Extremely rude customer service. I saw that there was a fundraising gala on the whittier events website for this organization and it was a flyer that didn't show pricing so I went to The Whole Child website to see if I could find out more information. Unfortunately, there wasn't any additional info, just the same flyer, so I called to inquire. Sara is the person who is at the extension listed on the flyer, not Andrea per the flyer contact info, and Sara was incredibly rude! Instead of answering my question about prices she responded in a very rude tone "well, it's not even until May!" Followed by awkward silence. Ummm ok, I would still like to know the pricing! She wouldn't answer my question and instead wanted to know where this info was and why I was calling. I explained it was listed in the whittier area events and also on the whole child's website. I felt like i had to justify my call. Who acts like that?! I explained maybe it was an old flyer or maybe they have it up early, I wasn't sure as I didn't look at the date before I called, I just saw a fundraising event that looked like fun and so was interested in knowing how much the tickets would be. As a courtesy to HER, I went on the website while on the phone with her and told her the link where the flyer was posted and confirmed it's for May 2018 and that I would still like the pricing for tickets. She said "maybe around $200. I don't know." again in a very agitated tone. She was very annoyed to have received this phone call and so I explained to her that maybe they should take it down if she doesn't want to get calls. I also was going to inquire about a part time position (community engagement) as I have been a stay at home mom for a couple of years and I am looking to get back into the workforce. I'm a local resident and have been very active volunteering with non-profits for 20 years and have a professional background doing marketing and program management in the tech industry. I also do consulting for small business owners so I was excited to find a local part time position that my skills are aligned with and in the non-profit sector which is what my personal passion is for. This looks like an amazing organization based on the comprehensive resources it provides to not only children but their families, as well. If Sara is representative of how your organization speaks to the community, I can only imagine how terrible the corporate culture must be and that's not an environment I would ever want to be a part of. 10 minutes ago I was excited to possibly go to this gala with my husband for a fun night supporting a worthy cause and also possibly apply to work here and now I'm just in utter shock. I'm absolutely baffled how calling to inquire about ticket prices for a fundraising event could be met with such disdain from a representative of the very organization hosting it. My guess is that Andrea was being proactive in marketing this event and she is no longer there and her replacement isn't familiar with where Andrea left off in the role. I can understand how confusion is easy when there is transition on projects or jobs but if I had received this call I would have just chuckled and said "oh it isn't until May but I think the price is x per ticket. I will need to confirm that and get back to you. I hope you'll mark your calendar and attend our event. It's an exciting night blah blah blah... and may I ask where you saw the flyer? I want to make sure I keep all of the information up to date as the time gets closer". Non profits needs all of the community engagement that they can get so anytime the public calls about fundraising that should be met with excitement, not rudeness. I sure hope you don't treat families in need in such a manner either because these are sensitive situations they are in and the last thing they need when reaching out is to be treated in such a rude manner. read more
