Once our drinks were ordered, we were told we had to get up and order our food at the bar, which felt a little odd after being seated and waited on initially. I ordered the vegan sandwich, and my husband had the biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs. The food took a while to arrive. As soon as I saw my sandwich, I knew I'd made the wrong choice. It consisted of sautéed kale, a chickpea patty, vegan cheese that looked and tasted like Velveeta, and a single slice of tomato that cost an extra $2. The sandwich was completely flavorless and honestly disappointing. My husband's biscuits and gravy weren't much better. They were so overloaded with black pepper that his nose ran through the entire meal. It's too bad some of that seasoning didn't make its way onto the vegan sandwich! When we finished, we had to get up once again to pay the bill. Overall, the service felt slow and disorganized, with an awkward mix of table service and counter service. It's a very charming little spot with plenty of potential, but the food and service both need significant improvement to create a better customer experience. Unfortunately, this isn't a place we'd be eager to return to.

If you are 10 out of 10 hankering for ice cream, give him a shot. But if you're looking for a go to place that's decent and consistent, this isn't it.

We're so glad we did! The space is absolutely beautiful, with plenty of comfortable seating and a welcoming atmosphere. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, making for a wonderful start to our morning. One thing we really appreciated was that they offered iced coffee with alternative milk options. The menu was also very inclusive of different dietary needs, which is something we always love to see. I was especially excited that they had a vegan breakfast with the option to substitute tofu for eggs--I wish more restaurants offered thoughtful options like that! We ordered the sweet potato hash with tofu and the biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs, and both dishes were fantastic. In fact, it was probably the best meal we had all weekend. The James Newbury Hotel was already an amazing place to stay, but this breakfast experience made it even better. We can't wait to come back!

Based off of personal encounters that I've had with cult members of the Twelve Tribes, I am going to give the Yellow Deli one star. The disgusting child labor and abuse that the Yellow Deli is funding and gaining new members for us appalling. No one is doing the research apparently about this cult. I hope that one day the screen of lies can be taken away and that the people stuck in this cult can be freed. Look up anything about the Twelve Tribes Yellow Deli and you'll get the idea. read more

For one, they hotly cook-up pizzettes, hot and very flavorful sandwiches, soups, coffees and tea. Right next to the register is a clear glass window box with all sorts of scrumptious sweets, muffins, cakes, tarts, choco donuts and cupcakes - that are made each day, I might add. The display is quaint and spot-on and each dessert is elevated on a tiny cake platter on a doily. Next, all the menu boards (above the counter and to the side) are easily legible, for elderly too. The menu that was handed to me was also not too complicated (2 sides) and was laminated, to avoid Covid. The staff was professional, bouncy (music), well prepared for groups that came and friendly. Some staff even remembered what some of the elderly in line wanted, before they ordered. How is that for manners and style?! Go kick rocks down an alley Starbucks! Lastly - the food and drinks here are simply very outstanding. I do not say that often. My cheese panini-style sandwich had layers of molten and hot cheeses, seared onions and somewhere in that mass also herbs and some dark mustard! It was scrumptious. They serve other classics like turkey, salami, ham sandwiches (some already wrapped for quick sale and go). The Athens Rooster is off the beaten (egg?), no track; (just kidding) but the parking is easy, there are lots of seats and even just simply placing (it's a small gesture, for sure - but chefs like me take note) a large jug full of free lemon water with clean cups on the bar counter at the front, really: makes all the visitors days. Cafe go-ers love those water jugs. Believe me! The Athens Rooster is a well maintained, bright and friendly late breakfast and late lunch spot. Yes, they make their own donuts here, and that's enough reason to stop in, take out, or worship at the front door. We got our donuts to go after the meal...The coffee was GREAT. Too often, coffee, which should be the opening star of a diner experience, can be flavorless, browned water. Here it was good. Bold as I needed it to be, and the perfect foundation for the rest of the meal. My next go-to if they have it brunch experience is biscuits. They have them...you can get a biscuit on its own or, heck, go for a mini biscuit basket! I live for a biscuit-forward establishment. The Full Breakfast (submitting biscuit or potatoes for the meat) would have been my choice, but I decided to roll my own and ended up with a biscuit, fruit cup, and side of Hash Browns. The biscuit was good, large, and perfect with butter and honey. They make the hash browns to order - large hash brown patties - and with 2 different orders of them at the table, one was overcooked, too brown, and not impressive...but the other was perfect and delicious...bordering on potato pancake territory in presentation and flavor. Our server was fantastic...we had a large party encompassing 3 different tables in the middle of a Sunday morning (On Easter no less), which is, of course, the busiest time of the week. Gracie's appears to be a reliable place to stop in for a bite.

All the tables were full at this hour, but it did not seem overly packed. The coffee here is delicious, though I can only speak to the cold brew. That said, a friend of ours speaks highly of the lattes/other espresso drinks, for what it's worth. While waiting for my coffee, I perused the selection of prepared foods -- curated with a precision I've come to expect of most businesses in this area. As some have mentioned, the food at Morningbird (and the neighboring Aviary) is Asian-inspired, as are the items for sale. Expect gourmet condiments and seasoning, alongside plenty of coffee/tea and coffee/tea-related products. It's a marvel that I didn't walk out of there with five jars of chili crisp (potentially my all-time favorite condiment). Food-wise, I got the Iceberg Wedge w/ fried shiitakes, blistered sungolds, salted cashews, vegan thai green goddess dressing and my partner got the Fried Omelette and Kale over rice w/ garlic fried rice, roasted kale, crispy shallot. Every ingredient of both dishes was fresh and delicious and flavorful, and the preparations were familiar with a bit of whimsy. The prices are extremely reasonable for both items, but it's possible that it's because they're both on the smaller side as far as entrees go. Not a complaint, just worth mentioning in case you are very hungry. Service was super fast, almost impossibly so. An enjoyable experience start to finish, making Morningbird a spot we'll certainly be returning to.
