This was a cute place from the outside but unfortunately the bartender was the rudest we encountered in both of our trips here to KY. We are regulars at the local bars in our home town and several of us are former bar staff. He was cocky and arrogant and treated us as if since we weren't locals he couldn't care less if we spent money here. We had a large group and were looking for a place to camp out and drink for the night. Unfortunately for them we took our money elsewhere. If it weren't for that one employee they could've had some decent business from us all week. read more

This is a great little bar to have a drink, watch some live music, play a game of pool (only one table), or a game of darts. If you have an artistic side, grab a piece of chalk and leave you mark on the walls. The bartender is friendly and drinks are reasonably priced for the area. read more

Yep it's a dive. You have to appreciate a bar that strives to be a dive. I enjoyed the back pool table room and the fact that you can write whatever you want on the walls. I would post pictures of all the good wall postings I found from past guests, but too many profanities. read more

We were looking forward to going here and spending our winnings from Churchill Downs. However, the guy at the door refused our entry because I had a full Red Bull. I told him we would just leave then because it was completely full and I don't like to waste money. He smelled it and knew it was totally just Red Bull and didn't care. So we left, got into 4th street live with my Red Bull with no problem and even got in for free at PBR and they let us bring our Red Bull in with no problem at all. A staple hangout for industry folks in the Downtown Louisville area. Service is adequate for a "dive bar" and the owner is a little abrasive, but perpetuates your expectations of the traditional dive bar. The staff is consistent and courteous, and the drinks are cheap enough to keep you there. Karaoke on Monday and Thursday for the singing enthusiast. read more

One of the worst experiences at a bar in years. I came into town for a girls night from Nashville expecting a great time and was severely disappointed. This "dive" bar charged $5 to enter the establishment and then the band proceeded to play 2 songs before they left. At first the bartenders were courteous, however the bartender with a pony tail, glasses and hooded sweatshirt was quick to aggravate multiple customers. She was not only rude to me but also several patrons in the vicinity. The most aggravating and insincere portion of the night included this particular bartender participating in banter then quickly changing her attitude once she cashed is out. When she received her generous tip, she quickly became rude, hostile, and abrasive. At this point, I have no intentions of ever returning to this establishment and I will alert my friends in the area to avoid this rude and abrasive bar. My intentions for a fun, girls weekend was NOT to be treated like garbage. Should this rude bartender report to a hospital requesting medical attention, I would not think twice before treating her as a human being rather than being rude and personifying any personal issues onto another undeserving individual. read more

This is the cleanest bar ever. The staff is very helpful, even the local patrons are nice and are a fun group of people to hang out with.

Place is obviously a dive, worth a visit. Highly recommended. No happy hr bc the deals are endless. Live bands could require an entrance fee. If not, best times that I've been around. read more

I've seen some bad reviews on this place, but I personally don't get it. I suppose some people had bad experiences, but I never have. The staff is always friendly and the prices are significantly cheaper than some of the stuffier surrounding bars. I love a good dive bar and considering this place is around the corner from my work, it's a perfect little hang out for me. The drinks are stiff and cheap, the atmosphere is different and relaxed, the staff is friendly, there's a pool table and the occasional band. If you haven't popped into this place yet, I suggest you do it at least once before forming an opinion. Enjoy! read more

Great drinks. Awesome bands on Friday and Saturday nights. Just an overall fun atmosphere. I love this place.

We stopped in hoping for live music but missed it due to the holiday, but got good drinks and service.

My night here was everything my night at Tidball's should have been, except that nobody died and everyone got brownies. Recommended.

If you love a good dive bar, then this is the spot for you. Friendly bartender and patrons, great drink prices. If you are in Louisville and just want a cold beer without the corporate crappiness of the 4th St McDistrict and don't mind a bar covered in graffiti, saunter over a block or two to the Third Street Dive and pull up to the bar. read more

The service was wonderful, but some local hated that it was crowded so she stopped the karaoke and refused to turn it back on until we all left. Most of the crowd is from a tourism conference, so that's some bad luck on their reputation. We were having a great time and willing to pay for many drinks, so we don't understand what the problem was. read more

I used to go to The Dive back when Gordo owned it. I had not been in quite some time and wasn't sure how the place might have changed now that it's under new ownership. Granted, it is different but it has stayed true to its low key character. The people there are almost like family. Everyone knows everyone and if you're new you will get a hello. The drinks are cheap and they have great bands on the weekends. The bartender was really friendly (haven't met the new owner so I can't attest to that.) Gordo's presence is definitely missed but the dive is still a great alternative to the overpriced downtown bar scene. Edit: I should note that I prefer this place after 10pm. When I've gone earlier there is a lot of terrible Def Leopard and Phil Collins music blasting. Seems that whoever takes over later in the evening puts a stop to that. It is not nearly as heavy on the punk as the place used to be and for that I can't rate it as highly. read more

The owner Lynn is a cool lady and takes no guff from customer. There used to be a machete behind the bar for unruly customers, lol. No really! Pinball machines here are nice, the single pool table is nice and bathrooms are always coated in interesting graffiti. Tory is the best bartender, so tip her well or buy one of her bowties from the wall, cause bowties are cool! UofL and UofK ones. read more

This venue stiffed two bands tonight, one local and one from Nashville. We tried to get them to honor their deal with us, but nothing we said mattered. They made money off the backs of local musicians and kept the cut we earned. Sad, but I won't spend another dime there. read more

I went here the other night to see a Lexington band for the second time called Those Crosstown Rivals. There is literally nothing better than standing in a dive bar, taking a shot, a swig of whiskey, and looking up to see four dudes in flannel, sporting beards, rocking out like it's the last night of their lives while singing about their daddy getting drunk. The staff is awesome, it's not too loud, they have darts, pool, and great live music. This is the BEST BAR ON EARTH! read more

I love this place. The drinks are cheap and the people are friendly. I'm not sure what problems people have with the owners, but they were friendly and liberal with the shots. Great place to watch a show or shoot some pool without having to try and fit in. I can't wait to get back! read more

If I could give it a "0" I would. I experienced the absolute worst customer service ever from the supposed MANAGER at this establishment. I was in town for a conference. The bar overcharged my account. I came back 3 days later with my receipt and proof of the overcharge from my bank account. The employee at the door was polite and asked another employee to bring me to speak with the manager. Upon arrival near the manager she took one look at me and IMMEDIATELY got rude and defensive without even finding out what I needed. I spoke to her calmly and with respect despite her becoming increasingly and unnecessarily belligerent trying to explain and show her the overcharge. Her response was, "I don't have time for this shit". I responded with "excuse me". The gentleman standing next to me was appalled as well. I continued to try to explain to her the situation. Her response again was "bitch...get out or I will call the police". Not once did I raise my voice at her or curse or call her out of her name. All I wanted was my money that was due back to me. I responded by saying "No need, I will call them for you". I proceeded to call 911 on HER at her own establishment. I waited for the police to arrive at which they re escorted me back into the bar. Once she saw me with the police her, once again rude, response was "I guess I have to talk to you now". She continued to be rude, disrespectful, and belligerent, and even was putting her hand in our faces even with the police present. One officer told me there was no use trying to reason with someone rude like her while the other officer firmly addressed her unneccessary rudeness and continued disrespect telling her that she needed to calm down. Several customers walked out and left because of her response and behavior. Never in my 34 years have I ever experienced such blatant ignorance and disrespect from someone that is supposed to be a professional and "manager". The officer suggested I file a report for fraud for the overcharge since my issue was obviously not going to be solved by the so called "manager". If this is the type of customer service and experience that you want, then I guess this place is for you. However, myself and my friends will NEVER step foot in this place again or spend a dime of our money. read more
