UPDATE Been living in the IE for 5 years now and this place, OMG, is STILL the best Thai restaurant I've had!!! My husband and I still get about almost the same things and I swear, they never miss! We're certified BIG BACKS so we always get 2-6 dishes every time we are here (we love left overs in this household lol). Their food palette is right up our alley and portion is pretty good. This is our go to when we craved Thai food. The flavors are good and the service is fast and efficient. The restaurant is spacious and clean. My only complaint is the portions are on the smaller size, some "shrinkflation". The spicy beef salad, drunken noodles, and fried chicken are my go to's when we come. read more

Have you eaten rice yet? My favorite Thai saying, it's literally how you ask ,"how are you?" The rice here, the pad Thai, the chicken satay, all fabulous! The curry however: too soupy and watery! I prefer my curry thick, like a thick sauce/gravy basically. We sent it back to be thickened but I think that there was a language barrier because when they brought it back to us, it was still exactly the same, but the lady was smiling so happily that we didn't say anything. It still tasted very good though. The ambience is laid back, not a fancy place. Fake plastic plants on the tables. Hip-hop and other random American music play in the restaurant, not the traditional Thai that I usually hear in Thai restaurants. The place was very crowded and busy, a good sign. I have to say that the shrimp pad Thai was absolutely fantastic. They usually make the pad Thai too dry with not enough sauce and it was very saucy, very yummy. I couldn't stop eating it, and that peanut sauce. ......Oh my God!!! It was so good, we asked for extra peanut sauce twice. Price wise it's not too bad, less than i expected. My wife and I stopped by for lunch today. She ordered Pad See Ew with shrimp and I had the Pineapple fried rice with chicken. The food was good as usual but we saved some to have later for dinner. The server offered to box our leftovers. We appreciated the service. However when we opened the boxes my wife had one shrimp left and I had less than half of what I saved. I had a wonderful dinner here! The food was delicious and came out quickly, even though the restaurant was very busy. My daughter especially loved the food and really enjoyed her meal! The Tom Yum was especially flavorful and definitely my favorite! The service was excellent. The staff were friendly, attentive, and constantly checked on us and refilled our water. I was especially impressed by the tall server with the ponytail. She was incredibly hardworking and brought me extra chili very quickly, even during the busy rush. I had a great experience. When we ate lunch there today, the person serving us offered to pack the leftovers for us. When we got home half of the leftovers were missing. I had pad see ew with shrimp and my husband had pineapple fried rice with chicken. I had several shrimp that I cut up to have tonight for dinner since I had the leftovers. Only one shrimp was left in the dish. My husband had a portion of his missing as well and one piece of my shrimp was in his to go box and one piece of his chicken was in mine. read more

Food was amazing, staff is very welcoming and kind. My husband ordered the pad se ew and spicy fried rice, both he loved and were decent portion sizes! I ordered the yellow chicken curry, although very tasty, I only had 3 small pieces/bites of chicken in the whole container. My wife and I have tried a lot of Thai spots around the area and Thippawan Thai Restaurant is easily our favorite. The curry is sweet, spicy, creamy, and just flat out good every single time. The cashew chicken was great too, but the mango sticky rice is honestly what keeps bringing us back. Most places give you a tiny portion like they're rationing mangoes during a national shortage, but this place actually gives you enough to enjoy. I ordered the crab fried rice and was disappointed. The portion size was small compared with the same order from Thai restaurants in OC. Also it lacked spices. I'm used to Thai food being spicy. I get crab can be pricey but they could have given me more fried rice. I paid over $20 for a dish that didn't taste like a good Thai dish. So my search for Thai food in the IE continues. read more

This Thai restaurant stands out as the best in town. We always start with an order of Tom Kha Soup to share, and the flavor never disappoints. This soup is a required order every time we dine here. The pineapple Fried Rice is another dish we consistently enjoy. While we sometimes order the Pad Thai, which is delicious, we have recently been opting for the yellow curry, as it is perfectly suited to the colder weather. The spices and flavors are outstanding. The service was great. However, the Thai yellow curry wasn't as good as we would have expected. It was cold, the potato was under cooked in the curry. A little disappointed for the curry. Highly recommend all of the Thai noodle dishes. We also got the pad see ew, tastes fantastic and authentic. I wish we only got the noodles and not the curry. My girl got the curry and she not happy with it. Girl not happy, me not happy... Otherwise, the Thai pork jokey was tender and the parking was convenient. Good for family gatherings and small dates. We've been looking for a good Thai restaurant. My fiance & I travel up North often and one of our favorite dishes to have when we are up there is Thai food absolutely delicious . So it's been a hit and miss the last few times we've tried our local Thai restaurants. There good but we were wanting what we experience up north . Thippawan is very good if you consider that there's a smaller Thai population this far east of LA. The servers are super friendly and the restaurant is very spacious and clean. The first thing I noticed while here was how clean the bathrooms were. It's a strange comment, but if you've ever been to some restaurants in LA, the bathrooms are awful. And better yet, if the bathrooms at Thippawan are this clean, I can only imagine how clean their kitchen prep is when making our food. Big A+ for that. The food itself is very basic Thai cuisine with your standard Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, and Thai Fried Rice offerings. The food is very good, but nothing that will blow your mind. And had that nice char on the noodles that is expected when ordering Pad See Ew. Honestly probably the best Pad See Ew I've had in a while, especially in the IE! The fried rice was good, but def not the best I've had. Favor is decent, spice level was just right, but the only thing I would change is the egg. Update since my review in 2021: Prices are now about $15 per item. Serving sizes are good. Both dishes we got (pad see ew and spicy fried rice) were both good, but a bit sweeter than we'd prefer. We asked for the spicy fried rice to be mild, but it wasn't spicy at all in the end. Great table service! read more
