Had 2 90-minute massages so far. Both excellent. Real oriental deep tissue massage + hot stones.

My boyfriend and I stopped in one afternoon while on PTO since it was just down the road from where…read morewe were staying. We were looking for a relaxing hour, and for the price, it got the job done... but it wasn't an experience I'd necessarily seek out again. The vibe was a little different than most places I've been. You pay before your service (and tip afterward), which threw me off a bit, and the overall experience felt more transactional than welcoming. There wasn't much interaction beyond getting us checked in and started. My boyfriend opted for a massage and thought it was fine--not amazing, not bad, just okay. I went with the 60-minute foot reflexology. The foot portion was actually really good and exactly what I was hoping for. As is typical with reflexology, part of the session included an arm and shoulder massage, but this one was a little too enthusiastic. I left wondering if my arms were going to stay attached. A gentler touch would've gone a long way lol... The reflexology area was a large room with multiple chair/beds per usual at a place like this, though I happened to be the only person there during my visit, while the massage rooms were private (per usual). Overall, if you're looking for an affordable massage or reflexology session, this place will do the trick. It just lacked that relaxing, welcoming atmosphere that makes me excited to come back. I'm not opposed to returning, but I also wouldn't go out of my way to do so.

My reflexology this morning was a 3, but I decided on a 2 star based on the interaction when I…read morearrived: I had searched Yelp for reflexology and decided to give a call because it is just a few miles away, and the "early bird" special Mon-Thursday 10-2 looked like a good thing for my first time in. I wasn't sure if I needed an appointment so I called at 10am this morning (Thursday) and asked if I could get a one hour foot massage right away? Nice woman who answered the phone said yes and to come on in...I was pretty happy. I arrived less than 15 minutes later and said that I had just called and what I would like. The man at the desk asked if I was going to use cash or credit, I said cash and asked about the early bird discount; he said there was no discount. It's not about the $4.50 off, but since it is prominently advertised on the website - moving banner ad on top AND the "specials" tab - is it really just a way of getting people in early? I said "OK, but it is on your website"... he said NO. Alrighty then, but 2 photos attached to show that it is! Massage itself was nice, but I would have loved a hand towel to cover the pillow I was leaning against. I realized that I had just showered and washed my hair, and who knows how old that pillow was? I tipped him 20%, barely got a thank you and out I went. If I really needed it I would return with lower expectations AND my own towel to lie on!

come on, people complaining about tips- imagine touching some stranger for 1 hour with all your…read morestrength. (ADAM, I see you!!!!) 50$ + a 20$ CASH tip is so reasonable. Credit cards take out fees from their tip and they probably take ages to make it to the right person. These workers have bills to pay, family's at home, no health benefits, and basically just wait for walk ins most of the day. Sorry Adam but your 20$ tip once a month ain't sh*t. So drop the credit card fees (why the hell would you pay with a credit card when you know cash is preferred at places like this? It's common sense). Pay cash and pay If you don't like it go back to the 100$ + tip massages elsewhere ok rant over , I think this place is legit, good massages, and no frills just as AI describes. Pay cash!

Have been going here for a while with generally good massages , but today's experience , my first…read moreafter their price hike recently , was certainly a bit off putting and galling. The price hike is NOT my problem , but is relevant as you'll see in a minute. I had a 1 hour /$50 massage and tipped $16-17 .. this came to $70 total with cc fees . I got confronted uncomfortably after about "did I not like the service? , and I could get someone else next time , because you usually tip me $20+!" . 1) I do not understand how a 32% tip of $17 isn't enough to hold your tongue, even if it was less than my usual tip of $20. Accept it is wha it is and move on. Confronting a customer on a tip is straight up rude. 2) I rounded up to a total cost of $70 or so , and because of the pricing increase I didn't notice initially, I guess I didn't give my "regular" expected tip as part of the total. 3) the suggested tip at the time very clearly posted (a little awkwardly too ..) was $14 .. which I was clearly above. I wasn't even at the bottom of the minimum expectation. Complaining about a tip from a reliable repeat customer who's never been cheap, what the heck? I would've said this place was 4-5 stars outside of this experience but I found this whole thing very frustrating and rather ruined my day. If I could, I'd go back and drop the tip for that behavior entirely.

Mandarin Healing Spa's good reviews were promising but the massage was one of the worst I've had in recent memory. First, my masseuse was extremely rough, almost sloppy, in terms of technique. There were several parts where she was just raking her elbow or her fist on my back mechanically instead of working out the knots/kinks. I'm not necessarily looking for Mandarin Oriental-level of care but I didn't care for the sensation of feeling like a dummy being whaled on. And I mean that literally - she was actually punching me at one point. Hygiene was also an issue. From the constant sniffles, it sounded like she had a cold and even sneezed but kept right on going (here's hoping she sneezed into her elbow and not on her hands ... still, you should go wash your hands). The bed itself was not comfortable. Again, not expecting a ton out of a no-frills spot but I do prefer not to have particle board under the head rest digging into my cheek. When I checked the mirror afterwards, I had a lovely vertical indent going down my face. The interaction at the end left an incredibly bad taste in my mouth. They're incredibly insistent that you pay the tip, if not the whole amount, in cash, which I can understand with very small businesses but I also would've appreciated a heads-up on the phone when I booked that using a credit card adds an extra $3.75 to the cost. Also, the manager was very pushy in asking for a 25% tip ($20 for a mediocre 60-minute $80 massage) and kept saying how most customers do $20 for an even $100. Regardless of how true that may be, a customer should be allowed to tip however much they want based on the experience they received, and, if it weren't for my desperation to take a shower and wash the germs off me, I would have stood firm. I've never had someone outright demand a higher tip and it was enough to make me never want to go back. Waste of $100.
