I visited this venue for a Weeknd tribute party and the production here was great! The interior was nicely decorated, the atmosphere was curated well, and the staff had general organization down. The drinks here were great as well! They were sweet and tasted like juice. The bartender was also good at putting on a show while mixing the drinks. In the venue, there was a free photo booth for digital photos which was nice. The music played wasn't my style (not the biggest Weeknd fan), so there was an outdoor area to get fresh air and relax at. I've always enjoyed going to the Yost Theater, which is why this experience was so disappointing. My friends and I reserved tables this year for the Super Bowl and the Mexico vs. South Korea game, and we had such a great time at both events that we decided to come back for Mexico vs. England. Unfortunately, this experience was completely different. The venue was extremely overcrowded, people were constantly standing in front of our table, and we could barely see the screen even though we paid for reserved seating. Security did absolutely nothing to control the crowd. Several security guards were on their phones, vaping, and even blocking our view themselves. When we tried speaking to someone who appeared to be a manager or person in charge, he offered no solution. He then approached my boyfriend and randomly asked what he did for a living, which had absolutely nothing to do with the issue. After my boyfriend answered, the man said something along the lines of, "So you know you can't control everything." Instead of making unnecessary comments, he should have done his job and controlled the overcrowding and security issues inside the venue. We spent good money on a table and expected to actually be able to watch the game. The way the situation was handled was dismissive, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable. It's especially disappointing because our previous experiences were so good, but after this, we will seriously reconsider coming back. read more

Went here to watch the candle light concert. The music was wonderful and the artists were great. The access to the theater was quick and easy but parking took a minute. it's a small theater so easy to get around. We opted for a loveseat however this is actually a sofa for 4 so prepare to snuggle with another couple. The concert was supposed to be 'candle light' but the stage lights were super bright and not very ambient which kind of took away from the atmosphere. There is a bar inside and outside of the theater room which is convenient however the bar inside the theater room started their dishwasher half way through the show which was super distracting on top of people dropping keys and phones on the hardwood floor wood floor constantly which was upper loud. Lastly I really with there was a dress code for these types of events, watching a sting quarter with people in hoodies, sweaters and seats just takes away from the overall ambiance in my opinion but this is a personal preference. read more

We attended the Yost for a Candlelight Event and we loved it. They have a bar area inside the theater room and another one before entering the bar. I am not sure how it is overall but for the Candlelight event it was beautifully decorated. At the time we went they did not have food but I am not sure if they have food services for any of their other events. Parking is available right outside for a maximum of 2 hours. But there is also plenty of parking surrounding the area. read more

Me & my friend were drinking nearby and we heard music so we followed the music & the black laced line setup was up and we got in like but it was closed off and we didn't know rather to wait or get out of line until a security approached us and told us we can get out of line to get in the center near the ticket booth. And me and my friend go underneath the black lace line set up and the security guard with some sort of black shade glasses starts coming at us cussing at us "i put that fucking set up line for a fucking reason. YOU HAVE TO FUCKING RESPECT THAT " which me and my friend were taken off guard on that situation & how unprofessional that staff was towards us. And we told him "i'm sorry we didnt know we couldn't line up here, this is our first time here".And after that he explained how there's people who keep doing that & blah blah. And the club didn't start til 10pm and said we can comeback @10pm. So me and my friend look at each other were like "okay we will see " & i walk 3 feet away from him and i tell my friend "now i don't want to go in. I didn't like his attitude. Let's jus go somewhere else to dance ". I'm guessing he heard me say that & We walk away and calls us over and ask us for our age & IDs and apologizes i guess and proceeds to still use the word "fuck" which still didn't seem so professional. The parking around here is not the best. There's a small parking lot and a larger public parking structure a couple blocks away. It's $20 on Saturdays. The staff were relatively friendly and the line for the event moved at a reasonable pace. The venue offers some food options like pizza, tater tots, fries, salad, etc and of course, there are alcoholic options like cocktails, beers, and liquors. The food was ok. Do not let the less-than average reviews deter you from visiting this venue! I read the reviews of this place before attending an event, and I was... concerned LOL. But I'm happy to report that I had a good experience here. Parking - A bit of a nightmare, but we got lucky with parking right next to the McDonalds. Space & ambiance - This place gets the job done for hosting smaller events. The VIP sections were definitely a bit tight for the amount of people in our party but that can't be helped - we had a huge group. The general admissions floor was spacious and hosted a huge crowd without it feeling too tight or uncomfortable. The restrooms were never too crowded even though the event space was full. Staff - I didn't have any problems with the staff. The security staff did their jobs well, and I didn't have any issues with my VIP wristband with getting in and out of different areas. The ticket staff and drinks staff were also kind - no complaints. Music - I was impressed by the quality and sound of the stereo system. I definitely recommend bringing ear plugs to help protect your ears, but I can tell this would be a great venue for other sorts of music events. The screen for the visuals did the job as well. Neither aspects of the venue were outstanding, but they were better than average and in terms of what I expected. Drinks - I ended up spending $180 on drinks so that should tell you something about the... strength and ease of access of buying them. There were plenty of areas to buy drinks, whether in the GA or VIP sections. Overall, 4/5! The venue itself is a bit crunchy, but I'm not expecting all of the bells and whistles for a venue like this. If I see that this venue is hosting a future event, I'll surely be more inclined to buy tickets and attend. read more

Honestly, I was weary of coming here because of all the other reviews about this place saying that there is pickpockets, bad security and a slew of other problems. I came here last night and am able to say that I had issues with absolutely none of that. When we arrived to the venue, there was a line but it was not too long, and it moved by fairly quick. Once we got to the front, security searched us then let us in. They gave us no issues at all. The venue itself was nice and spacious. There is a bottom floor and also a top floor where you can go to hangout and continue dancing or listening to music. The music wasn't too loud either which I liked a lot. People were respectful and it didn't seem to look like anyone was out to steal phones. I get the feeling my experience may have been drastically different from ones that these other reviewers may have had. I have nothing bad to say about my experience at The Yost. The event I attended was cool and I enjoyed it. Maybe a persons experience depends on the event they attend?? I'm not sure. The one thing I did not like was the parking situation is wild here in DT Santa Ana. There are a limited number of spaces out in the street and the construction going on right now does not help in finding a spot on a busy night. I visited the Yost theater, he didn't want to tell us his name, but we knew he was new since we haven't seen his the past weeks that we came. He asked me "what we would let him do to let us get let in". It made us feel uncomfortable and unsafe when he told us we couldn't do anything for him because of the cameras. That is why we ask the cameras to be checked, so we are understood as to why he was acting very strange. I wouldn't want to be that person, but he just seemed in a bad mood. You cannot compare this to other clubs/ lounges in OC like Time or Mesa but this place stands it's own ground. The drinks however are the same price as other clubs. There's only one bar and VIP section comprises or tables on each side of the dance floor (raised platform). We did find parking on the next street that was $4 an hour until 10:00 p.m. The venue itself seats maybe 100 to two hundred people depending on your decor envisioning. You can decorate it. The service at this place is horrible. Apparently phones and items get stolen from this place a lot. The fact they won't do anything about following up on "lost and found items" is ridiculous. The phone pinged at the location even while business was open. Several reviews indicate same pattern poor service and security. Wonder what they're doing with the phones? Since they can't confirm it's not at the location due to lack of follow up on lost/stolen item.. getting an email or voice message answered is impossible and they don't have daytime operating business hours. Yost Theater! The first time I'd ever been here was in 2015 for my senior prom lol. For that event, it was a cool venue. For the Benny the Butcher concert last Saturday, definitely NOT the venue to go to. Just a note, after reading the first like 20 reviews I'm so glad I left this place with my phone in my possession! Parking wasn't really an issue; At first we parked by the roundabout on the street over from 4th. We noticed it was only 2 hours so we moved to a nearby parking structure. Which ended up being a few bucks, if even that. Parking was about the only thing I don't have a complaint about. Everything else, there was something. There was no communication amongst the staff/security & the people attending the concert. They weren't directing people or asking if they were in the correct line. Mostly just standing in the entry way, talking to each other. Inside the venue was pretty small. When you walk in, the left and right side is the VIP area. The middle part is all GA standing room. By the bar there's some standing room behind a rope. That's about it though. Crazy thing about this show is there was about 10 people on before Benny the Butcher. These people that performed were not on the flyer for the show. It also said the show went from 8 PM - 12 AM, Benny didn't go on until 12! Pretty insane lol. I'm a huge fan of Benny the Butcher so I enjoyed the show (his part), everything else was literally a waste of time lol. Wish I'd known about these random artists, otherwise I'd come a little later. Another annoying thing was when Benny came on, the sound &/or bass got turned up super high and it got crazy loud and the floors were vibrating. It was cool but it was so loud it hurt my ears & I couldn't tell what the hell he was even saying. As the set went on the sound leveled out but oh my god that was ridiculously loud lol. The event here was okay, missing some details when it comes to buying some vip tickets and what you get when you buy them. But the main concerning part is the staff. Starting with security being really rude, this one bald guy with a beard felt that it was okay to walk all the way to where I was, out of line and snatch the water bottle I was drinking out of my hand and pouring it all on me without saying sorry and only saying "no drinks allowed on the premises". And now when it comes to contacting anyone on the staff to make them aware of this, they DO NOT care if you just had an issue at all, they'll ignore you and there's no point, so just know if anything happens here, there's no point in filing a complaint cause they'll just ignore you. I'm sure you can find way better events anywhere else with better lighting, better music, and not something that looked last minute. read more

First time going to the XELOSA Party and it went great! There is a warning sign of pickpocketing but as long as you don't mind holding your phone and wallet it's fine. Line to get in wasn't long at all and I showed up around 10:40pm. Drinks are pretty good! My friend had two drinks at this venue and ended up getting kicked out whilst helping a girl in the bathroom. Halloween night was a pure dumpster fire. Didn't even stay long enough to compensate for the amount of time we stayed in line. The lines were huge and we didn't realize we were even standing in the VIP line until we were asked if we were VIP. Well, when you have ONE sign stating this is the VIP line and it's alllllll the way at the front and being hidden by the millions of people standing in front of it, it's hard to tell. So we were told either pay 10 bucks or go to the back of the General Admission line. We literally had already been waiting a good hour so we just paid anyway. But when I asked the guy working the line what is included when paying for the VIP ticket, kid you not his only response was "You don't get to wait in this long ass line." Oh sorry, did you mean the long ass line we have already waited an hour in? Like, the long ass line you are now telling us to pay to stay in just so we can get inside in a timely manner? I might as well have bought the Skip The Line pass. I wasn't aware of any kind of VIP experiences and pretty much spent 10 extra dollars to keep our place in line. So backwards. Then they take mine and my husband's ID's and walk away to "check them" then give us a 21+ wristband. We're not over 21. My ID even states in bold red letters "NOT OVER 21" and yet they still gave us those wristbands lol. Seriously so unprofessional. Then the whole pink ticket thing was stupid. What the hell are they even for if you're scanning tickets anyway? It was a party of 4 of us and my husband was handed all 4 pink tickets after paying for everyone's additional 10 dollars. By the time we thought to give our friends their ticket we were already being rushed through security. So my husband walks back to the line to give our friends their tickets and is caught in some weird, unnecessary altercation with the girl working the line and is called disrespectful when he tried explaining himself, which is funny because this chick literally asked him to explain to her what was going on. I would say I understand that these workers are just trying to get people inside, but when people are standing in line for an 1h30m+ then what exactly is it you're doing? Because you're obviously not doing your job. Instead of picking fights with everyone, maybe do your job so fights won't start in the first place and waste everybody's time. It's not that hard to run lines in a fast and efficient manner that don't cost everyone an argument. Ive been to venues in business for less than 5 years and they had the program down better than this place. Anyway that one part seriously ruined the night and we weren't even inside yet. And of course when walking inside we were still unsatisfied. Music was pretty bad. This place's definition of house music are remixes of terrible songs. Why am I hearing Flowers by Miley Cyrus followed by poorly produced dubstep? On top of that we were hearing people complain about the exact same things we experienced and just by looking around you could tell people weren't having a good time. Maybe the music got better after we left because I know there were different sets that went on but whatever. We were inside for a total of like 25 minutes before we ditched. Waste of time and money. Went to In n out afterwards and saw other people from this place walking in so clearly we weren't the only group with that idea and mind you it was still pretty early in the night. Moral of the story, don't waste your time. This is the land of inconveniences. Update: I left a comment under their more recent instagram post along with others who had a bad time. The comments were getting likes and I just noticed they deleted the post entirely. Not only is this place horrible at service but can't seem to take criticism either. Surely explains why their employees were so quick to act childish and create issues from something so small. I'd like to mention another detail about the lady who called my husband disrespectful. As he tried explaining himself (like she asked him to do) I watched her ignore him in the middle of him talking and go back to looking at her phone and not saying a word. Are you kidding? Gorgeous venue! My goodness, this venue exceeded my expectations. My work had our Christmas party here. I was blown away. I'd love watch an intimate concert here or attend a wedding. My party felt like a wedding because this place was so elegant. I am a sucker for old buildings with high ceilings, it just adds an essence of elegance, class and romance, with a vintage feel. I really hope my work has our party here every year. The ramps to get into the ballroom are a bit steep, so ladies if you were stilettos (like I do) just be extra careful! The Yost is right in a downtown district, so plenty to do before or after. Loved this place so much! read more

This was my first time attending the Yost Theater and at first, I did not think much of it. When we first arrived, the parking lot was full and all of the handicap spaces were already taken, even though we were a little over an hour early. Because the parking lot was small, I thought the theater was going to small as well. As soon as I got there, they were still not letting people in, but I was able to ask one of the security guards if they had handicap spaces available. It turns out, they did not have any designated handicap spaces but they let me go in before everybody else, and I was able to get a spot that worked for me. I noticed there was a section that was spaced off on its own, and it was almost near to the front of the stage. I asked one of the security guard if I was able to chill right there during the show. He told me to give him a few minutes before he was able to give me an answer because he had to verify it was cool first, so, he walked away, and when he came back a few minutes later, he gave my homie and I a VIP wristband. I did not realize I was inquiring about the VIP section but the fact that he gave us VIP wristbands anyways was very cool of him. We did not eat while we were there, but as soon as you exited the theater, there are a few food trucks that smelled really good. Even though I don't drink anymore, my homie ordered himself some sort of alcoholic mixed drink, I think a Long Island. It was in a really small cup that was full of mostly ice and when I asked him how much it cost, I couldn't believe it when he said it cost him $18! After that, I was afraid to ask for a bottle of water but it was all good. The show was amazing and I appreciate the staff accommodating me. if i could give this place 0 stars i genuinely would. do not come here for multiple reasons. one - this place doesn't deserve any of ur money. two - if you are a woman, ur safety and wellbeing are never once taken into consideration. three - i know AT LEAST 9 people, including me, who have gotten their phones & wallets stolen (8/9 were women). while it is not the yosts fault that there's some shitty people coming into their business, the way they handle and address it is. for one, we were told there are apparently no cameras in the building so they can't go find out who is taking the phones. idk maybe go install some??? my phone was stolen in april of this year and i was told no cameras, and the night mine was stolen i also met 3 other girls who also got theirs stolen as well. i know people who got their phones stolen from here in also january, march and november it is clearly a chronic issue and they are doing absolutely nothing to solve it. it's now the end of august and my roommate's wallet, car key, house key, and phone were stolen last night - still apparently no cameras. it's like this place doesn't care that they have a major theft problem and wants to do nothing to address it. when you go up to an employee and let them know something got stolen, you get met with no help and just a shrug. are u joking me. even if someone at the club is making you uncomfortable and you inform security, they could not give less of af. like the employees here are pretty useless for any sort of help. idk i genuinely am so disgusted with how this club is ran, i tried to give the benefit of the doubt last night that maybe things have changed but they haven't at all. i hate this club now and will never return, i never write reviews either i just wanted to say this in hopes people don't go so their phone and wallets dont get stolen & because i genuinely believe this club deserves to lose business until they actually do something to help. read more
