The American Dream mall location is crowded with loud club music playing in the restaurant. If you're going out with friends, then it's ok choice, but this is not family-friendly. The server never checked the food I received and also the extra ordered item never arrived at my table, but they changed it for me. No need to argue for $4.99, so just pay a lower tip to the server. Absolutely delicious! A black owned cafe that serve brunch and lunch/dinner. The service was very nice and food came out fast. My friends and I walked to the Yard on a hungover Sunday morning, I ordered the Sa(L)mon cakes with two eggs. Drove all the way from NYC to try that famous Oxtail Burger. We were seated promptly. Appreciated the music and vibes. The waitress was so sweet. When our order was brought out, I appreciated that they gave us cups of all their sauces to try. The Oxtail Burger is topped with their Masala Sauce.. sooo good. This hidden gem in Newark is delicious. The staff is courteous and helpful. The wait was pretty short even though there was a steady stream of people coming. Thaddeus was our server and he was absolutely amazing, he is not only polite and friendly but being new to the area he not only recommended what to order, but he offered us family games to play while we wait, and recommended things to do for my husband our kids and I. he deserves all the praises! if you are on the fence about going. you absolutely should try it!! My family and I came in from out of town for the night and WOW this place knocked it out of the park. All four of us ordered something different, and each of us raved about our burgers throughout the meal. They really take the time to season everything perfectly. I got lost a little bit looking for this spot, but I found it. This is now my FAVORITE spot. I love the intimacy of this place. The vibes are great. The staff is incredibly warm and welcoming. The food is top notch! I got the Shrimp Burger and it was PHENOMENAL. Served in a brioche bun and shrimp in the form of a patty, tomatoes, onion, lettuce, pickles and a sauce. I forget the name of the sauce but it was exquisite. The first bite was so juicy and flavorful. The pickles, lettuce, onion had a perfect crispy crunch to it which was so amazing to me. I came across this place for lunch and decided to stop in. Prior to placing my online order I called to ask a couple of questions and a very nice lady answered them. I ordered my meal online of the beyond burger with a side of fries. It came to $17.06 total. When I arrived I parked on the street nearby. I walked up and went to the window and the nice man asked me my name and I told him. The food was ready but I had to use the restroom and even though they didn't have anyone indoor dining they were kind enough to let me use their facility. They did have outdoor dining though. I thanked them, grabbed my food and walked out. When I got in I dug in and boy was the sandwich good. I loved the flavor and the onions they added. The fries weren't bad and there was plenty. Before I talk about the food I want to mention how friendly the staff is. You are greeted warmly and sent out the door the exact same way, which is always a great way to leave a lasting impression. The food, my friends, the food!! The jerk chicken roti, which gets bonus points in my book for using thighs, is bomb. Juicy, well seasoned, with just the right amount of spice. It can get messy so get the napkins ready. And the oxtail burger was also great. Nice sear on the burger, but still juicy, with a nice meaty flavor. I will most certainly be back.
