I made a quick stop into Flemington's newest business Mr. Pops and left very pleased!…read more I went into for a latte and left with some chocolates to add! First, the latte was great! I got a caramel latte which was flavored exactly to my preference! The caramel was not too sweet, didn't taste artificial and the double espresso was roasted perfectly. At the chocolate counter, I order a few different items. Just about all the chocolate is made in house (including the springtime/Easter specials)! The only items not made by in house are the peanut/peanut butter containing items (which are kept in a separate case). These items are sourced from Asher's Chocolate Co. Mr. Pops does this to ensure all of the chocolates made on site are 100% peanut free. The ambiance is quaint. Mr. Pops is decorated to elicit memories of a chocolate shop of old. I spoke with owner Tim who added to the pleasure of the experience. I am excited to return soon to Mr. Pops where I anticipate trying something cooler as the weather warms! In the corner of Mr. Pops I spotted an ice cream case... I hope this is an indication of ice cream and/or gelato coming in the near future. I would love to try an affogato from Mr. Pops! I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Unique place with excellent ice cream flavors…read more There's a variety of old fashioned and new candies, staff is very friendly and you can watch the chocolate being made in the back room. Couch is comfy, but floor plan in the back area is a bit awkward, you go down some hallways to get to bathroom and pass some lonely candy shelves. Chocolate quality is so-so, it lacks a richness and cocoa bite. Ice cream flavors are very interesting and strong. I got the banana cookie ice cream in my affogato and, while I wish there was more ice cream, it was QUITE good. My wife didn't want all the caffeine from hers, so I walked out 320mg of caffeine richer. Would return for ice cream and ambiance.

Major bummer this last takeout order and there won't be future orders. Have they sold the business…read moreagain? Take a look at the lamb saag below. Just a sad light green runny sauce and the lamb was tough. Not spiced although we asked for medium. Rice was short grains and broken not lovely long basmati grains. Was told over the phone it would be a 40min wait which it was but not worth waiting 10min for either. Not pictured was the tastier dish of Ennai a vegetarian eggplant dish. Overall, we are sad that we will be traveling further (Hillsborough or Bridgewater) for decent Indian food if not cooked at home!

Usually the food is amazing but it was a little off this time. The sambar was lacking flavor and the dosa wasn't as crispy as it is normally. The samosa was also tiny. I thought it was bigger when I got them before so it was disappointing. However, the gobi 65 was still tasty so that's good. Another thing I was disappointed on was the lunch menu. Menu says "daily lunch menu", but when I asked about it, I was told it's not available on the weekend. Then I asked about the "weekend special" and I was told it's not available until 12. I was there at 11:30. No where in the menu does it say starts at a specific time. I wish the menu was more detailed or accurate. Service was decent. I told the waiter about the sambar lacking flavor and that I needed some chaat masala so he got me some. Then he came back to check to make sure I was ok with the food, which was nice. Ambiance is a fast food style restaurant. Food and drinks are all served on paper plates/plastic cups/etc. I will come back to try again because I remember the food being very tasty before. Hoping this negative experience was just a one time event.

For this visit, we decided to check out Dolce on Main Street in historic Flemington. The restaurant is in a great spot right in the heart of town. We were seated in their tastefully decorated dining room, which felt upscale but still welcoming. For our appetizers, my wife went with the classic caesar salad, which featured classic dressing and herb-crusted croutons. I tried the pear salad which came with walnuts and gorgonzola cheese in a balsamic vinaigrette. Both were a good start to the meal. For the main course, my wife ordered the flounder francaise. It was prepared in a lemon chardonnay sauce with capers and artichokes, which she really enjoyed. I decided to go with the scallop and shrimp special which was pan seared and served with sliced asparagus risotto in a saffron chardonnay lemon sauce. Everything was cooked perfectly and very fresh. We made sure to save room for dessert. My wife had the carrot cake special which was a triple layer cake with real cream cheese, sliced walnuts and golden raisins served with vanilla gelato. I went with the cheesecake. Both were a solid end to the night. The staff were very friendly and attentive throughout our meal, which we appreciated. It's a BYOB, so keep that in mind if you want to bring a bottle of wine along. However, if you forget, they do have a selection of bottles for sale from Alba Vineyard. We'll definitely be returning in the future to try some of their other traditional Italian favorites.

I ordered the halibut with potato purée on the specials menu. It was perfectly cooked and so flavorful. I also really appreciated how many gluten-free entrée options there were. The crème brûlée for dessert was to-die for. The staff were kind, warm, and genuinely helpful throughout the evening. Overall, such a lovely dining experience. I'll definitely be back!
