smack in the middle of St. Simons but the staff is friendly!!! And this hotel is so cute!! Great pool and convenient car ride to everything! Comfy beds, mini-fridge, and single serve coffee. Also, room is layed out really well. There is a barn door (sliding) for the bathroom so the door doesn't get in the way. read more

Stayed here over this past weekend for 3 nights. Here's my take: - The rooms are clean and modern but small. We didn't have any room service Friday so the trash cans were full and we were out of towels after Sat morning showers. They did come Sat and were very nice and accommodated our schedule. - The pool and outdoor areas are nice. Wife and kids enjoyed that. - The resort says "Smoke Free Facility" but everyone was smoking in the walkways, by the pool, etc. Doesn't really bother me, but if you're sensitive to cigarette smoke, you may be disappointed. - There were folks that sounded hammered drunk in the pool at 3:30am Saturday, but the staff nipped that quickly. I give them credit for handling that. - Morning breakfast isn't bad at all for a hotel breakfast. All-in-all, don't expect luxury, but not a bad place to stay. And a friendly staff. read more

My camping trip turned into a hotel stay because of a leaky tent. The stay was fabulous. Staff was friendly and engaging. The decor was very well thought out. The room was very clean and decorated with the latest styles, colors and finishes. The T.V. offered NO adult channels-very nice to see! The pool is large and clean with a pristine gazebo-covered hot tub. Breakfast was hot and tasty with a classic selection of choices. I wish I could have stayed longer. read more

We stayed here a couple of years ago and loved it. We came back because we had such a good experience. This visit, not so great. We've had to take our own trash out, go and ask for towels several times, and go ask for toilet paper for our room. We have a six-year-old, so the pool is always important; the pool here was closed for 3 out of the 4 days we were here. We were told we could walk across to the pool at a neighboring, cheaper hotel- it was tiny and pretty much sucked. You pay for certain amenities, and those amenities were not delivered. read more

I stayed at this hotel for several weeks and the staff made the stay extremely pleasant. The staff was always friendly and helpful - going above and beyond what was expected. We were told some guests had been waiting for almost 6 hours, that our rooms were not ready and that the desk clerk didn't know when or if they would be. Facilities are not that bad for the price. Location is not within walking distance of anything. Staff was friendly. I stayed 10 nights and my floor was never vacuumed, not even before I arrived. Housekeeping did a poor job of cleaning the room. One day I had to wait until 545 for house cleaning to clean my room and all they did was make the bed and take out the towels. I've had dirt on the floor in the bathroom since I got here and it's never been cleaned. Complained to the front desk with no changes being made. read more

Unfortunately, the manager Debra was less than pleasant after a mirror fell off the wall while I was not in the room. I was charged an incidental fee for the mirror falling off the wall and shattering glass on the floor, again this occurred while I was at dinner and not even in the room. I called the front desk immediately and since they did not have anyone on staff to clean it, I had to move rooms at 7 months pregnant, by myself, with no assistance. I tried to speak with Debra the manager about the charge and she hung up on me twice and told me she would not refund the incidental charge. She was less than pleasant. My family stayed here for the weekend and our stay was amazing. Although we ran into an issue with our initial room not being properly cleaned, management and housekeeping (Clarissa) immediately corrected the issue. We were moved to another room, and also offered a credit for the inconvenience. That being said, the room was very clean and appeared to be newly renovated. This hotel has been recently renovated. I'm very impressed. Upon arriving, the front desk clerk was friendly and courteous. The newly renovated check in area was very nice and inviting. When we got to our room it was just as nice and inviting, everything looked newly redone. Fresh paint, new beds/bedding, the bathroom was AMAZING! It had dispensers in the shower that had shampoo, conditioner and body wash that is supplied by the hotel. The hair dryer wasn't one of those small attached to the wall ones, it was in a nice draw string bag sitting under a shelf below the nice sink. What I loved the most (and I wish I could take it with me) is the the very modern lamp that had 2 usb plugs ins as well as your standard plug ins. The stay was pleasant for the most part. We did have some issues with the wrong payment card being charged when we checked in and we were not given a total of how much was being charged, but it was corrected the next day. The staff was friendly and the rooms were clean and very spacious. We also had an issue with the television in our room not working the last night we were there. We called the front desk and they said they were sending maintenance to fix it and no one ever showed up. We called a second time and were told all the televisions were out on the property because of an incoming storm. However, there was never a storm and the t.v was still out the next morning and the other televisions on the property were working. I would definitely recommend The Beach House restaurant on the property. The food was great, staff was friendly, atmosphere and service were great as well. The view from our room was awesome, we were facing the beach and had a patio. The pool was nice and it was also facing the ocean. Overall, the experience was good. The room was dirty. The carpet was sticky, the telephone in the room was so dusty and the light fixtures as well you could write your name in it. And the mirror on the back of the bathroom door had small sticky handprints all over it like a little kid had some fun at the mirror. The bathroom was somewhat ok but the dirt was piled up in the corners like they don't know how to clean. The hotel staff was not available in the front lobby for about 20 minutes when we arrived to check in. I was one of the 4 other guess there needing to check in. The staff that brought me towels and washcloths well maybe the management needs to go over proper attire for work. The mans underwear was blue/green if that explains it. Well other than the cleaning and staff needing some training in customer service the grounds and location of the hotel was good. But the bad outweighs the good on this one. Will not be returning to this property and will not recommend especially with Covid19 the room possibly could have been contaminated and since it wasn't cleaned properly well you know what that means. read more

Update on my older review: I was hoping this time to give 5 stars....instead I'm giving 3. Now, I must say that the staff (especially Khalif) were great! The pool is amazing! But, we did have a few issues. To start, the bathroom door would not close. When you are sharing a room with your mom....you want the bathroom door to close. When we called they said they would be right up....after waiting 2 hours for them we decided to give up and just go on with what needed to be done. We called again and they said they would come in the morning. The next morning we were going to a funeral. We forgot to take the "do not disturb" sign off of our door. However, the manager and another employee saw us leave and knew where we were going. Instead of not fixing the bathroom door, they could of called us or at least knocked. When we got back from the funeral, our key cards stopped working. When we called down Khalif came right up, apologized, and gave us new key cards to our room. Despite that, being emotionally and physically drained, it was an annoyance to not have you key card work. About two hours later, i went down to the pool. When I came back up my key card (the new one) would not let me into the room. I had to wake up my sleeping (and irritated) mother. Finally, the comforters were very dirty (food stains, pen stains, ect). Would I stay here again? Possibly, I love the staff and the pool, but some improvements would need to have been made before I stay here or recommend this place to my family.
