Where do I begin? We had a limited space to install a pool. The first company we contacted was unimpressive - very generalized design plan, and there were hidden costs (e.g., they said the pool equipment would be a separate cost and would not commit to a fixed amount). No thank you - that is a stupid way to conduct business in my opinion! Then we met with Ron from Thomas Pools. Within a matter of minutes of my wife and I talking with him, and hearing his ideas for our pool and spa, we knew that this was the company for us!! He kept enhancing the design, providing meaningful and well-reasoned suggestions most all of which we incorporated into the final project. We especially appreciated his concern for easy access for my wife who had dual hip replacement. The contract was very detailed and specific as to exactly what we were getting and the cost for those features. The pool excavation began about a month after we signed the contract (while we waited for the final set of plans, permit to be issued by Santa Clarita, and the HOA to give its blessing). The baby bobcat began excavation on April 3rd, and the pool was done and filled with water 4 months and one week later (almost exactly what Ron had estimated). It would have been done earlier, but our fence contractor (Art and Iron in Simi Valley - who did a fantastic job as well) was in a motorcycle accident and that delayed his part of the project. Every sub-contractor that took part in this process was very professional, personable, and most importantly - took pride in their work. Ron was here multiple times to oversee what was going on to make sure it was exactly what we wanted. For example, on the day the gunite was poured, he was here three (3) separate times that day just to check on the work! We did make some changes (such as upgrading the tile, adding more pavers and ledger stone, and some additional plumbing and electrical to enhance the final product), so we came in about 20% over our initial contract price, but it was worth it. Everyone we have had over to see the pool with its beautiful lighting, fire bowls, waterfalls, etc has expressed how much they love it!!! Of critical importance, with Ron's design of the stairs, my wife is able to get in and out of the pool with ease!!! If we were going to have another pool installed at another property, absolutely, we would have Ron from Thomas Pools handle the project. My wife and I could not recommend this company - and specifically, Ron Osborn - more highly. read more

Almost 3 years ago we began looking at putting in a pool. One of the bids we got was from Thomas Pools. We put the project on hold, and were finally ready to pull the trigger this summer. We contacted Thomas Pools again and were pleased to see the same salesman/project manager Ronnie who had come out 3 years prior. Since they were competitive with other companies, and local, we gave them the job. They broke ground in June. We were very happy with all the subcontractors. With any large construction project, there were hiccups and setbacks along the way but they always made it right. In one instance I was particularly critical of the spillway tile, and without question it was all re-done to our liking. You'll work with several teams over the course of a few months, I kept notes, because I wanted to Yelp about it (seriously!). There is always potential for delays on a project of this size--materials, equipment, etc--the difference here is Ron will communicate frequently to keep you up to date to set expectations. - Excavation: My yard had little access, requiring the smallest available Bobcat. We hit compacted rock that was unexpected. Ron and the excavator kept me updated on time and effort required to get us to our desired depth. - Rebar: Fast, one day for the entire pool. Kept the worksite clean, super friendly. - Plumbing: Again, like the other teams... wow! Chris and his crew crushed the entire pool/spa layout in a single working day, again working with the limited access to my home. - Gunite: Excellent, super communicative on how to care for the gunite post completion. - Plaster: Got the NPT Stonescapes Mini Aqua Blue, Ron recommended the abalone shells for the added sparkle. Team was professional, courteous. I asked a lot of questions, they answered them.... the Stonescapes is great, absolutely worth the cost. - Startup: Russell at Sunline got the water balanced, plaster dust removed--looking good until it's warm enough to use the pool--the awesome plumbing team returned to get my heater online for use of the spa during the cooler months. I am a professional faux rock water feature builder and a contractor for 30 years and Tom at Thomas pools has been the best contractor I have ever dealt with in the pool industry. I see some people have some complaints but let me tell you that there are some people who will never be happy no matter what and are out to smear you because they can. Nobody really checks out both sides before they get to say (or print) what ever they want. Let's face it construction is a series of problems that someone has to solve. Some people think it's all smooth. Just on the moving of appointments for tech's to come may get moved if they are on a job that runs into a problem and takes extra time. Then the schedule is messed up completely. I am sorry some of you will never get it but most of us contractors work very hard to make you happy and most of the time at a cost to us in some way that will never get paid for or even recognized. I hope you read the 5 star reviews as well and recognize that Thomas pools does a great job but sometimes things happen. Tom reached out to me and after a few tries to fix my plaster issue with less evasive means, we agreed that the only solution is to re-plaster. Tom had his team at my house the next day emptying the pool and chipping. We bought a Bestway 18x9 above ground pool from Thomas Pools. Setting up was a pain and finally when it was done it had a leak. I called Tom and he came out right away with the manufacture rep to asses. They couldn't find the leak but agreed it was leaking. They took it back and I received a refund. We had a fiber optic small light in our pool that no longer worked. We were having our pool resurfaced and didn't have any GOOD options from our pool guy or the resurfacing company for the light to be replaced or redone. I walked into the store front for Thomas Pools and Tom was there and discussed with me the options for redoing our lighting as is and not breaking the bank, and also options to add in additional lighting at reasonable costs since our pool was currently empty for the resurfacing, and easy to work in to install new lighting. Tom helped me through text, phone calls and even sent me pictures to show me options! He was readily available with an employee to talk to or himself if he wasn't at a job. We made our decision, and his employee Danny came over right after work to install our light. It took longer than expected as we hit some bumps, but Danny stayed late, was so friendly and polite, and resolved all of the issues. He did not leave until the job was done.
