I've been to this place a couple of times before, but it wasn't until I tried their honey ginger oatmilk latte that I felt COMPELLED to write a review. It's magical! When i take a sip, I can't help but close my eyes, and imagine all the ingredients, honey, ginger, oatmilk, and coffee, dancing together in a grassy meadow laughing without a care in the world. All the recent visits have been positive but I'm still going with 4 stars for now because I'm still avoiding the upstairs area after we encountered ants one time. It'll take a while to get over finding ants in my bag as I packed up. The downstairs is great. I can usually find an available table and love their orange blossom latte. WiFi seems to always work. I don't usually preorder but online ordering is available through the Joe Coffee Order Ahead app (and there are sometimes discounts through the app). I'm really glad they hired a new manager (Sara?) several months ago because they seem to now be more involved in the community. Not sure exactly how but I've noticed it. read more

I've tried a couple of their lattes and also some sips of their tea but none of it has been that memorable besides the orange blossom latte, which is a signature drink of theirs. Nothing mind blowing UNTIL... two days ago, I decided to get a seasonal coffee: The honey ginger oat milk latte. And here I am right now, seated with a 16 oz of that very same latte (I rarely get a larger size. I am scared of caffeine and becoming like my dutch bros addict mother. this is an extremely momentous and notable occasion) and getting my mind blown with every sip from their very study but still pleasantly small straws. I'm already so scared of the day that they change out this latte from their menu and I don't have a plan for what I'll do when that happens. Mr. or Mrs. Thomas Hammer if you see this please know that I was planning on either writing no review or a pithy 3 stars UNTIL I got a mouthful of the beautiful smooth flavorful delicate not-too-sweet perfectly iced honey ginger oat latte. It's a top three latte for me honestly from this entire moscow-pullman area and maybe that's not the craziest praise but I'm serious in saying this drink made my entire week. This is a really great building with a lot of character. The Thomas Hammer coffee is a really smooth blend. It was rather hot the day we visited, so I opted for a cold brew with a little bit of cream. It really hit the spot. Looking forward to visiting again during cooler days, so I can try one of their signature espresso drinks. read more

Amazing coffee. The barista was a one man show, making the coffee, working the register, and heating our food on a very busy morning. He did a fantastic job multitasking and the coffee was great. When I am in Pullman. This is my choice for coffee. They have a small specialty selection of coffees and quality coffee. If you like the big chains, this will be better than that. If you are a "craft coffee" fan, you wont be wowed, but you wont be frustrated either. The milk isn't always consistent in temperature but it's never been way off. There are spaces to relax for a bit and even get a little but of work done. Parking is available within a block or two. Is this a "must do" while in Pullman? Only if you have to have the best of the available coffees. read more

You have to respect a coffee shop that thinks of it all. Thomas Hammer Coffee Roasters does just that. They have a great upstairs area with local artwork hanging on the walls, lots of outlets and tables to study or work at and the staff here are incredibly nice. Literally a great experience from when I walked in to when I walked out. The baristas were very friendly and talkative as well and even recommended drinks for me. I don't recall what the drink I got from the barista was, but I know it was delicious! I believe it has cinnamon and honey in it. Thomas Hammer also has a nice little display of merchandise too, be sure to check it out! I loved some of their mugs and other items for sale. All in all, the next time I'm out in Pullman I definitely will stop in if I'm looking for a java fix! read more

By far the best coffee place in Pullman in terms of quality of coffee. Also if you are missing the hipster style of most major cities you will find it here. The space is classic modern coffee shop with antler art and wood tables mixed with midcentury modern chair. The baristas seem to actually know how to grind and pull good shots and the prices are low. There are lots of large tables upstairs for study groups. It's next to a nice public space with a walking bridge and murals. read more

Thomas Hammer Coffee has the best coffee in Pullman and I must say, in all of Eastern Washington. I've been a fan of THC since I was student at EWU in Cheney, not too far from their headquarters in Spokane. When I heard they were bringing in a store to Pullman, I was over the moon! So, the Coffee: I love their House Favorites such as the Fireball (creamy chocolate and orange), El Diablo (spicy mocha) and the Jack Hammer (top fav of chocolate, cinnamon and honey). However, I think I love their fresh roasted coffee beans more - their La Revolucion, Fireball, and Santiago's Blends just to name a few. I am also a huge fan of their 20th Anniversary Blend and the bin 7 roast that comes out for the holidays. PS: if you get a chance to order their delicious coffee online, you can actually choose how the coffee arrives - whole bean, espresso ground, french press ground, or drip ground. Love the options, especially when I want to share this amazing coffee with fam and friends who don't own coffee grinders! The Space: THC did wonders to the corner space on the Plaza in downtown Pullman, right next to the lil bridge that crosses a part of the Palouse River. Modern and sleek, the space is also very comfortable. There's room to relax with friends or to hunker down and get some work/studying done. Food: I have really only had their baked goods - pumpkin bread and an amazing bacon cheddar scone that I have tried to recreate myself. I think I have had a breakfast sandwich before, but I honestly don't remember much. :D I highly recommend anyone who is visiting or even passing through Pullman to stop in, to either pick up a coffee or even come away with just a pound of beans. Near perfect study spot if not for some unfortunate seating. Here's the deets: Thomas Hammer is very well priced. Cheaper than Starbucks and while I usually just get drip with cream, their mochas are phenomenal as well! The atmosphere is perfect. With two levels, ground floor is usually dedicated for chatting while the second story is purely for studying. The wifi is excellent. My only reservation are the plastic chairs which take up most of the space upstairs. Their couches and other seats are fantastic, and if their basic study chairs were up to that standard, Thomas Hammer would be an easy five stars! read more

Such a great place to study or get some work done! The barista was super friendly and even brought my drink out to me once it was done because it was slow. The drinks are amazing and you can even choose which beans the barista roasts for you. My barista, Karla, was absolutely amazing and had some of the best customer service I've seen. I have always had a wonderful experience at Thomas Hammer in Pullman. The baristas are always very friendly and helpful in telling you what they can offer, including to regular patrons such as myself. This place doesn't typically become too busy during the weekday or weekends which makes it a perfect place to study and get work done. The offered seating in both the main and the upstairs portion of the coffee shop are plentiful with easy access to outlets, which can be an issue with all of the other coffee shops in town. The wifi is also the best in town if that is the concern. This has currently become MY favorite coffee shop in town and I recommend it to anyone who wants a calming atmosphere with great drinks and great staff. read more

The service was pretty quick! The environment was quite good, lots of study space upstairs! I'm giving this 3 stars due to the coffee quality. I have had a lot of experience in the coffee industry including working a coffee shop for over two years! I ordered a vanilla latte. The quality of the latte was about a 4/10. The milk was too foamy and not smooth at all. Big bubbles instead of the smooth, frothy foam. The shots pulled for too long and had bitter, burnt taste. It seems that the coffee quality varies quite a bit from employee to employee. I have had a good (probably 7/10) vanilla latte from this place before (different barista than today). But unfortunately, I was displeased with the coffee quality today. read more

Thomas Hammer has one of my favorite all time coffee's. The Jackhammer had chocolate, honey & cinnamon... Today's visit disappointed a bit, the drink needs to be stirred to blend the cinnamon. My drink was not stirred well enough and the straw was dollar store quality and was not "strong " enough to stir/mix my beverage. A bit of a letdown. read more

Used to love getting coffee here every day, but one of the main baristas with dark hair is extremely rude to me every time I come in. She is also rude to me when I bring my friends in to get coffee. I have been a regular there for 4 years, and it's disappointing to still be treated this way since I have supported the business for this long. I like to get coffee and study here. I always get the study cup because I am capable of consuming large amounts of coffee in short periods of time. They always seem to be out of one or both of the drip coffees no matter when I order. It's frustrating to always have to wait until they brew it or settle for something else. read more
