Well from what I understand, this is simply the name of the food court which the restaurants located here share. Nothing fancy, but its open design makes this place feel much larger than it really is. When I came here, I was my wife's guest for her boss's retirement party. He wanted to drink some fine whiskeys with his work group. But I was more interested in Korean fried chicken (Sari) and Dan Dan fries (Basilisk). It was a great experience overall. This dining space will be much better (and livelier) when the weather warms up and they open up the bay doors. read more

Met here while some friends were in from out of town. We had a bit of a crowd and The Zipper was the perfect spot for our rowdy group! Full bar at The Paydirt and several food options including some vegan choices which are always appreciated. We got bevy's at Paydirt and some bi bim bop at Sari. Many of our group got the chicken sandos which were HUGE and I need to come back for tacos. Fun food court, great for groups, will return. read more

Super family friendly, covered inside dining. Multiple dining options, pizza,tacos, two bars for the adults and a few games for the kids. Zoltar makes a guest appearance, and vegan pizza is also available. The staff is super helpful. Any questions just ask. Great outdoor dining space, not much parking. read more

This is somewhat like a food cart pod. I've only been here after nights of tennis with some great people and always had a great time. Finding parking right in front at busy times is unlikely, but you can park across the street. There are long benches, some in the shade and some in the open. The Zipper is a cool hip food court with a couple of restaurants and a decent amount of indoor and outdoor seating. At The Zipper, you'll find mexican food, fried chicken, ramen, and some other cuisines so there's generally something for everyone. If you sit outside, there's even a fire pit. Parking can be tough to find since there is limited street parking, but this place is worth a visit to just casually hang and great a meal and some drinks! read more

Unlike another person who posted, I found the common area in The Zipper to be clean. Each table has a clean/dirty marker, and there are tubs everywhere for patrons to use in bussing their tables. I like the food offered in The Zipper (can get vegetarian or vegan) and plan to return. read more

I've been meaning to go to the Zipper for a good long while, so I jumped on the opportunity on NYE when I decided it was time to give Basilisk a shot. All the restaurants have their own entrances to the outside world, but share a food hall in the style of a cafeteria. The place is oddly shaped because of the weird block it lives in on Sandy, but they made great use of the space. At 2:30pm on a Monday (mind you, NYE), it was about half full, but there was still plenty of room. All of the restaurants seemed to have a little seating in their separate areas as well. I recommend beers or simple mixes here because their cocktails are actually terrible. I took 2 sips of the big pink at Paydirt before setting it aside. We visited the Zipper without even realizing it. We decided to try Basilisk and then realized it was part of a bigger collection of food places. The Zipper has a wide variety of food options, plenty of bench seating (both open air indoor and outdoor), and clean bathrooms. We visited a little before noon on a Saturday and it wasn't too busy and parking was a breeze. The bar area was closed so that may be why it was relatively quiet. I could see this being a very popular area for happy hour and in the evenings. 4 stars. read more

Loving these communal concepts like The Ocean and now The Zipper. The Zipper has one up on The Ocean because of the extensive indoor communal area, where you can bring your food from one of many restaurants while also scoring drinks from Paydirt, a very cool bar that occupies one long end of the space. It's basically a few small restaurants with a large communal indoor seating area, bay doors that open to an outdoor area, and fire pit outside. An excellent concept that seems to work well in execution. I'm not 100% stoked on the food options (The Ocean wins on this front), however I really dig the fact that, unlike The Ocean, I can get my drinks from one place food from another, and sit with my friends in the middle. So everyone can get whatever they want and eat wherever they like. I believe at The Ocean you can take your food anywhere but drinks have to stay in each restaurant's specific outdoor area. Glad this new(ish) concept of a food-court filled with local restos and a great bar seems to be blossoming in PDX. I'll take as many more as you're willing to serve up! read more

What the heck is an adult food court? Or food court for adults, or whatever? Simple. It's a room in between the bar and the little food shops with plastic picnic tables where you can take your stuff. I was expecting something more elaborate, but that's really all it is. Well, some restrooms and at least one TV. It showed the Blazers almost beat the Grizzlies. sigh There's no ATM. An inexplicable oversight. There's also tons of radiant heaters hanging from the ceiling and it felt like every MFing one of them was on. I was dying inside there. It's got some big garage doors that connect to outdoor seating and a gas firepit. S'cool. But if those doors are closed turn the dang thermostat down. read more

I think this is a pretty cool concept. Create a common space between a number of food outlets where you can enjoy trying several different places under one roof. It's great for groups with different diets/preferences. It's not fancy, and has medium size picnic style seating, but the outside fire pit area will be cool when the weather is clear. The prices were reasonable, and the options good. As you would expect in this type of dining, you buss your own tables and order at the individual vendor. They do deliver your meal to the table. You can purchase alcoholic beverages from the on premises bar. I plan to go back to sample more of the menus! read more

Also had the fried, tempura battered kale and risotto cakes from Wares. Both were also superlative! (I miss small wares so much) Pros: Casual, vibrant and social. Bartenders were very knowledgeable about their GIANT whisky selection. Service was fast and friendly! Visited the Zipper last night to check out Sari. Although the fire pits were rolling outside, it was still far too cold to sit outside. Indoors seemed nearly as cold, with dim lighting. Not cozy at all and I ate with my jacket on because i was so cold. If you feel like being cold and uncomfortable while eating, this is the place for you. read more

Unfortunately, Basalisk was closed on Sunday evening (for some event they catered or something). We ordered from another part (Small Wares, I think it's called) we weren't in love with the food. I hated mine. I had one bite and that was it for me. Everything was heavily seasoned...too much so. Luckily, I was with great people and it was a gorgeous night. Love this place! Such a cool concept. Today we went for lunch which we do about once a month if not more often. So excited that "Wares" has just joined their collection of very unique restaurants. We were huge fans of Smallwares. I ordered the vegetarian pho which was fantastic, just the right size filled with wonderful fresh ingredients, we shared the fried kale which we use to love at Smallwares. My husband had the bao and devoured it. All of the food was so good and the service was impeccable. My husband also loves the chicken sandwich at Basilisk, Chickpea is also great. The guys at paydirt are so cool and always have unique cocktails along with an amazing beer list. And as a side note I also get my nails done at Fingerbang....awesome! Would highly recommend every business in this complex. read more

LOVE IT. ChickpeaDX is serving up killer felafel plates, and Pay Dirt's slinging awesome drinks. I haven't tried the pizza joint there, but I'm guessing it's good too. Ramen wasn't that good. Their oher 2 restaurants were closed at 9:45pm on a Saturday- a fried chicken place and a pizza place. Ordered two Ramen dishes. Were served them at separate times. Bartender at Paydirt was stereotypically hipster-stuck up, zero personality, and looked rather put off that we were eating at his bar even though he wasn't busy... which is supposed to be one of the draws to this place, that u can take anything anywhere. Decent dj spinning - but sounds AWFUL with blown speakers. Rather disappointed esp since we Uber-ed it here. Won't be back. read more
