As the event got closer, we reached out multiple times by email to confirm our reservation and finalize the menu. We received no response. We also repeatedly tried calling the only phone number listed for the restaurant, but it was not operational. It wasn't until we sent two strongly worded emails on Thursday that someone finally responded--only to tell us they had overbooked our date and were canceling our event. While they did refund our deposit, that does little to make up for the fact that we're now left scrambling to find a new venue with less than three months before our wedding. Had we not persistently followed up ourselves, it's unclear when--or if--they would have informed us. Mistakes can happen, but poor communication and waiting until the customer has to chase you down before admitting you've double-booked an event is unacceptable. If you're considering this restaurant for an important event, be aware that a confirmed reservation and deposit may not guarantee they'll actually honor your booking.

Stepping back, this farm located outside of Bryan, Tx owned by Chef Bryan and wife Amanda, both of whom are great and down to earth couple that they now have incorporated a commercial kitchen that allows them to host these type of events. As part of the spread this farm has all the normal trappings you would find, i.e. chickens, pigs, etc. The couple are relatively new to the farming scene and as part of the animal tour they share their learnings of what's worked well and what hasn't which most people don't normally like sharing any of their shortcomings. Once the farm walking tour is complete you head back to the long outdoor wooden tables and benches all backed up to one another making a nice long long table that seats about 40-50 people, all appointed nicely with decoration and candles. To add to the experience are the outdoor lights strewn above head across the tables and tree branches. Something you would see in movies. After everyone has been seated and you've had time to finish your introductions with the other people seated next to you they begin serving their 9 course meals. All of which come from either their farm or anyone of their neighbor farms. These dishes aren't large dishes but give you an idea of the varied seasonal produce Bryan and Amanda grow. All the dishes were very tasty and some better than others, but you could really taste the natural organic flavor from what they picked from that day. As far as drinks its bring your own wine or beer so that helps keep the cost per individual to a very reasonable price at about $125+ tax p/person. By the end of the night the evening is finished off in the garden area that you follow the candlelight trail where everyone gets served coffee and desert under a full moon. How cool is that! When we got the leftovers home, the inside of these big cuts were raw and foul smelling. Obviously, they were inadequately cooked and then left to sit at room temperature. The entire place looked up hearing the metal cover hit the floor. A manager (Hispanic guy) did come over after I reported it and asked if we were okay. No apology. Moments later a female manager came by..not to apologize but to say "those cups are only for water". She was essentially accusing us publicly for stealing tea (after nearly getting hit AND spending $30 for mediocre bbq). I held up my container of Mio telling her "no we did not, I brought my own sugar free additive" The audacity of her to embarrass us like that when we could have potentially sued thier asses had my mother been injured. When I myself arrived with other items (coolers of soda, napkins, extra utensils) the two women quickly joined in helping me unload my van and the contents. Before the Christmas party started, food was prepped so it was fresh, neatly laid out on the table, and refilled promptly as the night continued. My boss was very appreciative of the attention to detail when it came to cleaning afterwards, and how quickly everything was handled. Not enough praise can be given to Epicures for how well everything was handled.
