Drove down from Wilmington Tuesday afternoon to try the market; the Market was closed. Disappointed not to try some sea food.

Super friendly and helpful! Delicious fresh sea scallops and peeled/deveined shrimp. Great local spot - easy to get to from the island.

Always fresh seafood and local veggies (in season). Reasonable prices and helpful staff that know their stuff. A "go to" in the area.

When you walk in, it doesn't exactly scream "fish market" - as it took me a few minutes to even find the fish. The staff there that day (one person) was friendly, but when asked for suggestions of what was good "everything." The owner of the bar (of the same name) next door came by to hard sell his place. He wasn't wearing a mask, and I tried to interject that I wouldn't be coming by because my kid is too young to eat out around people - but he really didn't catch on. Sigh. I went on to get the shrimp and the red snapper. I paused trying to do the math on how much. The friendly bar owner then insisted I wasn't getting enough for "that many people" - and I should double it. I don't exactly know why I listened to him (I think I was just ready to go) - so I bought what he said. After a rather hefty bill. Getting home, I pulled out the fish and it was 2x what I needed. Sure enough, we had left overs. I don't know if you've ever microwaved left over red snapper - I don't recommend it. So - the interloper from next door brought down the score, but the shrimp was so good I can't imagine going less than 4 stars.

Who would have guessed an oyster shack would be placed conveniently near my mother's house? ... Okay, anyone would have considering we live right on the coast. I'm slow, okay? Looked up Grant's on Yelp and headed straight there. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a very enthusiastic dog... and then another dog! And then an adorable sleeping cat! Apparently there was another cat lurking about, but I never met them. The gentleman working there welcomed me and invited me inside. I asked how buying oysters goes because I had never purchased them fresh before. He directed me to the gentleman running the place who told me the current price for a bushel was $70, half for $40. I gave the woman at the desk my credit card while I chatted them up. They've been in busy since 1939, selling crabs, oysters, grouper, snapper, you name it. People tend to wipe them out daily, so it's best to show up as early as possible. I thanked everyone (including the animals) and drove home with my half-bushel in hand. Thank goodness I had a random cardboard box in my car or else I would have gotten ocean water all in the trunk. And, of course, the oysters were sublime. Salty with a smooth ocean aftertaste. Great raw and steamed, but even better with cocktail sauce and lemon juice on top. Yes, I ate half a bushel by myself in three days. It took a day to clean them all! Don't judge me. Cheers to a year of more oysters!

While it might look well loved from the outside, the fish is fresh, the walk-in cooler billows frosty air when opened, and the owners are nice. Establish on 1939.

WAIT TIME/LINES We got there 1.5 hour till closing (7:30PM) and there was a decent line. We waited in line for about 25 minutes until we got to the registrar to order. Apparently, the staff member informed us the line was wrapped around the shack earlier in the day so I'd say we got lucky with our timing. SERVICE Customer service was excellent. There was a staff member consistently handing out samples of the Clam Chowder and Lobster Bisque while we waited in line. During our dining experience, the staff member came around with various samples of Whoopie Pies. DINING AREA There are a decent amount of picnic style dining tables around the back of the shack. All outdoor seating. I wish there was more shade as the sun was setting and it gets pretty hot with the humidity. FOOD - Maine LobSTAH Roll:I ordered this along with a few others in my party. It comes with your choice of Plugra melted butter, mayo, or both! The mayo was a packet, in case you were wondering. I thought it was a house-made mayo with herbs infused, which would be a great idea for them to add some freshness to the dish. The lobster was the star of the show -- fresh, large chunks, and a plentiful portion. The bun was toasted. It came with a lemon wedge, half a pickle spear, cole slaw, and a bag of Cape Cod potato chips. The cole slaw was tasty -- I appreciate the chopped approach. - Maine Lobstah Bowl: A few family members ordered this. It mainly consisted of lobster, slaw, and lettuce. Delicious. Overall, cute Main LobSTAH Shack with good Maine lobSTAH!
