This hole in the wall in Valatie sits directly on a creek and Main Street. It needs a better sign…read moreas the entrance is a nondescript multi level building, with an awning. Inside there is a dining area that wraps around bathrooms. On the counters, staff left their empty gum wrappers, staff drink coolers, dirty rags, half eaten sandwiches, empty bottles, refilled Tostitos jars with stinky substances, papers, and cloths etc. At the counter there was a long wait. Regular visitors brought their own food. Several of the service vitrines were cracked. The glass + tableware racks that busboys brought, were very dirty (see pictures, replace them). My meatloaf sandwich - which is a staple that I usually opt for, when there are many items, was filled with carrot and greens; which left a weird taste, that was not meatloafy on my palette! The sides were good, the coffee as well: but the coffee was always empty. The food is middle of the road. Service is slow and lacks a single 'leader' who can keep business humming along. People waited to pay. Cash was left unpaid on the register - people just gave up and walked out. It is very very chaotic. Food is passable, not refined. Coffee refills took a very long time. Chaotic female wait staff, that creates massive dining room problems and backups for diners wanting to pay. Staff make problems not solving them! Review: -4

We've been to Main Street Diner at least a dozen times now. While I've tried working my way through…read moretheir menu, there's still a lot I want to try. Salads are huge. Burgers are good. Onion rings, great. You can't beat their prices on breakfast and their typically large servings. One thing was pretty average is their breakfast gravy. I'm hoping it was an off day as it was a bit bland. For the most part, the service is good.

Great wine list, great pizza, delicious entrees, great service and huge portions /good value for price point. The in house made "house" salad dressing is the bomb. It's a balsamic something. The cannolis are better than most anywhere and large. I've been on a cannoli kick over the last year or 2 and this was better than any, including from Italian bakeries that I've had recently. The wine list is expansive and at $11 a glass, with a great pour, is reasonable, as is the bottle prices. I've been many times for both eat in and pizza for take out AND attended a catered event here and they really get everything right all the time. See you there!

We looked up Italian food options, and while there weren't too many choices in the area, this place's pizza looked really good--so we decided to give it a try. You walk in and the space feels much larger than expected--high ceilings with some familiar décor I've seen in other Italian restaurants, like small statues, vines, and painted scenery. You could also tell that this is a popular local spot, since it seemed like the staff knew several of the guests personally. We ordered a medium Margherita pie and a Penne alla Vodka--both simple and safe choices. The pasta dish came with a side salad (choice of house or Caesar), which was perfect. Note: if you prefer a small amount of dressing, you may want to ask for it on the side. We did make that request, but unfortunately, the server seemed to have forgotten, and our salad came drenched. We didn't mention it, though, because we weren't that hungry and just ate what we could before moving on. That said, the pizza and penne were both excellent. The pizza had that great brick oven flavor, fresh mozzarella, and a robust tomato sauce. The Penne alla Vodka was also flavorful and nicely seasoned. If you're ever in the area and in the mood for Italian food, definitely check this place out.

Having spent a good portion of my childhood in Brooklyn (Park Slope section) I learned to really…read moreenjoy pizza there. For $0.25 I could get a slice and a soda, yes those days are gone for sure. When I saw Brooklyn style pizza I decided I'd take a ride and give it a try. Upon entering the restaurant I noticed that there was a lot of nostalgia from Brooklyn including subway signs and pictures of the "Wonder Wheel " from Coney Island setting a nice atmosphere for the restaurant. The young man behind the counter took our order and when the pizza was ready delivered it to our table. We ordered a sausage pizza and I'll tell you they aren't afraid of using cheese, Plenty of it and sausage. The pizza was very tasty, but not exactly what I remember from my childhood. Now this is just my personal opinion so please make sure to give them a try, everyone has different taste buds. Personally I would prefer a thinner and more crusty dough, and less cheese. This DOES NOT mean I didn't enjoy it, just my personal preference. Also, there are lots of other dishes on their menu besides pizza! Give them a try, you won't be disappointed!

Phoned in an order for pick up based on their website. Ordered a Toscana pizza. The girl that…read moreanswered had no clue what that was. OK, maybe it was her first day. We explained it to her.She quoted a price $8 higher than what the website said ($25 verses $33 using round numbers.) When we arrived and told her the disparity on price, she said well this is what the computer says. We showed her one of their menus which said the Toscana costs $27. We were fine with that. She went and got the 'chef' and he took the menu from us and said the higher price was it. We opened another menu and showed them the lower price again. They weren't going to budge. When I said we were going to leave without the pizza, they reluctantly have us the price that their own menu stated! Not one apology, just attitude. I understand that prices change and maybe new menus weren't re-ordered yet to reflect that. But I know how easy it is to change prices on a website. Horrible customer service. Entitled 20 somethings. Pizza was good, but we will never go back there again. Sticking with LaBella's who knows how to treat customers.

How much did you pay the last time you had a one scoop ice cream cone? I bet the odds are pretty…read moregood you may have paid triple what I paid yesterday. Because yesterday, I paid (brace yourself) a buck and a half for a one-scoop cone of pistachio gelato. Yup, I really did. Scoop 518 is the quintessential small town ice cream shop. You'll find it located on the picture perfect Main Street of Chatham, NY. It has a very cool eclectic interior with pink trim, black and white mosaic floor tiles, giant circus posters, and I kid you not... a giraffe neck and head sticking out of the upper cabinets behind the counter. They offered 16 flavors, a lot of the first generation basics (chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, coffee, black raspberry, butter pecan, maple walnut, mint chocolate chip), some of the second generation of flavors (cookie dough, cookies and cream, salted caramel, peanut butter fudge), plus a sherbert, 2 sorbets and a gelato for those looking to save some calories. Actually, I paid 2 bucks for my cone because I added chocolate sprinkles for fifty cents. I'm used to having cones rolled around in a bowl of sprinkles for the maximum density of sprinkle application. But that wasn't the case here. She put the sprinkles into a plastic quarter cup container and carefully sprinkled the sprinkles onto and around the ice cream. It didn't work very well and when was the last time you felt ripped off for paying an extra fifty cents? Anyway, 2 bucks for a cone with a smattering of sprinkles is still a fantastic bargain. By the way, the pistachio gelato was delicious.
