Had my friends from my hometown up to visit and got denied service because we all had Massachusetts ids. Server decided they were fake without scanning or calling to confirm. We offered to provide second forms of identification, one of my friends even having a passport card, and they still refused. I've never had a problem with this in my life and have been served at every other place on the street. Don't go here if you're not from NH I guess. There's much better places to eat in Dover anyway. read more

Wow! Ok now that I have your attention. I have eaten at the Portsmouth location once before and though it was good. Today we had pizza delivered. I love pizza. I love pizza without tomato sauce but I do not purposely scope them out. I will eat most any pizza. We got the A-1 prime rib bomb. O-M-G! One of the best pizzas I have had in a long time. I didn't even realize it was sauce free until it got here. I absolutely loved it. And the crust! I don't always eat the crust. This stuff was amazing! Chewy, flavorful! This place used to be my jam. Food was awesome, beer was cold. The food has gotten a little lacking, my gluten free bacon pepperoni pizza barely had bacon, and was underdone. It was tepid when I bit into the first slice, and had it sent back for another spin in the pizza oven. All the beers are still excellent, but they've all gone up in price by a couple bucks. The Moose Mac pizza was barely edible. It was over cooked and barley had any toppings on it. The tenders were okay but seemed sloppily put together (like the pizza). We visited a year ago and it was adequate at best. We wanted to give this place another try but unfortunately it was still the same. Today was my first visit to the Thirsty Moose, and probably my only. I will begin by saying that the staff was very friendly at the front of house, and my server was terrific as well. However, after a 20 minute wait for a table, and when we were seated, this place was a mad house. Our party of 5 was seated at a table that sat higher up. I had the seat on the outside part, and I lost count of how many times I had to duck or move because another server would almost hit me with a tray. One server actually came into our table space so much so that she bumped into another person in my party who was sitting on the opposite side of me. The prices are average for the area and sports bar prices. My party ordered 2 pizza's. When they arrived they looked fantastic. But sadly they were just lacking. The pizza sauce had barely any flavor. The cheese was good. The crust was one of the worst I had ever had. No flavor at all. The crust was also covered in flour. To the point where when I took a bite, it felt like flour was all over my face. My hands were covered. There was flour all over my shirt, the table, you name it. Yuck. I can make a better pizza at home at a fraction of the cost. I did have left over pizza to bring home, I'm hoping I can sprinkle on some spices and a few toppings to bring it back to life! One visit was enough for me. I don't think I will be back. PLUS SIZE / LARGER CUSTOMERS- This place was fairly accessible for those of us who are on the larger size / plus size. We have ate at the restaurant and got take out for years, and the food is always hit or miss, but we loved their nachos so we got them regularly. Tonight we ordered bbq chicken nachos (like we often do) and they doused the nachos with extra bbq sauce and added two extra containers of bbq sauce in the box and placed a note in our box that said " happy new year, we gave you extra, extra bbq sauce, because you love it. The place was hopping when we visited recently. It was a typical style sports bar set in a really cool old-style building right in the heart of downtown. With TVs all over the place it was easy to catch the hockey game that was on as well as watch my fave college football team win the night. The service at the bar was a bit more consistent and attentive than at a table, but that was probably because it was busy the first night we went. Being a wing-addict, I went for all things "Buffalo." I started with the chicken wing dip which had just a hint of spice (could have probably used a bit more wing sauce in the mix), but was delicious nonetheless. The wings though..they delivered everything I was looking for. I got them fried and sauced in honey mustard. Amazing. It was unique as they were served as whole. I mean, the pics are self explanatory. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a sports bar with wings. read more

Went to have lunch and was hungry for a good hamburger, I ordered medium and it came well done, service was ok.

The food was great, my buddy and I had the mac and cheese with hotdogs which was delicious. Our waitress was amazing and rushed our food order as I had to be somewhere in an hour. When I got back from where I came from to get my friend and food, some guy who worked there came up to our table and asked us to leave? At first we thought he was our waiter and was going to order a beer butt he just told us to leave with no explanation. So uncomfortable and unprofessional. We weren't intoxicated or rude to anyone as we both had 1 beer or obnoxious so my buddy and I were very confused on what just happened. I have never been asked to leave a restaurant in my life. I know, I know... post covid, there are so many restaurants and bars affected by lack of staffing and it feels like they "hustle" is a thing of the past. This was the worst 40mins of service. The bartender had NO CLUE where anything was, ended up spending more time talking to the rest of the staff trying to find things. Dirty nails. Poured a cocktail shaker into a glass but shook portions into the beer glass next to it. We were in the Dover area for a hockey tournament. We planned in advance to stop at this location because we found the menu appealing. The beer selection is huge if you drink beer (I don't). The food was your typical pub food. We REALLY enjoyed the fried pickles. Just the right amount of batter and the dipping sauce had the right amount of spice. Wasn't a fan of the salad - something about the lettuce... The California club was well enjoyed as were the sliders and chicken tenders. The Thirsty Moose Simplicity, Selection, and Service We had our evening meal and several beverages at the larger bar seating area to the right as you enter the place. On the evening of October 12 a dark haired, friendly, female bartender served the two of us with kindness, patience, and grace. I asked for a Gluten Free menu with the socially necessary explanations and apologies for having to ask and she was wonderful about providing me with options. Then I ordered a cider called bRosé, displayed the appropriate embarrassment and shame, and again she was amazing. My dining companion was sure about his first drink but with 50 or so taps to choose from the follow up was baffling him. Our bartender chose for him, likely based on body language, palate, and personality, and she nailed it!! The food was great, a meaty gluten free pizza for me, followed by Spin Dip. My pal had the meat egg rolls and a meat wrap and we both felt sated and pleased. When I asked that the drink checks be split for each of us and food combined on one she was graceful again and accommodated our every odd request. GF, YES!! Service, absolutely!! Food, enjoyable! I was very disappointed. 3 of my friends and I came here over the weekend and they sat us at an 8 top. I ordered pepperoni pizza and it was almost impossible to eat. First of all, it was just covered in grease. I could not pick a piece up to hold it because it flopped straight down and the cheese, pepperoni, and sauce came sliding right off because of how thin the dough was stretched. The crust was the only part I was really able to eat and enjoy. The rest of the pizza became this pile of cheese, grease, and pepperoni that I left on the pan and did not eat. BRUNCH REVIEW: just went here for the first time for brunch. I was actually pleasantly surprised by how decent the food was (admittedly I didn't have high expectations). I got eggs, sausage, tater tots and toast. My OVER MEDIUM eggs were perfectly OVER MEDIUM (aka I don't want egg yolk everywhere on my plate but just a little bit, also aka your egg preference is a pain in the ass). It was impressive! Tate tots were perfectly crispy. Didn't care for sausage. Toast was fine. Best part though: $2 MIMOSAS! Who does that? If I had known earlier in the meal, I would have drank my mimosas faster! My friends got Eggs Benedict, the hen house and some scrambled eggs, and they were very happy with it. The hen house looked impressive if you're up for a challenge. General comments on the bar side of this place: I'm very familiar with this Thirsty Moose as well as the Portmouth location. Pretty fun bars! Lots of beer on tap so that's always a bonus. Today we stopped by Thirsty Moose with our two very calm, well behaved dogs after being turned away by The Farm restaurant on Portland Ave in Dover ( supposed dog friendly but apparently not, as a very snide, smirking hostess informed me). The Thirsty Moose was beyond accommodating, with several other dogs enjoying the patio. Jesse was our server and he was great, lots of good beer advice and he was fast! First time here was tonight and we were not disappointed. I ordered the buffalo chicken dip (it was dry and not as good as expected but it wasn't horrible). We also got chicken tenders and poutine, the chicken tenders were delicious and they have quite a good selection of dipping sauces to choose from. The poutine was also very good, not as salty as most places and they use real mozzarella cheese which was refreshing. They have a very large selection of beers, at least 6 pages if not more in the drink menu, well over 100 to choose from. The wife got a moose juice cocktail and had to ask for extra vodka because it literally tasted as if they didn't put anything it it. The atmosphere is very relaxed but very loud, there's multiple tv screens with all different sports playing. It's a great sports bar/restaurant. Overall, we had a great experience and a very fun night. We'll definitely be back. read more

From my today's visit, I can highly recommend the Pizza Rustica and so is the Tzatziki Burger. I would have never thought putting Tzatziki on a burger and I must admit it was delicious. The food was cooked to perfection and the service was right spot on. Most impressive is the big variety of beer they have on tap. A great spot to end up at the bar trying something new. read more

We were given one of them there light up vibrating thingies to await a table to be free. While we waited we bellied up to the Bar. It was packed and it was busy. It kinda seemed like you have to be sitting at the Bar in order to get noticed. 2 seats conveniently freed up and we were warmly greeted and we ordered our round. Once seated at our table in the Bar.... We perused the menu. We ordered Tater Skins, Garlic Knots, and Hot Pretzel Sticks. Yummy. Everyones entree's were good, I ordered the Macaroni and Cheese with Chicken and Kielbasa which was a HUGE plate o'pasta and a ton of meat that almost gave me the "Meat Sweats." Four words: good drinks, good food. More? Ok. Let's start with the ice coated bar to keep your drinks cool. And how delicious the adult beverages are. Not a mixed drink kinda person? Well, they have over 70 beers on tap, and more bottled. Food. Yummy delicious food. Appetizers with twists (spicy tater tots, anyone?). Huge burgers. Half price, delicious pizzas on Thursdays (I'm sure they're always delicious, but the half price part is only on Thursdays). Try the Moose Mac pizza, especially if you're a fan of Big Macs. Service? Enh, so so. While sitting at the bar, the service was fast and polite; couldn't ask for better. While sitting at the table... Not so much. Had to flag down our waitress to get refills, and waited on them for what seemed like forever. Not terrible, but not expected when you are sitting in a spot your server has to pass about every minute. The atmosphere was fun- lots of screens, lots of sports, and windows that open so you feel like you're sitting outside when the weather is nice. And the prices were reasonable. Went to dinner there this past Friday night before a show up the street at the Strand. Food was excellent and the waitress was great. The place was hopping with a Friday night crowd and yet our food came fast and hot. Actually so hot we had a wait a minute to eat it. (A pleasant surprise instead of having food that sat under a warmer for 5 minutes) we had the jumbo pretzel for an appetizer and these are amazing! She had the steak bomb wrap and I had the pastrami on pretzel bun. All the food was amazing. She had a regular drink and I ordered "specialty" drink from the drink menu. Both were good but my specialty drink was $10 (price not listed in the menu) , like I said , it was good , but it wasn't $10 good. This is legit the worst restaurant I've ever been to in my entire life. This place was a mess. Kati, our waitress was the worst waitress I've ever had in my life, no exaggeration. She never checked on us, she has no social skills, and just all around horrible. She also spilt water all over this poor man next to us. Then she spilt more water all over the floor - what a mess! The interior design of this place is so obscene. I suck at interior design and I could have done better. The bathroom and kitchen are directly next to the seating area, so I was able to see my food sitting in the kitchen for 25 min. Let's get onto the food. Got spinach and artichoke dip and the artichokes were the size of a baseball it was disgusting. Gave us pita bread with it, not even toasted or anything. So to the entree... got my burger medium it was black, not any pink in it, just completely overdone. The avocados were as hard as a rock and it was just overall disgusting. The sweet potato fries were cold, don't ever get them they sucked. Kati legit didn't pay attention to us or any of her tables for that matter. All she does is count her tips.
