Coffee station and half the deli case
    Eric H.

This is one of my favorite places in town to get deli items. That also includes very reasonably priced square pizza that actually tastes good. The salads they make are all really good as well. Overall the prices in the store are average to good for a convenience market. I've been coming here for almost 30 years, back when they were Bonfare. The name may have changed, but they continue to make quality products. I'm not in town very often these days, but whenever I am I make sure that we make a stop here at least once. The only thing that can be somewhat troublesome is that they employ local teenagers to work there. That is a great service to the community, but can also lead to less than optimal speed and service. We know it is a learning opportunity and likely the first job for some of them, so we hope other people give them the same amount of slack that we do.

Nice variety of products. Cold cuts were good, their sandwiches were well constructed. Could use an Italian semolina bread though

My family felt a bagel would make a great mid-morning breakfast/early lunch option, so we gave Hudson Bagels a try. Each of us was quite pleased with our experience! The fella that greeted us upon entering was nice and helpful in guiding our selections. The bagels were fresh and as good as any NYC bagel I have ever eaten. My family and I couldn't have been happier with our visit. The only downside was the limited amount of indoor seating available, but that's not a complaint--rather, just something to know if you're planning of stopping in for a bagel. If the weather is cold, the outdoor seating isn't likely an option. I highly recommend Hudson Bagels! If I ever make it back to Hudson, I'll visit this shop again! :-)

One thing I noticed about these bagels is that there's a lot of seasoning on them. All the bagels in the display seemed heavily seasoned--whether it was everything, garlic, onion, or whatever, they were covered in it. The bagel itself wasn't bad. I've had worse down in the city, so I was pleasantly surprised. Not as much chew as I'd like, but still tasty.

Talbott & Arding was chosen as our first stop on our girls' getaway journey. Tucked in the Hudson Valley, just an hour from the Berkshires, it was a sweetly energetic beginning to our day. We each chose a sandwich from the counter. My smoked salmon on focaccia was a delight. The bread, airy and light, beautifully happy yeast just bounding with lift, defying the constraints of olive oil which left my fingers gloriously glistening. I haven't had a focaccia as happy as that in a minute. Super thin radish, bright pickled shallot and fresh watercress all gave a nice vibrant touch. Ben's cream cheese couldn't possibly be creamier. And the delicate, silky, fresh, luxurious salmon... What a dream. So balanced. I filled my arms with goods- iberico salami, Aleppo chili oil, Blackstrap coffee beans, local chocolates, and an adorable Talbott & Arding puzzle. I'm sure I could have easily convinced myself to buy just about everything I laid my eyes upon. The cheese counter was an absolute work of art. It's clear that Talbott & Arding is a willing servant to the gifts of the surrounding earth and people. The homage it pays is palpable. Our stop at Talbott & Arding set the tone for an intentional, peaceful, vibrant, cozy, delicious, connected trip. I'll be back immediately.

The food is simple but good. I ordered the not quite "grilled" (but rather melted) cheese and the half chef salad. Love the warm rolls that come with all of the meals too. This Yellow Deli had a similar vibe, with the same earthy and "Middle Earth" feel, but I wasn't a big fan of the "Long Islander" sandwich I ordered. The creamy cauliflower soup, however, was good, and the strawberry banana smoothie was delicious. Unfortunately, our waitress wasn't very friendly, which was disappointing. That said, I still love Yellow Deli and picked up a bunch of items from the shop inside, like their homemade teas and soaps. I'm always fascinated by the intricate detail and decor of Yellow Delis--it's truly unlike any other deli.
