What a train wreck... I have given very few 2 star ratings in all the reviews I have done over the last 10 years but this was bad. We wanted to try something new in Heath and Thiango's popped up so we tried it. The interior is nicely decorated but it still had some Christmas decorations up in mid February so that should have been a clue that something was a little off. When we got seated and settled in we realized that it was really cold interior restaurant - like 60 degrees cold. The waiter, Shawn, was horrible forgot our drink order - 3 times. He suggested having the seafood so that is what we had. I had the seafood platter which was OK - the salmon was over cooked and they forgot to put the crab in it. When I pointed out the lack of crab they told me they would get me a side of shrimp? Wifie had the salmon platter with linguini covered in rose vodka sauce which the salmon was over cooked but the rose vodka sauce was really good. It took forever to get the food out and the waiter stopped by so infrequently that our drinks spent more time empty than one could imagine. They offered to bring us more bread but they ran out. The bread was good also. Our experience was great! Short review summary: Kids eat free on Sunday made the process awesome, service was very good, and food was pretty good. Decor was fine despite the remnants of the old brand still there. More info, for those that care: In my type A personality I noticed a lot. Sure there is still decor that needs attention, like Christmas lights still up (must be a choice on purpose), a few paint locations need touched up, and yes, three surfboards still mounted to the ceiling from the old restaurant, but it didn't change the ambiance much. Music was nice (smooth jazz was playing) and most of all, food was pretty good and price was great. The free appetizer bread was really good, my Chicken Marsala was good, and my wife's Chicken Alfredo was really good. The kids spaghetti and Alfredo cheese ravioli were good too. Nothing tasted like Olive Garden, it had a unique local taste (BTW if you didn't know OG pasta is just bagged and boiled- as someone who works in the kitchen, they'll tell you). Overall the food was cooked well, sauce tastes handmade - salad dressing on my side salad definitely did (balsamic) and despite there being some generic things like iceberg lettuce and generic mushrooms, it tasted pretty good. I think what made it the best was our service, which was outstanding. The place was a ghost town, there was one other party there and us. So we should have had great service. The main host/waiter was great though despite the good timing (he welcomed us and responded to anything we needed quickly). Finally, the price was awesome! We got 2 adult meals and 2 kids meals, with kids eat free on Sundays, so our bill was $43 before tip. Overall we hope to go back and try another time. We had avoided this place because of the poor reviews. Recently looked like things had been getting better so we decided to try. Glad we did. I had the lasagna and my wife had a pasta and sausage dish. Both were very good. Service was great! Probably one of the better waiters we have had in a while. They have made a lot of nice changes to the inside of the restaurant since its conversion to Thiago's. It appears to me they have fixed the issues they had at the beginning and is definitely worth another try. read more

Been wanting to try this place out for a while. I was craving Italian but wasn't in the mood for my typical Olive Garden. I was pleasantly surprised at how good this place was!! The food is made to order and the marinara sauce is amazing! I had the lobster platter which comes over pasta with mussels. Very very good! The rest of the table had chicken parm and shrimp alfredo. They all looked amazing. The service was excellent and the prices were very reasonable with good sized portions. They also do UberEats, Doordash and carry out. Best Italian food I've found in Newark/Heath!!! I'll definitely be back!! read more

We were excited to finally have an Italian restaurant in our area that wasn't Olive Garden. I ordered chicken Marsala and it was horrid - canned mushrooms, stringy and overcooked chicken and a sauce that didn't taste like Marsala. Fortunately, our server was very good and offered to bring me something else. On her recommendation, I chose spaghetti and meatballs- it was good. The meatballs were excellent. My friend got Pasta Salsiccia, which was mediocre. The iceberg lettuce in the Salads was wet, so the leaves wouldn't stay dressed. The garlic bread was a little chewy but tasty. I really wanted to like this place, but it was disappointing. Sigh! read more

Firstly, this place hasnt been open long enough to accumulate the amount of Google reviews they have now. If you scroll the reviews, they are from when this place was Pappy's. They simply just changed the name on Google to be an Italian restaurant and got to keep Pappy's reviews. Kinda shady. We went to Thiago's Italian Kitchen and Bar. They are charging a premium for grocery store freezer section quality food. There is nothing Italian about this place. It's like it didn't fully transition from Pappy's with country music playing, TV's all over, etc. They have things like quesadillas and nachos on their menu. Usually when you are at an ethnic place, they don't cross over to other ethnicities, like this does with Italian and Mexican. I had chicken parmesan and it was tough at times. My wife had lasagna and it was ok. Our mozzarella sticks were probably the best, and they are your average mozzarella sticks. Our server, Laurie (elderly lady) was rude multiple times, which cost her the tip. We asked some questions and she was snarky and direct each time. My wife asked about salad dressing options and she responded "It's on the menu." I asked if I could substitute a salad as I am not a salad eater for something else "Nope!" I asked if we could get more bread and she responded "I was getting to it." Suffice to say, we will never go back and will caution others who may be looking for Italian food about this place. I wouldn't call Olive Garden totally Italian but the atmosphere is better, the food is better and you have options, including bottomless soup. We miss Pappy's. read more

Really tasty italian fare... I had the Pasta Carbonara, and my wife had the ravioli with bolognese sauce. Great portion sizes. Free table bread with marinara. I also had the crab bisque- pricey, but delicious, and a lot of real crab. My wife got a cannoli for dessert. Monday was buy one pasta, get 50% off a second, which made the entree prices comparable to the other restaurants in the area. Worth the trip to the South side of Heath. read more

Took my family there for dinner and had a horrible experience. Once our food was served our waitress disappeared. She never refilled our drinks and I had to go ask someone else for the bill. Great place to eat. Prices are reasonable. I got a Ribeye on Valentine's Day that I don't believe was a Ribeye, bc it was tuff. And it wasn't their special, it was off the menu. That's why I gave a 4 star. Waitress should have checked on my steak, and she didn't comeback until it was almost gone. The food was great. We got the bruschetta which had great flavor and came with arugula and balsamic vinaigrette. We got the alforno pasta, chicken Alfredo, and Greek salad. We asked for additional bread. Never got the bread!!! Both times staff insisted that the item was not ordered, but showed being charged then having to wait for item to be prepared. No offer to comp item for the wait. Food quality is not worth the price. The food was not a very good quality. The meat sauce reminded me of something you would get from a can like hot dog sauce. We got the pasta al forno and stuffed shells with meat sauce. Certainly an option vs the chain Italian restaurant. The food was good, little pricey but not too bad. Recently tried their pizzas, not too bad, nothing to wow you on the pizza or menu items. Worth a try as others may be wowed. Definitely will be visiting again as it's nice to have an alternative from big chain Italian.
