I went there and it was a long first appointment with them trying really hard to have my start braces. I was not amused. They also charged me for something that they said was covered. I actually tried to make another appointment and they were booked 6 months out but then would continually call and email me to get me to make an appointment. I was fed up and found Southport Dentistry. The initial appointment went smoothly and didn't take forever. Dr. Dang advised me to purchase an electric toothbrush but didn't push me to purchase one at his office which was nice. The star in my opinion was the dental hygienist that did two of my cleanings. She was very thorough, gave me honest advice, and was very approachable. All the staff I have interacted with was very good and nice. I have a strict no texting policy and they would just call and leave a vm for me. Plenty of parking. There are some weekdays where they care closed and they are closed for long stretch of time during the holidays. Overall, even with my harsh work schedule I was able to book appointments.

Behind one of my front teeth. Then some lady with her face and head completely covered with a doily came in, said nothing to me, stuck her finger in my mouth and sloppily filled the hole. Everyone who worked there kept insisting that the sharp edges she left from her sloppy job would smooth out but months and months went by and that never happened - just like I knew it wouldn't and just like they knew wouldn't. Finally I complained to the blonde haired white woman, who happens to be nice and normal like the rest of us (who were born here and have respect for the lands and each other and not just 'their own kind) who cleans teeth took a look and could see and feel what the imports "couldn't." She told the "Dr" about it. Next time I went in to get my teeth cleaned - I was switched to a new cleaner - who just so happened to also be an import. She poked and scraped the s*** out of my gums, creating new problems including gum reduction. That oughtta shut me up, ha? 'Be quiet and passive you s**** A*****.' At the time all this was happening - I was still recovering from years of mourning from years of continued losses including my father in law, grandfather, sister in law, pets, etc. Getting other back teeth chipped off by this guy who claimed those things never happened or that they just so happened to happen while he was back there doing work next to other teeth near those. All this happening while I was in one of the most vulnerable states of my life was really f***** up. Going to the Dentist was actually me trying to take care of myself and be optimistic in a post-pland****-co*** world where many people prior to, during after after I knew had passed away, among other things. But - I'm better now. So I'm writing this because - when I complained about the f***** up filling the sloppy, rude a** towel h*** left - he finally took it out. He kept trying to get me get braces and teeth whitening and implants but all I wanted was my f***** tooth he f***** up filled correctly. So I went in, got it filled and two days later while I was at home minding my own f****** business - that s*** suddenly came out. So I called them, went back in and this guy tells me and my partner - he's not going to fix it because it would just happened again. I had no issue with this tooth until I went to this place, to this guy and that team. Now he was saying - I won't fix it - you need to now get all of your teeth crowned - but get braces first - so that after your teeth - one of which I won't fix - get straightened out - we can then cover them up. Guess he thought I was some Mexican silly f****t rolling in money, pulling the purse strings or something. It's been about a year and a half and there's still a hole in my tooth that I got when I was in an extremely vulnerable place that they took advantage of - but I'm better now. Today I had to go through the parking lot of that place to avoid the traffic from that restaurant next door that s*****ly replaced the lawn with rocks so they can be an upscale fish bowl, and came across the secretaries and assistants that work there. They all started saying hi like they didn't know what happened. I said nothing but that seems to have led them to believe they should say it with bigger, more "confident" smiles and louder - so I said - I still have a hole in my tooth. The girl from the front desk who tells everyone what to do just started laughing. So. I decided to write these truthful events. This is for you, girl.

State of the heart machines. Amazing care. Top notch practitioners across the board. Also worth noting that I have never had a dentist as good as her with the numbing process; it has always been a pain-free experience so worth it for those nervous about dentists. Her assistants are all excellent and very knowledgeable (shoutout to Arash). I found Dr Castro after 2 well-rated dentists recommended an extraction saying I had a "cracked root" which just didn't sound right (couldn't show it on an x-ray and the tooth next to it had been worked on recently in NY). As costly and overkill as it sounds, I'm glad I went for a 3rd opinion with Dr Castro. Her X-ray and ability to read it were just better and she found a tiny piece of metal from a previous procedure that had gotten infected. Just a quick incision and antibiotics. Ultimately much cheaper than a tooth extraction and showing she wasn't trying to oversell (I would have gone the extraction route at this point). Fast forward a year and I got into a traumatic crash that resulted in extensive jaw and teeth damage requiring complex procedures over the following 5+ years. I have spent a LOT of time in that chair! She has guided me through everything with empathy and professionalism. Results have been amazing, especially when you know the starting point. She never tries to "upsell" and is also very honest with what she can and cannot do and referred me to an (excellent) periodontist when she needed to. Highly recommend if you need an excellent dentist. I also get my cleanings here and all the hygienists have been very good and professional.

I have been through several dentists in the Sacramento area that either tried to upsell or recommend unnecessary procedures. I take very good care of my teeth and pride myself on not needing extensive dental work. Trust for me is the biggest component, and if I do not feel comfortable in a dental office, I will happily leave and find a new dentist. With my most recent dentist selling his practice to a big corporation and moving out of state, I was devastated to have to start the search all over again. Luckily, my dental hygienist from my previous dental practice decided to leave and came to smile art dental. I decided to follow her and so far have been pleased with the professionalism and the care I have received here. I just come in for my bi-yearly routine cleanings and check-ups and so far have been made to feel listened to and respected. My husband, who is quite fearful of the dentist, was even willing to come to smile art dental himself, and give it a shot. This was a huge step forward for him, and I think it speaks volumes to the professionalism and quality of care that they provide. We hope to be lifelong and loyal patients of smile art dental.
