The Wine Seller was one of the most unique and fun shop experiences my wife and I have had in recent memory. If you enjoy any type of wine and you're in the area, you need to stop in and check this place out. It is a great experience. My wife and I have recently started exploring different sparkling wines and champagnes. After reading this business' website (check out their website, it's great and a really fun read worth your time) I knew we had to stop into The Wine Seller and check it out. We were not disappointed! This business is all about it's owner, Joe and that is what makes it so spectacular is Joe's passion for everything wine. I generally hate talking to people, especially in a sales environment. When we first walked in, I was overwhelmed by just how marvelous this place was with thousands of different bottles from around the world you could feast your eyes on. I was expecting to be approached at any moment by someone wanting to engage me in a sale, but the owner was so cool just politely telling us to please look around and ask any questions if we have them. I really loved how low stress and good vibes this shop was as I spent a good 10-15 minutes just browsing how beautiful this shop was and orienting myself to everything in there. Thanks to Joe's website, we walked in with a list of stuff were looking for. Eventually because there was so much in there, eventually we just asked him to help us find the stuff on our list. He was so cool patiently taking us through the sections of his store we were interested in and helping us to find the different things on our list. Really great energy and within a few moments both my wife and I were loving talking to him about everything wine. We walked out of Joe's shop with some great purchases and we had a lot of fun in there and learned a lot about wine. If you're in the area, you should definitely pop in and check this shop out. It's beautiful, unique and a great experience. This shop is also in a great kind of tourist-y area with shops, restaurants, a coffee shop and the beautiful Port Townsend beach/main drag right there. Huge inventory of wine, knowledgeable help and fair prices. They also have a selection of cheeses and other items not readily available in other stores. Port Townsend is a delightful small town with some great restaurants and wonderful stores. A stop at the Wine Seller is a must stop. read more

What a great wine shop! The Wine Seller carries a wide range of wines from the very affordable $8 range up to spendy vintages. I saw several bottles I normally buy at the grocery store and they were very similarly priced here at The Wine Seller. I picked up a 2009 Italian red and the shop owner told me it was one of his favorite wines and he enjoyed it often. He said that for the price ($10) he normally reaches for this bottle over the $30 bottle of the same year because of its affordability and great taste. This is my kind of wine! If you are looking for a special bottle you are sure to find one here. They have a small cooler filled with specialty cheeses and goodies to pair with your wine. Overall The Wine Seller is a wonderful wine shop with reasonable prices. I'd visit here any day over picking up a bottle at the store. read more

Oh puns. They're both awesome and terrible at the same time. Would I ever name a business using a pun? Probably not, but that's just me. I don't think I'd ever be able to take the business seriously enough. Plus the same pun over and over after a while gets tired. Puns aside, the Wine Seller is a very impressive wine shop, especially for its location out in the wilds of Port Townsend. This little store is not only stacked to the gills with wines, but offers a surprisingly deep and varied collection that includes many wines that you don't often see sitting on shelves outside of wineries or regional wine stores. Beyond the fantastic selection of wines, this shop serves up a fun mish-mash of specialty salts, beers, and other sorts of gourmet items. I could easily spend a grip of ends in here just on the sideline merch, not even getting in to how much I could blow if I stuck around long enough to do some serious browsing. Piles of boxes on the floor sport intriguing collections of bottles. The organization system is a tad hard to decipher but not so confusing as to make browsing a pain. And the notion that I'm going to find some incredibly interesting stuff in the stacks makes me want to come back and spend some solid time digging. Overall, a great wine shop. A little cramped, but a downright fun place to pick through for anyone who is in to wine. read more

I was in Port Townsend this last weekend and went to one of the twice a month wine tastings here- They were pouring Washington Wines, several I had not had before - The shop was a-buzz with people and as we circled the shop tasting our wines, I noticed they carry a real broad spectrum of wines from around the world- from 2 bottles of cheap red for $7 to one fine bottle for $$$$. Something for everyone! Joe Euro, the owner has been there for years and run this shop successfully, catering to all tastes. Please stop in there for a bottle or 2 next time you are in Pt Townsend- I think you'll agree! read more

I really would like to rate this place better, considering their amazing selection. Can't beat it, honestly, which is why I'm giving this place two stars instead of one. I am going to school to study wine and am eager to learn, I just started last quarter. So I'm new to the industry and love to ask questions. However, the woman who was "helping" us, was, I felt, condescending and corrected my mistakes/answered my questions in a very unkind tone. As if everyone shopping in her store should know everything when it comes to wine, just like she does. I bought some wine, only because I was super excited about it, despite her snarky attitude. Very few stores carry Chianti in the straw baskets. Since I prefer the brands that do for my sauces and other recipes, I stock up when I find them. By chance the Wine Seller had 2 bottles left so I snatched them up quickly. Prices there are very reasonable and there's nice variety of spirits to choose from. The clerk is very knowledgeable and takes you to the items rather than pointing to them as some stores do. read more

I have never been to the actual shop in Port Townsend. But I did have an amazing business interaction with the owner over the phone. My parents were celebrating their 40th anniversary in Port Townsend and I wanted to send a congratulatory bottle of champagne to the hotel they were staying at (The Harborside Inn). The nearest store to the hotel was the Wine Seller. I called around 6pm and spoke with the owner about delivering a bottle to the Harborside Inn. He was more than accommodating and super helpful in choosing a bottle of champagne within my price range. He personally delivered it with a card to the hotel by 8pm. My parents were thrilled with the champagne, he even chilled it for them before delivering it! The next time I'm in Port Townsend, I will be sure to stop in the Wine Seller! read more

Loved stumbling on this place as I was waiting for dinner a few doors down. I was pleased to see really exciting winemakers represented here at different price levels and so much choice was available. It took me some time to make a choice but I didn't feel rushed. Loved the Ken Wright wine I picked up and appreciated the owner's help/insights on minimal intervention winemakers. I'll be definitely back when I'm back in town soon! read more

We drive out to Port Townsend from Seattle at least two or three times a year to stock up on a few cases of our favorite wines that we can only find at The Wine Seller. Joe and his team always provide courteous and helpful service for all our needs, and we look forward to their Friday wine tastings to learn about Joe's latest finds. read more

The Wine Seller is about as fantastic a local wine shop as you're likely to find. Joe has an incredible selection, the staff is knowledgeable, and you can get better bottles at cheaper prices than you'll find at the grocery store (particularly if you join the "Wineaux Club", which I recommend). My favorite place to pick up wines and cheeses around these parts. It's really about the variety of prices on the wines and the quality of service provided here. Great place to browse around looking for good wines. Most of the bottles have good hand written descriptions on them and the guy working the counter (pretty sure it was the owner every time I've been) has been fantastic in giving me advice on new bottles to try. Plus, I like to get a big ol chunk of cheese and wandering around the city munching on it. Love it. read more

I really like this wine store! I have talked to the owner, Joe, on two occasions and have found him to be a great guy...so knowledgeable and genuinely fun to talk to. My husband and I stop here whenever we're over from Seattle and we always pick up a bottle or two based on his recommendations. Yes, it's a little cramped, but I find it charming. The layout of the store and sheer quantity of selection can certainly be overwhelming if you don't know much about wine. But if that's the case, just start talking to the people who work there and they'll steer you in the right direction. And they'll do it all without being snooty or condescending. :-) read more

Stellar selection of wines and some nice, knowledgeable folks manning the floor and counter. Some interesting older bottles upstairs and scattered throughout the store as well as some interesting prints and wine-related tchotchkes. It's nice to know that if I'm ever staying in that neck of the peninsular woods, I won't be wanting for good wine. read more
