Been a good 10 years since I've been to Theo's .. not sure why , it's always been good . Never ordered takeout though until the other day ... it'll be another 10 years before I go back . Dolmathes were alright , horiatiki was ok ... Kalamari was decent , overpriced for what you get ... not crispy , but not oily either ... which I appreciate because a couple other places in town have theirs swimming in oil. The spanakopita was the worst I've ever had , not sure there was feta in it , if there was it was brown ... Burt green onions , if they weren't green onions I have no clue what these bits were . There was a awesome lady who helped me , but not before I experienced the owner ... wasn't very welcoming. read more

Visiting my brother in Vancouver but we drove over to Penticton for a long weekend. Ate at Theo's Sunday evening with six of us. My wife and I ordered the shared meat plate so we each got a taste of six different items since neither of us knows much about Greek foods! It was great, everything was prepared wonderfully and tasted good, the service was excellent and we all had a great evening. We live in Michigan, so may not get back there for some time, but will repeat the experience if we ever do get back to the Okanagan area. read more

This place is pretty good if Mediterranean food is your thing. The food and service were both great and the baklava is delicious. Ice cream isn't that great. I would've rated higher if the decor wasn't so dusty and gross. Way too much of it and it looks as it hasn't been cleaned since 2001. read more

So. This is a return review, I was here 3 years ago and I was looking forward for the next time... Unfortunately I'm a bit disappointed hence the only 4 stars. We ordered appetizers - taramasalata and tzaziki as well as calamari - the calamari was salty and not as crispy as you would expected. The other two salads were ok but again not amazing The sole - main - was excellent as well as the beef skewers. The side potatoes were to lemony for our taste but I guess it's a matter of cuisine I ordered the flag course beef shoulder which is very impressive portion (large ) which was cooked excellent but for me was lacking some condiments We ended with baklava and tiramisu which were good but not memorable Will I come back - absolutely yes Will probably not order the same but definitely will come back as the atmosphere and the crew are amazing The restaurant is beautiful and the total price was about $50 pp including drinks which is very reasonable I'm just a bit disappointed as my expectations were higher but it will not stop me from trying them again Update... So we have decided that we need to go to Theo again couple of days later cause we had such a good time few years back and we decided that we just had a bad day.. So my spouse and daughters ordered the SAME as few days back - the skewers were as good however we sub the potatoes and vegetables with a Greek salad which was excellent choice I have decided to try the Musakah which was the best choice I have done - it was a m a z I n g !!! We went to celebrate my Mom's 65th birthday to her favorite restaurant and everyone left feeling stuffed and thrilled with every part of the evening. We were a larger group and they set us up in a spacious yet private area that accommodated everyone comfortably. Our server was very attentive and catered to our every whim. But my personal experience was above and beyond amazing. I was on a very specific diet with very specific restrictions in addition to being a gluten free vegan so I made sure to call ahead to see if they could whip something up for me. I had no expectation that they needed to make me anything fancy. Just some rice and steamed veggies would have made me happy but they ended up really going all out on making me an incredibly delicious and totally mindful meal that could have fed four people. Needless to say, it fed me for the next three days. Both the owner and head chef came out to see what I thought of my custom made meal and I made sure to express my appreciation and extreme enjoyment of the flavor packed meal they created. It can sometimes be tricky eating out as a vegan never mind throwing in being gluten free AND low FODMAP. *insert frustrating eye roll* So, when places like Theo's take the care and time and express their pride in getting to go off menu to make something unique and appropriate for folks like me, I feel the need to shout out huge props for all to hear. To anyone who has dietary restrictions, requests or preferences, some heads up to the staff is all that's needed at Theo's and knowing this now, I look forward to my next meal there when I make the trip to visit my Ma in the future. read more

We had the platter with lamb, beef souvlaki, moussaka, spanakopita, rice etc. Everything on it was tasty as well as the salad before it. I was kind of surprised it didn't come with pita but with an ordinary bun, although the sun dried tomato topping was delicious. Although it was expensive we felt it was good bang for the buck. Service was polite, friendly and prompt. Great atmosphere too. Would definitely go again to try out other dishes. read more

This restaurant is a great little find. We ordered the platter for two. It had beef Slovakia, lamb chops, moussaka, Greek salad, rice, potatoes and vegetables. It was absolutely delicious. It's interesting how so many have sung the praises of Theo's yet I would say it's average at best, and maybe a little overpriced. We were a larger table with a reservation and they were ready for us. Our server was a little slow to start but quickly picked up her game and was on the ball all night. Our meals came out l at the same time and all hot. I applaud them for 10 mains at once. The food itself was alright. It just didn't scream amazing. The menu is a little overwhelming. There is a lot of dead space which could be used to reduce it to a more manageable size. It would also make it easier to compare dishes... The restaurant itself was quite lively and there was good energy throughout. The decor was fun and reflected what I suspect many Greek homes look like back in Greece. Will I be back? I want to go again. I want to believe the talk around town and give them the opportunity to show off just what they are capable of. read more

I thought I was dreaming that I was dining in a greek taverna with the vines hanging down around us water trickling, and the huge fireplace... This is a little heaven in the middle of town.. I had the rack of lamb it was huge and wonderfully tasty. But back to the ambiance, the floors are terra cotta tiles, brick and white walls everywhere, inside courts yard with upper balconies and large dinning rooms and outdoor patios... probably the most popular restaurant in town.. read more

My go to place when we are in Penticton. Yummy Yummy food. A great level of community engagement (last time there was great elementary school artwork on the walls). Consistently great food. The service is not super fast, but I feel like with the ambience there it's an experience to be savoured. When I was a kid living in the area we would go with my parents and it was a multi-hour experience and exciting to have a big variety of appies, and our meal, and our dessert (now that I'm an adult add to that great wine). The only downside was that there wasn't really anywhere to diaper change except for a vacant booth. But that wasn't an inconvenience as there was one kicking around anyways. read more

Whenever we go for a holiday in Kelowna , we always book reservations for dinner at Theos. We've been coming here annually for the last 5 years and love the Greek food here. I really enjoy the awesome Rack of Lamb dinner and have had several of their other entrees and have never been disappointed. We even took my brother and his family here and they had the big platter with a bit of everything to try. They also loved eating here. And when you wait for your dinner , they stop by with fresh hot buns and a wonderful dip for you to enjoy. The service has always been great and I look forwards to dinner here every year ! But make sure you book a reservations since they fill up very quickly and you may not get in for a dinner out. The outdoor patio area under the grape vines near the front of the restaurant is always a nice area to enjoy dinner in the summer.... read more

Food was fantastic! I ordered tzatziki to start with mains of lamb souvlaki and kalamari, which I shared with my girlfriend. I also loved that they indicated gluten-free options, as some of the members of our party were celiac. Other than that, the service was terrible. We were the only people in the restaurant, and we were left for 20 mins or so before someone considered taking our order. After that, the food took over an hour to arrive and many of the orders were wrong, including items missing from the dishes that were said to be included on the menu. Our server told us that the entrees did no actually include rice pilaf (even though the menu indicated that they did) and that their regular customers know this, as if we should somehow know that the menu is wrong. Also, I was handed two pitas with our tzatziki. After being served, the waitress told us that it was meant to be one pita each, so we had to give one of our pitas to the other person at our table who had ordered tzatziki, so she took one of our half-eaten pitas and gave it to the other end of the table...gross. After eating, we had to go and get the waitress to tell her we were ready to pay and leave, as we were ignored once our food was served. Overall, it was a fairly unpleasant experience, and there was no excuse for the poor level of service considering the restaurant was empty. The washrooms were also fairly sub-par, considering the calibre of the restaurant. I felt as if I was in a low-end nightclub when I entered the washrooms, which were run down, dirty, and smelled awful. The delicious food was the only saving grace at Theos. read more

Had dinner there Monday night. Great Greek food. Had hummus, the lamb shoulder, tiramsu and a very good glass of red wine. Perfect meal to end the day. Service was very good as was the food. I recommend Theo's anytime you are in Penticton. read more

We were pleasantly surprised and impressed with Theo's on our trip through the Okanagan region. It looks like a small place outside, but inside it's very large with wooden beams, a fireplace, and cushioned chairs with a cozy feel. All the food we ordered was very good, from the roasted beet salad to the beef souvlaki and moussaka entrees. The house wines were very good, both red and white. By the end of the meal we were too full for dessert, so no recommendations there. The service staff were all courteous and the service was well timed. The atmosphere is so relaxed and romantic that the dinner turned into a date night. read more

I have eaten here on three ocasions and each has been spectacularly good. I an a former restaurant owner and no push over for giving praise but Theo's has earned it. I have been their twice for longer dinners with dates and once with family including three children under eight. Each time the staff have matched the pace we sought with attentive but not intrusive service. The food has been excellent and generous portions. I recommend the lamb or seafood platter for two. What I enjoyed the most was the decor. The restaurant is beautiful. I took my mother for lunch and I had the Greek salad. It was ok, not the best I have ever had. We also had the humus and pita and that I did not enjoy at all. Quaint location with comfy pillows on the banquettes and real candlelight in the courtyard. Begs you to settle in. Very romantic and transported me back to Europe. Amazing food and service the first time we were there. I had the rabbit, which was completely delicious, and my husband raved about the moussaka. The second time, not so great. The service was lacklustre, an appetizer was forgotten, and my ribs, while tender, were lacking in flavour. I've travelled to Greece multiple times... This restaurant's look and feel is as authentic as it gets. It feels like you are in a courtyard of an old mountain village restaurant in Crete! While the atmosphere and hosts are wonderful, after many visits to Theo's my wife and I believe that better and more consistent Greek food can be found up 5 blocks at La Casa Ouzeria. It is really too bad that the food quality at Theos is not nearly up to the same level as the rest of the establishment. I'm not saying it is bad, just that the food items are hit and miss. I have had great Kalamari and not so great Kalamari here. The Greek salad has very little dressing. Everytime I come to Theos I order the chicken livers and every time I have eaten them they were hard and chewy. Why I continue to order them is beyond me. Having said that, the stifado (Rabbit stew) was excellent as was the Taramosalata dip. The marketing and tradition and history of Theo's is sure to draw you in, but the clear choice for food is 1km away. read more

We went to pick up takeout and while looking at the menu, decided to have a glass of wine. A Glass. Full. of Wine. Awesome - one of the few times I've had a completely full glass of wine in a restaurant...it was an auspicious start. We had appies while waiting for our takeout and they were delicious (oysters and prawns). Our takeout platter was also good. The best part? Our waitress. So friendly, very funny and it was all very relaxing in one of the most original restaurants I've eaten in. We'll go back next time we're in Penticton! read more
