I went to Grand Strand Dentistry back in October for a tooth extraction. Initially, I was told the…read moretooth could be pulled for around $300, which I was fine with. While there, the staff strongly encouraged me to get an implant instead and explained that they use Cherry for monthly payments. I asked them to run my insurance and give me the total cost before I agreed to anything. After waiting about 30 minutes, they came back and told me the total would be $1,900 for four visits, everything included. Based on that information, I agreed and signed up with Cherry. The first two visits went fine. However, when I came in today for my third visit, I was suddenly told I owed an additional $1,700. I explained that I was already enrolled in Cherry and had agreed to a total of $1,900. The front desk employee admitted she could see the quote I was given, but said what she had in the system was different. After speaking with the office manager, they still insisted I owed $1,700 more. I made it clear I was not agreeing to any additional charges beyond what I was originally quoted. I also asked for a partial refund since, at this point, the only service performed was pulling the tooth. They refused. So in the end, I paid $1,900 for a single tooth extraction--something I was originally told would cost about $300. Please be very careful if you go here. Make sure you get everything in writing and verify exactly what you're agreeing to. This experience was extremely disappointing and feels very misleading

Dear Customer Service,…read more I am writing to express my disappointment with the care and treatment I received in the CMC Emergency Department on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at approximately 8:30 a.m. Before I begin, I want to make it clear that I have always had outstanding experiences with CMC. About three and a half years ago, when I moved to this area, I decided that CMC would be my healthcare provider because every doctor, nurse, and staff member I had encountered was kind, compassionate, and made me feel welcome. Unfortunately, my experience in the Emergency Department was completely different. When I arrived, the gentleman working at the registration desk did not acknowledge or greet me. I had to approach him and ask if this was where I needed to register. Instead of welcoming me or asking how he could help, the first thing he told me was that there were a lot of people waiting, there were no beds available, and that I would have a long wait. He repeated this several times throughout our interaction. At the time, there were only about five people in the waiting room. Whether there were five people or fifty people should not matter to someone seeking emergency medical care. Patients come to the Emergency Department because they are worried about their health, and hearing repeatedly how long the wait will be only adds to their anxiety. While checking me in, I explained that I was experiencing chest pain that was radiating down my left arm. His response was, "I don't care about your arm. Tell me more about the chest pain." I understand that he may have been trying to focus on the most urgent symptom, but the way he said it was dismissive and lacked compassion. There are much more professional and caring ways to communicate with a patient who is frightened and not feeling well. The night before, I had spoken with the on-call physician, who advised me to go to the Emergency Department because of my symptoms. Since it was late at night, I told the doctor I would come first thing in the morning unless my condition became worse, in which case I would call an ambulance. I tried several times to explain this, along with my other medical concerns, but I was never given the opportunity. In addition to my chest pain, my legs and feet had become extremely swollen. My physician, Dr. Boykin, had prescribed medication to help reduce the fluid buildup because there was concern that my kidneys might not be functioning properly. The medication was not helping, and that was another important reason I came to the Emergency Department. Unfortunately, I felt as though no one wanted to hear about those concerns. After my EKG was completed and I was told I was not having a heart attack, I became so discouraged by the way I had been treated that I decided to leave without receiving further evaluation. Looking back, I realize that was probably not the best decision, but I simply no longer felt comfortable staying. No patient should ever feel driven to leave an emergency department because they feel dismissed or unwelcome. I also heard a nurse yelling loudly in the background while I was checking in. I do not know what the situation was, but from a patient's perspective, it came across as chaotic and unprofessional. I understand that emergency departments can be extremely busy and stressful. I also understand that staff members deal with difficult situations every day. However, those circumstances should never prevent patients from being treated with dignity, compassion, and respect. I do not know the name of the employee who checked me in. He was a gentleman with gray hair working the registration desk that Sunday morning around 8:30 a.m. I ask that you identify him and address this matter appropriately. Whether that involves coaching, additional customer service training, or another corrective action is your decision. I simply do not want another patient to have the same experience I had. Again, I want to emphasize that this complaint is not about CMC as a whole. My experiences with your physicians, nurses, and office staff have consistently been excellent, which is exactly why this incident was so shocking and disappointing. I would appreciate hearing from someone regarding this matter and learning what steps will be taken to address my concerns. Thank you for taking the time to read my letter and for considering my feedback. Sincerely, Rob H 11-01--64

FRAUDULENT BILLING PRACTICES! Update on this review: CMC hospital is still billing me to this day…read more In fact, now their anesthesiologists has joined the party, and is also billing. PLEASE STOP BILLING ME. GET IT TOGETHER CMC AND FIX YOUR BILLING SYSTEM ONCE AND FOR ALL. I have a balance of 87.10 on my account and now the new anesth. bill. Once again, I have two insurance policies. If any balance remains after the first policy pays, the second policy pays the rest. This is the first time in over 20 years that I have EVER had this problem - only with CMC. Please have a heart, please fix this. My mom is worn out from trying to help me with this. 15 calls now. The supervisor in billing promised to take care of this, yet the stress continues. I would have given this hospital five stars, but because of there billing department they deserve a 1 star rating. I had nasal surgery October of last year and I am not supposed to be billed at all because I am on dual insurance coverage. What one does not pay, the other does. Dr. Darin Sutton was a great doctor but the billing at CMC is awful. My mother has called in 10 times now. Today we spoke with Destin, before that it was Rose, Tammy, Brittany, and a bunch of other staff in billing. We were told many times to call our insurance, although my insurance said that the hospital/office should not be billing or bothering me at all. My mom has spent lots of time trying to get this fixed, but I still show a balance. The last lady my mom spoke with actually said that the bill would go to collections if we don't pay. I have never been billed for a dime from any doctor or health office. My insurance pays for all of my medical needs. This is stressful and neither of us would use CMC again. Another 45 minute call begging for CMC to file the claim, and stop billing us.

It was still very swoklen, but i replied "it was better". I called a week later to say there was a hole in my skin with white stuff. The nurse insisted she knew it was a stitch. I called again there were 2 holes. I had to fight to get an appointment 2 weeks later, they would fit me in. Nurse told me to take the bandaid off my nose. I told her there was no bandaid. Thats my nose! Doctor assured me it was "tissue". He kept saying "I fixed the bones." I went to charleston. They operated on the bridge of my nose and found bone fragments and a staph infection. Sutton is a terrible doctor and his nurse thinks she's an expert on everything. I could have died from a staph infection so close to my brain. Terrible customer service too.

The insurance person (Kylie/Keely) is the most rude and nasty individual at any business I have…read moreever met in my life! And Frankie was unwilling to work with me as well, because, she said, "that's not how we do things here anymore." Apparently, much has changed in a year, sadly. There was a GLITCH with my insurance, not on my end, but on the insurance company end. This happened once before about a year ago here and it all worked out and went through fine at this same office. This time, I had the same problem. I reminded her that this happened before but Kylie/Keely refused to help me after I was passed to her by Frankie (who also told me she would not work with me to sort it out), insisting I pay out of pocket. Not only did I remind her that this happened previously and had the proof to show it all worked out (EOB's), I also had my insurance info available as well as had my insurance company call and verify my info directly with Kylie/Keely and send her proof of current good standing insurance coverage! Kylie/Keely insisted that this was not enough "proof" of insurance, and even with my credit card on file, insurance calling her directly, insurance company directly sending proof of coverage to Kylie/Keely and Frankie, and my willingness to pay out of pocket if need be and providing them with my credit card, she absolutely refused to believe I had coverage and would not work with me whatsoever. WHAT!?!? So Kylie/Keely took my credit card, immediately billed me and refused all info that came directly from my insurance company.... directly from the insurance company!!! I will never ever go here again, nor will my family. My suggestion? Get a new insurance person for the office because Kylie/Keely will most definitely cost you more customers. Firstly, her attitude is incredulous! I have never been treated so poorly. I am NOT a scumbag. I pay my bills and work hard to ensure I have proper insurance and take care of my debts...but Kylie/Keely and Frankie made me feel like I was nothing. I have never been made to feel so terrible in my life by anybody. Frankie should not be employed there either, given her lack of wanting to help patrons and refusing to do anything to work with me for absolutely no reason other than that is not how things are done in your office anymore! You just lost an entire family full of business....a family FULLY insured and who pays any and all copays in full and on time.
