Tire swing
Alison B.

A great time was had! Despite coming in during a rainy evening, the seating allowed us to stay comfortable and dry. Service was friendly and fast! Everything was out in 5-10 minutes. The food and drinks were good, not great. The cocktails were fairly weak but they tasted good, not too sweet. Overall, the space is what truly shines! It's very family friendly with a fenced in area for pets and kids. After dark there's live music that isn't too loud where you cannot have a conversation. The tire swing was of course a highlight!

Back again! This is the sweetest stop halfway between Daytona and Orlando for meeting local friends. We just love the outdoor vibe while the kids play on the tire swing and make new friends. The food never disappoints, the service is quick, and the drinks are ice cold! We will visit again in a few weeks when they host a hole for the Sanford mini masters. The only downfall would be that for some reason the poisonous caterpillars attack once a year around this time - my daughter got stung when one fell from the tree, but that won't stop us from visiting again soon!

I came here a bit after lunch so my kiddo can enjoy some outside fun and games while waiting for our food. It's a nice open yard concept so children can go at it for a bit while parents can relax a bit if they want. I ordered the hot chicken sandwich it was on Texas toast. The toast was a bit soggy from all the sauce they added so I kindly asked for another toast. The sauce that's added is not hot at all but instead carries a bit sweet nice tang. I got the bbq beans as my side and it was meh - not horrible but have had better. The chicken was perfectly crisp and breaded and had a good season flavor. My son got the Mac and cheese I wasn't a fan and portion was huge. My sweet tea was to sweet so I added some lemon and water to try to fix it myself not a big deal I understand this is by preference. I cant say I am keen on returning but I see how it can be a spot of any locals in the area.

What an awesome place! Perfect outdoor area to hang out, play games, let the kids run around while you enjoy bites and beverages! We happened upon it during one of the festivals and we will definitely go back. The two server/bartenders we had were very helpful and kind!

We were recommended by a friend to check this place out since we're always in the Downtown Sanford area. I'll be honest - we've been down this road so many times that we didn't know this place existed. We parked across the street, walked right in and sat on the grassy area. Our server was Todd and he was so welcoming. Made sure we had our beers in a timely manner. We got the hazy IPAs, with the wings, pork sliders and coleslaw. The flavor of the wings were delicious, the pork sliders were juicy and coleslaw was cold and crisp. Wings are a bit on the smaller size but it did fall the bone. Live music started to come out so that made us stay longer with a couple of more beers. Downside -- yes there's a lot of kids running around, but it is a "family establishment." Bill was $80 + tip. We'd come back but maybe earlier in the day when it's less crowded with less kids. Thanks Todd for a wonderful experience! I hope next time yall have the ribs!

This is an update after a very disappointing experience I ordered the Back Yard Wings & Sweet Potato tots. I got a heads up that the toys would be sweet potato Fries. I was good with that but I got a pathetic amount of fries for $7. Ridiculously small & did not get the 10 wings. I pointed it out to the server and told they were not responsible for the plating or serving size. They just lost a customer & rating from me. I moved this up to a 2 star for responding to my complaints & brought me more wings. This was still a very disappointing experience.

Came to the Yardery on a beautiful day for lunch. The place was pretty empty so service was great. Our server had great attitude and vibes. The food however was very mid. We ordered their smash burger and pulled pork flatbread. The burger came out first and then the flatbread, about 5 minutes later which was strange. That being said, the burger was good. That flatbread however was well below expectations. Barely any pork, barely any sauce and the pineapple tasted like it was from out of can. Other than that, solid experience overall. Will try some different food next time and try to check out the vibes at night.

Great first-time experience at The Yardery the night of the Sanford Christmas Parade. This is the perfect place to bring friends and family to catch a game while actually playing a few (cornhole, ping pong, etc.). Lovely servers take your order and are quick to offer suggestions, if you'd like. I went with the Yardery Burger (next time, it will be the fish tacos which were also recommended) and fries. The burger is a double smash burger with candied bacon, fried onion, and Yard Sauce - scrumptious! I don't think I waited more than 5 or so minutes for my food to come out - wow! Everything was great and, while I sat at the bar, it looked like everyone around me was having a great time. I definitely recommend this dining jewel just off Downtown Sanford - it's a few extra steps away from the hubbub of Downtown, but it will definitely be worth it. Yum!

Chicken Caesar wrap and sweet potato "tots"

We popped in this place for lunch one day, looking for something to fill an afternoon. It's self seating so we chose a bench shaded with an umbrella. The restaurant is entirely outdoors with lots of pockets of shade. Our server came out within less than a minute to take our order and was really sweet and friendly. While we waited our little girls ran around playing foosball, jenga, and swinging on the tire swing. The "yard" is turf grass, very clean. We loved that the atmosphere was sanctioned for kids who don't like to sit still at restaurants. It let us actually have a conversation! We got a couple of cocktails-- a rum runner for me and a mojito for my husband. He didn't like his drink; said it was watery. But my rum runner was stunning and delicious. So refreshing. A little steep at $12 though, imo. For lunch we split the shareable mac n cheese for the girls, a Cesar wrap and sweet potato fries for me, and a burger and fries for my husband. Everything was delicious. I got the wrap more because I knew it wouldn't feel gross on my stomach in the heat, and anticipated the standard over-dressed but somehow still dry wrap. But this was honestly delish. Warm chunks of grilled chicken and just the right amount of dressing. The sweet potato fries practically melted in my mouth. They were the star. Those 5 items were just under $100, which is sort of bonkers. I'll probably stick to happy hour food/drinks next time. Towards the middle of our meal a pre-teen baseball team descended on the place, which dampened the experience though that's no fault of the restaurant. They took over all the games and were real loud. We had to keep a sharp eye on our kids to make sure they didn't get hit with cornhole sacks. All in all, I can't wait to come back here with our friends with kids. It's a great spot for families to have fun without needing a babysitter. Minus 1/2 a star for the high prices and another 1/2 because we got lucky on a day with a breeze, but they could use some well placed fans to keep it bearable as the summer heats up.

Best burgers in town. Mac and cheese is good too. Live music is nice as well. Too many kids sometimes, but they can't control that.

They had a great incentive at the time, and we immediately fell in love with the space. From the first tour, the team was amazing. Adriana showed us around and was incredibly kind, welcoming, and helpful. Aleshia assisted with finalizing our booking and was just as wonderful. We met with Adriana in person two more times before the wedding and also communicated frequently via email -- responses were always prompt and thorough, which made the planning process feel organized. Venue 1902 provides a curated list of recommended vendors (with catering to be selected from their approved options--plus with BYO alcohol option too) and hosts vendor events throughout the year (plus twice a year exclusively for couples who have already secured a date). These were a valuable part of planning -- we found our phenomenal vendors: caterer, hair/makeup artist, photographer, and photobooth company through these. The team was transparent about what their day-of coordination service includes versus what would require an additional decor placement fee, which we appreciated. They also offer a wide range of decorations, with a price list provided after booking. We were open about our budget throughout the entire process, and we never felt judged or pressured to spend more. A month before the wedding, they set up an online planning tool that helps organize the guest list/seating chart/general layouts and allows you to access/edit at home after, making it easy to visualize the wedding day setup. Small tip: If you plan to have hair and makeup services at the venue, coordinate with your artists early to determine what time you'll need venue access. You might be surprised at how long it takes to complete hair and makeup! Between our booking and our wedding, Venue 1902 implemented a day-of coordination partnership with the company Just Marry!. Initially, this change made me (bride) a bit nervous, but those concerns were put to rest. While our full experience with Just Marry! deserves its own separate review, I cannot say enough positive things about Emylie, who was absolutely incredible and played a huge role in ensuring our wedding day ran smoothly. Venue 1902 truly has thought of everything. It's an all-in-one venue with spacious bride and groom getting-ready suites (filled with natural lighting), lots of clean bathrooms, and beautiful outdoor ceremony (with the option to move indoors due to weather at no extra cost)/indoor+outdoor cocktail hour/indoor reception spaces. With so many unique spots for photos, the venue looks beautiful no matter the angle--and equally striking in color or black and white. There is ample parking plus valet service and elevator access to the reception area on wedding day (available for guests who NEED it). They even lock the bridal suite during the wedding to ensure personal belongings are secure. Brunch provided during wedding day was delicious and substantial. Thoughtful touches like mailing a letter and tote bag for the bride months before the wedding as well as giving us a bottle of champagne during the wedding rehearsal made us feel cared for. A little heads up for future brides planning to wear a long veil--mine got caught on the flooring of the outdoor ceremony aisle, which was totally fine; I just wasn't ready meheheheh! Overall, Venue 1902 is absolutely stunning, professionally run, and exceeded our expectations in every way. We highly recommend it to any couple looking for a beautiful, seamless, and well-thought-out wedding venue. (All wedding photos by Ashley Krug Photography )

I like that they have multiple choices for the ceremony location. We were outside in the courtyard/garden area. It was beautiful. Cocktail hour was done downstairs in one of the rooms and foyer. Loved the natural light that came in through the huge windows. It didn't feel cramped at all! The reception was upstairs and this is the only reason I knocked off 1 star. I didn't see where there was an elevator to get to the second level. This would obviously be an issue for anyone that has issues with stairs or someone that was wheelchair bound. The upstairs reception area was beautiful! It's a big open space and makes for a nice place to decorate. I will definitely keep this place in mind for any future events.

Had to get bloodwork done at 6:30am, so afterwards we were close to here and craving breakfast, so it was a no-brainer to stop in here. Having been born and raised in Mississippi, I am always on the hunt for some good southern homestyle cooking and I for sure found it here. First, everything about the outside and inside of the restaurant reminded me of all the lil mom and pop restaurants I was raised going to. Great nostalgia for me. Now was the food going to live up to what the place looked like?? YES! So I went in craving breakfast and then what did my little eye spy on the menu? An open-faced roast beef sandwich and they service breakfast and lunch all day? Well, yes, please and thank you! Forget brekkie, I went straight for that open-faced roast beef with fried and all of it covered in gravy. OH MY! I'm talking this is the kinda food that (as we say in the Deep South) makes you wanna slap your momma! The bread was piled high with fresh roast beef. The fries were steak fries which are my favorite. The gravy topping everything was just the chef's kiss to set everything off! So many things I want to try on the menu, but I think it's going to be a while before I order anything other than that open-faced roast beef! Hubby had scrambled eggs, toast, hash (his fav brekkie food and he asked for it crispy - they delivered), and breakfast potatoes. He said everything was great and that it's the best hash he's had. I have never been a fan of hash, but I always try it. This has I would definitely eat. It was good. Can't say I'd order it myself because I'm just not a fan, but if this is the breakfast that was served to me, I definitely wouldn't turn my nose up at it. Anyway, two big thumbs up from hubby. Wheelchair friendly. Clean restrooms. Great service from our attentive and sweet server. Food came out very fast. I also much mention the Diet Coke. You know how some are just better from certain fountains? Yes, this was one of those cold fountain Coke's that was just so good. It really hit different. I ordered water as per usual because I try to not drink soda too much, especially while I eat, but hubby mentioned how good it was so, of course I had to try it. He was right. Very good indeed. If you are in the area, don't miss out on this lil restaurant. You will not be disappointed! The only negative thing I can say is they are only open until 3pm on weekdays and only until 2pm on the weekends. Guess that's a good complaint though. LOL Sure wish they were open for dinner too b/c we'd really be eating here a lot!!
