We have a 2021 Thompson Creek back door in Geneva blue color with a glass insert. Hoping to purchase an OEM screen insert to swap-out seasonally, I submitted an inquiry via the Thompson Creek website's Contact Us page. When I didn't hear back on my inquiry, I called Thompson Creek's sales team. The polite sales representative referred me to the service department and provided the phone number. On July 11th, I called Thompson Creek's service department and had a pleasant conversation with Shannon who provided her email address. While on the call, I sent an email with images of our door and the warranty tag. She confirmed receipt and said that she'd get back to me the following week. She also encouraged me to email her the following week to seek a status update. I followed Shannon's instructions and emailed her on July 18th, excited about purchasing and receiving an OEM screen insert in time for the cooler fall weather. After not hearing back, I sent follow-up emails on: July 28th August 3rd August 9th August 14th Frustrated, on September 16th, I called the Thompson Creek service department and reached Alexis. She too was very polite and easy to interact with. Alexis chatted with Shannon and informed me that Shannon was going to prioritize my request and contact me soon. Fall has arrived and unfortunately, I never heard back from Shannon or any other Thompson Creek employee. Having wasted my time and effort on this pursuit, I ordered a custom-sized screen insert from another manufacturer. Unfortunately, it won't match the color of my door, so I selected a white screen frame to match the trim. Thompson Creek continues to send mailings to our home in an attempt to sell new windows, doors, siding, and roofing products. Having experienced their customer service first hand, I can state unequivocally that we will make no new Thompson Creek purchases.

We probably should have visited Yelp before deciding to use Thompson Creek to upgrade the 42 window panels in our home. Disappointing experience -- especially when factoring in the $60K price tag -- I know, ridiculous. Our windows were installed in December 2025 and I hope to warn other potential consumers that this company has an incredible sales team who will provide solid samples and an incredible pitch - however the installation was done very poorly. It has been six months and we are still waiting for repairs -- one window does not even open. Research before settling on any company and only use a vendor that has been recommended by someone who ACTUALLY received the service. Here are a few photos.

Zero stars. I spent $20K on windows and a door. I have minor warranty issues (2 screens that need repair and one that needs replacing) but they just ignore me. Over the last six weeks I have filled out the online form three times and called them twice. They never respond to the online forms and when I call they tell me they will call me back but they never do. The people they contracted to install the door were shady and rude. I didn't feel comfortable having them in my house. They arrived in a box truck and one of them was riding in the back compartment and had to be let out by the others. Thompson Creek continues to send mailers to my house, but they certainly won't take my calls or emails.

To begin, this company provides a very good window. They represent themselves as providing Superior Selection, Expert Installation, No-Hassle Warranty. Safety and Accessibility, Beautiful By Design, One Day Installation, Easy Maintenance. and Long-Last Materials. Having just had 13 windows installed, I have no reason to refute any of these claims. From my experience their primary focus is on making the sale and not ensuring a high quality customer experience. Pricing transparency? Clear as mud. They gladly apply discounts to reduce the "actual cost" that are pulled out of an I pad. Smoke and mirrors. Even greater savings are available if you "just sign today --- but no pressure". Expect to learn everything about the construction of the window and their "design, build, install" model. Do NOT expect them to share any details about the installation process or provide firm timeframes. How so? We ordered custom windows, and they explained those take longer. Makes sense. The we received an installation date longer than we were told to expect. OK. Friday morning before the installation the following Monday we received a text message confirming our installation would be the following Tuesday, as we had been told weeks earlier. It asked us to confirm, which we did. At 4:58 pm that same Friday I receive a voice mail message : "Because your windows are painted I have been advised by our factory there will be a delay. I am tentatively scheduling a new date of ....17 days later." The windows were always to be painted, and the installation date was already moved back 2 weeks as a result. After our order we learned we'd also need to remove all the blinds beforehand. Makes sense - and we were glad we asked. "But there is no need to remove the brackets to the blinds" was the guidance provided. Whew. On the day of installation, the installers removed all the brackets. Because they had to. Installation day: we did not think to ask how much interior access to our home would be needed. All windows needed to be brought through our house (installers asked for access through the longest route possible, oddly), all old windows removed using that same route. Shabby cloth runners were placed on our floors, which at least somewhat reduced the grime from work boots traveling across our floors all day. Alas, at the end of the day after the drop cloths were removed, an installer had to go back through our home with no floor coverings left to retrieve tools and a drop cloth that were left behind upstairs. Enter new grime in places that had dodged that day's grime. Additionally, about a quarter of our window sills were full of grime left over from the installation. Brackets could not be reinstalled (by us) for 24 hours so the caulk could dry. While none of these many annoyances represent deal breakers, Thompson Creek's "expert technicians" who meet with you to pitch their products make an effort to help prospective customers understand "what to expect". Finally --- after providing a check for my deposit there was likely something in the sales agreement indicating the balance would be electronically swept from that same bank account upon completion. What makes me think that? Because upon completion I asked the installer if I could provide him my credit card information to pay the balance owed. "No the office will be in contact with you." Expecting a call, I instead received an alert from my bank app within the hour that the balance owed was being taken from my checking account --- the same one I paid the deposit from. A nice last surprise from this company. This company provides a good product. Their competitors are few, which they well know. That may explain why their "after the sale" process consistently demonstrated they prioritize making the sale over the total experience of their customers.

We had good experience with Thompson Creek Window several years ago. Recently we are experienced roof leaking, and found out this company also do roof, so decided give it a try. The appointment was yesterday 6:30pm. The sales person showed up early. Due to my husband haven't arrive home, so he said he is going to look around the house and knock on my door after 6:30pm. By the time my husband also came back. My husband explained what we been through recently and what's wrong with our roof. First of all, " we don't do part of repair job, but we can replace the whole roof" he said. I was shocked! We did not expect that type of repair money. Ok! we spent few hours to hear the sales talking about how they will repair the whole roof. Then, finally the numbers came up from his ipad, $35000! My jaw dropped! Then he said, okay! I can do for you and give you 35% discount, so the price down to $24500. Well, my husband told him we need to talk about it and if he can leave an estimate, so we can call him next few days. Then he start acting angry, and said" what can I do to get your business? You give me a number, then I can call my manager and get his permission." My husband explained to him due to long day and it was already 9PM, we both are tired and hungry, we also need to have dinner and think about the number. The sals person did not take No for no. He still keep pushing and wanting us to sign the contract. Who is gonna sign a contract that cost $24500 just for 3 hours sale pitch? The point that salesperson told us once he leaves our house, he is not allow to touch our project! What a horrible company policy! The company also told their sales that once they leave customer's house, no one will call back. Well! If your salesperson acting angry in the end, who is gonna call back?!! If your product is that great, you don't even need to push, also, if you are honest about the quote, you don't need to go through bargain with all your clients. I don't see this company's business will grow if they keep have those pushy sales and ridiculous amount of estimates. I am very disappointed! read more

We recently had a door installed I wish I had read the reviews on TrustPilot before we got the door I had never heard of Trustpilot till I was asked to write a review I think the company should stick with windows . We were not happy with the service The sales people are good and promise you everything but once they have sold you the product it is difficult to get anyone Our problems a) They never got our name right Despite correct it numerous times they spell it however they like Maybe it sounds petty but I think it shows an "uncaring" attitude b) Trying to call them when we had a problem was a nightmare we got cut off several times , and transferred numerous times When we finally talked with someone we were promised they would look into the situation and get back to us We are waiting and we hope she does c) Our alarm system was cut off and when the Alarm company came they said the installer had move the wires to the other side and in order for him to reconnect it he would need to drill a hole and that would probably void our warranty on the door and also not look good Well we had to switch to another system - added expense ! d) Other things relatively minor (maybe not !) the door has a dent the molding has paint chipped and there is white paint along the margins the wall is a pale sage green ! My husband is not happy On the positive side The installer came on time and was pleasant although it was difficult to communicate with them . He did clean up and did not leave a mess. Will I recommend them ? I am not sure I believe they do a good job with windows but as far as doors - I think the jury is out read more

Can someone tell me if I am dreaming. Thompson Creek rep came by to provide an estimate for 2 70"X70" windows. The wall needs to be cut and windows inserted. This is what rocked my world literally. I must have been in a coma and just woke up. He quoted $24000 and stated that this is major construction. Are you kidding me. That's the cost of a house in some places and the cost of a new car. I completed my 1200 square foot basement with a custom kitchen and granite countertops, hardwood floors, to include drywall, electrical and plumbing by certified people and complete bathroom for $33K and installing 2 windows is major construction. These people think that we are uneducated about the industry. Selling point; windows are guaranteed for 50 years, who gives a heck after the first 10 years. 84 Lumber sells the windows for $380 per window and a licensed contractor inserted them for $2000 per window. Now get this, if I signed that day, I would get the discount of the month: $16K total. If the windows were bullet proof maybe I would consider. Hey, I am in the Southern MD area if you need my contractor. read more

I set up an appointment for an estimate on siding for my house. I told the representative that it is very difficult to contact me by phone so if they wanted to verify that I still wanted the appointment ahead of time then they should email me. They never emailed me. They left 5 phone messages during the day when I am at work and unable to receive phone calls. We never connected by phone, which I was assured by the person who made the appointment would not be a problem. Well, here I am sitting and waiting for them to show up. They are 40 minutes late. Guess they don't want my business. Even if they contacted me at this point the answer would be HECK NO! If an appointment is made, you need to show up for it no matter what! If you come out and I am not here, shame on me, but you don't have to wait. You don't show up for a set appointment, shame on you. Stay away from this company. read more

We had four windows installed by Thompson creek. One window was broken in the high winds over a month ago. We sent pictures , called numerous times and the window still isn't fixed. They came out once to install the new one and it was the wrong measurements even though we sent pictures of the window tag. No urgency, no communication. This has been a horrible experience and we will be going with a different window company to install the other four windows we are getting replaced in our home. read more

I have been using Thompson Creek for the past 6 years for many different projects. Not only windows and doors...but siding and gutters for my house. The quality and workmanship of the the product is second to none. The install crews have always done a top notch job. Every part of my experience in dealing with Thompson Creek has been exceptional from start to finish. I would highly recommend them for any project you have that they handle. This is about the most annoying company on my (relatively short) list of annoying companies. Their salespeople constantly come by our house and I tell them (immediately, these days) that I'm not interested. The salespeople will keep talking, about my door, my windows, my gutters (all of which are fine) until I finally have to say, "I'm done talking. Get off my porch," and slam the door in their faces. I guess these aggressive sales tactics must work for them but they have completely turned me off. read more

I have had all of my windows replaced by Thompson Creek and now I have had my front door and storm doors replaced. Everything was seamless, from the initial visit by the sales person, to the project manager (Vince) to the installer (Manuel). I couldn't have asked for a more professional or competent crew. They came when they said they would, set up a shield do that no dust entered the house and did their craftsmanship excellently. I am so happy with my beautiful door! I see a lot of negative reviews here but just wanted to say my experience replacing 38 windows in my home was great . TC started out at a high price quote but we were able to negotiate and shopped a variety of different windows and installers. At the end they were VERY price competitive , One window arrived broken, and they returned the very next day and replaced it. I found them to be courteous, on time , and very professional. They are a long standing local MD company that I know will be around for a while to support their 20 year warrantee and not "fly by night". All in, I highly recommend Thompson creek and just wanted to say as much given the many mediocre or negative reviews out there ! read more

Right now I am dealing with Thompson Creek and am very unimpressed. At first we thought we would be dealing with a very professional company, but now we aren't so sure. They cannot provide the doors that we selected, so they have changed our contract and come back with a very "suspicious" amended price. I am questioning this new contract with Courtney and waiting for a response. When I called this morning Courtney was still waiting on a project manager to come back. The doors they removed from our contract averaged about 600 dollars a door according to the amended contract, and the other 3 doors remaining are now 8,100. That is 2,700 a door! Two of those are screen doors! The 3 cancelled doors were screen doors, so I am struggling badly to figure this math out. Also because the installation labor of the doors was cut in half I thought for sure I would see a much larger drop from my initial contract of 9,900, but it went down 1,800. Suspicious? I will gladly change this review if the situation was a simple mistake, but it makes you question a business integrity. I am hoping if we have to ask for our deposit back because they can't uphold their end of the contract we don't end up with issues. Really sketchy so far. Spent all day trying to talk to Courtney, but did get an email from her. She is stating that the custom paint we requested has raised the price of all the doors. We were told we could pick any color we wanted for the doors because they were custom made, I just had to let them know the paint code. Since we were having the house painted I let them know this information exactly. I was never told this would be an additional cost with the doors, or that it would change our prices in any way, I figured it was included in the price break down of the original contract. Sherwin Williams paint has raised the prices of the 3 remaining doors how much? It won't even take one can of paint to do an interior door and 2 screen doors! We have requested time and again to see a price break down of each door, the labor, and now the paint and we still haven't seen it. I now would like to see the original contract with the entire order on it with the break down of cost per door, labor, etc. because I am just starting to have a lot of questions regarding what is going on. So I want my original contract broken out into a price/cost analysis and my amended one for comparison purposes. I was told Courtney would get back to me today, it is 5:45 and I am still waiting, called them 3 times today, and heard the same thing each time. Still hoping this company can pull it together. Courtney did call back and said that she is working with a Project Manager to get me a break down of all the costs. I told her that we were not going to approve the amended contract because we were never advised of the paint cost etc. and what can we do to work this through, she would not discuss anything with me and said she would call tomorrow after talking to a project manager. All I want is to get things squared away and get the doors put in at a fair price without feeling like we are being taken advantage of at every turn. They have been so hard to deal with. We would love to get our 3,000 deposit back. I am even willing to pay for the paint they ordered out of the deposit to just get out of our contract with them. We never expected this. We selected them over 2 other companies that had lower estimates because we were impressed by the sales person and the quality of the doors. I guess he did his job well because he sold us doors that they couldn't deliver, sold me things like custom paint that wasn't included, and I am left with this mess. I could just cry. This was a huge amount of money for us to spend, and now we feel like we have been taken advantage of, it really stinks. read more

Ordered a door in May of 21 that was installed in August. Everything seemed fine but the lock was damaged, so I withheld a few hundred dollars from my payment until the product was installed as ordered. They came out to fix the door in September, but couldn't get it right. After several attempts, they ended up installing a different lock than the one I ordered. It looks ok, but doesn't match the rest of the hardware. The project coordinator and I agreed that they would wipe the remaining balance in lieu of providing the lock that matched my hardware. This was in December. Now I get text messages every other day saying to call about an issue with my contract. They assure me everything is ok and not to worry. They tell me they can't remove my number from the auto text list and to ignore them. I asked the manager, Xavier for an email stating my account has a zero balance and I don't need to worry about it. He has said twice he would send one, but I still don't have this email. I have no faith they will rectify my situation. I fear I will still be dealing with this nonsense six months from now. Stay away! read more

I am very disappointed with my experience Thompson Creek Windows. I initially placed an order for a custom steel door and frame, but changed my mind and cancelled the contract. Now, it has been hell trying to get a refund of my $1,500 deposit. The sales representative Francis Yates will not return my phone calls, texts or emails. Every time I call the main Thompson Creek number to inquire about my refund, there is one excuse after another: (1) the refund request is awaiting approval; (2) the Project Coordinator Paul said he believed the refund is in process but promised to look into the matter and email me an update - that never happened; (3) no managers are available for me to speak to because they all left at 4 p.m.; etc. Today, I spoke to a different Project Coordinator (Allison) who told me that the refund request was never initiated by the sales rep, but they are doing it now. I would have to wait yet another 7 to 10 days to receive the refund. This is crazy! I thought Thompson Creek was a reputable company. I never expected to have such a horrible experience. read more

Avoid them! A simple door replacement turned into a waste of time, money and an incompetent installation. I specifically told them from the beginning that I will use my existing deadbolt hardware and the new door they installed the hole was in the wrong location so my hardware didn't work. Also, the door doesn't even close well so now any smart-lock will not work. The threshold they installed is higher than the old one and they installed a typical wall base half-round trim and now it looks ridiculous. I called them and they were no use and a further waste of my time. Their excuse was custom means only the size of the door to match the existing opening. How difficult is it to measure the existing location of my existing hardware and drill the hole where it needs to be? I was planning to use them to install windows for a future addition/renovation. I guess not now! I am not surprised by all the one-star reviews out there. I still get their flyers in the mail saying they did some work for me and soliciting for more work! Must be a f**king Trump-affiliated business. read more

Be aware with their 30 day money back guarantee SCAM!! I went to a home show in Baltimore convention center early of this year, stumbled into their booth (big mistake!!). The sales rep was super nice, talked me out of it to come to my house to give me a free estimate for my two front windows which I complained about the traffic sound. My original windows are double pane in wooden frame, they gave me all the sales pitch about how excellent their metal frame with 16 chambers to block the sound from the outside. I was first hesitated and told them how would I know for sure it would help the sound. Both are double pane, just a different type of frame. They finally convinced me with their no obligation to come into my house to look at my windows. Then more sales pitch at my home, and finally told me they have 30 day money back guarantee that they will solve all the problems, if they can't solve it, they will refund my money. Sound simple right? DEAD WRONG!' The nightmare just began. To make it short: after many times between of our conversation with their coordinator Ralph, he sent me a guy to inspect the installation. He just walked in and talked very loud obnoxious way (probably partial deaf), and he said there's nothing we can do because you live in a busy traffic street. Why couldn't they be honest to tell me before the installation? Two opposite stories!! Finally, the coordinator Ralph called me about their BS reassessment procedures. This is what he said: For our 30 day money guarantee policy, you need to hire a licensed contractor to remove our windows and then we will issue you a refund. WTF! Where are my old windows? I don't need another new windows from another company since now I know it wouldn't help. My old windows double pane wooden frame are just perfectly fine except the sound problem. Do not buy their 30 day money back guarantee SCAM! Btw: I called my AMEX to dispute for the final portion payment, they were very help helpful, kudos to AMEX. I put about 25% down with another credit card that I did not dispute because I thought it would be fair to have them keep it for now until they switch back my old windows. Oh yeah, they also wanted me to write a certified check to pay in full from the amount I disputed with my Amex before they will issue me a refund after hiring my own licensed contractor to remove the windows. Hell no, there's no way they would earn another penny from me ever again! I'm not falling into their another trap! All I wanted is my old windows back, remove the new windows, install my old windows back and then refund me my down payment. They threatened to send me into collection agency, and I will see them in court. I can't be a Mr Nice guy anymore! They simply LIED about their products and policies! I also plan to file a report to BBB agency for their dishonesty, so anyone don't have to go thru the same of my nightmare. Bottom line is I still can hear all the traffic sound as loud as it was before! False advertising claim!! Do not buy into they manufacture their own windows story, there's nothing special about their windows that you can't buy from other stores. The guys installed my windows did mess up things, they didn't clean it up before they left. Read BBB complaint about this company! Update 11/8/13: After speaking a few times with Beth Murphy, Executive Assistant to Rick Wuest, CEO Thompson Creek Window Company. She insisted that they did not try to mislead their customers. I still do not agree with their deceptive 30-day money back guarantee policy. At the end, I agreed to pay part of the remaining balance just to shut them up. Not worth my time to deal with them at all, because they will keep calling & sending letters. Stay away from this company! read more

I would not recommend this company in any way whatsoever for the conscientious buyer. After a missed appointment (their fault, they said they called but I'm sure they did not), we finally entertained one of their sales "professionals". He was unkept and anything but professional; he also thought we were interested in windows, even though I had spoke to their appointment center and mentioned several times that we were only interested in doors. Furthermore, the company wanted $7,000 (after 20% discount) to install a single, vinyl french door. The sales "professional" kept mentioning that $7,000 is the amount I would need to spend to get the "maximum Federal tax credit" on home energy improvements. Hmm, $7,000 for the door and $7,000 for the best tax credit...sounds fishy, right? It was clear that after my wife and I showed obvious concern over this price tag, the sales person offered to negotiate down to the $5,000 - $6,000 range. What this means is that the company arbitrarily sets their price point extremely high and then will work their way down. Even at $5,000 - that is a hefty price tag for a french door, even in Northern Virginia. I believe this company marks their products 2/3x their actual cost and hopes the consumer takes their "sales pitch" hook, line, and sinker. In this kind of business, you would hope, lest not expect, the contractor to offer a price for materials, installation, tax, fees, and so on. Finally, when my wife asked about installing a storm door as well, the salesman said we would have to contact another Thompson Creek salesman because he "doesn't sell the storm doors." Consequently, I do not recommend this company. read more

The worst experience I've had with a contractor in many years. They use high pressure sales tactics. I made them leave my home. When I complained to the sales manager he said they don't do business that way. I told him to look at his Google & Yelp reviews because many people are talking about the high pressure sales techniques that they use are like a used car salesman's style & the company may want to address how they train their sales force. At that he had an attitude & said he took personal offense to my comments because he personally trains them. Well, if the sales manager acts that way then it says a lot about the entire company. I was starting to believe him that it was just my sales person until the manager also got an attitude with me. What happened to the Golden Rule & treating people the way they themselves want to be treated? Don't waste your time with Thompson Creek. read more

Where do I begin??? If I could write a minus review, I would. I ordered windows, doors, gutters and sliding glass door on December 28, 2015 and paid a security deposit on March 31 2016 for one of my investment properties. From the initial meeting, this was completely disclosed that this was an investment home and that I would have to travel to meet the gentleman that would come out to do the install team, as well as during several emails and phone calls, I mentioned that this was an investment home and that I would looking for a good quality product. They get remaining balance financed through Foundation Finance. In the meantime, Thompson Creek, pulled my credit after being approved through Foundation Finance, even though I have 2 emails to my consultant, as well as a voicemail, indicating that he did not have my permission to pull my credit, that I am in the process of purchasing another home and any dings could lower my score.....needless to say, it was pulled anyway, which is illegal since it was not needed for my financing. THEN, I had to do a phone call with Foundation Finance to indicate that the work was complete. So, I do my call and one of the questions that the gentleman asked me, was if all products are in good, working condition and I told him no, that the front steel door is dented and scratched and I felt that if you are spending over $2k for a door, that it should be a quality door, especially being steel and should not scratch or dent. He agreed with me and asked me to reach out to my coordinator, with Thompson Creek, which I did. I called my consultant the next morning and shared with him my concerns over the quality of this door and also sent pictures, so that he could see. In the meantime, I am was receiving threatening emails (several as well as voice mails) stating that if my finance was expire if I did not agree to everything that they were going to take me to collections. I immediately called Foundation Finance and was advised not to agree to this since the product was of poor quality and that they would honor my financing agreement until I was satisfy with my purchase (only to find out that this was not true either and later back out) . In the end Foundation Finance did not hold up their end of the deal either, because they said that they felt that I would be under distress to state that everything was perfect, in order to get financing, although a few days earlier, wanted me not to sign until the work was corrected.....so basically, they too are very dishonest as well. I feel that if you are to spend this type of money on home improvements that it needs to be great quality. I do not want you to make the same mistake that I did on your next home improvement job. Good Luck! read more

Thompson Creek has treated me, as a prospective customer, with a complete lack of respect. I made the mistake of talking to one of their door-to-door sales drones, and now they will not stop calling my cell phone. Because of this, when I do decide to replace my windows, Thompson Creek will not be among those I consider to do the work. read more

To be clear this is not a review of their products because I have no idea how good their stuff is. HOWEVER, like many other reviews I read here my experience with Thompson Creek during the sales process was not positive. A guy stops by selling door to door so I said ok give me a quote. He said someone would call. They did. I talked and we set up an appointment. While still on the phone he said I needed to commit to spending an hour with him when he came by. I said no way we just will not have that much to talk about. Being in sales I know this dance and I don't like it. They will refuse to leave until I say yes. I don't sell that way and I do not like it when others do. There are plenty of big companies that do a great job of selling and a horrible job with installation delivery or service. Usually they are more expensive too. Anyway I just said no thanks. then the guy got his manager on the phone as if HE was going to get a different response. I found that insulting. Sure enough one week later another call center lackey from TC called me about setting up an appointment. He didn't even know what had happened before. My opinion, stay far away. There are plenty of local craftsmen/women who can do a better job for less hassle I am sure. read more

If you think Verizon has bad customer service, have no fear! Thompson Creek and their crew of inept project managers is here to help! So let's see how many ways they've messed up. 1- Salesman forgot to include many things so they needed someone to come out as the price should increase a few THOUSAND dollars. 2- Uh oh, salesman didn't realize he mixed the quality of products. The price should only increase $7,000 this time. 3- They decided to eat the $10,000 (so how much profit is in the game for them?!?) Ok ok, whatever, at least we're scheduled for install. Ahhh, crap, they couldn't find the product they were to install. It's ok, we have a 8-10 am window for them to arrive but my wife called at 9:45 to be told "Sorry, we forgot to make it! We'll be back in a few weeks." 4- Sorry, we didn't have time to get one window made. The others were installed. 5- A window won't close. Locks are scratched. They make horrible noises. And on and on. They also left a hoodie here. 6- They return to get their hoodie...just as soon as we got all three kids down for naps. Perfect timing for the dog to wake them all up since they didn't tell us they're coming over. 7- Last window here and the bay window is ready as well! Oh no, they forgot to bring over the siding. Womp womp. 8- Guy comes to check it all out and finally get everything in order to be done. Whoops, he goes on vacation before ordering the stuff we needed. 9- He's back! It's ordered! We're nearly done! They come out but oops...they brought two pieces of siding instead of two cases. Why? They did order two but the supplier called them to verify but Thompson Creek decided not to call them back. 10- Ok ok, my insane amount of complaints have been run all the way up the chain. This time, for sure, 8-10 am and they'll be done!!! 9:10 am...Sorry, it's raining out so we can't come. IT'S BEEN RAINING FOR TWO DAYS. WHY DID YOU ONLY CALL NOW? Look, just send out the crew to do the inside work since we planned to be home and they can come do the outside whenever, then we don't need to be home. "No. We have no one available as we're too busy". Busy??? They were supposed to come here! read more

I think I can explain the negative reviews, even from people who have not actually purchased any windows from Thompson Creek. I have never before experienced such a pushy and obnoxious company! A Thompson Creek salesman came to our door a few weeks ago claiming he was "doing work in our neighborhood" and offering a free estimate for replacement windows. My husband agreed to set up an appointment for an estimate, but when the salesman said we'd both have to be there and that the appointment would last at least 2 hours, he changed his mind. He called Thompson Creek two days before the scheduled appointment to cancel. But that was just the beginning. Since then, we have been bombarded with phone calls from this company -- sometimes as many as 10 calls a day. The calls come in the early morning, at mealtimes, and late in the evening. We do not answer any of the calls, but that doesn't stop Thompson Creek from calling. Additionally, we're also being bombarded with pop-up ads and targeted ads whenever we're on the Internet (they show up on Facebook, on Google, on any website we're visiting). Yesterday, my husband did answer one of the Thompson Creek calls, hoping we could get the company to stop. But when he asked the caller to remove us from their list, he was told, "I don't have the authority to do that." When he asked to speak to someone who DID have the authority, the caller hung up. And the calls have not stopped. As far as I know Thompson Creek is a respectable replacement window company, and their product may be excellent. But I would NEVER do business with a company that is as pushy and obnoxious as this one is. If we ever do decide to replace the windows in our home, we will definitely NOT use Thompson Creek. read more

***Project manager too big for his britches!!! A Thompson Creek salesman came to my door the other day. He was friendly and not too pushy, so I thought, what the heck give me a quote on capping the wood on my home. He said that's fine but "both you and your wife must be home during the 'quote process'." I found it odd that I had some kind of demand for a 2 person audience in order to get a quote, nonetheless, I agreed anyway. 48 Hours before my quote appointment, a dispatcher called to confirm. Up until this point, everything was fine. Then, the dispatcher started asking a lot of questions which made me realize he was also a greedy/pushy/weasel project manager as well. "How much wood is there to cap?" he asked. I told him, "Its a five bedroom single family with wood around the garage, up at the eves and all around the roof, and on all corners except for where there's brick." "...and what about the windows?" At this point I was getting annoyed because an appointment confirmation phone call should not take this long and was he really trying to do an estimate over the phone? So I said "look man, do you want me to send you pictures?" "That would be great" "Well its not happening. Your guy can take all the pics he wants when he comes here on Sunday to give me a quote." "OK, but I was just trying TO SEE IF IT WAS WORTH OUR TIME OR NOT TO COME OUT THERE." So what he really said was 'I can send someone out to waste your time knocking on doors and setting you up for a quote, but you can't waste our time if we don't think we can squeeze you for every cent you have.' I called back 30 seconds after the phone call to cancel. The way I see it, if you have that much business to be picking and choosing, as well as giving me orders before your foot is even in the door, you don't respect your clients or their time. And if you so obviously do not respect your clients, how is your client supposed to believe you would take any pride in your work/ respect his or her property enough to do a quality job? read more

We hired Thompson Creek to install a new front door. The company wasted four days of our time by not showing up when they said they would. Their work was shoddy at best. The crew showed up without the tools necessary to do the job requiring us to loan them tools and drive them to Home Depot. A mess was left on our lawn. Over six conversations with their so called "quality control" group (i.e. Alan) ended up with him not being able to recall the conversations or his repeatedly lying to us. The only part of the company that seemed to be able to find our file was the finance group looking for payment even though we stated multiple times we were unhappy with the work done. That did not prevent them (thank you Brent) from forwarding our paper work to creditors who hounded us even though the job was not completed. Repeated phone calls to the company were not returned. Requests to speak to the manager were repeatedly denied. I have to say that Thompson Creek, thanks to George, did eventually fix what needed to be fixed on their original shoddy work, but it took countless calls to them and more missed appointments to get things done to our satisfaction. All in all this was the worst contractor experience we have ever had. We can never recommend this company to anyone. 8/2011: To follow up my previous review I'm dropping the rating from two stars to one. We recently had our kitchen renovated. The county inspector came to inspect our kitchen which passed. On his way out he noted the door, which Thompson Creek installed, did not meet Fairfax County code. 9/7/2012: Thompson, a year and half later, posted to Yelp that we should reach out to them. Pretty disingenuous. Shouldn't they have reached out to us a year and a half ago. A piss poor company. read more

A big thumbs down for their horrendous high pressure sales pitch! They came to our house and spend about 2 hours talking and talking and trying to pressure us into buying their windows. We had already gotten two other quotes and researched the value of the different types of windows. The guy was nice and not rude but annoying in that he was talking fast and kept with what appeared to be a scripted spiel. I have to say the price was in our budget and we were already leaning towards their windows. Have had the windows for about 3 years and they are stars! We had one problem with a window in our bathroom, they were out when we were available and did an excellent job for such a minor repair, the weather stripping was to tight so I broke the handle that opens the window (the awning type window)....easy and simple and he told gave us tips on how to "break in" that type of window. Because it is an awning window the stripping is tighter so opening it repeatedly a few times a week in the first few months will get the proper seal on the window so it won't be so tight. Have not had a problem since! Except I used to get calls once a month about "deals" Thompson has....annoying I told them to quit calling me and after about 6 months they did, well at least now they only call once a year!!!! So do you research and be ready for high pressure sales pitch and make up your mind about which way you are leaning before calling them and having them come out, it makes life a lot easier... read more

We ordered 10 replacement windows from Thompson Creek. Their product is impressive, however that is where it ends. The windows come with full screens, we decided we only wanted half screens. After calling our sale person on her cell phone, leaving several messages we received no response. I called the company, after hearing " all their associates are busy helping other customers " greeting, the phone prompt said the leave a message and number if you wished them to call me back. Well, when the option is pressed a message said that option is unavailable. WOW. After leaving several messages with anyone's voice mail, and stating we wished the changes and if we did not get a response we would be cancelling the contract. We finally got a call back and the issue was settled. We got the standard excuses for not returning our calls. Fast forward to today, my wife expressed the desire to replace the remaining windows in the house. I called the salesperson on her cell phone, and said we wanted to get a price on another 6 windows, still no response. Also today received a call from their office advising that there would be a 2 week delay in the installation, provided a date and they left a number to call them back. As you can guess I called the number and got the greeting " all of our associates are busy helping other customers and your call is important to us " gave you the option of holding on or leave a message and as soon as a associate is available they will call back. You guessed it, you enter the prompt and you are greeted saying that option is unavailable. I have never seen it so hard to spend your hard earned money. They have a deposit and the remainder is to be paid upon completion. If I am unable to get a return call from anyone, beginning to wonder if this company is for me. Not impressed with the lack of customer service. Stay tuned. read more

Horrible HORRIBLE customer service. I would give zero stars if I could. First of all, they never showed up to our home during the appointment date. Two hours after they were supposed to show up, we called them and told them we were canceling. My father took off work to wait for them to come to the house and they never showed up. Days later, we didn't even get a phone call from anyone apologizing for missing the appointment and for the horrible experience. Don't ever call this company if you need something done in a quick and efficient manner. Very unprofessional workers and customer service they have. read more

Yet another TC door-to-door rep came by. This is tiresome. She was unaware of previous TC visits. So I asked her if she could make a note that we're not interested so that the NEXT TC door-to-door rep could skip us an proceed to their next sale more quickly. As I understood her reply, she hasn't been given the tools to do that. These door-to-door people, as annoying as they are, surely deserve to know when a given territory was last picked over so that they can move on to other areas...? It'd be an upstanding thing to do, TC. read more

We had a few windows replaced. The installation went fine until we realized that one of the windows does not lock properly. A technician came out in January and said the window itself is defective. Told me the earliest they could get a new one installed was March. March comes, no one contacts me to schedule a specific date and time, I call them, and then we schedule something for later in the month. I had to go out of town unexpectedly and needed to reschedule, but after two months later of waiting for a "project coordinator" to contact me to schedule a date, I receive no call. I just called them and they say that July is the earliest someone can come out to install the window. I'm only 30% confident that someone actually will come out. While the product itself is alright, I have to say that the number of people you have to get connected to in order to speak to someone who will then say they will call you back (and never do) is ridiculous. Poor customer service. read more

My experience with Thompson Creek was top-notch, from meeting with the sales rep to the final quality control inspector after installation. They were always very patient with my questions and never seemed in a rush to focus on the next customer. My project manager (Antwanique) was amazing and always made sure I was satisfied and understood what was taking place at each step of the process. In all, I had five large windows and one entry door installed in my condo and I could not be happier! I highly recommend Thompson Creek! read more

We recently bought a house and noticed when cleaning the outside of the large! picture windows in the lounge and living room that water was seeping in between the glass panes. We have been making small regular eco updates to the house, so I wanted a low E argon filled window. TC fit the bill. We asked for an estimate on their website, and were called back and told that a salesman had to come out to determine the estimate and close the deal. I hate talking on the phone, and more to live people, so this irritated me. I had, thanks to my husband's abundant patience with me and my grumbling, a good experience on this sales call, though. He came out, on time, and with all his materials. I like the Local aspect, and that they would work from the outside of my house, keeping the dust down. We bought 2 large! picture windows and two small regular windows that open. The guys came out, tested for lead, and then sealed off the areas of the house they would be working in. Within a few hours the windows had been removed, the frame insulated, and the new windows installed. The exterior caps for the window frame are nice and well caulked. We did have residual paint dust left after the job was over and some of the paint on the trim on the inside cracked. Both easily repaired. I am thrilled with the windows, largely because they are the interior temperature of the house when touched, not the outside temperature! They are easy to operate and clean looking and easy to keep clean. I spent almost 4K on the 4 windows, but they are marvelous. I'm thinking of calling to get a garden window installed in the kitchen as well as a new window in the bathroom! read more

We're the Mid-Atlantic's premier replacement windows company, and we want to put our decades of expertise to work for you
History
Established in 1980.
In 1980, Thompson Creek began manufacturing energy efficient windows on West Street in Annapolis. At that time, we only sold our windows to contractors that then sold them to consumers. In 1997, our original building was demolished as part of the West St revitalization project, so we moved the company from West Street to a 20,000 sq ft facility on Thompson Creek Road. Our growth and new location also provided us a new business perspective. In 2001, we revamped our strategy to sell windows directly to customers, eliminating the middleman and allowing us to control the full window-buying experience for the customer. We quickly outgrew our facility on Thompson Creek Rd and in 2007 moved into an 80,000 sq ft facility in Landover. In 2016, we built a brand new 117,000 sq ft manufacturing and warehouse facility in Upper Marlboro, MD so we could expand our service area. In December 2017, we moved into our new headquarters in Lanham which houses our Executive Team, Marketing Team and Support.
Meet the Business Owner: Rick W.
When Rick was 13 years old, his parents moved their family to MD to start a window manufacturing business. They invested everything they had in the company, and actually lived above the window factory in the early days. Rick started his career path with a broom in his hand and learned the business from the ground up. In 2002, Rick became majority owner and president of Thompson Creek Window Company. Since that time, the Company has enjoyed double-digit growth annually. With a disciplined business focus (manufacturing and installing replacement windows into owner-occupied homes), a commitment to total customer satisfaction, and the understanding that happy, motivated and well-trained employees are the key to success, Rick has led Thompson Creek to continues to thrive in challenging economic times. Rick leveraged his manufacturing and home improvement experience to create a company which focuses on the interior of the home. Rick lives in Annapolis with his wife Vicki.

When you purchase a premium product at a premium price, it's only fair to expect a premium result. Our project (whole house windows and siding) started off looking as if it was going to be a home run but we've had problem after problem since. In respect to the windows, let me say first that the install crew was great. Time will truly tell the quality of work, but they showed up on time and worked 2 full days in order to complete the project on time. They were all friendly and professional. As far as the actual windows go, one showed up incorrect (wrong size), 2 showed up with the wrong sashes, 2 with bent handle, and 4 had flaws in the glass. That's a lack of QC. The PM never showed up during the window install or after to inspect. We have slowly discovered the issues ourselves and being told the missing window and other issues will be resolved in 2 weeks. One month after the original install. That install was canceled so all of our issues still exist with no resolution in sight. In respect to the siding, the project has been a mess from the start. We stressed our desire to eliminate as many seams as possible thus we chose our siding based off color and length. We even chose the width because it came in the longest available length. Even though we spoke with TC multiple times about this, and stressed the importance of the length, they ordered the wrong size? The PM should have verified proper materials before allowing the workers to start striping the house, but since he didn't, this was not discovered until after the install had started. They got about 1/2 day into the install before also discovering the siding and insulation did not properly fit together, so the entire project had to be put on hold half way through the first day. TC has been slow to correct the issues. In the meantime, our house has been left 66% striped of siding. Predictably as a result, during a recent rain storm, we had rain come into the house. Now we have damage inside the house. We were told the correct materials will be onsite in two weeks (3 weeks after the original install date), but the first available install time was 5 weeks later (9 weeks after the original install date). They did end up finding a date sooner after a lot of pressure from us, but alas, the install crew did not show up and they have no clue as to why. So, in the meantime we have a half stripped house that will continue to leak every time it rains and our neighbor has had their siding replaced in the time we've been waiting to have our corrected. We still have no timeline for the window corrections or the siding. So we continue to wait while we get a bunch of excuses and apologies but no results. We thought going with a local company who makes and installs their own products would make for a smoother experience...we thought wrong. Every project has issues, it's the response that counts, and so far Thompson Creek's response has been mediocre, AT BEST. read more

Whoever bought from Thompson Creek, I'm sorry to say this but you guys probably got screwed! Because of our high electric bill this past winter, we decided to have siding, gutters, and windows replaced. The first company that we thought of was Thompson Creek because they advertise EVERYWHERE. So we went ahead and scheduled them to come out and give us a free estimate. So after arriving 20 minutes late, we took the salesman on a tour of our 1500 square feet home (no basement). Once he finished walking around, he started to give us the whole story about how they're the best and how they are the only ones that offer a life time warranty, and blah blah blah. So after about 1.5 hours of talking about himself and his company, he asked us if we had any questions and I quickly responded, how much. He then started calculating the number of squares our siding is and then told us it was 28 squares (which equals 2800 sqft). Then he went on with his calculations and quoted us about $7,700 for our 7 total windows in our house. Being that this was our first estimate we got, we had guestimated that the windows would be about $5 to 6,000, so it was just a bit higher then expected. Then he gave a grand total for all the work and it was about $38,000 + 700 for new gutters. This Price INCLUDED their 30% OFF sale! This BLEW US AWAY. After seeing that total, we knew we couldn't afford to get this job and just wanted to say our thanks and goodbye, but he kept trying to bargain with us. He then wanted to double check his calculation on the siding total squares and said he calculated it correctly and that he was willing to drop the price to $33,000 if we signed that day. I felt like I was dragging him out of the house, he just wouldn't leave, even though we had guest arriving. So after he finally left, we were pretty sadden that this was beyond our expectations of the cost of the job for our small single family house. But since we already scheduled other companies to come, we decide to hope that Thompson Creek was just way over priced. So we had about 5 more companies come by and it turns out, that our siding size total was only 20-21 squares, when thompson creek said it was 28. The cost of each square installed from thompson creek was over $1,200, so he was trying to scam us out of almost $9,000. Anyways, everyone else had the life time all inclusive warranty as well and quoted us from $13,000-$19,000, including new gutters. I don't think this is funny how these criminals do business, trying to cheat their customers. All the companies honored their prices, even after they have have their detail measurer comes out, so there wasn't any funny business with these other companies. Anyways, F U Thompson Creek for trying to scam me. I hope you guys get what's coming to you. read more

I wanted to take a moment to recommend Thompson Creek Window Company and thank them for such a wonderful job they did with the total window replacement of our home. It did not stop there. We also had them install new gutters with their leaf blocking system as well as the entire front siding replaced. They matched the color and style exactly to the existing and the finish trim work made it look like the home was just built. When I made the decision to sell my home, the first thing noticed was the overall curb appeal to a potential buyer. To say the least, we looked like the odd house out, on the block. After putting together a list of things that would need to be done before we could sell and get the most money( in a very hard real estate market), I began to call builders from the phone book and got the run around. They all wanted the work but were going to sub contract everything to other vendors and not be directly involved with the project at all times. This led me to research each job alone and that is where i found Thompson Creek Window Company. By starting with the windows, i learned that they also did the gutters and siding all in house. So I called and made an appointment with Thompson Creek for the next weekend to come out and survey my home. We determined the scope of work, settled on a window package that made sense, chose the gutter system and matched the siding. I was skeptical of the cost as i had already been given pricing from several of those builders, until the salesman came back. After adding everything together, Thompson Creek was able to save me over 17% which was great news considering we were immediately selling the home upon completion. They came to the house for one final measurement and within two weeks, after custom building my windows in their factory, had come back and performed all of the work. One of the better things about this company is their need for a continuously clean job site. Everything was always as if they were never there at the end of each day. I do not often write reviews for companies i have had work done by, but felt that this was justified. This is a very difficult time to sell a home, and I believe that because of the fantastic work Thompson Creek did, as well as the ability to offer the windows guaranteed to the buyer, I was able to get a contract in 12 days, 12 DAYS!!!. We have since settled on the sale in a total of 72 days from when Thompson creek finished the work and I put up the sign. THANK YOU Thompson Creek Window Company for an absolutely wonderful experience and i look forward to working with them again in the near future. read more

Don't get me wrong, they are expensive but worth every penny for the quality and warranty. I got a great deal because it was during their annual sale. These doors are AMAZING. You can't feel any air coming through anywhere, not even from the storm doors and hardly at all around the doggie door flap. The doors create a vacuum seal making sure no air is getting in or out. The installers painstakingly paint the trim to match the door color choices as well. It's just top notch. The whole story... After three weeks going through the process with a local hardware store competitor, I thought I'd just give a ring over to a door specialist. My house was built in the 1920s and has random, non-standard sizes so the fact that all their doors are custom made was a plus. In any case, I put in a request online at 9:30am on a Friday and received a call in less than 10 minutes to discuss my request. The gentleman (whose I name I can't remember, but I know he's a "III" and went to an HBCU because we had a fun conversation in addition to taking care of business) was ready to answer my questions. They were able to make an appointment to come out that afternoon at 2:30 pm. Carl, our salesman arrived promptly at the scheduled time. He was personable and walked us through all of our options, showed us what a difference their product makes and let us feel samples. Then he let us take our time making choices. We wanted a custom door knocker and there were several conversations that our salesman Carl, our project manager Victoria, and our quality control measurer had with us and the team back at the office about this issue. It wasn't entirely clear that this custom piece could be added without voiding part of our warranty so we decided to go the safe route. Installation of our two screen doors (including a doggie door) and front and back doors took probably 10 hours; longer than anticipated as we were told 5-8 hours. A few things that could be improved... I was told the sales pitch would be an hour, it took three. Just be upfront about the time commitment. Carl didn't need to sell nearly as hard as he did; we were convinced early on by the product; let the product shine. There was a big focus on how clean and tidy installation would be, but installation was not as meticulous as shown in the video. Finally, get clear communications out to the entire team on custom drilling for door knockers. I would absolutely use them again to do my windows, but only during a sale because their great products are expensive. read more

Thompson Creek replaced all our windows. We could not be happier with the windows or the experience working with them. They are far better quality than the supposedly upscale windows installed when our house was built in 2000. Given a choice between these and Andersen windows, I'd choose these in a heartbeat. The biggest selling point for us was the thermal reflectivity of the glass. We saw an immediate drop in our late winter heating costs, and it is even more astonishing in summer. We have a morning room that gets the afternoon sun, and standing there in summer with the shades up used to be very uncomfortable. Now there is almost no direct heating from the sun at all. The price was not cheap, but it was still cheaper than other estimates we got. It did not happen with us, but a friend had the experience of them wanting to sell for a much higher price, then bargaining down to make the sale. We ended up paying something just under $800 per window, including replacing a full sliding back door. We have a 9' ceiling on the main floor, so the windows were large. Roughly equivalent windows at Home Depot are a bit more than we paid, but without installation. If you don't have a 9' ceiling or oversized windows, then I would expect you would get a lower price. That price included removal of all existing windows, cleaning up after, and making repairs where the existing installation could not be removed without damaging drywall. The only thing they could not do was touch up paint. For anything that was not to our satisfaction, they came back and took their time to make us happy. Everything was professional from beginning to end. Jason was the crew foreman, and took strong personal interest in getting everything just right. If you go with them, ask if he is available. They offered 18-month zero-interest financing through Green Sky, which we used, but one warning on that: If you are late in even a single payment, you get charged the full 24% interest from the beginning, according to the contract. It's a great way to save if you don't have the up-front cash, but be careful not to miss any payments. That's about Green Sky, btw, not Thompson Creek. If we ever need windows for another home, TC will be the very first place I go to. For the record, I have no relationship with Thompson Creek Windows, other than the work they did described here. I have not received any consideration of any kind for this review. read more

The year 2014, turned out to be an energy savings year for me thanks to Thompson Creek Window Company! My relationship with the company started in February and I completed my projects in early November! I have eleven windows and two sliding glass doors in my 23 year old townhouse and believe me, I could watch the curtains and drapes moving gracefully due to the drafts from the windows and sliding glass doors! A representative form Thompson Creek was in our neighborhood and I agreed to have someone come out and give me a quote. I started out with having three windows replaced and was amazed at the difference it made! I then made an appointment to have the other windows done. Later in the year, I received an email promotion from Thompson Creek and decided to have someone come out and provide me with an estimate for replacing my two sliding glass doors! I had the doors replaced and was amazed at how silent they were upon opening and closing and the best part was the drafts had disappeared! My experience with Thompson Creek was great from the beginning to the end! I found their customer service agents to be very courteous and friendly! The installations crews were very knowledgeable and took their time to explain what they were doing and why! The clean up after was excellent! I must confess that I had none of the experiences that some have listed in their reviews! I agree that Thompson Creek may not be the cheapest company around, but the product will speak for itself! We have many companies in the area advertising some really great prices for window replacement, but you really have to read the fine print! I have seen some with what I would categorize as "teaser" prices! After you read the fine print and find out that was your base price and you had to add additional funds to move up in grade! There were no hidden prices with Thompson Creek! Thompson Creek also offers a lifetime warranty on their windows and doors, and the warranty is transferable to a new homeowner should you decide to sell your home! Talk about a selling feature! I would definitely recommend Thompson Creek to friends and relatives! I have nothing but excellent service from them! They are my window and door company of choice! Thank you Thompson Creek! read more

Had 25 windows replaced in my home that was built in 1997 with poor quality builder grade windows, of which almost all of them had failed argon seals. The factory rep, Jeff Keiling, helped me save money by suggesting 1. turning two sets of side-by-side vertical windows into one big sliding window, turning four windows into two (and they look so much better) 2. replacing a regular window at the top of the foyer with a less expensive picture window (less material), since we've never even opened that window, because it's 15 feet in the air, and 3. ordering new windows without the grills that our original windows had. Not only did that cut costs because of reducing materials, the new windows without the grills look bigger and a hundred times cleaner, not to mention there's no view obstruction. Our house is quieter, better looking, and the HVAC runs about half as much as it used to with the original windows. Right now on 12/30/2017 at 7:15 PM, it's 24 degrees outside. It's 70 degrees inside and the furnace hasn't kicked on in a while. These new Thompson Creek windows are worth every penny and are the best investment and upgrade we've made to our home since buying it. I can't end this review without mentioning the Project Coordinator, Gare Smith, the service tech, Tim, and the installation team. They were top notch throughout the entire process. The installation team was fast, 23 windows in about 8 hours, including the lunch break. They didn't leave a mess, and they were all good dudes. When I decide to replace our doors, I'm requesting the same team. Gare Smith was quick to set up a service appointment when I reported a malfunctioning lock on one of the new windows and when I requested a screen upgrade. There was no waiting days or weeks for him to return my calls or set up a service appointment. Tim, came out to replace the malfunctioning lock and while he was at it, checked every lock and function of every single other new window in the house. Every person I've dealt with on the Thompson Creek team has been nothing less than a true professional in every aspect. I highly recommend them if your looking for new windows. read more

I recently had some significant and major exterior work done on my home by Thompson Creek. First off, I had not been aware that Thompson Creek could do work other than windows and so I was pleasantly surprised when, in the course of a neighborhood visit last fall, a Thompson Creek representative let me know they could help me with - at the time - quite visible, exterior deteriorization of my large front window and millwork. A Thompson Creek sales representative scheduled an appointment and came out to give me an estimate. The extent of the work I needed to have done was a bit more than I had anticipated but I never would have known that had I worked with another company that had given me a cost estimate for the project some weeks earlier. Because I had previously done business with Thompson Creek on two other occasions where I needed windows replaced, I was completely sold with their evaluation and estimate. I needed a complete replacement of the large arch window, the millwork trim as well as the front door. A major effort to say the least. The job required custom manufacture of not only the window but the millwork trim all the way around. The six weeks needed to custom make the replacement window and trim and order the door went by quickly. The Thompson Creek installation crew arrived as scheduled and on time. They were inconvenienced by some inclement weather on installation day, but they managed to accomplish prep work waiting for the rain to stop. Once they were able to begin they worked tirelessly to complete the job. It was an all day project for them and they were there for almost twelve hours but what a job they did! I couldn't be more pleased and once they finished, you would never even know they had been there - except for the new look on the front of my home. Whether it's a small window replacement or a major exterior overhaul, Thompson Creek can handle the job, reasonably, professionally and promptly. Everything Chris Core or anyone else who endorses these guys says is absolutely true. If you trust your job to Thompson Creek, you won't be sorry. read more

I'm not sure what others have been experiencing with Thompson Creek, but I can tell you that I've had nothing but exemplary service from them. We had 12 windows and two storm doors installed in 2009 in our home. We chose Thompson Creek after having 3 other estimates and salespeople show us their product. We were impressed with the window quality and the warranty offered. The installers were on time and I can't say enough about the craftsmanship! We've had no issues and the windows do exactly what was advertised. The company stands by its warranty (which is lifetime and conveys with the home if we decided to sell). We had one window that got damaged by my daughter and within a few days, the window was replaced without charge. We recently commissioned Thompson Creek to replace two patio sliders and a custom window (at no extra charge). Greg Martin was the salesperson and he was very friendly and professional. We did not feel pressured at all. We received a very good price, they gave my husband a military discount to honor his service, and again, the installers were on time and professional. We were so impressed the first time, that we were hoping to get the same installers. A different crew showed up and again the installation is seamless and perfect! Vince Daley who is the supervisor came in to check on the workmanship and was polite and very personable. While he was here, I showed him a small area on one of our storm doors (installed in 2009) where the paint was peeling. Within 15 minutes, we had an appointment to have another entire storm door installed-without charge. I simply cannot say enough good about the craftsmanship, quality, and professionalism I have encountered with Thompson Creek Window Company. They have been honest, fair, and the windows have saved me money on heating and air conditioning and have added beauty and value to our home. read more

This company is amazing! I got thompson creek gutters last year and I couldn't be happier. I found out about the company from my neighbor who replaced their gutters. They raved about how great a company they are so I decided to give them a try. From the very beginning of setting my appointment, the process was so simple. The representative asked me some questions about my current gutters and all the issues I was having with them. My old gutters were terrible so I couldn't wait to have thompson creek out to show me what they had to offer. I got an appointment set up right away for that weekend. The sales representative was ten minutes early! I was so surprised and delighted. Customer service is definitely a priority for this company. The salesman showed me the gutters, compared competitors and did measurements on my home. The double lifetime warranty is unbeatable!! I knew I wanted the gutters right away after the demonstration. I signed a contract and set up a measurement appointment for the following week. Before I knew it, the installers came to my home a few short weeks later, early again!!! They all worked so great together and got the job done in a few short hours. I was super impressed with their teamwork and how great they cleaned up when they were all done. You never would have known they were here! My coordinator called me after my project was done and I told her about the best customer service and experience I had with Thompson Creek. My two neighbors have stopped by to check out my new gutters and are getting their new gutters installed next week. This was the best home improvement experience I've ever had. It was just so easy and I love my new gutters. No more climbing up the ladder anymore. I would definitely recommend this company to all my friends and family. Thank you again for the wonderful job! I want to get my windows done next. read more

I'm surprised by some of the reviews - our salesman was far from high pressure; instead, he was informative, knowledgeable, and open to questions. Now, I had done comparative research beforehand, so perhaps I was better prepared - I had my questions lined up, and he answered all of them to my satisfaction. He also offered a discount if we gave him three referrals - no problem since the discount wasn't contingent on the referrals agreeing to a demonstration, simply a phone call. What really sold me was the guarantee - should the gutters ever clog (which, from every review about every system I've read, does inevitably happen), they would come out and clean them free of charge. My greatest concern, since my husband has had 2 ladder accidents, as well as 2 heart attacks, was that he would never have to climb a ladder again. I don't believe I've ever seen another company advertise this type of guarantee. The work itself was done professionally - it would have been completed in one day; however, one section of gutter was measured incorrectly so another crew of workers returned within a few days to complete the job. The company representatives have been very responsive to all my inquiries; when I had some difficulty obtaining a copy of my final paid invoice, a supervisor took it upon himself to ensure it was routed to me through the correct department. I have found all contact with the company to be pleasant, polite, and always with the greatest regard for customer satisfaction. The gutters themselves have functioned extremely well since we had them installed in November of 2011. Time will tell, of course, but I feel confident that Thompson Creek will stand behind their guarantees, and we will not have to worry about climbing ladders again. read more

We have been living in our home for about 5 years. It was bought as a foreclosure and a fix-it-upper. We knew at the time of purchase a full-set of windows would be one of renovation projects. This year we were finally in a position to get the work done, and after a few quotes were sold on Thompson Creek. The sales representative that initially came did an excellent job with presenting the pros-cons of their product vs. competitors. He took his time to answer all questions, had samples to demonstrate operation and was very knowledgeable with the entire product line. The key selling point was a single-stop shop for window fabrication, installation and warranty work. The work was scheduled for June 2014 and started on time. The team was very respectful of our home during the entire installation. They had to get into every room and were careful to ensure our belongings were protected with tarps and the like. I would say they left our house in cleaner condition than when they arrived, vacuuming and picking up after themselves. The old window removal was remarkably quick, done in just a few hours. The new windows and sliding glass door were all quickly installed, including caulking and molding all the needed custom aluminum caps on-site to form fit to our home. In total, 18 windows and a sliding glass door, done in one 11 hour work-day by 4 professionals. It has now been 5 months since the install, and we are very happy with our new windows and door. There was a noticeable improvement in the temperature of our home during the hot summer months. The daily fluctuations were significantly less, nights were warmer and days were cooler. We would highly recommend Thompson Creek and their team of professionals! Thank you Thompson Creek! read more

I had posted before was removed do not know why. THEY call me and just do not sell you the window but must install it. That where the true cost is in Labor 500% cost I can put the window in my self. My 7 window I installed 3 years ago they can see my workmen ship . I just need one more to complet my home in Manassas. 703-369-4671 Obtained an estimate and was very annoyed with how pushy the sales associate was. First, they INSIST that all homeowners be present during the visit. Well, we actually work so getting a time when two of us can be home during business hours is impossible. Second, the presentation was way too long. I don't need to see presentations. Just tell me about the product and show me a model. Third, and most importantly, the sales pressure was just nuts. I don't decide on ANYTHING on the spot, especially when the pricetag is $10k. The sales guy got really annoyed when I refused to sign a contract just minutes after providing the estimate. He kept asking what I was looking for. I explained that for any large project, we get three estimates. He then proceeded to tell me that getting three estimates was a useless, worthless practice! Seriously? I oversee large projects on a residential building and three estimates is standard industry practice. When I refused to sign a contract to start work, the sales guy got very rude and huffy. I asked if I could contact him with any questions, and he just said, "No. I'm done here. You have to call the main office." It was unreal. I definitely would not recommend this company. Any company that tries to get you to sign something on the spot without being given a chance to think about it is sketchy in my book. read more

My walkout basement glass-sliding door has needed replacement for years. The drafts from around the door, and through the single-pane, construction-grade door were brutal in the winter! Tiring of being cold every winter, I finally broke down and got estimates from companies for a replacement door. While a bit pushy, the high pressure sales technique from Thompson's representative was not too much. It's pretty much expected when soliciting price quotes from companies especially in these tough economic times. The sales rep was friendly, nice, and engaging. I've been extremely happy with my new Thompson basement sliding door. They gave a discount. The price was reasonable for a quality door that eliminated drafts. My house is no longer drafty. It is much warmer (a 4 degree temp increase), and the solid construction is of a great quality. On a side note, I am happy to have an outside lock on the door and an indoor floor lock now. lol. The installation crew was friendly, arrived on time, did a professional installation and clean up. They even repaired drywall around the door that had been damaged another time. They left my basement cleaner than when they arrived! Their project supervisor stopped by near the end of the job to review the install and answer any questions that I had. I've had some bad experiences in the home improvement arena over the years, but I've been very happy with my new door. My experience with Thompson Creek has been very favorable and I would use them again. If you are considering window and/or door improvements for your home, I recommend getting a quote from Thompson Creek. From my experience, I highly recommend their products and services. read more

I had an unbelievable service with Thompson Creek. I was shopping around for a storm and front door for my home. I did not know that Thompson Creek provides these services as well. I happened to cal to schedule an IN HOUSE appointment which is always nice and was surprised to know that someone could come out the same day. The representative who came was AMAZING. He really cares about me and my needs. He wasn't trying to push a sale, but was actually trying to find the best possible product for me and my family. He never attempted to slide in a few sales line. Everything was about me and my needs. He tried to stay within the budget I was looking for and was patient with me throughout the process, which was at least two hours long. Once I made my selection, an installer came to my home to get my precise measurements and was oh so friendly, and willing to help. He kept me in the loop of what was going on, and told me how long it'll be for my doors to be built according my its measurements. It took almost three weeks for the doors to arrive, but Thompson Creek continuously called me to let me know that everything was going accordingly. I never felt neglected during this time. When the doors were ready for installation, the professionalism and timeliness the installer had was incredible. He came exactly when he said he would, got both doors done in a very reasonable time and had a smile throughout the installation. I know I made a great choice going with Thompson a Creek. You can see how great the quality work is, and everyone is praising on how beautiful the doors look. Thank you Thompson Creek! I am a very pleased customer. read more

Our house was built in 1959, and was badly in need of upgrade. Three college educations had postponed a lot of vital work. We looked at a number of companies and settled on Thompson Creek because it was a local company, had its own permanent work crews, had a superior product, had a great reputation, and made us an excellent offer. We had our windows replaced in July 2011 and gutters and siding in May 2012. Thompson Creek also has an excellent warranty which they honor because it a point of pride to stand behind their work. The agent we dealt with was professional and laid out everything carefully for us. There was no hard sell as we experienced with other companies. He made excellent suggestions and kept in touch with us. Their work crews were very well-trained and did excellent work. They did not rush through the job, but took the appropriate time to do a careful, good job. They also did a thorough clean up job. There was one small adjustment to be made, and Thompson Creek had someone out immediately to take care of it. My wife just loves the windows; they are so easy to clean and look great. I am delighted because our new windows, gutters, and siding have dramatically improved the appearance and market value of our home. I have recommended Thompson Creek to my friends and colleagues without reservation. I wish all the big ticket purchases we have made could have been so satisyfing as our business with Thompson Creek. I cannot recommend them more highly. There is a saying that "Quality leaves no regrets." That certainly applies to service provided by Thompson Creek. read more

We moved into an old house in Rockville with original single pane aluminum frame windows from 1955 and decided to change them for security, energy, and sound proofing reasons. We quoted 5 companies for the same grade products; Lowe's Pella ($13,000), Home Depot Anderson ($14,500 but no carpentry), Window World ($14,900), Anderson Renewal ($15,800), and Thompson Creek ($16,500). We decided to use Thompson Creek even if they were higher. Because they make their windows, they use their own crew, and they have been in operation locally for over 30 years. The project includes 11 custom sized windows, one rough opening enlargement and one reduction, and a huge glass wall that we wanted to replace with two 92" wide custom sized patio doors (each about $4,000 ouch!!!). The project manager was here at the house when they started work to make sure they had everything. 4 out of the five installers spoke English and asked us questions to make sure they are building what we want on the first try. They installed flushing, expanding foam sealer, two different kinds of high quality caulk for trim and seal, recased the finished window, did window carpentry, even salvaged the siding from the enlargement to cover the window reduction. They finished all the windows and exterior in 11 straight hours and a lunch break, and they wrapped up with window cleaning, vacuuming, and drop cloth removal. They are true professionals who transformed my old house! i cant be happier with their craftsmanship!!!! read more

My husband and I decided to replace the windows in our home so we called Thompson Creek for an estimate. Their sales representative, Garland Tyree was very professional, he showed up on time, was well prepared and able to answer all our questions. He demonstrated the windows and walked us through the installation process never once pressuring us to buy. What sealed the deal for us was the superior quality of the windows. They are super energy efficient with glass that reflects the heat from the sun so your home stays cool. The screens are self-repairing which is a really nice feature. The lifetime warranty is the best we have ever seen, everything is covered even the caulking. On installation day the team showed up on time. These guys were good, very professional and fast. They replaced our windows in half of the quoted time. They were very respectful of our home leaving it clean both inside and out. The windows are beautiful you could instantly feel the temperature difference in the house the minute they were installed. I waited to write my review until I received my electric bill. I can honestly say my electric bill has been significantly reduced and my A/C doesn't have to run as long or hard to cool our house. We are looking forward to reduced heating bills and no more drafty windows this winter. So glad we called Thompson Creek. Highly recommend them to anyone looking to replace their windows. read more

We purchased a new Steel Entryway door with standard Schlage locks and a screen/glass Patio door to go on the outside. We had two other companies come to give us their pitch. In the end one bid was lower but I remembered TC said they would meet/beat/or match anyones price to a comparable offer. The Lower offer included what I considered to be a premium storm door that cost more that we initially were going for. All Products were Provia ( a Menonite/Amish Company, which is basically all that is offered in my area, unless you go to the big box stores), so we had an easy job comparing. All of the estimators were timely and I think honest nice gentleman. The following day I contacted Thompson Creek and said I have a lower bid but it was also for an upgraded storm door. He said hold on for a few minutes I will call back after speaking with his manager, A few minutes later he called and beat their price by $25.00, and sent me the new drawn up quote with the upgraded premium storm door. Tomorrow they will be out to do a final measurement. Hopefully I have picked the right company but will post before after pics and an updated review after the work was done. Just so you know the steel door, locks all keyed the same and premium storm door all came in for just over 4 thousand. I feel that all the estimates were good and they could have performed the work well, all were so close which made me feel good. read more

We had Thompson Creek replace the front door to the house. We contacted them based on the recommendation of a neighbor (who had a front door and patio door replaced). Their rep promptly contacted us, made an appointment and showed at the appointed time. She detailed our options, and we came up with a choice that met our needs and budget. At no time did we feel pressured or that we were being up-sold. They told us that they would be out in about 3 weeks to install the door and a date and time convenient to us was set up. A week before the scheduled installation, a rep from Thompson Creek called and said that there was a delay in getting materials and requested a delay of 2 days in the schedule. We agreed to the new date/time. Two days before the date we received a verification call confirming when the crew would show up. The installation crew showed up on-time. They did the installation in about 3 hours. When they were completed, the crew leader had us inspect the installation and approve the work. They had cleaned up the work site and the new door to the extent that one would not know that they had been there. We've had a number of projects done to our house over the 30+ years that we've lived here, and I would rank Thompson Creek I would rank them as one better contractors that we have dealt with. We are considering some other projects and we would use them again without hesitation. read more
