This review is long overdue for Thermal Truck and RV (TT&RV). Ron Huff, his son Shawn, and the TT&RV team have worked on my Monaco Diplomat and my Tiffin Allegro Bus at the shop at Thermal and also at my home. I find their specialties and deep knowledge are diesel engines and chassis related systems, not the house part of RVs. Over several years, I have called Ron & Shawn 6 times for problems with dash AC, check engine light, DEF and diesel exhaust, hydraulic leaks, hydraulic leveling jack, engine overheating, and engine oil leak. TT&RV has also performed mobile fluid and filters changes on the Cummins engine and generator. My total cost has added up to over $15K for all the parts and labor. However, motorhome parts are not cheap. All the problems were fixed and all the services were performed by TT&RV to my satisfaction. read more

Over two different trips to TT&RV, we have spent over $10,000.00 in service repairs. The first trip in November was for oil change (both engine and generator), lube and transmission service. While the coach was there, they found several air leaks in our brake system and a small leak in our coolant recovery reservoir. We have an extended warranty which would have covered the coolant recovery reservoir but because how it was presented to our EWC, they denied the claim. Cost us $1,355.00 out of pocket. I understand that dealing with EWCs can be a challenge so I blame TT&RV somewhat. Happy that they found the air leaks which they fixed at a reasonable price. We just got our coach back from them earlier this week. We had several minor issues that needed to be addressed including one of our roof air conditioning units wasn't working correctly. I also had a question about how to fill the fresh water tank in our unit The cost of the air conditioner unit itself was covered 100% by our EWC. The problem was with the amount of labor that TT&RV was charging. TT&RV charged 2 hours of labor to diagnose the problem, then an additional 5 hours to install it. 7 hours total for what should have been 2 1/2 or 3 hours total. That's a lot of money at $190.00/hour. I checked with the EWC and they said they paid the industry standard of 2 1/2 hours. We ate the difference. During the same visit, I had asked how to fill our fresh water tank (I knew that I could fill it directly into the tank but I wondered if I could fill it using the city water connection. They had originally quoted me 1 hour of labor ($180.00) to check it out. When I got the invoice, It was 3 hours ($540.00). When I questioned Shawn, he said that the technician that did the work had to "trace" all of the lines and that is what took so long. There is ONLY 1 line that goes from the water tank to the water pump. It is absolutely ridiculous that something as simple as that should take 3 hours to complete. The bottom line is that we have spent over 10K with these guys over the last 6 months and we think we have been overcharge. We will not be back! read more

Thermal Truck and RV are the BEST!!. On a recent cross country drive we had an inoperable dash air conditioning system on our 2021 30' Class A RV. I checked the easy stuff, (fuses, low/high pressure switch, etc.). All good. Despite being clearly booked up, Thermal Truck and RV (Sheri and Vanessa in the front office were wonderful) agreed to have me stop by and see if they could diagnose a root cause. If the problem was an involved repair (i.e. failed compressor, leak detection dye test, etc.) they couldn't get to me for a couple/few days. Fair enough. Shortly after I pulled up, owner Ron had me in front of the shop and put two techs, Manny and Jerry, on the job. Within 30 mins they had determined the pigtail connector to the a/c compressor itself had a pin that was coming loose in the connector. Some resetting of the pin, a proper wrap with some electrical tape and we were good to go. Their willingness to help out someone on the road and get us rolling again was excellent. Fixed our RV dash A/C to better than it had ever been before, including 2 previous "repairs" done at other facilities. Fixed our leaking leveler hydraulic line; 1st time we could actually use them. Fixed our hood alignment and locking after another facility did not. Installed new house batteries with new tie-down brackets, and found a leaking heater valve that they also repaired. I can't say enough good things about this business. I was on the road and my RV hydraulic jacks became inoperable. No jacks means no slide out. I called Thermal Truck and RV. I explained my situation and that I was in the middle of my trip. They told me to come in first thing the next morning. I was there when they opened the next day. My RV was quickly diagnosed and they went to work. A few hours later my RV was repaired better than new with stronger hydraulic lines. The team was friendly and rescued my trip. It is important to note, Every other RV business I called in Arizona and California had a 2 week wait even when I explained my situation. We were going out of town in 2 days noticed that our generator was not starting. Of course, it was Sunday and nothing was open. The only businesses that responded were in LA!!! So, first thing Monday morning, we were in touch with Ron, who was a life saver. Instead of charging us for them to come out 6 miles away, he offered to take the RV and diagnose the generator. Jerry is the best! I was well taken care of by Mobile Lube Express! My RV caught on fire and then lost brakes coming down San Jacinto mountain to Palm Desert, and I'm a full time RVer. They towed me into an RV site, diagnosed it, picked it up, worked everything out with my insurance, and fixed it in no time. They did a great job, such a great job that I had them also fix my ONAN onboard generator. I had my 2017 Dutchstar towed to another service yard yesterday, New Years Eve, who originally said they could take me for service. They then changed their thinking that it would take to long to get me serviced. They had recommended Mobile Lube Express highly to me so I called to see if the tow could be dropped there?, closed for the holiday weekend. I asked if they had a private number with Ron, the owner and they did. Called and Ron said he be there in 5 minutes to unlock and let us in. While the tow was being dropped I was very grateful and impressed with Ron who's very friendly and professional. I'll be going in Monday to get the repair 'air system not functioning' going. We are traveling across the country in our 5th wheel RV and had a debilitating electrical problem that meant we could literally go nowhere. Had oil change 1500 miles ago. The check list said air filter was good. They never checked the air filter. They checked the gauge. It costs over 23,000$ to rebuild a 2011 Cummins 380 with 27,000 miles. Cummins sales and service said it was the original filter. Filter housing was never opened. The owner blames me because I never asked them check the air filter. So they lie and say it's my fault. Great customer service. See you in a court of law. Marlin S. read more

I will start by saying these guys do good work. They have a nice setup and are convenient because they come right to your rig to do the service. They are polite and friendly as well. Now, that is where it ends because when you get your invoice, the sticker shock alone is enough to make you throw up. Every time we have had our rig services (e.g. oil change and transmission service) we have paid about 300 bucks. Not with these guys, an oil change for a ford 460 and transmission service will set you back over 400 bucks!!! The convenience of having them come to you is nowhere near worth the over-inflated charges they hammer you with. To be honest, save yourself a considerable amount of money and take your rig to someone else who wont charge ridiculous premiums for coming out to you. For Christ's sake, gas is not that expensive, and these guys are just nailing their customers for unrealistic charges. read more

For the first time since 2002 I decided to use a local mobil service company for annual service on our diesel motorhome. I previously did service myself on 2 prior motorhomes or used a sticks & bricks service company. but didn't want to drive 1 hour + each way from our lot in the Palm Springs area to have it done this year. I chose to use Mobil Lube which did a great job. During the service process after starting the coach to air up the suspension so the tech had more room underneath, I had a check engine light which was a result of a DEF system problem identified from obtaining the codes. Dave at Spartan greed to overnight the replacement part and Ron @ Mobil Lube arranged to have a tech out for the replacement the next morning. Ron and crew are the best ! I had an issue with my alternator, after diagnosing the problem , ordering an remanufactured one and receiving it they installed it. Now bear in mind that this was alternator number 4. Before they installed it they were wondering why there were no wire leads , turns out the manufacturer ( Freightliner) had sent the wrong one. Aarrghh ! The next (and correct) one was drop shipped over night. Upon installation and double checking to make sure everything was in working order , they discovered that the voltage was low (13.1 instead of the necessary 14.2) Well Ron and Efrain started to do what nobody before had done. They started to trace down all the wiring to see if there was an issue , there was. The positive leads were grounding out. Problem solved and I'm happily down the road. read more

Had an oil change on our Rv today. Was expecting around $325 based on the quote from the gal on the phone to make our appt. BAIT and SWITCH!!! Ended up over $400+! They would not honor the quote. We had no problems with the service team themselves. Beware as they do not stand behind their quotes! You would think customer service should be the number one priority. These guys have always given me great service on our Beaver Motorcoach. They come to you which of course makes it so convenient. No need to get everything put away and drive to a facility. I have used them several times to service my CAT engine and Allyson transmission. I also feel the price is reasonable for the quality of their work and the convenience. I used these guys last year to change the oil in my CAT Diesel pusher, and repair a leak with my oil cooler. One thing I always do when getting service on my engine, transmission, or generator is to buy all the oil and parts and provide them to the tech when he arrives. I want to make sure I use manufactures parts, high end oil, and the correct coolant. This will also save you money on the job as you only get charged for the labor. So if you don't like the full service price, go this route and save yourself a few bucks. LA Mesa R.V. was to have repaired it 10 months ago and they charged for 4.5 hours labor.I was referred to Mobile Lube by Holland R.V. in Palm Desert. Mobile Lube gave me an Appt. The very next day and their Technician was not only early to the Appt by 15 minutes but courteous, thorough, and had the problem diagnosed and repaired and was on his way within 45 minutes. Serviced my motorhome today. Had oil change and my generator serviced. Price was exactly as quoted which was very competitive. The technicians were great and went above and beyond. They were looking at my rear dual tire for quite a while. The valve stem on inside tire was not connected properly. They fixed that.
