100% echo an earlier review that said the nail techs do an excellent job but unable to take constructive feedback and then refuse to take you in again (under various pretences / excuses) regardless of how much you compliment their work or tip well. I've been a customer for many years (always tipped well) and on a last visit back in early February 2024 kindly pointed out that one nail was shaped differently from the rest. To this, Angel got very defensive and even suggested I do my nails myself! Now when I called to make an appointment, they said "Oh, I remember you. Angel no longer does acrylic. It's gel only." After trying to get a walk-in appointment at several places on a Saturday, I called Thornhill Salon and was able to get in right away for a gel manicure. The salon is intimate and clean and is located on Thornhill Drive on a row of small shops and stores. Tu did my nails and she did an amazing job. She took her time and was extremely meticulous. Tu was warm and friendly. She also gave me an amazing shoulder and arm massage which almost put me to sleep. I like how they use the plastic clamps instead of the aluminum foil and the tools Tu used looked clean. The sample colors are in two folders and they have a nice selection. They also do beautiful nail art for an extra charge. I didn't feel rushed out which I appreciated as I can feel that way at some places. I would have given this 5 stars but the gel manicure is higher than most places I go to however the massage is a nice addition. I'll definitely be back. read more

They do such a good job here. Came for a gel manicure and a pedicure. I love how my nails came out. They did such a good job, the gel was thin on my nails. Some salons make the gel real thick. I'm going on week two and they still look fantastic. My pedicure was also great. The salon is clean, and their prices are really reasonable. I am so happy to have found this place, and will definitely make it my regular spot. The two ladies doing my nails were friendly, and I enjoyed chatting with them. Service was amazing and the quality was also just as good. I think the pricing is very affordable compared to other salons. I got an Ombré gel manicure for a total of $65 (before I tipped) - which I didn't think was bad at all. The staff were super friendly and my nail artist even gave me a shoulder massage while my nails were drying. Definitely recommend this salon for affordable and quality service. I will say that parking can be scarce although there is a small parking lot.. I personally didn't have trouble but throwing it out there. read more

Came back here for a mani & pedi with my sister and mom. We made appointments so we were attended to right away. I wanted gel french tips and there were so many fun colors that I wanted to try that it took me a while to decide. I picked a pink sparkly one and luckily my manicurist suggested to put a colored layer on the bottom so that the sparkles showed more. Nice to know that she was willing to take the time to put the extra coat on! I love that this place does only gel nails and not acrylic because its so quiet and fume-free! Really relaxing. First time to get my pedi here and it was very enjoyable! They scrubbed and massage my foot and calves. They took their time trimming my cuticles, my toes were so pretty afterwards!! While I was waiting for my toes to dry my calves were being massaged by the massage chairs they had. I also like how their tubs for soaking the feet were removable ones so that they can be removed for cleaning. I want to clarify from my last review that they definitely autoclave their tools, you can see their tools being autoclaved in plain sight! I kept my little filers and scrubbers! Yipiee! =) There was a lady next to me that had her whole set of gel nails done and decided she didn't like the color and they re-did it for her without any complaints! O.O You get a stamp for every $15 you spend, after 10 stamps you get a discount for your next visit...I think it was a free manicure but I forgot. Walk-ins are welcome as long as they can accommodate you, I saw a lady walk in and just ask for a same day appointment. The funny thing is that this nail shop and the salon techs work are to my high standards, which are very high. But they are lacking in integrity and the ability to take constructive criticism. However, no matter how much I compliment them lately, they recently refused to service me with passive-aggressive behavior after I provided constructive criticism about how my nail was repaired. They did an excellent job correcting the problem, and each time I pay, I tip them. Several weeks after that appt, when I provided constructive feedback, I called and tried to make an appt. At first, one of the nail techs said yes, and then I heard this scrambling and whispering, and suddenly she switched to saying there were no appointments that day, and they were busy all week. Something seemed odd, so I had my sister call from her phone, and she got an appointment. I showed up for the appointment, and Angel and her sister looked surprised to see me. I said that I had an appt with Angel at 12:30, and the other sister said to me, "You were not happy with your nail last time" I said that I was pleased with the job they did, and that Is why I returned. They did my nails and did a good job. I paid them and gave them a tip. Well, this morning, two weeks later, I tried to make an appointment, and they did the same run around to me, but when my neighbor called to get an appointment, she got one right away. My neighbor is white, and I am Black. I have always been friendly and respectful and always tip. So now I'm wondering if I'm being discriminated against. This is a shameful way to treat a good customer. I have recommended this salon to many folks, but now it is an integrity issue. Luckily the bay area has no shortage of great nail tech. read more

Got there at 4 for an appointment and the person said I should come earlier in the day bc it's better for them and made it seem like I was an inconvenience, even though they close at 6:30. I told her I have work and can't come in earlier than 4 so I asked if I should come in on the weekend instead and she said not to come on the weekends because they're busy. When am I supposed to come then? I just got a full set acrylic and she charged me $90, and she didn't even use gel powder, just clear acrylic powder and nail polish. There's no reason that a full set should be $90 unless there's nail art or something special about them, they're extremely basic. read more

Not coming back. Charged me twice. I went in just to get my acrylics taken off whch costs $10 but my nails were too weak to get a manicure so she charged me $16 to come in after a couple weeks. But when I went in, they charged me again as if it was a second manicure. I think that's overcharging. If I had known they were going to charge again I would not have come back. I'm not coming back but if I were I'd ask for a special note or something saying I already prepaid. read more

I have been to so many nail salons in my lifetime and I can say with confidence that it is tricky business trying to find a trustworthy nail salon that does great work at reasonable prices. They are out there, you just have to find them! The PROS: - Thornhill Salon is clean, clean, CLEAN! They use tubs of water with liners for soaking your feet instead of those massage chair/spa tubs that have the questionable drains. The instruments are sterilized and what is not sterilized is disposable (and you get to take home the disposable items if you wish). -The atmosphere is pleasant and the staff members are all friendly. The owner works here with the rest of the staff and they all have a passion for beautiful, healthy nails. Every one of them is a pleasure to work with. They keep the conversation with themselves to a minimum and I have never felt unattended to in this salon. They also work hard to get to know their regulars. -They do beautiful work on nails. In experiences elsewhere I sometimes found myself wondering why I paid money to have my nails done because I was sure I could have done a better job myself. Not here. They have always done meticulous work on my nails at this salon. I love leaving with pristine, glistening nails! -Thornhill Salon has many different types of gel polish (Gelish is my favorite) and they are experts at applying and removing it. I absolutely L O V E having a gel manicure that dries before I leave the salon and lasts beautifully for two to three weeks. (BTW if you have not tried gel polish yet... you WILL get addicted. It is that great) The CONS: -This is a popular salon so an appointment is recommended. Sometimes I feel that they try too hard to make everyone happy and squeeze people in when in reality they don't have enough time. As someone who has made an appointment days in advance only to have someone rush my mani/pedi and do less than perfect work due to this I am not pleased. -The massage portion at this salon is minimal and fluctuates on how busy the salon is. If it is a very busy day there is almost no massage at all. If it is a slow day you will get a massage though not a great one. The reason I come to this salon is because it is clean and they provide me with gorgeous nails. If I am looking for a relaxing massage I go elsewhere. read more

Came in today (Saturday) at 10:14 am. They open at 10 am & there is one customer & 3 women working. Its a cute little place. Small parking lot in front with a few stores close by. A coffee house next door & 7 Eleven across the street. There are 2 manicure tables, 5 human touch pedicure chairs, 1 couch, 1 small room for waxing, a LCD tv & music playing. I am greeted right away & i say i want a mani/pedi so the lady looks at her appt book & she says ok go ahead & pick a color. They have plenty of choice Opi colors to choose from. Some new colors too. I got my pedi done first while the other 2 ladies worked on the first customer. I got a scrub on my feet which was nice. Then the other lady worked on my hands. The mani & pedi cost $35 read more

Had to check this place out since it had rave reviews. Definitely worth it! They took the time to give me an awesome pedicure. I wasn't rushed at all. After my pedi they worked on my mani. They didnt do them all at once which I dont particularly like only because I like to read my magazine and just relax while my feet are being worked on, not having to have my hands tied up was awesome.
