Today, I did a 90-minute massage and left a 10% tip. Afterward, the receptionist directly told me that I should leave more because 10% was not enough. I calmly explained that the amount of the tip was my personal choice and that, as a regular customer, I have always left whatever amount I felt was appropriate. Unfortunately, instead of receiving professional treatment, I was met with obvious displeasure and an unpleasant reaction from the receptionist. I believe that customers have the right to decide for themselves how much to leave as a tip, especially when the service has already been paid for. A tip should be a token of appreciation for good service, not an amount imposed on the customer or something that makes them feel uncomfortable. It is very disappointing to be treated this way after many visits and years of loyalty to the salon. I hope management will take this situation seriously and remind the staff of the importance of treating customers with respect and professionalism.

I got confronted uncomfortably after about "did I not like the service? , and I could get someone else next time , because you usually tip me $20+!" . 1) I do not understand how a 32% tip of $17 isn't enough to hold your tongue, even if it was less than my usual tip of $20. Accept it is wha it is and move on. Confronting a customer on a tip is straight up rude. 2) I rounded up to a total cost of $70 or so , and because of the pricing increase I didn't notice initially, I guess I didn't give my "regular" expected tip as part of the total. 3) the suggested tip at the time very clearly posted (a little awkwardly too ..) was $14 .. which I was clearly above. I wasn't even at the bottom of the minimum expectation. Complaining about a tip from a reliable repeat customer who's never been cheap, what the heck? I would've said this place was 4-5 stars outside of this experience but I found this whole thing very frustrating and rather ruined my day. Over the last few months I've continued seeing Svetlana exclusively for my waxing needs and we've discussed inconsistencies with my leg and Brazilian waxing. There have also been a few issues with sugaring my bikini area. On one occasion the sugaring was so rough and painful the skin was ripped off my bikini area (I decided no more sugaring after that ordeal) and my legs have had leftover hairs time and time again. Svetlana informed me that it's common when you start waxing again and once you've done it for roughly a year it will stop happening. It's been almost a year where I've exclusively waxed with her but there hasn't been a change. When I get home I'm still tweezing missed hair. I decided to ask her about it and she informed me that she doesn't have much experience with waxing my hair type. I was under the impression she did based on her many accolades. She was kind enough to recommend Natalia on JFK Street at another Skin Spa. If you have very fine/straight hair you won't have any problems when going here. But if your hair is curly or thick you may want to reconsider. Lastly, there have also been occasions where I've been accidentally overcharged for services. The first time I called her after noticing my bank statement and the second time I had to email her. The overcharged amount wasn't refunded but was applied to my next service. My quest continues...
