This school was recommended to me through a friend of a friend. I looked them up online and then sent them an email with a few questions. I quickly received a detailed and concise response back from Chiqui. I had a window of time where I would be able to attend the class and she worked with me to get me in at that time. I had also called and talked to Elaine to ask a few questions, once again got a level of professionalism that showed me they loved what they do. Once I got enrolled and showed up to my first day I was learning what I wanted to within 5 minutes of walking in the door. I can't say enough about the instructors. They lay down the science behind metallurgy, electricity, and molten metal so that anyone can understand. Randy, and Chris were my instructors when I first started. They would show me how to do a specific procedure or welding position and then watch and coach me while I was trying to replicate what they did. They give great feedback and instructions. They will have you make small changes that make BIG differences in the outcome of your welds. After about a week of me being there they hired a new instructor, Art. Art has 30 years experience as a welder and has a ton of great advice. Art and Chris worked with me on my stance and my welds improved ten fold. They also have another employee named Alex who helps run the machines and also has years of experience as a welder. He would swing by and give me little tips and tricks that helped. All of them will also come by on your down time and are extremely personable. They will share experiences from when they were in the field and things to look out for that only years of experience would prepare you for. I had an absolutely incredible experience here. I never really felt like I was at school, even though I learned an immense amount of information. Even the other students that come from all walks of life are helpful and cordial. I bought a welding hood and Chris helped me set it up, I asked about Carbon Air Gouging and he set up a demo to show how it worked. The amount of experience is astounding. Once again, the entire staff from the front office to the shop has a passion for this school and it shows in how they treat people. This will transmit to your quality of education. I could go on and on about my experience here but anyone reading this review should just go see for yourself. I am really hoping to go back someday to learn some more. read more

If you want to learn how to weld, this is the place to go. I have never done TIG welding before in my life. In just 40 hours, I became D9.1 certified. I searched for over 4 years for a school. Randy is the owner. As he is one of the pioneers of microscopic welding, he teaches because he loves to see people succeed, no matter were they came from, or what troubles they might have had in the past. If you like to weld, all you need to succeed here is a pulse, and they will do the rest. When randy is not breaking down science, physics, and chemistry into a language anyone can actually understand, the other instructor on the floor, is Chris. Boy i cant say enough about Chris. This guy, like Randy, wants nothing more than to teach you what he knows, and only hopes to see you do it better. Good luck. I can say that there is not a more hands on knowledgeable duo anywhere. I hope one day to be as constistant and even half as knowledgeable as either one of these guys. One thing is for sure, when you leave, you have all the tools you need to succeed. This school also wkrks with your schedual should you have priorities to fulfill, as most of us do. Knowing what i know now, this school dam near breaks even, as the materials you use per hour seem more than you pay. The equipment is plentiful, and state of the art. My only regret, is that i cant seem to make enough money to retire and just go to school full time over and over again at this facility ! I can't wait to one day return soon. As an educator in both the University and Community College environment; I have a strong understanding of teaching methodology and pedagogy. That being said, recently I attended the Welding Skills Workshop where I earned my 3G and 4G welding certificate. I had the opportunity of attending the Community College where I am an adjunct professor; however, I quickly realized this program was not only impacted (too many students with not enough resources to adequately acquire the skills necessary for certification), but the instructor(s) were lacking the skills necessary to adequately teach students the necessary skills to "earn" their certification and obtain meaningful employment. In fact, I found their teaching to be one step above what students receive at Occupational Training Centers. The professors (that is what they are) at the Welding Skills Workshop are experts in their field. Randy, Chris, and Art each bring impressive bona fides and skills to their instruction; which is both hands on and classroom oriented. I was impressed by their level of professionalism, skills, patience, and their limitless ability to help students acquire the skills necessary to conquer the labor market. Therefore, I would strongly advise anyone desiring welding certification to save their money, and not waste valuable time by attending a Community College or Occupational Center welding program. Students would be better served by using their time and money at the Welding Skills Workshop. Not only will students obtain their certification in an accelerated program; as opposed to taking up to two years at a Community College or Occupational Center, the cost, if you apply dollar cost saving principles is significantly less burdensome read more

My experience at Welding Skills Test and Training Center was overwhelmingly amazing. They offer detailed, hands on training in every type of welding process, all on state of the art, well maintained equipment. Personally, I took the Longshoreman Program, (AWS D 1.1 3G & 4G stick arc welding). It was clear from day one that every step of the program had been thoroughly planned and designed with the ultimate goal of creating a competent and confident welder capable of not only passing the certification exams but one who could then be an instant asset to any company looking to hire a certified welder. Going into the program initially, I was a little skeptical that all of that was possible in a relatively short amount of time. Boy was I mistaken! Randy and Chris will teach you the skills and background knowledge, that when followed correctly, will enable anyone to learn the processes quickly yet completely. I owe everyone at this school a debt of gratitude, from the front office staff for being so flexible and working with my schedule, to the instructors themselves for putting up with my millions of questions and never making me feel like any of them were dumb, (I know some were). Man I don't even know where to start. This is coming from someone who never heard of the word "welding", who never welded before in his entire life. I was that kid that before he found this school, had no skills and felt completely lost in life. Two months ago I attended this program and today August 28th of 2020, I was hired by a company as a Fabricator and Welder. I'm 21 years years old about to make $18 dollars an hour to do something I enjoy everyday!!! When I first talked to Randy I didn't have to think twice about whether or not I wanted to go to this place. This guy is brilliant and he's not out to get your money. He wouldn't talk to me about prices or teach me anything until I told him what I wanted to do and where I wanted to go with this welding thing. That should tell you this guy cares a lot about your success in this field. It would hurt him inside if you just gave him money to teach you something but then you didn't get anything or anywhere out of it. So if you're really serious about wanting a solid career and not starving, there's a shortage of welders so there is a place for YOU in this job field, then go to this school and get your certifications. I'd give this place 10 stars if it was possible! After attending 4 semesters at Orange Coast College's welding program and fighting 25 or 30 students for "1" instructors time I found my skill level getting nowhere fast.. Not to mention how jacked up the school system is with not having enough credits to take the classes you want is BS.. I won't get into that. When I first called Welding Skills I was lucky to have one of the instructors pick up as he was passing the phone, I explained to Chris my situation and how i needed my 3G & 4G welding certs, after we chopped it up he told me to come in so he could see my skill level and quote me from there.. After showing him what I knew he then told me he could have me complete my 3 and 4G certs in 1 week and 3 days.. First 3 days were 6 hour days and the rest of the week I was there for 8 hours a day.. Let me tell you I got more than I paid for.. What you'll be receiving here is the real deal! The faculty here is the best and super cool! BEST WELDING SCHOOL in southern California hands down!!! I learned a great deal from Randy and Chris over the 3 week I attended for the Longshoreman program. They really do take the time to make sure you know to weld before you leave there. This school isn't like others where you practice welding just for the plate test. They actually teach rod manipulation in different welding angles and scenarios that you might come across in the field. I can truly say one of the biggest thing i took away from the instructors Randy and Chris is how to read the weld puddle to the T. I ended up finishing the Longshoreman program earlier then expected and was able to not only get my 3G and 4G SMAW certification for structural steel but my 3G FCAW structural steel and Sheet Metal Certification. It was a very challenging experience and was well worth my money and time. I would recommend this school highly to anyone that is interested in learning to weld. I am an experienced AWS Welder and I was looking to take the LA City certification. I researched different training centers in the Los Angeles area but none compared to Welding Skills Test and Training Center. From the first time I spoke to Randy McClure, I knew he was the real deal. He is an encyclopedia of welding knowledge. I was also impressed by the shop, welding equipment and the small class size, which I knew there would be a lot of one-on-one instruction. I decided that this was the place for me, so I enrolled in the Code Book Clinic. In just 6 weeks of training, Randy guided me and helped me learn to navigate the code book. I'm not going to lie, it was difficult but with the guidance, training and studying, I was able to pass the LA City Certification test. This group of incredible people pushed and helped me get my d1.1structual steel welding cert. The first and only school I know where the instructors are in your booth taking their time explaining the material that way you completely understand what you're doing. For 9 hours+ these incredible guys are giving you they're full attention, now they have other students they may not be in your booth all day holding your hand but they sure try too. You sure do pay for what you get and more! What better place to go to then a place where the instructors eat breath and dream welding, they love what they do and they damn sure know what theyre doing. I never write reviews but after completing the program here I knew I had to. After visiting a couple different welding schools I came across this place, I sat down with Randy and Chris (the instructors) and we went step by step of where I want to be in life and how I can get there. I ended up taking the longshoremen program combined with the LA cert written course and I couldn't be happier with my decision to choose this facility. They are both very hands on and will do everything they can to help you pass, not only do they care about welding but everyone at the business genuinely cares about each and every student there. They perfectly work around your schedule and at your own pace. I know without this school I wouldn't be where I am today, I couldn't thank them enough. A custom 4-day training and certification program was chosen from the many options they offer. The staff here are very professional, Randy Chris and Elaine all represented their good reviews 100%. The lecture material is professionally built very easy to read and understand, Randy and Chris are very positive with their instruction they are quick to correct any procedural and technique problems you may be demonstrating, without their professional help I can say that I would not have passed my 3-G tests on the first try. To say that Randy and Chris are great instructors is a gross understatement. The wealth of knowledge and experience between the two of them is infinite. Chris has been welding since before he could walk (I believe he welded his own crib together) and Randy helped build the Empire State Building. Just completed my initial 16 hour training for MIG. Really happy with the experience. Going to do the 40 hour TIG training and get a job. Having Randy and Chris watch and give immediate feedback really helped me improve the quality of my welds. Everyone working here is nice and supportive and I feel confident with my skills. Definitely recommend. A few words about the instructors. Both Randy and Chris are very personable. Randy is the owner. They are very experienced and knowledgeable. I didn't know anything about welding when I contacted .... welding school. The only thing I knew was that I needed to get an LA county welding license. When I contacted the school the women at the front desk were extremely knowledgeable about the license I needed and the steps I needed to take to get it. I met with the owner/ teacher Randy who assured me he would get me through all the certificates and the LA license quickly and cheaper than any other school. I came to this school not knowing what to expect and came out a certified welder. Randy and Chris are the two instructors there and they both make a good first impression, friendly, easygoing, and pleasant to be around. Their number one goal is for you to succeed and make the time you spent there enjoyable. Great school did a lot of research before landing here and all I here was right. They really help you understand the process and the science behind what your doing. For someone who was new to the industry they really taught me more then I needed, but it gave me a lot of confidence in the real world knowing everything they've showed me. They work closely with you and answer any questions you have without prejudice makes you really comfortable in the learning. They will run you through the ringer by way of welds and angles which at the time didn't appreciate as much as I should but it has paid off so much since. This is by far the best school of any kind that ive been too. I came in knowing nothing and walked out with about 2 years worth of knowledge in three weeks.
