Update 12/03/24: I was looking to have an order delivered and after viewing their online menu, I had a couple of questions to ask before I could decide if this establishment still offered food options which I could consume. I called and spoke with Wong, and he assured me they still offer gluten-free items. I then asked if they have Pho Ga (chicken broth with chicken as the protein), as I am not a fan of Pho Bo (beef broth with beef as the protein). He said it's not on the menu, but when placing the online order, I could select Beef Pho and add notes stating I wanted chicken broth and chicken as the protein, so that is what I did. I also ordered a gluten-free veggie roll, and had it delivered. The food arrived before the expected delivery time, which was a plus. When I opened my containers, I was surprised and disappointed that the broth was not the chicken broth I ordered, but beef instead. They do offer chicken and rice soup on the menu, so I assumed they had chicken broth, especially after I was instructed to add the instruction notes to my order. The noodles, chicken, and accompaniments were all fresh, but all thrown together in one big pile in the container. This is more of a preference thing for me, as I am accustomed to having them all separate, but this is not a deal breaker by any means. I must say, the chicken was truly divine, succulent even, very moist, and that is difficult to manage for chicken breast. I did try the beef broth, and I did not like it. The gluten-free veggie roll was all grease, I took one bite and the grease oozed out of it. Needless to say it was placed in the bin. We drove from Louisville to try The Wok after hearing about it from TikTok. Everything was made fresh to order and tasted delicious! The staff were very nice and even talked to us for a while. We will definitely come back the next time we're in town. 10/10! read more

My friend and I decided to eat out after work today. Since we were on this side of town we opted for The Wok. She had lo mein noodles with no veggies but extra mushrooms and beef. I went with the marinated Kung Pao chicken and lo mein noodles. Her food smelled amazing and it looked tasty too. She said it was pretty good . Mine was definitely amazing , we could hear the cook using the wok while we waited. I'm not sure what people are talking about in reference to tasting something on the chemical side because both of us thought the food was hot and fresh tasting . The guy at the counter was super friendly and nice enough to bring our food to the table . There are several tables to sit at and dine in if that's what you wish to do . We were the only ones there around 3:30 pm. We did see another customer walk out on our way in. I'd eat there again and so would my friend . read more

I just ordered from here today for lunch because it's the closest Chinese restaurant to my office. I was very pleased with the ordering process and it was delivered within 20 mins... need to mention, my office is 5 mins away from this place. My order and rating is we follows: Hot n Sour Soup: 0/5... I've never had such a soup.. it was like somebody had dumped a cup of sugar in it!!! Had literally 5-6 slithers of ginger and a piece of spring/onion. Nothing else! Just sickly sweet gravy type texture.. didn't even resemble a broth and certainly didn't have a soupy look .. or taste! Sweet n Sour Chicken with Low Mein: 2/5... the low mein were like regular low mein. The sweet n sour chicken had ample pineapple, hence the rating of 2. Chicken was very tough and chewy and the gravy tasted sweet .. no sourness there. Thai Fries: 0.5/5... very disappointing! I was most excited about this but instead of having chili on them, they used sweet chili sauce and sooo much that the fries were not only sweet but soggy and limp. :( Overall, a very disappointing experience. read more

I have celiac disease and haven't been able to eat general tso chicken in YEARS. Today I was able to and was even able to get an egg roll. The servers are very knowledgeable of the menu and can make accommodations to many things, making them gluten free. I can't recommend this place enough. read more

Chinese food is a little hard to screw up, in my opinion, but the food here just wasn't good. I ordered Kung Pao Chicken. Ive had it dozens of times, so very familiar with what it should taste like. It tasted like vinegar. About 5 peanut halves. Just a terrible taste. My daughter ordered Mongolian Beef. It looked ok and tasted ok, but a very small portion, for an "upcharge" for the beef. My son ordered chicken fried rice. Chicken, rice, large onions was about it. No egg, carrots, peas, or other things you might expect in a good chicken fried rice. My son ate about half. WOWZA! It looked like a hole in the wall from the outside but lit up our tastebuds like the finest cuisine. From the first bite of an egg roll (it's ok if you are vegan - no egg in the eggroll) my hubby and I knew we'd be back. Something for everyone on this menu.... seriously. The egg rolls are made in-house as are all the sauces. We ate at the cafe but bought extra egg rolls to take home and share with our adult daughter (who is a bit hard to impress); she immediately asked, 'Where is this place?'. We will buy extras to freeze next time, since we live over 3 hours away. Stop by and try this place out folks. It is truly amazing. The owner talked with us as we ate and he's been gluten free for 6 yrs, so he was very knowledgeable about what was safe for those of us that need GF. My husband and I ordered carry out from The Wok for the first time and we were super disappointed. Our order included Mongolian with steak, sesame chicken, pot stickers, egg rolls, and potstickers. All items were either too sweet or included a sauce that was too sweet. Specifically, the Mongolian beef and egg drop soup were so sweet they were not edible. I absolutely loved Pete's Wok, so when I heard that he was retiring, I was bummed. Not to fret though, the location was quickly remodeled and rebranded. The menu is still similar, but the new owner is Huang. I think Pete must've shared his greatness with Huang, or else he was born with it. Whatever it is, you can find his culinary goodness here! I love the remodel. It has a clean and spotless feel. The red walls and moral are a nice touch. It's a lot classier than you would find in a carry-out kind of place, which was what Pete was known for. Initially I ordered the Drunken Noodles, but then I noticed the hibachi was the special listed overhead. I've had hibachi at both upscale and fast casual places, and this was some of the best. You can choose from chicken, steak, or shrimp hibachi. I chose the steak, and I was not disappointed. It was a pretty big portion! The steak tips were thick and tasty. I loved the ginger soy marinade in the dish. The vegetables, zucchini, onions and mushrooms were all fresh. I'm super picky about my mushrooms, and the ones in this dish were on point! read more

I saw the reviews for this place and had to check it out. I drive by often, but didn't realize it was a new place. I usually am a little wary of " fusion" but I am glad I tried it. I grew up with several Vietnamese friends, and their grandma's cooking, so I'm very particular about Vietnamese food. I don't really know what is supposed to be good or not, but I do know if it tastes like the yummy food I had as a kid or not. This place was great, and around the corner from me, so I will be stopping in regularly. I am not gluten free and they have options. I am a little sensitive to msg, and I read they do not use it. I don't have that weird feeling after stuffing myself, so that must be true. Because of all the reviews, I tried the phorito, which is not on the menu but by request. I don't eat steak, and the cook was more than happy to modify mine with tofu. It was great! My family ordered the spring rolls and Singapore noodles, which were also very good. The spring rolls were as delicious as the ones I crave from favorite place I go to in the St. Pete Beach area every couple years. I seriously might stop in just to get those for a snack. read more

The Wok is located in the spot where Pete's Wok use to be, but they are not the same business. I came here for one specific thing...Pho-ritto. It is like a big bowl of pho was drained and wrapped in a burrito shell. Then served with a side of Pho broth to dip it in. It has all the yummy flavors you get in a big bowl of Pho, but in a hand held portable meal. It is worth the trip. While I was there I talked to Huang the owner. He is a great guy and doing great things. His marketing of The Wok on Facebook is great. Every picture he posts of his food makes me so hungry which is the perfect way to advertise. If you are in the area of Broadway and Waller, stop by and see him. You won't regret it. read more

Ok, I'm going to preface this by saying that I did not realize that this was an Asian Fusion style restaurant when I ordered food from here. Pete's Wok was my favorite Chinese restaurant and when I saw The Wok in its place I just assumed it was a similar Chinese restaurant and placed my usual order of fried rice and Kung Pao pork. I didn't even look at the new menu. That was my mistake. That being said, unfortunately I didn't like what I ordered. The bacon in the fried rice gave it an odd taste. The sauce for the Kung Pao pork was not like any Kung Pao sauce I've ever had from anywhere- and not in a good way. Some of the different options (I saw a pho burrito when I looked the menu on another review) might be great. But I don't know that I would recommend the traditional Chinese stuff if you're expecting normal Chinese food flavors. read more

Ordered takeout when I was craving Chinese food on a late Monday night and everything else was closed or closing. I ordered hot and sour soup, 2 egg rolls, General Tso Chicken, and Drunken Noodles (not Chinese but I figured I would try it anyway). Price was great for the amount of food. Flavor was not quiet right, not like any other Chinese (or Thai) food I've had. I did not like the egg rolls or the General Tso. The soup was weirdly sweet--like broth added to chili sauce--and the Drunken Noodles were not good either. All of it tasted more Chinese-inspired than actually seasoned properly. We talked to the owner for a while and he was SO kind and passionate, and happy to offer so many gluten free options to the community. Wanted to try out the place after hearing some pretty good things! As soon as me and my friend walked in, we were greeted by the cashier (Michael) who was phenomenal the whole experience! I ordered the drunken noodle and my fried ordered fried rice. We both thought our meals were great and very fairly priced. Our food was ready and taken to our table almost instantaneously after ordering. Even though business picked up a fair amount while were there, Michael was very attentive and respectful to us and everyone else needing service. We'll definitely be back! Second time trying The Wok after a poor experience the first time. Food was okay this go-around, perhaps not my preference. Lo mein noodles were too soft for my liking, however, the pork was amazing... smoked beautifully. One thing I noticed is an employee touching the handle of a rice cooker while also putting his hand on top of the rice he just placed in the container, without gloves. I love asian fusion so when I saw the reviews I knew I had to try. First off the prices are unheard of for Lexington and you get really big portions too. I can eat one dinner and then have some left over for lunch. I really like the drunken noodles. And egg rolls yum! Also tried the chicken fried rice and general tso. You really can't go wrong with what you order. Family owned and operated this local Lexington restaurant is the perfect option for lunch or dinner to go or dine in.
