I really love getting our weekly meals from Thistle! I am gluten free and try to eat healthy, which is a lot of work to cook and prepare every meal for our family all by myself. A weekly break with delicious food is amazing! It is a little expensive, but the portions are generous and satisfying. I also can tell I'm getting quality ingredients. We'd order more often if we could afford to! read more

I signed up for a three-meal/week vegan plan, and I've got to say it's been one of the better choices I've made as far as my food is concerned. I haven't ordered any take-out at all since I started. The variety, freshness, and reliability of the meals have taken a huge chunk of stress out of my week, enabling me to eat well and feel a lot healthier. The meals can be eaten as-is or heated, and pair well with fresh greens to make a filling salad. I have yet to be disappointed -- and if the meals I have received so far are any indicator, I have no expectation that I will be. I am considering increasing my subscription, despite the cost. It has been, in my view, a worthwhile investment in my health and time-savings. read more

I'm so happy and thankful for thistle! The food is amazing and the prices are competitive. I've tried other vegan meal delivery services and the flavor seems to all be the same - eating gets boring real fast in a weeks time. I appreciate thistles choices, add ins, delivery notifications, the nifty tote bag, and excellent customer service! I love that the menu changes often too. Also, I know my meals are fresh as they are delivered throughout the week. Couldn't be happier! read more

I love the concept of getting healthy food delivered to me. I had no issues with the deliveries they were always on time and nicely packed. The overall quality of the food was good. My only complain is that you can't customize the ingredients in the meals. I hate lentils and it seemed like every dish I got had them. Overall it's not a bad plan, i just wish there was more flexibility with the meal choices and ingredients. read more

Thistle is the reason why I have a reasonably good nutrition. Left alone I would live on cookies and beer alone and thanks to Thistle I have at least 5 healthy meals a week. I have never been big on salads but now I love them. I am not a vegan nor a vegetarian and there are still plenty of meals when I eat meat. So far the delivery has been spotless (helps to live in a house, from what I hear most food delivery companies have problems with apartment buildings) and I like the fact that they delivery around 7am, which is a great time because the food thieves are still sleeping and it is still cool out there. I also like that they pick up the bag and the cold packs. I once tried blue apron and the amount of junk that I had to dispose was unreal. Revision 11/22. 80% of their dinners contain mushrooms and it is getting tedious to sort them out. I will have to look for a service that has some sort of customization or preference choices. read more

My wife and I tried Thistle for four weeks. Their food does not agree with us. We did not get a request for customization for the fifth order we received last night. None of the food is edible to us. There are hot chilies, jalapenos and Brussels sprouts. All of this would give us great intestinal problems. The food they delivered was no specified by us and as I have already said, we never ordered. We were under the impression that if we did not order anything there would be no food delivered. It is not correct that Thistle can decide what food we will eat without our approval. We have tried to cancel the service, but their site does not work with a PC and my wife's tablet cannot get the pages they want filled out. This is a rip off scam. It should be easy to cancel something we do not want. We called the phone number at the bottom of their web page and all we get is an answering machine during business hours. They are only open for phone calls on Monday, Thursday and the cancellation cutoff is Thursday. I am ready to contact my credit card provider and have them change my card number so that Thistle cannot charge my card. That should get their attention. read more

I love the concept, it's amazing what they're promoting. Since it's a very niche & small audience for organic, local & nutritious meal delivery services, I appreciate that companies like thistle are cropping up. Some meals (like the dolmas pilaf) are seasoned well and are really creative! Unfortunately those are the very few meals that hit the mark. I've also unfortunately not had the greatest luck with their customer service. Either they'll reply a couple days late or not address some of the issues from the email at all. My very first delivery was messed up where I didn't get my husbands meal plan subscription delivered, but just mine. And they apparently couldn't deliver it with the next meals kit but just gave me a Thistle credit which wasn't very helpful Hot that week since I needed to buy those meals elsewhere. Coming to the meals themselves, I have a few critiques: 1. Each of the meals have way too many starches/carbs and less so the vegetables. For example a Fennel harissa bowl recently had quinoa, sweet potatoes, peas and garbanzos with some vegetables. Sure, it's healthier than what you'd normally find outside in restaurants, but we're also looking for more nutritious food here at Thistle. 2. The food generally has been pretty under seasoned so far. I usually end up adding salt or lemon juice to perk up my meals. I wish they understood the balance of salt, fat, acid & heat 3. All the dressings in the individual meals are for TWO servings which isn't very obvious unless you read the label at the bottom (or the side) very carefully. I ate my salads and dinners for an entire week with two servings of the dressings unknowingly (which btw still didn't help with the blandness). I didn't want to be eating that many extra calories that I didn't need. I wish they'd just have a single portion of dressing instead. One of the reasons I got thistle was so I wouldn't have to read the labels and figure out if I should eat this or not. I want a straightforward and easy option that's both nutritious and delicious Hopefully they fix their delivery & food issues soon because I want to believe in this company and keep supporting them read more

Knocking off some stars after all. I am really baffled how no one responded to my queries about the status of my delivery today. It is pointless calling because no one answers or calls back. read more

The food is pretty good, but the calories are just too low. Unless you are trying to lose weight, I couldn't recommend this meal service. Many of the breakfasts are under 300 calories and the dinners under 400. There are also a lot of salads, and I enjoy a little more variety. read more

Yes the meals are bit more expensive but the quality of the ingredients and service reflect that accurately. I subscribe to the vegan dinners and I am absolutely blown away by the taste each time. Creative, healthy, balanced and delicious! After four weeks of service, I had never had a meal I didn't savor read more

The food is very good. Delivery seems to happen at dark o'clock, so often the bag is left out overnight. In my neighborhood, that means the critters get it. They also don't want the bags back, which I feel is wasteful. read more

Food is usually good, if it gets delivered (sometimes greens are sorta slimy and do not seem to be fresh, as some other reviews have mentioned). I would maybe live with that except I have had recurring issues with deliveries not being made. When this happens, Thistle charges you anyways, even if their delivery services tells them that they couldn't find the right place to deliver to. (shady!) Customer service is not helpful, and will email you a zillion times apologizing and giving out $5 credits but not fixing anything. A premium service should not have these kinds of issues. read more

My husband and I have been using this service for about 6 months now and initially found it convenient, but slowly started to get bored of the minimal meal variety. Almost every other meal is a bean stew, which tasted good to begin with but got dull after eating a bean stew twice weekly. The boredom, however, was worth the convenience as we are both so busy and don't have time to cook most nights. However, now it has become more of an inconvenience with multiple issues with delivery and customer service all in the last 6 weeks (I don't know if some ownership has changed or they became lax with their quality control): 1) my husband and I both had meals delivered and my meal had half the quantity of his with numerous missing ingredients. 2) 1 week ago Wednesday morning came and we had no delivery - I contacted them and they told me it had been delivered to the wrong address and they were sorry so they refunded that particular delivery. That's it- they refunded me for a service they did not provide but now I'm left with no meals for 2 days (and I don't do grocery shopping because I count on these meals), so ended up spending more money on take out! After kicking up a fuss they offered $10 credit which won't even cover the cost of one of their meals!! 3) today, only my husbands meals and not mine arrived. In addition, one of the boxes of his meals was open so the food leaked all over the bag leaving him with only 1.5 meals. Yet again left in the lurch. On top of our busy schedules, the boring meals, the cost (this service is not cheap), the frequent delivery issues with food not being delivered and the poor customer service I think we will be canceling our subscription soon. I regretfully recommended this service to numerous people who signed up but will no longer be doing that. I've heard there a number of services that now offer similar healthy meal deliveries so will be trying our luck with one of them. read more

Thistle was an awesome jump-off point for us to get eating healthier. The food was always interesting, and I can't remember any dish that I didn't finish. The customer service team was also extremely helpful when we had a delivery mishap- which I was relieved about because had I based my decision off of the bad reviews from a few months ago, I wouldn't have moved forward. It seems like they've put in a lot of effort into figuring out their operations, so kudos!! read more

Updating: after I posted the review, Thistle customer service jumped in and fixed the issue. I got the food at the end of the day but they also credited my account, which I appreciate. Since then it's been 5 weeks of smooth deliveries and yummy food. I'm super happy! I've now tried both vegan & omnivore options. read more

I hate kale. I'm not too big a fan of most vegetables for that matter, so I'm probably not in Thistle's target demographic. But by random chance (and cheapness on my part,) I just tried one of their meals. It was called a power ball or something. I don't know, but the first ingredient on the container was kale. I'd never eaten kale and not gagged, so I wasn't exactly thrilled. But somehow, this actually tasted good. Like, good enough for me to write a review on yelp about a salad. I feel kind've dirty that I liked it so much, but I did. So I figured they deserved a shoutout. read more

This is my third week of Thistle. I really had high hopes. The salads are fantastic, but pricey. The meals seem to be a different story. I've had 2 that I really liked. I've trashed 3 if them because they just didn't taste good. I've decided to say screw convenience and go back to my own vegan cooking. read more

The food is really good. I love that it's organic and the portions are generous, so I'm always full. The issue I have with Thistle is the amount of plastic this company is producing. While their packaging is "plant-based plastic," they don't provide their customers with directions on how to recycle the containers properly. Food needs to be rinsed out so no remnants remain, plastic must be dried, and the stickers they put onto the containers must be removed. The stickers they put on are nearly impossible to get off. They have a system for reusing their delivery bags. They drop it off the lunch bag with the ice packs in it. The next time they come to deliver they drop off a new bag and pick up the old. Please find a system for doing this with your food containers! This is accounts for nearly all the trash/recycling we produce in a week and it's really upsetting knowing that a wellness brand isn't going a step further to make it easy for customers to recycle the plastic (and teaching them how - like Siggis Yogurt does) or creating using reusable storage containers. Please reconsider this. Your customers are wellness oriented people who care about their health and protecting our Earth is part of that. read more

I was originally drawn to Thistle because sometimes I don't have much time to cook and I need to take meals on the go. It started out great and I loved the meals so I stuck around. I've been with them for over 6 months now, but recently I had been noticing the meals weren't as varied and not as flavorful either. One thing they started doing that I really disagree with is charge more if you substitute a vegetarian dish for a meat option. Whenever I did that, it was because I was not pleased with the vegetarian selection (especially because I avoid soy and most times soy is their vegetarian option) so I don't understand why I need to pay for their lack of variety. However, the reason I cancelled is I lost count of how many times there were problems with my order. Once they delivered the wrong meal, once it was later than my delivery window time and I was already out for the day so the food sat out there until late at night, and countless times I never received my order. Sometimes I even got a text message saying I had received my order but there was nothing outside my door! Customer service was always slow to respond, taking a day or longer, and never identified the problem. Once they sent me a picture of where the food was delivered and it was nowhere near my building. I asked them to ask the driver so I could go pick up the food and they did not respond. This morning, I got a text message at 6:39 am from Will saying he couldn't find my building and was going to be around for 5 more minutes. I was asleep and woke up to find this lovely message and the reality that once again I would not have any meals to take for half the week. It became clear customer service has very poor communication with drivers and that there are multiple drivers, including some who have never been here and get lost in my neighborhood. If it's so easy to get lost, why not have the same driver or have instructions?? By the way, nobody I've invited over ever got lost. Thistle is not any cheaper than ordering a meal to go at many healthy places such as "Tender Greens" or even buying a salad at Whole Foods, and is definitely not worth sticking around with after all these problems. What a terrible service. If you sign up, be warned. read more

The best thing that happened to me food wise. Gluten free, vegan food with organic, whole food plant based ingredients, that tastes great and is delivered fresh few times a week. Reasonably priced. read more

There are some seriously high-strung people reviewing on here. Maybe such a niche market for food draws the Bay Area's most high-maintenance people. In any case, here's my review: This is one of the few things I tried after seeing instagram ads. I am trying to lower my cholesterol and have found that going vegan helps with that. I almost signed up months ago but was so turned off by their instagram ads focusing on losing weight and saying things like "even my husband noticed the difference in me" (huuuge feminist eye roll). But then I caved b/c I was simply not able to find tasty vegan food that was ready in a few minutes. Thistle fills that need! Pros: --It is good, and varied. It isn't just 'variations on lentils and black beans" but legitimately tasty food with a lot of variety and a lot of different textures and tastes. [ I noted another reviewers comment that the sauces are actually for 2 instead of one servings so will now dial back how much sauce I use.] -- It is filling. I'm satiated about 15 min after I'm done eating it. Just after I finish I still feel like I need to eat more but after sitting for a bit I realize I'm totally full. And no sugar crash. -- It is literally ready in 2 min -- they take back and reuse their packaging. I'm not sure what' sgoing on with the user who says theirs isn't picked up but mine always is taken. It is a huge plus when compared to other similar delivery servicies that pack in huge ice packs that take up your whole freezer and you end up throwing away. Cons: They're still figuring out kinks with delivery, I think. I had once where they came 30 min past the delivery window (which is brutal for me b/c I have to buzz them into our building and staying up until 10:30pm when I have a 5am wake-up is not cool) and another time where the ice packs - and food- were warm. I contacted customer service and heard back quickly and they refunded me. Also, since I live in an apartment building where I have to buzz them, Thistle isn't 100% convenient. When I had flight delays and wasn't going to be at home there was no way for me to to notify them. Or if I want to go to bed early and Thistle isn't here yet, I have to wait up for them. I think it'd be perfect if I was in a house or a building with a doorman, but I don't so the delivery can sometimes be really annoying. Finally, you aren't able to add meals just for a week. I have the smallest subscription (3 dinners a week) but would totally order more if I could do it ad hoc. Some weeks i have lunch meetings, other weeks I don't. I would love to be able to add a few lunches for those weeks when I don't have meetings, but there is no way to easily do that without changing your whole plan. I understand they need to have consistency and predictability in order to plan, but it is also a missed opportunity for them to get more sales. I'm not interested in their snacks and juices. I can buy that stuff at my corner hippie grocery whenever I want. read more

Major issues with delivery, which has ultimately led us to cancel. The food is delicious and well-prepared, and although they are unable to accommodate my husband's multiple food allergies, they accommodate most of them. I get to eat the meals that he is allergic to. We both like it. That's the only reason we have bent over backwards to try to deal with their tremendous delivery issues. They simply cannot deliver within any window they specify, or (for us, in the last two weeks) at all. Our delivery window was originally between 8 and 10 p.m. Sunday/Tuesday. We received a few deliveries close to 10 p.m., but the rest somewhere between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m., or not at all. In the most recent case of the missing delivery, the driver took a picture of the delivery bag, but too close up to show where they delivered it to (we did not receive it) around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday night. On Tuesday morning, an empty bag appeared at our mailbox. We don't know whether (a) the bag was misdelivered to an address, that person ate the food, and then returned the bag to us two days later (b) the driver took our food home, ate it, and then dropped off the bag some other time (we have no idea where the driver lives, or who they are) (c) the driver dropped off the empty bag somewhere in our neighborhood, taking home our food. We emailed/called/spoke with a "customer service rep" each time this happened---initially getting a quick response via email, credits to the account, etc---although for the missing Sunday delivery, we got no response via email, and did get a call back on late Monday from a manager. On her advice, we switched our delivery time to Wed/Mon 6 am -8 a.m. Today (Wednesday, 9:45 a.m.) we are still waiting for our delivery. Having spoken to a customer service person, who told us "your driver will be there in 10 minutes," though without explaining how she knew that, I am still waiting. The customer service rep said that the company has a meeting every day to address delivery issues. I asked her to please forward my recorded phone call to the company owners. This is the worst delivery service we've every dealt with, across industries. I'm stunned that they are seeking to expand to Oakland when they cannot even deliver to the Peninsula. ***UPDATE after Ashwin's comment: Once again, Thistle did not deliver our meals to us. We have tried every delivery window, I think. Last night was supposed to be 1-5 a.m. Interestingly, no other delivery service has trouble finding us. We regularly have our dry cleaning picked up, Amazon deliveries, Fed Ex, UPS, etc. Last night, we left the Thistle bags on a chair, front and center on our deck, right next to the stairs. Had the delivery person even made an attempt, they would have seen the chair. Unfortunately, it's become beyond clear that Thistle cannot deliver to us. It's too bad---the food is really good, and it was very helpful to us. We will try a different food delivery service and see if we can have a better experience. read more

If you have a food allergy DO NOT order food from here. They do not list all of the ingredients on their labels. I have a sesame allergy that usually results me going to the er. When I spoke via chat with a help desk person I was told I can look at their ingredients and trade out meals that do not contain sesame - which I did. When I ate the Thai bowl (no sesame listed as the ingredient) I had a reaction which resulted in me using my epi pen. They refunded me for the meal - but still expected me to eat the meals delivered for the rest of the week. A meal is not worth your life. read more

Ordered Thistle for the first time today and was happy to note all their food appears to be vegan and quite innovative. The spoonbread (think corncake) was sweet and delicious. I only gave it 4 stars because there was so much bread and very little entree for the price, especially when it's meatless. Chia pudding was soo good too. Inspired me to start making my own. I would definitely order again and hope the portion size is more balanced. Also, Thistle needs to get an app ASAP. You can only order from a desktop computer which is rather behind the times when you live in SF... read more

The admin service was extraordinary, especially Meghan. Having such helpful and pleasant service these days is a real pleasure

Thistle has been a life-saver for me with 2 kids and a start-up. I had the desire to move towards a more plant-based diet in the new year, but didn't have time to execute it. Now with Thistle, my weekday meals are covered and I don't even have to think about it. Added bonus: I'm eating a lot more veggies and new foods! And veggies are quite tasty. #whoknew Keep at it, Thistle! read more

temporarily stopped delivery because we were going to be away and the following week they continued yo go ahead and deliver!!! their delivery person tang our ring bell multiple times at 5:30 in the morning. no one was available yo answer their phones when i called to follow up!!! also they made multiple charges to my credit card during the time the service was suppose to be stopped - seems very unprofessional. i left a message for them to call back - lets see if that happens and/or how long that takes!!! read more

My husband & I are vegan & living through a home/kitchen remodel. Thistle has been a life saver! We have been getting 3 dinners a week for 3 months now. The meals are fresh & tasty. I am coconut allergic & husband is not. They are good at giving me separate sauces when coconut milk is used. We are seeing greater variety lately & food is tasty & easy to heat up in a skillet. We live in a remote area in the hills & delivery has been routine & surprisingly seamless. Thank you, Thistle, for helping this vegan survive my remodel! read more

Today was the first time I tried this service. I got the Young Thai Coconut Water and the Super Veggi Rolls. The water was ok, not really worth the $5/8oz to me; its kind of expensive and I wouldn't order it again, but the rolls, however, were fantastic. The salad was a blend of a lot of different types of greens and the pickled carrot and cashews were a nice touch. The dressing was not very sweet, but it was tangy and had a nice kick to it at the end and paired nicely with the sweeter taste of teh cashwes in the salad. The sushi rolls were amazing! Where else can you get mushrooms, asparagus, and avocado all together in a roll? It came with 8 generous pieces and in combination with the salad, I was feeling full, but good. I also ordered one of their new date truffles for dessert. It was really small for $1. and it was ok, nothing really special, just an expensive coconut covered date. I would definitely order these rolls again, though! Super fresh and the deliver was about 7-8 minutes from the time I ordered it online. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. So far three out of five deliveries did not arrive. I had purple carrot for months and they never missed one delivery. Amazon never has had an issue, I live in a very easy to navigate apartment community. I actually liked the food a lot, the few times it actually arrived to my house! The service was so inconsistent. The two times it actually arrived at my doorstep they sent me a text confirmation. I knew something was wrong when they didn't send one. I email them and they send me a picture of the food on the wrong doorstep and address. You would think the customer service rep would at least look at the picture before asking me if this "looks familiar". It's so disappointing because as a busy person you plan your schedule around these meals, counting on not needing lunch for work that day. I wish I would have read reviews before I ordered. On top of everything they are so used to getting complaints they aren't at all phased by it. They aren't very responsive and you can only reach them by email. They credit your account for missed deliveries when they should refund you immediately and offer free meals to make up for it. They gave me a free juice that as expected, never got to my doorstep. They finally refunded me when I canceled and said I would receive one more delivery for free since it was too late to cancel it, the food never came. Despite the high price of meals, they are too cheap to hire professional delivery drivers. Safe yourself the frustration and do not sign up for this BS at a high price. read more

I'm so sad! I've been using Thistle for months, and at first I loved it. I have referred 6 friends to sign up for lunch delivery. Within my first month, the salads were big, full of flavor, with great protein options (tofu, shrimp, other meats). I have noticed a significant decrease in the quality and flavor of the salads in the past 3 weeks. The containers have been half full, the flavor is bitter greens with bitter dressing, and they stopped offering tofu and shrimp (they only had shrimp once, now the only vegan option is beans). Some days, I have to force myself to get the $13 salad down, just because I paid so much for it. I've shared my feedback with the company, but not received a response. Why did you change?? read more

Not many superfoods(sometimes just lentils/beans and lettuce). Haven't seen a blueberry yet. One salid said pomegranate seeds but I didn't see any. A tofu egg scramble said sweet potato but white potatoes were used!! LOTS of sesame/sunflower seed/oil, rarely see olive oil. I don't think the chefs have any idea about a mega 3/6 ratio or superfoods. Mostly salads. Desserts are high in fat and high in "carbs" (sugar is not listed!), maple syrup is frequently added. Food is fresh, mostly ORGANIC, and tastes good if you like salads. read more

I really really wanted to like this service. The meals -- when they arrived -- were filling and nutritious. They gave me energy with no later carb crash. But they came to taste monotonous. There is no variety. It was all a variation on the same theme. Grains and beans with leafy greens and a sauce. They changed up the beans or the vegetatables or the grain or the sauce but you come to just crave a different texture or type of meal. They tasted good enough for health food, but not delicious enough to compensate for their continued and maddening and disappointing incompetency in their orders and delivery. It's just absurd and unacceptable. At first I was willing to cut them some slack but they never got the delivery together. First, they delivered at a bizrre and creepy time -- 10 p.m. on a Sunday night. And that was the only option. Late at night. It's unnverving to have a stranger on my porch when I'm in bed. And it means you're never going to consume one of those meals fresh, unless you wait for dinner at 10:30. It will always be at least a day old. And that was when the delivery actually arrived. They misdelivered at least twice to the same neighbor. Thistle sends a text telling you the delivery is () minutes away or that it has arrived. But they are rarely accurate. I thought perhaps when daylight savings time arrived they could get better with delivery. There would be more light. How can someone see addresses, etc., at 10 at night. Really poor planning. But by the third time they notified me it had arrived -- and it hadn't -- I didn't bother going in search of it in my neighborhood. I was just done. I had provided them detailed information about how to find my house and where to place the bag. I put a box just inside my gate to make it easier for them. They ignored it. Even then they couldn't get it right! You subscribe to a food service for convenience. You pay through the nose for it, with delivery. I even threw in a $10 tip to be generous. I wanted to support this company. But for service like that? So in addition to the mis-deliveries, there were at least two to three weeks when they said they couldn't deliver on the appointed evening. Or the delivery wouldn't happen at all that week. Sorry! What the hey? What of the poor subscribers who were really counting on that meal? Then on one of the weeks they actually delivered, they delivered meals with chicken. I've been a vegetarian for decades. They were inedible to me and a sad waste of good food. I tried giving the chicken to my cat but it looked like shredded paper. Even he wouldn't eat it. So their protein bowls just include some pork or shredded chicken thrown on top of the regular vegan meal. Their track record was so abysmal for the short time I subscribed. They have polite customer service people but you get the feeling they're just there to listen to complaints they undoubtedly hear over and over. They seemed indifferent. No pledge to do better. ONe other point. They don't pick up their delivery bags. They tout being green. For WEEKS I left my bags out on my porch to be picked up. The delivery person over and over would drop off a new bag and place it next to the previous weeks' bags, which they left sitting there week after week. After I ion absolute exasperation I asked that they pick up the bags. I hate to see them wasted, with the cooling materials inside. They said they would the netxt day. It's been a week. They're still on my porch. I'm sick of looking at them. SO DONE WITH THISTLE. You get a mistake or two and some grace. But this company is grossly incompetent. For a good reliable service try Hello Fresh. You make the meals. But they're fairly easy, delicious, varied and you can count on them to actually arrive. For the same price. When I read the number of complaints about Thistle and their terrible delivery complaints going back to 2016, you realize this is a company that is not trying or trying hard enough to address their problems. Like giving delivery people detailed instructions on where to find each house and where to place the delivery. It's not hard to have the common sense to pick up an empty green bag with your company logo sitting in front of your face. Do you think I just like to decorate my porch with your bags? Ay yay yay! read more

Oh no... Its really good :( Ordered super Veggie maki roll, glow juice and Cashew Almond Date Truffle for lunch. Got it in under 5 minutes. Amazing. Food looks exactly like pics you order from online unlike some food delivery services. Although, the juice was tiny. Yes it says 4 oz online, but who knew 4 oz would look so small in person ingredients listed on label, lid actually closes and stays on box (obvious things that other services some how mess up) Rolls and salad were perfectly proportioned, dressing also very good That truffle was on point. Very dangerous at $1 each. Can't wait to try their chia pudding and other juices! read more

Thistle - Food Delivery Services Near Me

Good food, though it gets repetitive after a while, but TERRIBLE service! They have messed up my home's orders so many times I've lost count. My partner and I are strictly vegan and gluten free, and he cannot have peanuts or soy. We also do not eat any refined sugars. Thistle highlights the fact that they offer vegan means, do not use any refined sugars and can exclude common allergens like peanuts and soy. Well, on several occasions now, they have completely screwed up our order. Once they sent us salads with shrimp on them when we have specified only vegan meals because we've been vegan for over a decade! It was disgusting! Another time, they sent salads with peanuts on them and they even had a label on the front that noted my partner's allergy to peanuts (meaning they contain should not contain peanuts). Way to almost kill someone... Good thing I caught it! As other reviews have noted, if they screw up your order, they will give you a credit on your account, but if you were counting on that food for the day, you are just out of luck. No replacement is sent. And they just keep writing over and over, "sorry for the inconvenience..." But nothing changes. After nearly killing us with the peanuts, they said "I sincerely apologize that this has been your experience so far with Thistle! This is definitely not the standard we hold for ourselves and our deliveries. I will be speaking directly with our packing team to ensure that there is an extra set of eyes on your deliveries and will reiterate the special attention that needs to be made to protein choices and allergies." So, there was supposed to be extra care paid to our deliveries from that point forward, but since then, they have still screwed up several orders and sent us stuff we didn't order and can't eat, didn't send us what we did order and generally been a completed hassle and waste of time. Also, I have had to ask them several times for the ingredients in their ingredients like "Bob's Red Mill gluten free muffin mix." Guess what it contains? Sugar!!! When I told them that this was contradictory to their statement that they do not use refined sugar in their products, the wrote the following to me "We understand the discrepancy with this muffin mix and the culinary team is reevaluating this product as it does not list the sugar as "raw". They will be discussing alternatives as you are correct, we do not use refined sugars in any dishes (this unfortunately product event is being evaluated)." That was weeks ago and they still are offering the breakfast muffin with sugar in it, even though their website says "Do your meals, juices or snacks contain any added sugar? Our juices do not contain any added sugars of any kind - we let the fruits and veggies speak for themselves! All of our food is incredibly low in sugar as well. We never use any white sugars or artificial sweeteners in our meals or snacks. We don't add sugars of any kind to our lunch and dinner meals with the exception of a pinch (i.e. 1/2 teaspoon) of maple syrup or other natural sweetener to the occasional salad dressing or sauce (these are always served on the side). Our breakfasts are usually naturally sweetened with dates, fruits, or our housemade juices / almond milks, but may occasionally contain a natural sweetener such as maple syrup (never more than 1 teaspoon)." And here are the ingredients in the muffin mix: Gluten Free Flour Blend (Sweet White Rice Flour, Brown Rice Flour, Potato Starch, Whole Grain Sorghum Flour, Tapioca Flour, Xanthan Gum), Sugar, Baking Powder (Sodium Acid Pyrophosphate, Sodium Bicarbonate, Corn Starch and Monocalcium Phosphate), Sea Salt, Natural Vanilla Powder (Sugar, Cornstarch, Vanilla Extract). So, basically they are lying to their customers and not doing anything about it. Forget talking to a human being about this. You can only correspond through the chat feature on the website. And, after I complained several times through the chat, the chat box on my account disappeared and I haven't been able to get it back. It shows up if I log out of my account, but if I log in on any device (my home computer, work laptop or phone) it disappears again. Now, I can only email and it takes them at least a day to respond. For a service that is supposed to make your life easier, it has actually made my life harder and more frustrating. Great concept, good food, good price, terrible service! read more

I actually think Thistle is top notch. It has greatly improved since the last time I used it (3-ish years ago). I've been using the service for 2 weeks and delivery has been on time and reliable. Food has been packaged well. And the salad portions are huge! I am a big fan of the creative salads, the tofu scrambles, chia anything, curries. I probably was just meh on one out of the 15 meals I have had so far (probably a pasta) but I've been blown away buy quite a few meals. The dinner portions could be bigger, but I guess you aren't supposed to eat so much before bed. The cost is reasonable and it's crazy convenient. I like that you can swap meals and easily pause your membership. Company feels very transparent. Plus no cleaning, cooking or shopping!! read more

It's so unfortunate because the Thistle food is actually very good, and the price is fair, but my god, they have to get their shit together when it comes to the business side of things. I had deliveries not show up, my account kept getting cancelled, some weeks I was able to make substitutions and other weeks I couldn't... total mess. Even though the food is good, I ended up switching to another company that actually knows how to function as a business. Thistle, please get better so I can give you another chance! read more

We have loved the food at Thistle, but we are very disappointed in their delivery operations. We ordered 13 meals (modifying our initial order before the cutoff deadline to add more meals), and they only delivered 7. We emailed them two days ago, and they still have not responded. Moreover, they charged us for the 13 meals. We had planned our entire week around food delivery for all of our meals and was highly disappointed by their operations. We also have food allergies, and we're concerned that if they can't even get the number of lunches and dinners correct, they are likely not checking for our allergens in their meals. They have stickers to denote when allergens are substituted, but I now don't have confidence that they're doing this throughly if they can't even deliver the right number of meals. We had planned to order all of our meals through Thistle due to challenges of finding food delivery services that accommodate allergies, but we are planning to cancel if we don't hear back from Thistle in the next day. It's unacceptable to charge but not deliver the full set of meals-- and then not respond to emails for multiple days. It's too bad, as we do really like the taste and quality of the food. read more
