I was referred to his office from the VA healthcare system for therapy on my degenerative back condition and lower lumbar back pain. As a Veteran I sustained various injuries in the Navy and Dr. Wong provides the necessary acute outpatient therapy for my back, knees, feet (plantar fasciitis), as well as my recurring arthritis and sore ligaments in my hand, wrists, and arms. He is a superb chiropractor! I have a herniated disc, and used to have a severe nerve pain down my shins and I could tell my waist wasn't leveled, and my back had lost a curve. Dr. Wong has been treating me for a year and a half, and most of my nerve pains are gone (returns time to time but not as bad), my back regained some curve, and waist is leveled. Dr. Wong is a gem, a one-of-a-kind, truly passionate about his work. I had frozen shoulders on both sides years ago and never fully recovered. During my visit with family in LA (I live in SF), my brother noticed that I was fussing with my shoulders. He called Dr. Wong who did wonders for his back issues, and he squeezed me in the very next day (Torrance location). He was so thorough with his assessment, and he not only performs the "chiropractic" adjustments, he also treats the area with gentle massage that ends with a deep tissue massage (50 minutes total); he is educated in Eastern medicine, so maybe it was accupressure? I didn't even ask, I was just amazed that a chiropractor was actually giving me a real massage and manipulated my arms/shoulders to loosen them up. It ended with a warm ultra sound to help with the inflammation. I was shocked when I checked out to find that his services are also very affordable (SF is ridiculously expensive). Dr. Wong is the best chiropractor I have ever been treated by. I was recommended to him by a coworker and am so happy I made that first appointment. My experience in the past with chiropractic was mostly as follows: You go in, they adjust you in a few different ways, and have you make another appointment very soon, the whole interaction lasting no more than 10 minutes. Dr. Wong is different in that he really talks to you, asking questions about the injury to try and find the to cause of the problem. He is also more than willing to answer any questions about physical health, bodily mechanics and any injury you may have. He also has a wealth of knowledge about the body, beyond the back and neck, as most chiropractic therapy is focused on. I initially saw Dr. Wong about a snowboarding injury I had in my wrist. I at first thought it was broken, but after seeing an orthopedic surgeon and having x-rays, it was diagnosed as a sprain. But the problem was that the pain was simply not going away, and was affecting me at work and in my everyday life. Dr. Wong used a wide array of treatments including ultrasound therapy, soft tissue massage, and adjusting the bones in my hand. After three visits I began to see an immense difference and after 3 weeks I was pain free. I also had pain in my hip that was causing lower back pain. Dr. Wong, using a combination of chiropractic adjustments alongside deep tissue massage was able to heal this injury as well. He also provided me with a regimen of stretches I could perform at home to further heal my injuries. Dr. Wong really cares, he is extremely friendly, approachable and easy to talk to. For the past few months I had this lower back pains due to long hours of sitting down in the office, also constant headaches due to my shoulders and neck tensions. So my Sis in law referred to me Dr. Wong since she is a testimony herself that her back pains were relieved after a few visits to Dr. Wong. Dr. Wong is the best! I recently struggled with a running injury that caused significant pain in my lower back, hip flexor, and glute. After several weeks of walking with a limp and losing sleep from the pain, I started treatment with Dr. Wong. The treatment began with a myofascial release massage - basically a deep tissue massage targeted to specific areas of your body. While the massage can be a bit painful/uncomfortable at times, I could actually feel that many of my knots had disappeared by the end of it. I was also surprised that Dr. Wong could treat areas like the hip flexor and glute. The massage was followed by a typical chiropractic adjustment, then an ultrasound therapy, and ended with a 20 minute electrical nerve stimulation on the TENS machine. I returned for the same treatment about once a week. After only 2 weeks, my pain was significantly reduced and my limp was gone. After about 6 weeks my pain disappeared completely! Now I return about once every other week for maintenance treatments. I love how Dr. Wong gives you realistic recommendations on how often you should seek treatment. I hate it when some businesses try to guilt you into buying expensive and unnecessary packages - there is none of that here. I came to see Dr.Wong 3 months after having my baby and the treatment has been life changing. Ever since the pregnancy and birth I kept suffering from pelvic dysfunction to the point where it would hurt to stand at the end of the day. It was impossible to fall asleep at night because no sleeping position would cause no pain. My primary doctor advised me not to walk, which actually made it worse. If you're a weightlifter you know how important the overhead position is. I'd been having a shoulder problem that did not allow me to do the overhead position properly for a year, but that had stopped until I went to Dr. Wong!! As a Korean, I have been to many 5 star review chiropractors at Korea town but none have been as effective and innovative as this clinic. Dr. Thomas Wong is the real deal and has a unique method to fix your pain. I had a severe cervical herniation where I could barely move without immense pain. I went to several chiropractors but they could not fix the issue and the pain would come back. Most chiropractors would just crack and your back and set you off after 3 minutes. Here is how Dr. Thomas Wong differs: When you have a skeletal imbalance, the muscle around it becomes very tight. When the muscle is tight, it is difficult to recorrect the bone structure. Thus, Dr. Wong spends a good amount of time to deep massage your tight muscle groups then proceeds to correct your bone structures. His massage technique is one of a kind, as I have been to so many massage therapists beforehand. He also explains what the problem is and how to correct it in detail with you. The costs of each appointment is not expensive and well worth of what he does to you. Dr. Wong has been helping me for over 2 years in treating my chronic lower back pain. Once you walk in, you are greeted with the friendliest staff that I have ever encountered in any establishement. They check you in and take your temperature quickly to ensure efficient servicing. Once Dr. Wong calls you into his office, he immediately starts by asking questions on where the pain is located, what or anything that has happened to cause that pain, and how long it has been in pain for. After answering his questions, he gets straight into the treatment. After the treatment, he taught me how to do many different stretches and preventative measures that I could take to reduce the amount of pain steming from my lower back. The big bonus is that he gives me at home treatment instructions to take home as well. Dr. Wong has a electro therapy room next to his office that you can go into for further treatment. He describes the proceedure as stimulating the muscles after it has been through the treatment to loosen and integrate the muscle back into full form. I was fortunate enough to find Dr. Wong in Torrance area. I was referred by my co-worker who has back pains problem due to working at his desk all days long. Dr. Wong is a very caring person. And he is very knowledgeable. Being a science major, I would love to find the root cause of everything. I asked him so so many questions about body parts, muscle, joints, tissues, sport injuries, work related injuries, etc. etc.... Dr. Wong was able to answer my questions in details, explained where the injury was, how he would provide the treatment, and how the treatment would help. The ultrasound equipment does help quite a bit to relax my muscle. After several sessions of treatment, I don't feel as tired as I used to be after a long working day.
