I wasn't fond of the port wine Demi glaze but the Asiago ay gratin potatoes were delish the asparagus cooked to perfection ... my wife's Shrimp and risotto sauce was good however her risottos had a lot of crunchy and hard uncooked pieces shrimp was cooked well.... Other friend ordered the shirt Ribs which was really disappointing very over done and dry but the sides were still very good... My wife's friend ordered the oven fried Penne which was pretty decent. Went here on a "double date" on Friday night and I must admit, I was blown away. I had no idea what I was missing! This place is amazing in ambiance, selection, and service. We sat inside, mostly because the outdoor patio was already packed... but no complaints here! The interior is beautiful and romantic. Walls and walls of wines to choose from, sorted by "new world", "old world", and then reds/whites. My boyfriend and I split a Hook and Ladder red blend, and our friends split a Riesling. You get to walk around and literally pick your bottle off the shelf. The whites need a few minutes to chill, but it's not bad and the waitress filled them up after ~8 minutes to hold them over until the entire bottle was cold. I got the "award winning" veal meatball and our friends got the equivalent flatbread. We all loved it. Later I was craving chocolate and split the pot de creme with my boyfriend. Really good, but also very rich and covered in whipped cream. Probably won't get that again... but I still do want to try more things off the menu. The wine flights also looked interesting and I might try one of those next time. The $8 corkage fee was no biggie to me. Our bottle of wine was $18 anyway, so total it's not bad (all bottle sold at state minimum, so they range from $12-$40+). Plus you're paying for the ambiance really. I split the Rustic Antipasto Platter with my husband, and we each had a bowl of French Onion Soup. The platter was a classic "nosh plate" of Asiago cheese, Boursin cheese, salami, grilled country sausage, pepperoni, fire roasted caper peppers, roasted garlic, mixed olives. In spite of our desire to try it this restaurant, neither of us are big fans of wine. My husband was very pleased to find that they also offer a nice selection of beer. I ordered a sangria, which is my favorite way to disguise wine. It was very good. The French Onion Soup had a Provolone and Parmesan crusted top crostini. It was absolutely heavenly! Dessert was Port Wine Soaked Cherry Cheesecake: Vanilla bean bourbon whipped cream cheese, graham cracker crust, warm port soaked cherries. Yum! We will be back. Stopped in to The Wine Bistro for lunch with my wife after a dentist appointment. She got the French Onion soup and one of the flatbreads and I got the soup of the day (Creamy Chicken Noodle) and the chicken bacon panini. Unfortunately, this was not a drinking occasion, but we both said we would like to return one day in the evening for some vino. The food was great, I sampled all of it and it was all delicious. Probably a bit on the pricier side for lunch as the two combos I mentioned above were $11 each, but it is reasonable. The decor is nice, there are hundreds of wine bottles on shelves ready to be popped. Lighting was good. It was not very busy for lunch which also added to a great experience as the wait staff was prompt and timely with everything. I'd bet we will be back when we can do some wine sipping. read more

I went here for a later evening dinner. We ordered a flatbread and the steak with potatoes and asparagus. I was pretty disappointed in the flat bread. It was hard and dry as a cracker, except for some pieces in the middle, which were more soaked through with oil. Flavor was somewhat bland too. My dinner date got the steak, which was overcooked (as compared to how he had ordered it). He thought the potatoes were dry. The asparagus was not impressive. I think the service was good. I was just disappointed in the food. We have been to the Worthington location and had a really good experience there with different dishes. Wide selection of wines at competitive prices. The racking and signage is a bit messed up and you may need some directing. Staff is very nice but if you know your wines may need them to give you some space. The set up is basically a wine store with some tables, a little packed and nothing to write home about. That said the fact it is crowded says folks seem to like it. Food is barely okay, what they provide is a list of average apps that are hit and mainly miss. Nothing great, even the cheese plate, I might give it a 2 for food. Parking can be tough in this area, the lot was full and there is very limited street side parking. A lovely evening dinner with my in-laws, but would love to go back with some of my girlfriends next time I'm in town! Started with a glass of La Forcine while we waited for the rest of our party to arrive. Nice and crisp...very low sugar...really liked it. I enjoyed the tomato soup with a Bistro BLT flatbread. Our party had a mix of flatbreads, salads and sandwiches. Portion size was perfect for me but maybe a bit small for my brother-in-law (but we fed him our leftovers so all ended well). Shared two desserts (a chocolate something or other and a bread pudding) with an after dinner drink and a fine night was had by all. The only thing I didn't love was our server. She was fine but it felt like we waited an awfully long bit sometimes. Didn't seem to have much wine advice for us, either. Oh well. The bottle of Pinot I picked was actually pretty good :) I'll definitely come back with a group so that we can try more variety of apps and wine! read more

For the most part, a good experience. My dad and stepmom (a wine lover) were in town for a visit. It was an OSU home game day and we wanted to pick somewhere that wouldn't be overrun with fans, as they are from out of state and aren't football fans. The Wine Bistro was a great place for that, as it was empty. Nice ambiance here. We sat on the patio, which is a lovely space, and the inside is charming as well. Our lunch was excellent. I had shrimp risotto, which was delicious, and others at my table had salads (which looked excellent--big hunks of blue cheese make me happy) and a crabcake sandwich. Good reviews from everyone. We split the truffle mushroom appetizer and it was great. The wine was fine. I don't have much to say about it, as I'm a beer drinker and know little of wine, but it passed my wine snob mother in law's test, so it was probably pretty solid. My only complaints are about the service of the wine. My wife and I both had flights, so six wine glasses total. Of those six, three of them noticeably had cork floating in them and one had A SHARD OF GLASS. The cork is kind of bad, as I don't expect that from a place that specializes in serving wine, and the glass is really bad. My wife could have been hurt if she hadn't noticed it. It seems fairly careless to serve wine with things floating in it, especially with white wine, where you can see the things pretty clearly. Aside from that, though, we had a nice time and would go back. read more

It's been a while since we'd eaten here, and we did carryout this time, during restaurant week. Carryout is definitely not their strength. Baked Brie was delicious. Winery Salads had almost none of the advertised pecans or cheese. Three orders of the pasta bolognese - all very dry and only one had any meat or cheese, and that one had about two tablespoons of meat. Chocolate Pot-de-creme was more like a chocolate sirup. I hate giving this restaurant low marks. I've been to other locations, usually for lunch, and found it very nice. On this occasion, our service was okay, if a bit slow. The biggest problem to start with was the noise level. We could barely hear what our server was saying. We shared a crab cake appetizer, which ended up being the best part of the meal. I had a house salad, also very good. The bread arrived just before our entrees. My entree was the salmon. It was over cooked, tough, and tasted a bit burnt, though it did not appear to be charred. The two pieces of fish I received looked like something that came frozen out of a plastic pouch. The rice was fine. Small piece of broccolini. No one else at the table exclaimed about their entrees. The woman who had a flatbread liked it, but did not rave. My husband had the short ribs, which were dry. The other person had pasta and did not complain. I ordered the crepe brûlée for dessert. Usually this is a safe choice anywhere. This one, however, was runny. The orange taste was sharp. No whipped cream or fruit topping to moderate the taste. I complained about the texture, demonstrated the drippiness, and we did not pay for it. I suppose that the noise is part of the atmosphere, but when a baby started in crying two tables over while the waitress at the next table over had to yell at her customers in order to be heard, it became too much. When I am paying this much, I don't expect to have to yell. A fun lunch spot, perhaps, if not too crowded, but I won't be having dinner here again. read more

We stopped in on Saturday ~2:30 and it was pretty empty, but even then parking in the back was pretty spotting so I can assume that there will be no open spaces when the restaurant is busy. That said, the restaurant is charming and can be romantic. The seats were close together, but since there was no else dining, it didn't really bother me. We started with the cheese platter--the baguette was warm and delicious, the cheeses were nothing to write home about--I just had an intense craving for a cheese platter. However, I really liked the spiced nuts and special honey. My dining partner got the veal meatball pizza and I got the orchard chicken baguette. He really enjoyed the pizza, and I agree that the veal meatballs are delicious. The sandwich comes with a side salad dressed with a strange "balsamic vinaigrette". I felt that the sandwich was kind of dry, but I don't really like chicken overall, and plus it actually re-heated really well when I had to bring it home. The Wine Bistro has great service and surprisingly good food. I felt weird being there and not getting alcohol so I ordered wine by the glass and I think it was kind of expensive so I would recommend just buying a bottle and re-corking it (free re-corking Mon and Tues). read more

My family went to this restaurant because of the high reviews. I am very surprised how it was rated because we had a horrible experience. When we arrived the restaurant was pretty empty. It still took several minutes before they could figure out where to seat us even though we had a reservation. The waiter came over after a few minutes and seemed annoyed that we weren't ready to order our dinner. He was about to walk away when I had to stop him and ask if I could at least place a drink order. I was shocked that this place is called The Wine Bistro and the wine menu is very slim. The waiter didn't seem to know much about the wine selection that there was. It took about 25 minutes for the food to come. The restaurant was maybe 1/4 way full so we were shocked it took that long. The waiter was never around for us to ask where it was. When the food came my daughter's plate did not sit flat in the table. It was s wobbly dish. She had the penne alla vodka with chicken. There was barely any chicken in it. It was also cold so my daughter told the waiter. He stuck his finger in it to check it out. She called him out on this and told him she wanted a whole new dish. I couldn't believe he actually had to check for himself. He had the nerve to say it wasn't that cold. My husband got a burger and asked for it medium rare. It came medium well he didn't send it back because it took long to get it in the first place. I got a chicken dish that was way too salty but I also didn't want to wait forever to get another dish. I was also surprised about the size of the dishes. All of the orders came out on plates the size of appetizer plates. Definitely not worth the money. The only thing that came quickly was the bill. When the waiter came to the table he asked us if we wanted the bill or do we want dessert. In most restaurants I find they ask about dessert first or if we want anything else. It made me feel as if he was ready for us to leave since we had a late reservation. I come to Columbus a lot and have always found the food to be great. This restaurant is definitely taken off the list for future visits and I will negatively recommend it to the people I know who come to Columbus to visit their kids at the university. read more

Their seasoned popcorn (sounds random) is a must try and super addictive! I highly recommend the Brie appetizer, flatbreads and French onion soup. My two friends and I ventured to Wine Bistro for Columbus Restaurant Week. Our whole meal from start to finish was a disaster. We arrived (with a reservation) 5 minutes early and our table was not ready. We got a seat about 15 minutes late, and it took another 15 minutes to even see a server. We ordered our first course, but did not have enough silverware to eat so finally after 10 minutes I just walked up to the bar and asked a bartender. Twenty minutes went by (mind you, it is 9:15PM on a work night) and we never placed our dinner order. Once again, I got up and got a manager who took our order. I got the Winery Salad and Oven Fired Penne. The only reason this got 3 stars was because the food was excellent. The pasta was creamy and warm, but had tomatoes to give it a fresh flavor. The salad was flavorful and they did not skim on toppings. When it came time for dessert, we were informed that they were out of one of the options (there is only two for Restaurant Week). One of the individuals in our party had a nut allergy and the only other option they gave us also had nuts. They would not offer the cheesecake (same price so I am not sure why), so she basically had to order coffee. The food was 5/5, but the service was 1/5. Our server was really great and friendly, but she had 2, 8+ people parties plus several other tables so I really think that one is on the management. read more

Hosting a UYE here at the suggestion of Ms. C, I was impressed and am now a fan. A few misteps led me to a 4 star review, but overall, I will be happily returning, hopefully many times. This place was busy for a Tuesday, and I know why. Because it's a great place! I'd like to start with the issues I had. 1) With all of the staff wearing 'very nice, but essentially street clothes', it was difficult to determine who was staff and who was wandering or standing around. For instance, I had no idea the hostesses were the two girls chatting at the cash register desk until they asked if I'd been helped. 2) One of our group sat without a glass until I got up to get him one and the table was similarly upprepared with silverware and plates. These things were easliy rectified and really not a problem, but noticed. 3) There was a pricing issue with ourfinal bill. It was corrected after the server verified that she, in fact, did ring it wrong. Again, just a small issue corrected with a smile. 4) The flatbread crust was way over browned, cooked to a hard cracker consistency and the color of dark brown sugar, I am pretty sure that's not typical of a flatbread. It still tasted good and toppings were well dispersed, but the toppings weren't very hot compared to the crust being so over done. Weird! OK, I'm over complaining. Here's what's awesome about The Wine Bistro. 1) Great ambiance. 2) Comfortable Environment 3) Attentive, friendly, knowledgable service. She was able to suggest and educate without being a know-it-all. She made the experience easy and fun. 4) Yummy Wine Service. So many wines to choose from, you can actually shop for your bottle and the cork is for you for an $8 fee Weds-Sat. Monday and Tuesday, they wave the fee. 5) State minmum pricing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My bottle was only $12.99 and it tasted great. 6) the salads looked amazing, so I want to try more of the food. 7) It's an overall great spot for groups, dates, friends, and family! This place is such a fun little gem in the Upper Arlington neighborhood. The decor and ambiance is very comfy and inviting. They have over 1,200 bottles of wine in the walls that they encourage you to get up and take a look at. You can either drink your wine there or take it it to go. My first impression was great, the interior was well design, bottles lined wall and were very well organized. The prices of wine were well priced. My only issue was their service. I purchased a bottle of wine and immediately the waitress opened the bottle having no glass, which isnt a big deal till she forgot about it completely, so i sat there unable to drink anything. A friend finally went to the bar and grabbed a glass from my waitress behind the bar. The waitress didn't acknowledge anything and it was kinda of joke around the table. I politely asked the waitress for a glass of water and again never received it. My friends were shock and we created it as a game as to how long it took till the waitress figure out I still don't have water. They kinda egged me on and laughed ever time she came around the table, filling other peoples glass of water and clearing the table on either side of me, ignoring me completely. Well i gave up and had to pour my own from a stand next to the door because i was getting really thirsty. I really like this place and glad i got a opportunity to try this out with a few other friends. However my experience wasn't the greatest. We went here for a delicious date. The no corking fee Monday/Tuesday was a great surprise and we ordered a very nice Pinot Gringos. We followed that with the olive appetizer, the olives were very good, but would have been better with a little bread to cut the saltiness. I then got the almost famous meatball which was fantastic and my wife got the california chicken salad. The food was good, though the salad wasn't memorable. Our only complaint was the service. We first off had a hard time spotting them since they were dressed up less than most of the guest. Then it could be cause they were a bit busy and it was loud there, but our server forgot about us after she took our order. Well definitely go back, hopefully we'll not be forgotten. We came here for restaurant week and got to try an appetizer, entree and a dessert for only $25. It was delicious. I had the meatball for the appetizer, the short rib with mushroom risotto and snap peas for the entrée, and it was a triple chocolate cake for dessert. It really tasted like fudge with whip cream and a few strawberries on top, it was a little too rich for me. My favorite was probably the meatball. The server , Grant, was super knowledgeable about every wine we asked him about and gave us suggestions on what to eat- gave detailed descriptions on what the entrees tasted like. I was impressed with this place and it takes a lot to impress me. The Cajun shrimp and citrus risotto was fabulous! My boyfriend loves the short rib and mushroom risotto. Hummus trio appetizer was tasty. Both times I've been here, wonderful service-really friendly. Tomato soup, crab cakes, and the chop chop salad were also delicious. The food was really good but over priced. My meatball sandwich was low on meatball. The girlfriend liked her crab cakes. For the prices they could hire a cleaning crew. Dust everywhere. Lamps, lighting fixtures and surfaces. Does this indicate the cleanliness of the kitchen? The carpet in the sitting area needs replaced as the corner sticks up. Someone will fall eventually. This place was very expensive. I ordered the shrimp and risotto for 17 dollars and when it arrived on a small square plate with six pieces of shrimp I knew I had made a mistake. The dish was flavored well and tasted good but for 17 dollars I expect more than six pieces of shrimp on a bed of rice. My girlfriend got a chicken Waldorf sandwich which tastes good but only contained small slices of chicken. With the sandwich came a 3 inch wide bowl with a few chips in it. I also ordered a glass of Cabernet not looking at the menu, only later did I find out that the glass of wine cost 13 dollars. Definitely not a place to go if you're hungry or want to get the most for your dollar. read more
