So with four bicycles of different types in my garage needing supplies, I searched for something more on the small shop category and came up with Omer and Bob's. I was quite happy I made that decision. What is amazing is that being a 100-ski day yearly skier, Omer and Bob's had never been in my radar as a ski shop and yet, they started as a ski shop during the early days of Mick Jagger - (actually the shop opened in the same year as the Rolling Stone's first album). From its beginnings, it is now a full-activity sports shop, offering Nordic and Alpine ski, bicycling, sports shoe wear and running apparel. Despite its relatively modest footprint, it is well supplied with quality equipment. They carry all types or bicycle gear, electric bikes, racers, commuters, leisure, recumbent, you name it. And at reasonable prices that make this a great value. The staff is friendly and businesslike. I came in for replacement tubes for my four bicycles and they had everything I needed. And then I spent some time impulse-buying and looking over their selections. I will be definitely be coming over here again. On a side note, their main entrance is on the same block as the center of Lebanon, where the city has made the most superb decision to close down lanes of traffic to allow all fresco seating for several restaurants and improve the town's vibe. I visited this shop early on a Saturday morning. I had gotten a tune-up at a bicycle shop in the Greater Boston area in preparation of cycling Vermont Route 100, and picked up my bike on Friday night (the night before I planned to leave). When I brought it home (and after the shop had closed) I found that my bike's chain was making noise in certain gears. I tinkered around with the derailleur to try to fix the problem, but to no avail. I feared that my Vermont trip would have to be cancelled. I decided to try to find a shop in Brattleboro, my planned starting point, and selected this one because it opened the earliest. I visited there early on Saturday, explained the issue, and immediately was introduced to a mechanic (I asked for his name but have since forgotten it, unfortunately). He kindly and patiently explained what he was doing as he went through his evaluation to diagnose the issue, and invited me to stand alongside him to watch and learn. Within minutes, he deduced that the height of the derailleur was incorrectly adjusted by the previous mechanic, causing the chain to rub in high gear. He made the correct adjustment and it worked perfectly. Amazingly, he didn't even want to charge me more than $10, although I insisted on giving him that and then some for his help (and for basically saving my trip). I love cycling, but I know that visiting bicycle shops can be a frustrating process. Many bicycle mechanics seem to delight in making the customer feel ignorant. Here, the mechanic was not only skilled and instructive, but he was completely without pretension. It is a shame that I live more than two hours away from this shop, or it would be my default for repairs. As it turned out, the mechanic's adjustment on a Saturday morning ended up saving my cycling trip, and the bicycle has functioned perfectly since.

I still absolutely love the wheel sets I have on 3 of my bikes. All were built with SON generator hubs on the front, Chris King on the back and spec'd for my weight and a touring load. When I take my bikes in for tuneups I tell the the shop mechanic, "Please leave the wheels alone. Please don't true them, Don't adjust them just leave them alone. Do NOT touch the wheels." I've ridden thousands of miles, not a broken spoke or wobbly wheel. Straight as an arrow. I use Schwalbe Marathon Plus touring tires. I can't remember the last flat I've had. Can't say enough good about these wheels.

They also have an extensive rental program, as well as a repair shop that can handle, not only E bikes, but also Every other type of bicycles. They are open both weekdays and weekends in a town that it's known for its lakeside communities, as well as its winter season. When I stopped over the store, they stated they are looking at stocking different winter, sports equipment. Nice employees, fully stocked, accessories, and a white array of equipment.
