I've been there twice in a span of one week. First with my daughter on a Saturday morning. Food was indeed good, great service and nice, calm atmosphere. I had the corned beef hash and to no surprise it was very tasty. Last night my son and I were going to Farrelli's but on the way, noticed that Windmill was right across the street. We immediately found parking, went towards the back door after meeting the owner outside, we asked if we could enjoy dinner. She seemed a bit stressed but told me that she didn't have any open tables so my son inquired if we could sit at the bar. We didn't have reservations as it was on a whim that we went there. Promptly greeted by the bartender and we ordered. I had the cesar salad and my son the slow braised ribs. I noticed after the food was served, he was eating very slowly and not seemingly enjoying it. He just replied it had no flavor. They were very busy as they have just reopened so we'll give it another chance. All in all good service but sitting at the bar is definately not for me. read more

I guess I should have read the reviews more in-depth before choosing to come here for lunch. I was with a group of coworkers deciding what to do for lunch and this place was closest with a decent star rating. No indication from the website indicated I would need a reservation, but I was certainly asked if I had one with a large side of derision when I arrived. When I said no, I was told my party could wait to be seated outside. My group of four casually dressed middle-aged men were about the sorest of thumbs in this place. There should be a sign noting that this restaurant is for old ladies only. So seating took about fifteen minutes from check-in to seated. Ordering took longer. Drinks took another ten minutes from ordering them. Ordering food occurred shortly after that. Then the waiting. With no refills. For a while. The servers were pleasant, but just really slow. Something tells me we were de-prioritized. I can guarantee you that I got the message. I won't be returning. After growing another inch on my goatee, my club sandwich arrived. It was okay. That's it folks. It was edible. I wasn't as hungry when I left as when I arrived. I can't say any more for it. Definitely was not worth the amount I paid. read more

Only reason it got a 2 and not a 1 was the corned beef was good outside of that a complete disappointment and we were really excited for this place. Pancakes were average and didn't come with syrup and butter by the time our waitress decided to check on us they had been on the table for 10 min, country fried steak was average and salty. Farm to table. Everything here is made fresh. I love how quaint the restaurant feels. It feels like you are eating at home or at a family's house. They have outdoor and indoor seating. We came here on Saturday around 11 am. Thought it would be crowded, but we came at a great time. Lot of parking. The food portions are big. I could not finish. Everything was delicious. I tried the clam chowder, and I'm not a seafood person. But that clam chowder was AMAZING! haha. The service was great. The waitress kept filling up my coffee. I highly recommend you try this place if you are in the area. It is a drive for me, but worth it. They also have a garden shop, tea shop, pond shop, hair salon next door. All walking distance. This place is beautiful great place to take the parents to have lunch. I recommend taking advantage of the outside seating and enjoy their garden. I had the chopped salad twice now and enjoyed it very much it's pretty tasty. Haven't had the will to try anything else yet. My kids loved the sandwiches and the fries were pretty yummy and not oily like some places. The in-laws said the clam chowder was wonderful Only thing that frustrated me was I put in a reservation on yelp and requested outside seating and when we got there they were asking me if we would like to sit outside and i was like yes I requested it in the yelp reservation. They didn't bother reading the special instructions but this isn't much of a gripe. I stopped by first thing yesterday morning. I was quickly seated and offered something to drink. I got a cup a joe. Shortly thereafter the waitress stopped to take my order. She was friendly and professional. I ordered the crab cake eggs benedict with homestyle fries and the complementary scone. My order arrived about 15 minutes (or 2 cups of coffee) later. It was beautiful!!! I started with the potato and the little hollandaise sauce that made it's way to the potato had me really excited! So, I had to switch gears. I cut into the perfectly poached egg and shoved a big ol bite in my mouth...ICK - the crab was like the worst version of a canned crab you could get. I was so disappointed. The book did not match the cover. I slid the crab off the English muffin and ate the rest of my breakfast. I have to admit the scone was good but also not 'authentic' to what I call homemade. The waitress saw that I pushed the crab off what I had eaten but no compensation was offered (the crab was +$2). She asked and I told her it wasn't good. She said sorry and removed the plate. It would have been nice if she'd have gone the extra mile. I will give the Windmill a second chance. Overall the ambiance, staff, food and drink were about or just above average. We have been wanting to try this place since it reopened. We called on a Thurs morning just after opening and asked whether we needed a reservation or could just come down. The person who answered said reservations are usually best, but come on down if you don't mind a bit of a wait. So we left right away and arrived at 11:15. Walked in. Just two tables occupied. Host was already arguing with a woman about not being able to seat her party (of 12!) for their reservation because they had brought toddlers in strollers. We patiently waited as this discussion continued on. Finally, another host walks up and asks if we had been helped - we explained we were just a party of two looking for a table. We were immediately told they were "reservation-only". When we explained that we had called just 15 min ago, and were told to come down, there was no apology - just a shrug and "you didn't talk to me". This, while the other host was STILL arguing with the woman who actually HAD a reservation for 12 that they were refusing to seat (because of the toddlers). Again, the restaurant is empty at 11:15. We are told they are completely booked for Noon, therefore it would be "at least a 400 minute wait"??? Again - no apology, or even a kind smile, or offer to make a reservation for us for another day... Their food *may* be great, but this kind of service is NOT. We will not be going back. The entire encounter was just a huge turnoff. read more

This is a pleasant surprise on the outskirts of downtown Sumner. The first thing you notice is how homey it feels with the inside feeling like a nice tearoom and an attractive outside seating area. The service is outstanding, very pleasant and engaging in their conversation with us. We have been there for Sunday breakfast and dinner and the food was delicious each time. The staff were all so kind and attentive. They were constantly checking in on us while the restaurant was busy, which is rare. This is often a forgotten or bypassed because it's so busy. I have no shame in saying, I'm The Grinch That Stole Restaurant Reviews. I call it like I see it and most places are not worth a dime. The food is either weak or terrible and portions and prices are the worth combination of wrong. I ended up here today based on some attractive photos. My expectation were low and felt confident that the food would be decent and at a minimum, I would try something new. It was a toss between the Dip and the Burger. I ended up going with the dip because you can get a burger anywhere and bacon for the burger was a $5 charge. I think the dip was $17, which was $3 more than the website advised. I know everyone has a price disclaimer, but I think it's sloppy to have process online that are lower than your actual pricing. Check with a local high school Any teenage kid can update your website and if you don't want to pay them, feed them well. Someone will step up, be a great way to pay for a Homecoming dinner. Now that I have spoke my mind, I'll say this. The service was friendly and flawless, it was the best damn French Dip I ever had and the portion was perfect, the sandwich was about what you would expect, but there was a generous scoop of fries. Take note people! By putting $.25 more potatoes on the plate, no one leave hungry, there are enough fries to have a few with every bite of the sandwich and the plate looks more like a platter! Seriously, the most flavorful, tender beef I have ever had on a dip and it wasn't fatty, tough or chewy. The fact that the place was busy tells me that the word is out that it's a great place to break bread and considering there is much else going on in this city, it could end up being a draw. I'll definitely be back to check out he burger, if it is as good as the dip, it just might unseat The Met as my favorite burger. It's rare that I go 5 stars on single visit, I have to come back and get that same explosive experience at least twice, but I can't give these guys 5 stars anyway, because pricing was about 20% higher than published prices on the website. They have a good selection of beers on tap, which is always good if your looking for a fresh pour verses a bottle. The lemonade was tasty and nice on a hot summer day. Updating my review to reflect the experience I just had. Walked in at 9:50 on a Sunday expecting to wait for a table. Was pleasantly surprised to see six empty tables. When the host came up to my husband and I, she asked if we had a reservation, then said if not we can only sit at the bar because the SIX empty tables were for 10:30 reservations. I actually laughed out loud. Seems odd to have six tables sit empty for forty full minutes. Went here for lunch today with my Aunt. She had made us reservations for noon. We planned on shopping at the nursery first then having lunch so we arrived at 11:30am. This is our favorite place to go! The view is beautiful outside, so it's super nice to dine on the patio, but inside is also lovely. The first time we went, Jake served us & was amazing, he checked in often & was never in a hurry & let us know that the plant shop was next door.
