Unbelievably, I've never darkened their door, perhaps because of their proximity to the Bent Spoon which is always an ice cream mob scene. The chocolate is fine and obviously of high quality but I'm just not desperately grasping for superlatives. I'd like to say that no visit to Palmer Square is complete unless you indulge your sweet tooth here but I've managed this long with no repercussions. Three stars. read more

Stopped in to try something new and exciting. I got two marshmallow caramel chocolates (one with milk, chocolate, one with dark chocolate) It was absolutely so wonderful! Service was absolutely delightful! Very helpful staff. And I must say that it really was a delight, seeing all the different themes of chocolates. Like they had cat shaped , lip , mustache , squirrel, and even Lady bug shaped chocolates. Quite variety! For grateful to the staff for all they do. The perfect stop for a sweet treat big or small when you are visiting Princeton! If I have somewhere to go after or I am visiting fam/friends, I will get a little box of a few different kinds of goodies. If it's just me, I stop in for a singular chocolate covered blueberry cluster or strawberry. There isn't any seating but they are right in Palmer Square. If it's nice out, take your chocolatey treat and plop in the Square for a snack and a rest. I loveeeee visiting Princeton and have loved Thomas Sweets since living across the street from their New Brunswick loc many moons ago, so this is always a stop. Thomas Sweet Chocolates was a pleasant stop during our Princeton visit. The storefront is very nice and the staff members are friendly and helpful. I am a huge truffle fan and go straight to them. However, I noticed that they have a large variety of chocolate items, in many forms. The truffles that I chose, raspberry and rum, were not only fabulous, but reasonably priced. Took a quick pit stop in Princeton recently with my family. I was looking for interesting dessert ideas and saw Thomas Sweet Chocolates on Yelp. The shop is clean and bright, the woman working behind the counter was pleasant, and the gleaming cases filled with chocolate beckoned. My daughters made selections and I grabbed a few meltaways. My older daughter gave the chocolate covered strawberries a 10 out of 10. My younger daughter enjoyed chocolate covered pretzels and milk and dark chocolate pieces. Thomas' Sweets has by far some of the best chocolates & fudge in the area. The shop is so brightly lit, clean, and the chocolates are presented so beautifully. Staff is always welcoming and helpful. There is such a large variety to choose from but my favorite are the clusters. They offer chocolate boxes, chocolate bars, chocolate moldings, and chocolate covered fruits. Really glad that we came in this store for a treat. It's a cute store with unique and interesting candy and chocolates. We purchased a s'mores chocolate bar with tiny marshmallows and small pieces of graham crackers and a bag of hard candy. The hard candy was really good -full of flavor. The store has a huge selection of chocolate goodies including chocolate shaped in different forms for different occasions as well as some large turkey chocolates for Thanksgiving. I really do like this shop in an abstract way. But the reality lowers the score into 3 star range. I will state 2 major reasons for this. First is the price, this is Princeton and homemade, but almost $10 more a lb than comparable and possibly better shops I've visited. And second, no samples were offered even when we seriously inquired about one of their truffle flavors. If you have a product you are proud of and price it as high as they do, it might be a good idea to provide samples judiciously. I most likely would have purchased some of the aforementioned sweets had one of the employees who was more concerned with an ongoing conversation with another employee, offered just a slice of one. We also wanted to buy just a bite of homemade fudge to compliment a delicious brunch we just finished. We were informed that a quarter lb was the least they could sell. This would have been several servings, and more than we desired at this time. So we bought one piece of almond bark that was mediocre, and spent more on that than we would have for several Lindor truffles across the street. Shoppers may be interested in some of the chocolates shaped into many popular objects, nice gift items to be sure. Okay this was just outright yummy and fun. We went with a group and we all had blended ice cream. I had the sweet cream with cookies. It was delicious and soft and filled with Oreos. I will admit the add ins were unrecognizable once blended (so don't expected a DQ blizzard) but it was still very good. People seem to be dedicated to this place, coming in for ice cream cakes. I've had Thomas Sweet ice cream and chocolate before in their New Brunswick location, but it had been a while, since that was back in college. Now that I work in the area, if i'm craving something sweet, there are so many choices in town that Thomas Sweet becomes more of an after thought. But today, in one of those cravings, I decided to head over and check out their selection. They have a vast selection of chocolate pops in every shape, figure, character imaginable. The place smells of chocolate, and they have a wide range of chocolate confections. I decided on two pecan clusters and two chocolate covered graham crackers. Altogether, the pieces were 3.20- I was expecting that they would be more, but the price was good. All the chocolates were consumed within an hour- soooo good! I'm a skeptic of expensive chocolate shops as hand made does not automatically equal good quality chocolate. However I've come to appreciate that Thomas Sweet chocolate is rather good. The selection is large with everything from soft centres, bars, truffles, fudge, barks, and caramels. The sea salted dark chocolate caramels are amazing. My husband loved his milk chocolate cashew bark. This is a great place to buy yourself a treat or a little dessert chocolate after dinner somewhere in Princeton (i think they are open until at least 9pm maybe later on weekends). Picked up a box of mixed truffles and fudge that I selected myself for a friend's birthday -- and have kept doing it since for other friends! This is a quaint little chocolate shop located in Palmer Square with a wide assortment of chocolate confections including chocolate lollipops (great for kids!), bagged malt balls in a variety of flavors, elegantly pre-boxed chocolates, fudge, toffee, bark, nut clusters, creams, etc. Regarding customer service, I'd been here quite a bit and usually see the same three chocolatiers/sales people behind the counter. Two of the three have chilly dispositions. One is especially surly and ill-tempered. After making a purchase one day I quickly returned after realizing I needed to buy a second gift. The ladies working behind the counter were friendly and helpful, but I had to wait a while. I even had time to walk to my hotel, collect my bag, and return to find that they were *still* waiting on the same customer as when I had left. They were working very hard and efficiently; it's just a matter of not having enough hands during the holiday season. The shop is beautifully designed and I like that most of their candies are made onsite. This is a good place to buy gifts; they package their products with attractive, sophisticated presentation. My issue with Princeton is that most people seem stuck up, but the people working here were a breath of fresh air. I got a lovely smile and a welcome as I walked into the store. Their chocolate covered espresso beans were pretty bad actually. But their chocolates are really cute and their fruit gummies are worth trying. The service is fantastic the Chocolate is decorated so delicately and beautifully the holiday packages and boxes are gorgeous. I have so many favorites but one of them is the chocolate covered berries there so fresh everyday and my other is a salty sweet pretzel with dark chocolate but I will eat all of them there are equally good with new treats coming out almost weekly.
