We went to fredonia to visit friends and stayed at the White Inn. It's an historic location built in the late 1800s with recent modern updates that combine the old and new. We stayed in a suite with a sitting room. Both rooms had large TVs and comfortable furnishings. There were soft colors and beautiful wallpaper. The bathroom was up-to-date with granite counters, tile floors and a rain shower fixture. Continental breakfast was included and perfect to start the day. We will definitely stay here again. read more

Very disappointing experience overall. Our reservation was somehow lost despite having a text confirmation, which was frustrating--especially since we were there with a group of friends to celebrate my birthday. Although our server was pleasant, the service was extremely slow. We were rarely checked on and were never asked if we wanted additional drinks or anything else. Our food arrived over an hour after we were seated, and everything was cold. I ordered the pork belly, which was tough and chewy, almost like leather. My entrée was so overly salty that it was completely inedible. My wife ordered the signature dish Lamp Lighter Chicken; the potatoes were also excessively salty, and the chicken itself was very dry. We informed our server, and while my entrée was comped, the manager never came to our table to apologize or even acknowledge the issues. Came here for a fine dining dinner when visiting Lily Dale. I would give it 3.5-4 stars. ( I am a keto person) Started out great! Got the coconut espresso martini. It was terrific! Cold, well-blended and not overly sweet. Got the Crab/brie dip with veggies (instead of naan). Again, terrific. I ordered the two petit filet dinner with double veggies-of-the-day and a glass of Italian red blend from the menu I was given. The steak was ok- mostly tender- but the veggies were cooked on the flat grill with that "diner" smell - like they cooked the hot dogs beside it The wine did not come with dinner and, after I asked, was told the wine I chose was not on the "current" menu. While in the area for a wedding, we were taken to The White Inn for dinner. The White Inn itself is supposedly haunted, but I didn't experience anything that goes bump in the night at the restaurant. Food The menu had some good options, so it was hard to choose. Being in western New York, I felt it was only right to go with the Beef on Weck with a blue cheese apple vineagarette salad. The sandwich was excellent. Definitely a staple of the area. The salad was very enjoyable, with the apples and blue cheese pairing well. 5/5 Service Staff were friendly and attentive. They came by multiple times to check on refills and satisfaction. 5/5 Ambiance A restaurant in a haunted hotel? We used to eat here a lot before it closed so we were exited to see it open again. My wife and I stopped in for lunch on a weekday so it wasn't too busy and we were shown right to a table by the window. The dinning room has been beautifully refurbished and the ceilings are particularly stunning. Our sever was quick to arrive with waters and tell us about the specials. I chose the lunch special of the pot roast poutine and I was not disappointed. It was a decent sized portion for a lunch and the meat was so tender. I finished with a creme brûlée which was so tasty I didn't even stop to take a picture. If this is what's on offer at the new and improved White Inn I will be back for sure! read more

Beautiful property recently renovated to show the perfect blend of modern elegance and timeless beauty. Perfectly landscaped and a very inviting feel overall. As others have mentioned, I wouldn't come in for a quick meal as our food did take quite awhile to come out - but lucky for us we were visiting with family and had a lot to catch up on so we didn't mind waiting. Our party of 8 enjoyed everything we'd ordered - specifically the beef on weck and the braised short ribs. The service was good, fair prices and great cocktails. I took off one star because as a mother dining with young children I was a little annoyed there was no changing table in the bathroom. I had to change my child in the windowsill which is just a little off putting. Overall, would highly recommend and I would return if given the opportunity! read more

I haven't been in The White Inn since the 1980s and wow, was I impressed. Very beautiful update which keeps the charm but feels so open and inviting. We went for my Aunt's 95th birthday and had 16 people at our table. We were greeted warmly by the front desk and had a dining room to ourselves for most of lunch. Food was excellent People ordered everything from pasta to hand held sandwiches and big salads. I can't say enough about the service people. Very attentive without being intrusive. Efficient and friendly. We will be going back to stay at the inn part at some point because we liked it so much. read more

Friendly staff who seem to really like being part of a fine business. Notice: not all rooms are designated for pets. Fantastic experience here for dinner Tuesday night! I hadn't been in since the renovated and it is absolutely gorgeous inside. We were greeted at the front desk and directed to the dining room. Our server Lauri was fantastic- accommodating and attentive. We both ordered the strip steak (one with whipped potatoes and other with sweet potato fries). All cooked to perfection. This place felt like a game changer for the region when we first experienced it in June 2025. It had the best food and service in the area. Sad to come back a year later and find it has gone downhill. The menu is suddenly much bigger (rarely a good sign for the food), and missing a few of the drinks and dishes we were excited to come back for. The bar-adjacent dining room was full of really inebriated older people, who should have been cut off many drinks ago. One corner had a table of older women cackling and yelling really loudly, which disturbed our meal between three people quite frequently. Meanwhile, old dudes stumbled from the bar, one of them pinching himself between the legs with bleary eyes directed towards us. My cocktails were 2/3 ice, gone too quickly with a few sips. Service was very friendly and welcoming, but quite slow. After waiting about 20 minutes or more for our entrees, I asked our server how they were coming along. They said that the place had a big table of ten to serve, causing delays for the rest of the tables. Glad they're busy, but it should not come at the expense of other paying diners. Sadly, the most disappointing change was in the cooking. My chicken parm, which used to be among the best I'd ever had, was tougher, the cheese bland, and the spaghetti surrounding it covered in a sauce that tasted sugary sweet and unappealing. My other table-mates agreed, the food just wasn't that great all around, although we loved the battered and fried mushrooms as an app. It was quite expensive, too, with prices noticeably much higher than last year. Our meal for two adults and one child cost around $125 after tip, which included the app, three drinks, two entrees, and a kids dish. It feels like some corners are being cut, at the risk of the restaurant's cooking and service. Sad to see it. Hope they can turn it around! read more

Located in Fredonia, the historic White Inn is a hotel with a restaurant that is serving above average food at a fair price in a location with atmosphere. Caldwell was our waitress and she was attentive yet not hovering. We both started with the French Onion Soup which was flavorful. My better half had the Broccoli Alfredo with chicken and I had a satisfying Wedge Salad. The very stylish dark wood bar on the west side of the lobby is an intimate alternative to the classy main dining room, as the menu is served there too. Just I had a draft and we split a carrot cake. Bill was $60 something plus tip. We wanted to take a peek at one if the totally renovated rooms, but the desk clerk said that unfortunately was not allowed. read more

I was looking forward to this evening for quite a while. (Postponed 3 months). I started with a lemon-drop martini (Tito's) in the lounge. I sat right next to the fireplace on a cold and gray day. We moved into the dining room for dinner. It was not crowded, because it was a little bit early. I ordered the fillet, rare. The others in our party also ordered steak cooked at different temperatures. Unfortunately, my meat was way overcooked. The wine list was mediocre, however, I did find a nice red to accompany the meal. The vegetable sides were well done. As well as the other accompaniment. The saving grace of the evening, was dessert. My wife and I went to eat here for our anniversary dinner. We sat on the patio and both ordered prime rib - medium rare. Came out dry as a bone, gray all the way through. I could barely cut it or chew the one bite I took. We sent them both back to get be prepared correctly, and the server informed me the cooks response was "Well, the lighting out there is deceiving". First of all, I took a bite to make sure before I sent it back. Secondly, the cook has no right to insinuate that I don't know the difference between medium rare, and well done. I can't rate the hotel stay, but the restaurant experience was far from the advertised experience. First impressions count for a lot, and we will most likely not be returning or recommending the White Inn. read more

The waitress did what she could but the kitchen simply couldn't get the food out fast enough. The food was mediocre at best. For the price we paid, we expected better. I have not stayed here since the renovation and this review is solely based on our dining experience on October 6th. I grew up in the area and go home a couple times per year to see family. I made a reservation for nine of us to include my mom, brothers, a niece and her family. The service was exceptional, and the food was delicious. If I force myself to make a complaint, it would be that the sautéed mushrooms were served dry and I'm used to them being in a little butter. Wife almost choked on a piece of parchment paper that was inside her eggplant parmigiana (which had no taste). Son and I ordered NY Strip Steaks; they were severely overcooked, and the meat itself was not good quality. Creamed spinich was some of the worst I've ever had. The spinach was not cooked and the cream was some form of melted cheese. Beef short ribs were overcooked and tough. kids fries were soggy and not cooked. Server apologized for food taking so long and claimed there was a big party in front of us; yet we saw several tables (who arrived well after we did) get their food before we received ours. If you are searching for an "elevated" experience I would look elsewhere. Overall, the food was good, drinks were as expected but the service lacks significantly. Our $23 appetizer came after soups and salads were delivered (ordered much earlier than meals/soups and salads) to which the waitress said "I thought that was delivered." It was a pretzel charcuterie which sounded enticing but was served with warm slimy cheese and a cold hard "soft" pretzel. The waitress tried her best, but seemed overwhelmed. The manager was rude. The meatball appetizer beautiful cooked dish , it is on the sweeter side. French onion soup is quite salty (I have to add lots of water ) but it's good. Eggplant pasta it's ok, there is plenty of sauce for pasta which is wonderful. Lemon drop martini it's on the sweeter side. Chicken marsala- it's OK but it is very salty too , mushroom it's over powering the chicken in my opinion. Happy that there is more choices in restaurants for people in FREDONIA. read more

We've been to the White Inn several times since reopening. The Hungarian peppers are fantastic. Even got my husband & granddaughter to have some and although a little spicy hot they loved them. I can't stop ordering the Steak sandwich on focaccia bread which melts in your mouth. We didn't have any problems getting our drinks. My husband had the fish fry great and wants to try the mile high Beef on Weck... our server Gabby was very attentive and the bar tenders are always very nice. Tables in the bar area are first come first serve, wish we could reserve them. Can't wait to eat on the porch when the weather gets warmer. Restaurant is half decent. Food is served hot and waters are filled periodically. Very inconsistent, either tastes like it's from a freezer or it had a tub of salt poured on it. No in between. Bar sucks... drinks are served 15 minutes after you order and you can look at them sitting on the bar before they bring them to you. Drinks are 30-40% more expensive than any other place in town and are not made well. read more
