I was so excited to finally try this place, I had heard a lot of really wonderful things about the chef and all the hard work that went into its creation. The dishes did not disappoint. Everything is flavorful and very lovingly prepared. I especially appreciate the smaller menu and rotating dishes. Tonight I tried the spring rolls, phat Thai, and the sausage rice dish. I really really love Thai sausage and it was spiced and fried to perfection. The Thai tea also really hit the spot. I can't wait to come back and try the cocktails and the soup. My only complaint? Surprised and disappointed at the negative reviews below; this place deserves better. We got takeout from here and despite the limited menu, the food is HEAD and SHOULDERS above your average pad Thai joint that's saucing stuff with sugar and soy sauce when it should be palm sugar, tamarind, and fish sauce-- thank you Andy Ricker for upping the game of Thai food in the US. Every dish we had was properly funky with fish sauce, appropriately spicy, brightly fresh, and just plain delicious. Portions are reasonably sized and not huge--everything is so well seasoned and vibrant that it's best to eat each tasty bit with the really well cooked jasmine rice to cool the heat. A note on the stools: think the point here is that the food and ambiance are akin to a Thai street food stall. I'm agonistic about the recreation of ambiance in the Midwest, but it's a little unkind to review a place without trying to empathize with what they're trying to do. We got the: Brussel sprouts: deep fried, crispy, dressed with lime, palm sugar, and soy (should be fish sauce but makes this acceptable for vegans I guess!). Like eating a Thai vegetable chip. Gai yaang: four pieces of glistening, golden brown crispy smoky chicken with a similar sauce to the brussel sprouts. Eat with your hands! Khua Kling: like a larb, a really intense nubbly ground pork with herby grassy bits of lime leaf and punches of super hot chili. Totally delicious and satisfying and requires the... Rice: special note on the rice. I have rarely had rice as well washed and cooked as the jasmine rice here. It was fragrant and softly sticky, as Thai rice should be. These people have standards and it shows. I am a fish sauce enthusiast so I'm already dreaming of my next takeout order. read more

I have mixed feelings. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. They didn't have enough menus to give us each one. The Thai iced tea was great. The food was interesting, but everything was sort of unusual. I really wanted the veggie stir fry dish, but they were out of vegetables. We got the side order of Brussel Sprouts and they had a lot of vinegar and fish sauce. They were okay, a little undercooked and pretty tangy. The sticky rice was also vinegary or oddly flavored and it was dried out. None of the dishes had a sauce. I prefer some kind of sauce to put over the rice or beef dish. It was good, but just not traditional Thai. And Thai food has lots of vegetables and our dishes really had very little-onions, lettuce on the side for garnish. All in all, I would go back one more time, but it was disappointing this time. read more

I'm from Oberlin but now live in Los Angeles, and I've eaten in some of the best Thai restaurants in L.A., NYC, and San Francisco. This place defeats them all. In terms of the flavors and style of the dishes, this reminds me most of Pok Pok in Portland - my favorite Thai place until I came here! I love the sticky piquant chicken wings, the curry layered with egg noodles, and the deeply spiced lamb with kaffir lime. The cocktails are creative and amazing too. They don't stint on spices so be warned - tread carefully if you have a delicate palate. Great decor and a friendly vibe make this place well worth the flight home to Ohio. read more

Let's start this review that my husband and I don't like spicy food. We really wanted to try this restaurant as we've never had Thai, so we hoped for the best and ordered take out. It was ready exactly when requested. It was still hot when it arrived to our house 15 minutes later. Tom yum gai- Thai Potato and Pork Soup. Amazing, but spicy for us. I kept eating it as the flavors were so good, but ended up drinking a liter of water. Gai Yaang -- Grilled Chicken- phenomenal! Would order again. Phat Kaprow- some spice, but tolerable. Husband didn't care for this style of food, but good flavors. Drinks: Passion fruit mojito & Thai basil bliss- generous portion, right amount of sweetness, fresh flavors. Would order both again. Can't tell you about the food - didn't get to try it. I heard about it from the newspaper & was glad for something close by. Closed on Monday & Tuesday so today was the day. Checked yelp of course & then looked at menu on their website. Heard it's been busy so decided takeout was the way to go. They open at 5pm so I tried calling a few minutes before - got voicemail. Waited till 5, still got voicemail. Waited 5 more minutes, then 10 more - still voicemail. Drove up there to order & wait. It was kind of loud in there so I can't be certain what the girl said when I asked why no one answers the phone. Told her I wanted to order to- go. She said they aren't doing takeout yet. Please then, put that on your website if you're not going to answer the phone. I didn't stay. They opened 8 days ago but will be closed all next week. What the heck???? Follow up: dined in recently. Unfortunately not feeling like I can add any stars. No chairs, just stools with wood slat seats. Pad Thai is usually what I get the first time at somewhere I've never eaten. Theirs was disappointing - lacking flavor. Portions were good size. Rest of menu was very different than other Thai places. Just not up my alley. read more

The most unique Thai food I have ever tasted! Thini Thai features Northern Thai cuisine, along with a couple of standard Thai favorites. Be prepared to try new flavors - you won't be disappointed. Our favorite dishes included the amazing tangy and spicy chicken wings (Thini wings), the Laap Gai (spicy ground chicken appetizer with lemongrass and galangal flavors), the Jim Nung (tender beef cheek with kaffir lime leaf), the Gai Yaang (Thai grilled half chicken), and the Khai Soi (mild but flavorful northern Thai curry soup with noodles). Cannot post this fast enough. We met a couple of friends here. We did the Yelp "seating" and waited about 15 minutes. Cute place. We love the area. We enjoy the Feve and Lorenzo's is a go to pizza place. The experience tonight would have been a zero for me. The menu was very limited. We ordered the spring rolls. 3 little pieces came out. They were tasty, but cold in the middle. They were very off putting. We also ordered the tofu app. Again, the tofu was good, but there were crunchies on there that was like you lost a filling in your mouth. Really, really off putting. The waitress could not explain what they were. Texturally, they were nasty and lended nothing to the dish what so ever. My wife ordered the curry of the day with chicken. She seemed to enjoy it. I ordered the shrimp pad Thai. To this point, everything we had ordered or discussed was plain and no spice at all. The pad Thai was bland. The shrimp was almost like dried shrimp. Either pre cooked, over cooked or just old. Not edible at all. I put the few small shrimp on the plate off to the side, as I was not going to eat them. The next thing I know, I had a bit of noodle that got mixed into the pile of red "seasoning" on the plate. It really lit me up. It ruined the balance of the evening. I had to excuse myself to rinse out the heat. I could not taste anything after that. No explanation of what it was. When I commented about how strong it was, it fell on deaf ears. I had maybe 6 bites out of the entire meal. When asked if I wanted a to go box, I looked up in dismay. Two stars because my wife seemed to enjoy the curry. To me it was loud, unenjoyable and a bit pretentious. A huge miss. We will stick with Thai Chili in Avon Lake. Small, genuine and appreciative. Far better options and much better food. I left hungry and unhappy. Next day, I got a canned response about using yelp for call ahead seating. They clearly missed the message. read more

Amazing service, amazing food, friendly staff. They are closed Monday and Tuesday...BUT they ARE open Wednesday-Sunday 5-9. It may be a short period of time but you've gotta get to this place if you're around the area. Sometimes there's a bit of a wait but it's been no longer than about 10-15 minutes. I've stopped in a few times since they've opened and grabbed a bite to eat with the hubby and WOW they have some tasty food. Was chatting with one of the owners after we cleaned our dinner plates and he had said that progressively soon they're going to switch the hours up and will be open earlier so the hours are only temporarily short. But If you're looking for something new to try the food is amazing. The chef himself is from Thailand and all foods are freshly made daily and the ingredients are straight from Thailand themselves! Not to mention if that doesn't reel you in, there's a full bar and they make some delicious specialty drinks. 100% WORTH IT!! Loved this restaurant. P.S., My 3 favorites are the "Phat Thai Chicken"(stir fry), the "Gai Yaang"(all natural half roasted chicken), and the "Sii Khrong Moo Yang"(marinated pork ribs & sticky rice).
