Delicious, generous helpings of freshly prepared, wholesome food. I had lunch with my friends from "The 'Wack" yesterday and it was a thoroughly enjoyable meal. The staff were so nice and polite and checked on us multiple times throughout the meal. I had a small chili, which really was quite generous. There was so much food in that bowl I think I could have fed my two friends and myself! Plus I had a delightful side salad upgraded to their healthy-but-tasty cranberry and almond salad. Partner that with a thick slice of fresh and moist spelt bread and you have a winning combo. You know what I had to drink with my lunch? Mate. A huge, beautiful mug full of it. Sure, it wasn't served traditionally in a gord with a bombilla, but it did taste like the real thing and was perfectly balanced with a bit of sweetness. I don't often see mate done this way in a restaurant/cafe so I was pleasantly surprised by it. The interior of the deli is softly lit, and has a really warm and welcoming feel. The tables are wood, and some of them are smoothed slices of tree trunks. I love that look. The benches are partially covered in pieces of leather and there are interesting wooden dropped ceilings, giving it all a rustic feel. read more

Ordered the Deli Rose: roast beef and smoked meat, hot pepper Monterrey jack cheese, onion, tomato, and their "own special sauce" on an onion roll. It was delicious. Plump, juicy. The bread was amazing. The place is charming. Beautiful wooden interior, friendly folk. There was an "odd" feel about the place, which made more sense after reading up on the religious folks that run it ... but if the food is good, who cares? Open 24/5 (24 hours, Monday morning - Friday afternoon, which is unconventional, but smart!), this is well worth a stop anytime you are on the road or visiting Chilliwack. This place should not exist. Sandwiches should not taste the best that I've had in a very long time on a Tuesday at 11pm. I can think of so many amazing foods, running out of superlatives as I describe each one of them. That's how good they are. Because friends of ours gave this restaurant high reviews we decided to check it out for ourselves. It did not disappoint. The ambience is wonderful- quiet, rustic, and cozy with low lighting. The carpentry is amazing, really unique. Even if the food wasn't great (which it is) the ambience will guarantee a good experience. The food is very tasty, the service friendly, and they will try to cater to those with wheat/gluten sensitivities. Highly recommended!! read more

What a find! Thanks Yelpers, for recommending the Yellow Deli. I had to go to Chilliwack for work and I stopped for lunch at this fabulous & unique cafe. The decor is super cozy. The service is so friendly! I was alone and seated in a little nook beside the barista. He was friendly and helpful. He recommended the vanilla chai maté and I asked to adjust the sweetness a little less and it was perfect. I ordered the "Spinwich", like a spinach frittata served on a fresh home baked roll, with cheese and veggies. Wow! I see they do their own baking so I ordered a muffin to finish with my chai. The berry muffin was warm, with melted butter and a delicious crunchy topping! The food is great and the prices are so reasonable. I will definitely return when I'm in the Fraser Valley and if you're in the area, I highly recommend a stop at the Yellow Deli! read more

A very interesting place for a delicious healthy bite. I was made to drive from Surrey to the Chilliwack location of this chain and the meal was well worth the drive. The restaurant from the outside doesn't reveal much of its awesomeness. The simple exterior is the definition of not judging a book by its cover. Once inside the decor leaves nothing short of admiration. A rustic, woody, chic interior with comfortable leather covered seats, and hand painted art really works well together. The food is fresh, both my sandwich (the Ruben) and my woman's sandwich were delicious . (Yes I did taste a large chuck of hers as well). Once can taste the freshness of the ingredients on some home baked bread. The drinks also do not leave anyone wanting, and neither did the extensive desert menu. The price was good and the ambiance homey. The service was stellar. The waiting staff work as a team and it really shows. I'm not sure what else to add as words cannot describe accurately the experience one enjoys there. I will certainly return to this establishment as it was well worth the long drive. read more

We were passing through town and saw this cool place. The outside of the restaurant is cute and quaint and the inside has even more charm! Full of fun tables in different styles and set ups. The staff was warm and friendly. And the food was fantastic. Our group of 6 all had something different- ranging from sandwiches to soup to chili- and across the board it was all delicious. May possibly have the most delicious waffle I have ever had! Very friendly service with a laid back atmosphere. Perhaps not the place to go if you're in a big hurry- there is no rush here- and that quality adds to its charm. Items had were the deli waffle with berries and yogurt topping. My wife had the yogurt parfait. We enjoyed it so much we returned two days later for the same thing. When you think it's good, better try it again to make sure! Such a unique place, with its homey atmosphere and little nooks and crannies. Our waiter was incredibly gracious and patient. I had the turkey rancher sandwich, served hot on a fresh sesame-wheat roll, with a side of raw vegetables in a light vinaigrette, and a deli pickle. Everything had a from-scratch look and taste. My husband and I do a lot of "cross country" eating, always hoping to find a gem! Well... GEM FOUND!! The bread is fresh and I mean FRESH!!! Completely homemade, down to the spelt croutons! I had yam curry soup and a house salad. So fresh so unreal! My son got a hot dog.... a hot dog on the softest, biggest seeded bun! My husband got the rancher sandwich on soft sesame seed bread. Very nice country design. The interior is gorgeous and country style. Nice hardwood flooring. Amazing atmosphere inside with wonderful staff. I love how everything is natural and organic. Really nice mate drinks and products. The food is decent but maybe a bit too sweet on some dishes and too moist for my liking. The cookies are awesome. The bread is OK. The mate energy bars are an awesome natural hiking snack. If you want an immersion experience into a country style this is a great place to go for coffee and enjoy a light snack. Yellow Deli is a favorite of mine. Good wholesome food with lots of fresh vegetables. I always leave feeling good and healthy. A few times they played live music, which was well done, but seems to happen infrequently. Wish they played more often. They are open 24 hours most days, but are closed Friday evening and Saturday. I'm usually of 2 minds about restaurants... either I love them or I hate them. Here it's love, with some caveats. I've eaten there a half dozen times, and each time I was impressed. The food is awesome. It's simple stuff (soups, sandwiches, salads) but prepared with amazing care, and truly nutritious. I actually felt GOOD after eating there. So far I've had their turkey & egg breakfast sandwich, their chicken peanut rice bowl, and one of their lunch sandwiches -- and I've been impressed by it all. From what I can tell, they serve food that they themselves want to eat. And for under $10 a portion, this is just a tiny bit higher than the price of generic fast food. I think soda and drinks are a rip-off in most restaurants, but this place surprised me. I refuse to pay $3 for a glass of syrup with carbonated water that costs less than a quarter to make. This place is different. The drinks are awesome, and not your typical fare. Unusual drinks, teas and coffees with bizarre ingredients (banana milk?). All the ones I've tried are tasty and definitely not boring. Here are the caveats: 1. The hours are a bit weird, but in a cool kind of way. Figure this out -- they are open NON-STOP from Monday 9am to Friday 3pm and closed on weekends. It's a bit of a downer they're closed on weekends, but if you're looking for a late night or early morning place to eat during the week you're in luck. 2. The place is run by some kind of a fundamental religious group and the staff dress a bit like hippies and ex-1960s Beatles fans. The décor is rustic to the point of excess -- solid wood tables, real flowers in vases and handmade lampshades. If you can appreciate a 3 inch thick table made out of a solid piece of maple, then you'll love it. If you're looking for simple and sleek, you won't find it here. I know some kids who were thrown out of here for playing a role-playing game on the premises. These are religious people, and they're definitely put off by anything that conflicts with their view of the world. All of this can put you off, or you can just ignore it and move on to the important stuff -- namely the food. I deducted 1 star for those caveats -- otherwise this would be a 5 star place to eat. read more
