Spent a lot of money and tipped only to take my to go order back to the hospital only find out they didn't put the meat in the to go bags at all that I paid for a stuffed potato i explained to three employees and I still wasn't able to get the meat until I paid an additional almost 5 dollars and was treated like I was trying to get something that I didn't order or had paid for about maybe 30 minutes previously. thats about what it took me to go to the hospital and back in the heat of the day to not have it handled correctly and still further be charged again as insult to injury for something that I've already paid for so they had me over a barrel and I was tipped myself that's for sure. Do not go there. They will not take care of you. you will experience young people that don't care as I had dealt with multiple employees and after I explained to them what was wrong and it needed to be made right they kept my five dollars for the crappy barbecue ! What I ended up with was a tiny little cup that was not enough for what was needed to make it a stuffed potato. Experienced microwave cooking at his finest from there. and I paid way too much For it twice. Extremely disappointed in my recent experience. I will be sure to tell anybody not to waste their time or money at potato shack after spending nearly $50. Should have been treated better or at least got something done to correct it. I paid for meat for a stuffed bbq potato. Had to buy the meat 2 times to get one tiny little cup of microwaved bbq slop Not ever going back !!! read more

I got the original potato add fried chicken but when we received our order there was no flavor in both the potato and fried chicken. The fried chicken was also soggy and no salt could save this potato. Also the Bottle beverage that I had was big red and it was expired and sour. Ohh potatoes!! My husband grew up eating here and has wanted to take me here for years. I have to say the Hot Wing potato was hands down our favorite, my recommendation for sure!! I personally ordered the Chopped Beef potato, the BBQ sauce was a little too sweet for me honestly. (I ate my mom's Hot Wing left overs, lol) Now the serving sizes are crazy!! Enough for leftovers which make the price point worth in my eyes. I would 100% give a try, we called ahead with a 5-10 wait we got there in 15 and it was ready to go! Great selection. But... spitting little pieces of foil out is not my idea of how to serve a baked potato. Instead of cutting thru the foil-wrapped potato and getting small pieces of foil in your customers meal how about taking the potato out of the foil before cutting it open. Maybe a sturdy paper or foil bowl instead of the popcorn tray. read more

This was my first experience and I was actually excited to try it but I didn't expect to pay over 40$ for 2 potato's and a drink. I read a few reviews and they were bad but I didn't think it was that bad but after my experience, I really could've gotten wings n more and it would've been wayyyyyy better. I said you know what okay let's try it , when you walk in the cashier in front had this attitude of I hate my job, like I get it I do but don't throw that on the people going in to have a meal, when asked about recommendations she would give this attitude of just order already. I have been going to potato shack since 2006. I've probably been hundreds of times across multiple locations (weekly in college) and sure it's not ALWAYS perfect but is it still the only place I HAVE TO visit when in college station. I've been to multiple Michelin star restaurants and live close to some of the best dining in Texas but nothing compares to a potato shack potato. First of all, I love potatoes. I probably get a baked potato once a month. I love how they have so many creative toppings! For me, the chicken parm and queso + meat on a potato? Genius! My husband likes the chicken fried steak and hot wing one. I will crave these "weird options" and try to recreate them to some crazy looks by others and I'm always disappointed in the end because they're never as good. I think the other major perk to potato shack is how soft their potatoes are. They don't just cook a potato, cut it in half and sprinkle cheese on top. It's SO SOFT they must pre-mash or somehow separate most of the potato from the peel then add toppings. Again, I've not had a potato as good anywhere else. Today we went with my little one and the staff was very friendly. Food came fast, was hot, correct, and delicious. How could I not give 5 stars? read more

My family and I arrived at Potato Shack in College Station just after 8:30 P.M. on a Friday night and placed our order for "dine in." The order was delivered to us at the table we were seated at, bagged up and packaged "to go." We should have taken that as a hint. But we didn't, so we un-bagged it, opened the to- go boxes, and started to eat. As we were eating we heard one of the workers, a young woman, being rude to other workers and customers. Then we heard a worker talking about being "out of potatoes" and to "turn the sign off" just before 9:00 P.M. Hours posted online show a closing time of 10:00 P.M. Moments later a worker came to our table and told us that "we're closed now. Is there anything else that I can get you?" I told her, "No, we have everything we need, but thank you for asking" and we continued to finish our meal. Yet again, we didn't take the hint. A few minutes later another worker came to the table and told us to leave, stating that they needed to sweep and mop. I objected at being rushed out of the restaurant when we were not yet finished with our meal, but he was insistent that we needed to leave so that they could finish closing. As I was putting my unfinished meal back in the "to go" bag my wife returned to the table from the bathroom and I told her, "We're being thrown out." Overhearing my remark the rude worker, who was sweeping, snapped, "Well, you don't have to take it that way." I replied that being told to leave before finishing our meal was rude and discourteous, I didn't appreciate it, and there really was no other way to take it. To that she replied, "Well, YOU need to be respectful of the fact that we're closed and WE have lives!" Indeed. Customarily when a restaurant closes service ends but diners are permitted to finish their meals. But apparently not at Potato Shack. At least not when this crew is working. My wife and I have been eating at various Potato Shacks in Bryan and College Station since they opened back in 1998 and have enjoyed many delicious meals at them. Since starting our family we've continued eating there, despite the fact that there's only one left and it's in College Station. We live in Bryan and it's a bit out of our way, but we still made the trip as often as we could. But we won't be making that trip any longer. We always make it a point to support locally owned businesses and it's disheartening to be treated this way at one. After this experience at Potato Shack we will never again return there. There is a reason why Potato Shack has so many one star reviews as well as comments about rude staff, and you should pay attention to them. It's an ongoing problem and the fact that it continues year after year makes it clear that the owner cares nothing about it or they would have made some changes. Over the years the problem with rude staff persists. But for us, it's not a problem any longer. Take your business elsewhere, like we are, to a restaurant where you will likely have a better experience. But at least try to support a locally owned restaurant. Hopefully one that appreciates and respects their customers instead of treating them with contempt like we were treated at Potato Shack. And if you're the owner of Potato Shack, please take this and your other one star reviews seriously and rethink your business strategy. While you still have one. Because eventually your lack of action to fix this problem is going to catch up with you. read more

I never would've thought that it was possible for a dining experience to make someone's day but today at potato shack plus My dining experience was catered with friendly faces and quick service by all the employees. attitudes were phenomenal with Travis and Holly going the extra mile to make sure that my every need was attended to. This is only the beginning because when you get into the food this is actually something that may not be that popular right now, but it will up it will blow up when word gets out how flavor blasted the food is!!! Ok so I came here while having a hangover so my review may be a little biased. To be honest, I ordered the WRONG thing. I decided to get the chicken finger basket which totaled almost $14. The chicken had no flavor and I felt they weren't cooked fully. Not to mention there were 9 fries that came with my order which also had no flavor. My friends ordered the classic (mashed) and the garlic Parmesan (mashed) and I tried both. You're better off getting a regular potato or mashed potatoes. Although the food was good, the customer service here is absolutely HORRIBLE. The girl taking our order (on 3/12/18 at 6:30 pm, tall, dirty blonde hair) had the biggest attitude I have ever seen. Basically threw down our fried pickles onto the table and barely said a word to us.
