Warning: I love food, I have eaten at amazing and not so amazing restaurants all over the world, and I was a server for many years. This is a very honest review. Just an average experience. Many people have ranted and raved about The Windmill and I was excited to finally try it. Ambience: the interior feels dated and tired. Heavy wood paneling everywhere and small booths. Could update a little and still stay true to the windmill vibe for a better environment? 2 stars. Service: Our server was very friendly, but unfortunately missed the mark on the service. It was busy when we went in on a Friday night but it took 20-30 minutes of us sitting there before we finally got to order anything. We ordered drinks and as I was trying to tell our server we were ready to order food he kept cutting me off and basically ran away from the table. Then we waited close to another 10-15 minutes to order food. As a former server, I understand pacing but this was too much. We were there for almost two hours and not by choice sadly. Just very slow over all and didn't add to the experience. 2 stars. Food: The food was good, but again nothing exceptional. For the price I was a little disappointed in the chicken. At most higher end restaurants they serve a partial roast chicken, but this was just a small, thin breast. Again, good but not great. Cocktails were also at the higher price point for the valley, but are lacking the quality to match the price. My cocktail had a tiny bit of ice and a ton of mixer. Ruined the balance of the drink and made it feel overpriced. The server also asks if you want a double or a single while neglecting to tell you that a double is literally the price of two cocktails. You want a double whiskey and coke? $21 EEEKKK. 3 stars. Overall, the price is too high for what you are receiving. If you want great food at this price point I'd recommend looking elsewhere maybe Shakti's, Stones, or Pybus Bistro. We probably won't be back, but at least if we do, we have a better idea of what to expect. read more

Thanksgiving Anniversary! It was Thanksgiving 2020 when I had ordered two Turkey dinners, $30 a piece. I waited 2 hours in the parking lot (with many other customers) to pick up our two dinners. When we opened the boxes we found one piece of Turkey meat and maybe two table spoons of mashed potatoes in each box, nothing else! Needless to say, I contacted the owner via email but never received a reply. I cannot recommend the Windmill. read more

This place has the best service and the best drinks. We make sure to always stop for dinner at the Windmill when we are in the area. It is super old school and very supper club-esque. The salads are great, the burger, delicious, grilled chicken, perfectly prepared, and the deserts are off the charts. read more

The food was good, but the experience left a bad taste in my mouth. Service was painfully slow. 30 minutes before our food order was taken. We ordered the special which was supposed to be a 30 - 40 oz ribeye. It looked to be about 24 oz. the restaurant wasn't busy, but our waiter paid all his attention to a table with kids, leaving. Then he vacuumed after they left. However, the blue cheese dressing was excellent, the fried prawns were very good, and the steak was cooked to order, medium rare, albeit not the size promised. The service bar, recently added with new ownership, is sparse on selection. All in all, there is considerable room for improvement. read more

Everyone there makes you feel welcome and takes good care you have everything you need. Their Manhattan was fantastic and on par with my own personal Manhattan, down to the Luxardo cherries! First off, this was our second time going to The Windmill and it was fantastic again! Becky was our server, she is absolutely fantastic. She is extremely tentative and charming. She made sure all of our food came out at the correct times. Now let's talk about the amazing food. We ordered the Jumbo Prawns as our appetizer! They were delicious but there was just something missing. We got our salads, the croutons are some of the best. Next up was the steaks! Both of us got 12oz ribeyes. My fiance got the pepper topper, and I got the gorgonzola topper! The pepper topper was good but probably wouldn't order it again. Both of our steaks were cooked perfectly. The baked potatoes! Best I've ever had! My fiance would probably just live out the rest of his days on those bad boys. Loved this place. We used to go there often, even back when they served breakfast. The bloody Mary's were the best. We used to come here regularly. I think Becky was the name of the server we used to see often, and she was so friendly and helpful. We loved her. That being said, we probably will not be going back after seeing how the business has handled things politically with the shut down and more recently with the Culp signs being displayed near the front of their business. What a disappointing change. :( I don't know what happened, but I actually looked at the Owner's board a couple of times during dinner to see if there was a new owner. "Blackened" Salmon was just parboiled and sprinkled with paprika. "Caesar" salad was beautifully cut (included thinly sliced roma tomatoes), but then ruined by a dollop of rancid dressing and fake bacon bits. Yuck. Steak was tough and riddled with fat and gristle. Not what we've ever experienced in the last 10 years. We sense this has been a problem for awhile since the parking lot was almost empty and we were the only other couple on a Friday night. The emptiness was not COVID - no one was coming to pick up to-go orders either. Looks like everyone knew of the change before us. So sad, first the Cottage Inn closes and now the Windmill is awful... great steak and seafood in Wenatchee anyone???? read more

I've eaten here as a local on special occasions a few times. It's pricey, but the building is quaint, witresses friendly. But since their disregard for health orders during the pandemic, I will never go here again. This restaurant did a big week-long "defiance" media campaign, packed their reservation list, got Tim Eyman out front, and created a circus for local health officials...then tried to blame the public when they were threatened upon opening by the Liquor Control Board. We were up to Wenatchee for the Apple Blossom Festival. We have been to the Windmill for dinner, but I noticed when we drove in that they were now serving breakfast... So we decided to give it a shot on our way out of town. We were really surprised how good it was. I had the Mill Omelet (See Picture) and it was excellent. I met a couple of my friends here who live in Wenatchee, as this is one of their favorite places to dine, so they're frequent customers. When I parked in the back of the building on the gravel, two of the waitresses were outside on their phone, and kept glaring at me as I was parking and walking towards the building. I wasn't sure if they realized how they looked since they were distracted by whatever their phone call was, but that was pretty rude. But when I walked in the restaurant, to find my friends, one of the waitresses who had been glaring at me minutes before ended up being our server. And of course since my friends are frequent diners here, she was very, very nice to them and after seeing who my company was, she was nice to me. Hah. When I asked what beers were on tap, she mentioned that they do not have any draft beers, but are working on getting that. They only offer a few bottled beers, and after finding out what the beers were - they were all from chain breweries like Anheuser-Busch. They do have a better wine list and cocktail menu. Before your meal comes, they give you pickled vegetables which they will refill if you ask them to. I split an $18 fish and chips plate with my friend, which I thought was overpriced for what it was. They give you four pieces of cod, which look like strips. The batter on the fish was very, very thick, so the fish to batter ratio was not good, and most of the size of the fish came from the coating of the batter. Since I was splitting with my friend, we had two each and I'm hungry all the time, but I left the restaurant feeling I could eat more. Even if you eat the entire plate to yourself, I don't think there is enough protein on the plate for it to be appropriately charged 18 bucks. You're basically filling up on the fries. But the homemade pies were really good! My friend and I split a peanut butter-chocolate pie and it was very light, airy and creamy, kind of like mousse for the filling. I've been visiting the Windmill since 1991, have gone thru several sales and new owners. But something has happened now. I used to plan my sales trips to allow me to be able to eat here. The steaks had been the best I had ever eaten anywhere in the US, now it doesn't compare to the old. Wife and I visited Nov. 2020, she ordered a rib-eye and I had the beef tenderloin. Both steaks had no taste, over cooked, and tasted like a cheap grade of meat. Don't know what happened with the quality, the baked potato and salad dressings are fantastic. We're seared almost immediately on a Sunday night, received our waters and refills but didn't see our waitress for 15 minutes after we were immediately seated. We made a visit to the Windmill Restaurant after driving from Seattle, on Sept. 16th, and had a great meal. We both ordered steaks with Oscar Sauce and we both enjoyed the meal. We also enjoyed the friendly staff and found them to be accommodating and very informed on the menu items. The pour of wine is 8 oz. and not the regular 5 oz. that most places serve. We enjoyed our experience and we intend to come back soon. We both would highly recommend the Windmill if you like steaks, excellent friendly service and health pours of wine. read more

Went there last night for Valentines dinner. On a night where they took no reservations, we were happily surprised to be seated within 15 minutes. My wife and I ordered the Ribeye steaks and our son had the Pesto Primavera. My son's Primavera was fantastic, but the steaks were initially delivered to us Medium Well, not Medium Rare as we ordered. I am quite certain this was due to the fact they were extremely busy, and any kitchen would be challenged to keep up with such high volume. Our server Shannon was perfect in her response to fix this with the kitchen, who graciously offered us to keep the plates while they redid the steaks, which we politely declined. The steaks were ready in a few minutes, with fresh sides. Impressive. Kevin the owner even stopped by after we were served again to make sure we were happy, not just satisfied. The steaks, perfectly cooked this time, were exactly what you want when you order a premium cut at a steakhouse. The sides, baked potato and vegetables were spot on. The coconut cream pie my wife and I shared was quite exceptional. This could have gone the other way, but this restaurant knows exactly how to flow together to create an experience that clearly demonstrates why they are the best place for a steak in Wenatchee. I know the Windmill has been a family favorite for my entire life!! I had no idea they have been a staple in Wenatchee for 90 yrs!!!! I will say that they have had their share of ups and downs over ownership changes etc.....I chalk that up to give the transition time a chance to get up to speed....... It has been over 10 yrs since my last visit, as I moved to the Tri Cities. Came to Wenatchee on Monday with my son. I was so excited to share the Windmill with him. My mother in law was along with us :-) From the very beginning, the experience was what I expected and wanted to share with my son. I dont really recognize the Wenatchee Valley I grew up in, so walking in.....SO many memories came flooding back. Our waitress was just amazing....We were there for the ambiance and amazing steaks (and lobster for me, lol) Never felt rushed....This is still a nostalgic place. It is not Applebees, or any other "chain" restaurant. I was reading the reviews before posting my experience. Most are 5 stars, which I also rated the same for this review. Sounds to me that the folks who are dissing the place....#1: oh the pasta was horrible!!! My suggestion to you.......try Visconti's. #2: complaining about the small venue.......and that it is not "updated"......I would guess these folks, as "worldly" as some try to be were not able to appreciate the history of the Windmill..........I think Applebees, or some "bistro" may be more to your liking. I am sorry but the bad reviews really upset me!! And I wanted to put in my 2 cents worth, as this establishment is not "fast food" or a "chain" establishment!!! My personal review of my "experience".......To dine at the Windmill has always been about the coziness, ambiance of a time long ago, and folks....This is a STEAK house!!! That is what they are known for IMHO........and nobody does those better!! (ask yourself when deciding to come dine here what their specialty is!!) This is a $$$$$ place!!
