While visiting my oldest friend from high school, we went here for brunch. I had beer for breakfast! I really enjoyed being able to sample beers from the immediate region. My eggs benedict meal was just delicious. I want to know how to make my eggs that tasty at home. There have a very hip, modern atmosphere with a funky vibe. Update! Still good, LOVE LOVE the pizza. Half price on Thursday nights. It's a great thin crust and the toppings are fresh and well-distributed (ie, not all in the middle of the pie). They cook in a brick oven and will do it just right if you like it more on the well done side. Also love the hummus plate and the poutine fries. Bartender Mark is the best. The beer selection is unbeatable. My only complaint is that it can get very loud, probably because of the high ceilings. read more

A solid choice in downtown Dover. The Thirsty Moose is just up the road from the children's museum, so it takes the cakes as the only bar on the Seacoast that has Nick Jr on the big screen tv. Overall the service was was on point and the food was good. They have a ton of beers on tap and was a good stop with the kiddos. read more

Just left this place and it was an absolute nightmare. Kati was our waitress and her customer service skills need some major work. A friend of mine and I went for the $1 4oz pours or "flight night". We both ordered Moonlight Meadery's "those little apples". It was like drinking simple syrup, it was 100% pure sugar and it was hard to even swallow it. I mentioned it to the waitress to see if someone could check/taste it to see if it was the beer or just us. She gave us a bunch of shit about how the table next to us ordered it and no one complained. I explained that it was clearly not drinkable as I barely had even taken a sip from it. She said that she would take it up with the manager which she never did. I had to do it myself. The manager said that she would speak to Kati about it but the only thing they were willing to do was to exchange it for something else. I finally got her to just take the two drinks off the bill. Neither apologized for the horrible service or even cared about our concerns about the funky tasting beer. We have been regular customers that had been going at least once a week for quite some time. This is the second time the service was horrible. We won't be going back! read more

Went to go treat myself to a quick lunch after a hard day in court. Upon entering I quickly noticed that my abuser who I have a restraining order against was at the bar. I left quickly. I called the restaurant and spoke with a staff member, Anna, who was so sweet who offered to give me a call when they left so I could safely go in to eat. I called back after 30 mins at 1:30pm to see if they had left and was told by a different staff member that management said staff was not allowed to help me. I asked who the manager was who made that decision and they refused to tell me. I repeated all I wanted to know is if they were still at the bar and got the response that I should just walk in and look around myself to see. Used to love coming to Thirsty Moose but now I'll choose to stay away and advise friends and family to do the same. read more

Our waitress Jane was absolutely terrible. She is the worst waitress I have ever had. Had to wait 10 minutes for drink orders. Didn't get drinks for 20 minutes. Jane didn't pay attention to food allergies that were mentioned. Our table didn't get food for over 30 minutes. One of our food orders was wrong and Jane never checked to see if it was correct. She never asked how our food was or asked for drink refills. I would never recommend coming here, biggest waste of time and money You could ever spend. read more

We decided to take a ride to a new place with friends and we ended up at the Thirsty Moose in Dover. We started with drinks and the chili nachos. The nachos were the best I have ever had. The food was decently priced and good quality, with a good selection of beers. However, they do not allow you to socialize with the staff, the staff gets easily offended and uncomfortable when you start a casual conversation, and they asked you to leave and will refuse to serve you. When you ask for information on what you said to make them uncomfortable, they will not tell you. This place could of easily had 4 stars, but it doesn't even deserve the 2 stars I gave it. But the worst part is they refuse the serve and make fun of people on the autism spectrum read more

Stopped by here for lunch today and it's a nice bar. The atmosphere is pretty laid bad. Service was friendly and attentive. I'm chose the rueben burger with fries. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the pastrami was actually thick, not like the paper thin slices you'd normally get. The portions were generous and definitely tasty. Think I got shorted on a pickle but no big deal. I'd go back just to try their pizza. read more

Having to live up to the Moose in Portsmouth is a big task but the second location can do it! The staff is excellent, friendly and knowledgeable. I never sat with an empty glass and service was incredibly fast. Had the chicken Thai pizza and even though it was crazy spicy it was very good! 100 something beers on tap doesn't hurt either. The atmosphere is great, I love that the windows fully open to the streets. This is just what Dover needed! read more

Great service and a great local beer selection. There was even a top 5 list of beers recommended by the staff, which I thought was a nice touch. I was hoping for so much more going in here. The service was quite slow, despite the fact it was an afternoon and there were only a few other people in there. Our appetizer (buffalo chicken dip) was quite good, but the sandwiches we got were, quite frankly, Meh. Around the end of July my party of three came in around 5pm and were seated right away in a relatively empty restaurant. The server greeted us after some time but that was fine. We did have to ask for food menus a few times but again that's fine. What wasn't fine was that the server had to tell us multiple times that she was new which she should never have to apologize for. I noticed she had a 6 top and eight top and eventually tables out side. A new server should never be sat that many people all at the same time. I know short staffing has effected most restaurants, as I work at a busy bar in downtown Portsmouth but that is not an excuse to over seat a new server. The food was great (as always) but took a while to get out to us and I did not receive my side until after we had all finished our meals. Again food and service was great given the circumstances. Wait there's more... I came in about a week or so ago. We were sat in the that little side bar area despite there being a sign that said "private party." This waitress was the rudest waitress I have ever experienced. She seemed as though she absolutely did not want us there. She barely looked at us when taking our order and dropped off our food so quickly and walked away. We had ordered another round of drinks that did not come until after we had finished both meals. When we politely reminded her that we ordered another round she went over to the POS system to ring it in... We asked for a round before our meal came. When it was time to give us back the check book to sign, she dropped it off and didn't say one word. Just dropped the check book and walked away. We don't know what we did to make her act like she had no time for us and did not want us there. Wait there is more.. I want to give this place the benefit of the doubt every time. The food is so good and who can go wrong with their selection of beer. I came in very recently and sat at the bar with a friend. After a few minutes went by one of the bartenders said to the other "are you taking care of those girls?" and then a few minutes later on of them finally came over. We ordered food and barely had any interactions with the bartender. Both completely ignored us but was serving the rest of the bar guests. We wanted a second round but both girls would either look at us and walk by or just completely walk by as if we were not there. We had clearly empty glasses but no one even attempted to ask us if we wanted another round. We even nicely stacked our plates to make it easier to clear AND STILL not one of the bartenders even looked in our direction. Finally someone came up to us asking for another round. This type of service is Completely unacceptable. read more

I will say that even though this place seems to have an entirely new staff every time I go, they are always super cheery and eager to please! This is just ok pub food, but the wings are pretty good if you get them grilled. I'm visiting from California and was introduced to this place via a local recommendation. The beer selection is extensive and encompasses a very eclectic group. Drinks are a little expensive, but not bad. The menu is varied also and generally speaking American, food comes out fast , servers are friendly and over the duration of my 3 weeks stay I have gone twice. I was displeased however that they do not accept anything but an US issued ID/license or passport, foreign government issue licenses or IDs are NOT accepted, leaving much of my foreign party without drinks. We didn't plan on coming here.. But the restaurant we planned on going to was closed.. I remembered walking by this place in the summer and it was happening, so we decided to give it a try. The beer selection is AMAZING. They had a whole page worth of halloween/seasonal craft beers! They even had little samplers that you could order (highly recommend). For apps here I recommend the moose rolls and wings. These are double wings, but they have loads of meat and i prefer them to standard wings now. We've been here many, many times, and we come for the fact that and beer selection, knowing the service will be generally awful. Until today... The food is solid and consistently good. Not spectacular, but a solid and consistent Good. Frankly, I think the pizza is awesome. I recommend sitting at the bar when Christina or Nate are bartending. (Ideally when they are BOTH bartending.) Their service is outstanding. Fun, friendly, knowledgeable, and what service should be. I hope Thirsty Moose can retain these two gems, because Service is what's been significantly lacking at this location. We were coming into Dover for the week and were ready for dinner. Glad we chose this spot. It was busy but we were seated right away. Great service. Good prices for kids. And you get a lot of food! I really enjoyed my night out at Thirsty Moose, we kept a tab going and the bar tender was very attentive and remembered all of our drink orders. I didn't personally have any food but what other people I was with ordered looked decent enough to eat. Classic bar food. The only thing I wished was that the mixed drinks were a little stronger, and more lounge style seating. Great beer selection. Bartenders in the large bar are funny, friendly and knowledgeable. Food is your standard pub fare but very good nonetheless. Lots of tvs and can be a bit noisy at times if you're looking for a "family" meal. Standard "peak" times can be very busy or incredibly quiet. read more
