The husband and wife combo running the food truck were amazing and the service was quick. The truck looked clean on the inside. My husband and I both agreed that the burrito had the perfect mix of egg, cheese, meat, and potatoes! It was delicious, if you like salsa - the salsa verde is amazing! The burgers are fairly thin, and I would think they need to be bigger to house a middle "stuffed" layer of bacon. Rather, I observed the bacon was sort of chopped up within the center of the patty itself. They're flavorful, no doubt, and the tots are great. But I think they're a bit too pricey since the burger is the size of a quarter pounder all in all.

It doesn't damage the roof of the mouth like some baguettes would. ....the pork, juicy, flavorful, and succulent. ....the pickles, sweet (as they should be). ....the dijon, that proper amount of spicy, the nasal heat one would expect. All and all, what I would expect from a proper Cuban. It takes me back to ABQ and a particular Cuban Family restaurant that I regard in high esteem. The night I dined here, it was somewhat after the usual dinner rush, so the crowds were gone and the hostess led me to a corner booth near the back of the restaurant and handed me a menu. Like many diners you may have eaten at, the menu at COLONIAL HOUSE is huge. As I get older, huge menus are becoming more intimidating because they offer a large volume of selections that you have to choose from while a server is waiting (sometimes not all that patiently). That having been said, there is enough variety on the menu here that if you can't find something you'd like, you are probably a very picky eater. One surprise and also an intimidating one was the humongous portions that are delivered when your plate arrives. I knew immediately that I would not be able to finish the meal and resolved not to try and ask for a take-out box once I ate what I could finish. My dinner (what I managed to eat was excellent) and the server had no problem providing me with a take-out box. The food kept well in my hotel's room fridge and reheated well the next day for lunch. The baked products at COLONIAL HOUSE were a feast for the eyes and I ordered a piece of strawberry shortcake to take with me back to my hotel. Mouthwatering delight! If you are visiting Rapid City and want to completely SKIP over the far too numerous chain restaurants in the area and get far better food brought to you by servers who actually seem to like their jobs and the reputation of their employer, look no further than COLONIAL HOUSE. Just make sure you come with a completely empty stomach and a big appetite.
