The value and selection is more than okay, but the service was absolutely HORRID. i ask where a product is and all i get it a "7". no "aisle 7" or even a glance in my direction. just mid conversation and lightly says 7 to me. like at least have the decency to look at me. after coming back up to the counter to purchase the item i needed, the guy in green with the beard just simply sounded like he hated his job and his life. his vocal aura just made the whole interaction feel so bland and boring. have a little life, it's a nice day. just because your day is not perfect, doesn't mean you should spread that energy; especially to your customers whilst being a retail worker. Will not return, as if that means anything to a big store like this one, but i'd rather shop somewhere where the workers are pleasant to talk to, maybe even a bit personable if it's not too much to ask. read more

I have used Thornridge Ace in the past -- several times. Every single time the older gentlemen (who are apparently the owners) are impatient and rude. Previously I was not able to order paint online and pay. However, this time I checked and the website indicated I could select the type of paint and color, pay online and I would be emailed when product was ready for pickup...which I did. I received an email shortly after placing the order. That email read "YOUR ORDER IS READY FOR PICKUP". Now, I know what that means but it appears Thornridge Ace does not. I drove to the store -- and by the way -- I chose this store because it is much closer to my home than other stores. In the past, I would order online from Ricciardi Brothers in Fairless Hills, because I can order & pay online and then just go in and my paint is ready TO BE PICKED UP. Anyway, I arrive at Thornridge and show the gentleman behind the checkout counter the email with my name and order number, which clearly indicates my order is ready to be picked up. He snarls that it is not ready -- and then goes to the paint center, spends three or four minutes trying to look up the order and then a young man says he has the order. To my surprise, instead of handing me the mixed quart of paint, the young man goes back to another area of the store, comes back with a quart of paint and then has to put the paint into the color distributor -- then put the can in the 'mixer'. At this point I have been in the store for over 12 minutes. I say to the older gentleman that I was surprised the paint wasn't ready and he snaps "well, what if you didn't come to get it" and walks away. WHAT? WHAT?? WHAT?????? The paint HAS BEEN PAID FOR -- YOU SOLD THE CAN OF PAINT. Who cares if I don't come in -- are you kidding me? So, after the young man mixes my paint and hands it to me I politely say to him all of the above. I was very nice about it, but said this situation was so badly handled that I could have driven back and forth to Ricciardi's three times for the amount of time it took me in Thornridge. He also said "well, if people don't come to pick up their paint, then we're stuck with it". I said - "BUT IT'S PAID FOR -- YOU MADE THE SALE!!!!!! Oh, and by the way, if people don't come and pick up their custom mixed cans of paint -- you can call Restore to give them a donation of paint and they will send someone over to pick up the paid for paint so they can offer it to their customers". I will never ever go back to Thornridge. They seem to have completely forgotten that they are a local retailer -- and in today's marketplace, the little retailers are struggling against all the big box stores (whose customer service is far superior!!!). Customers are your lifeline. It's a shame this is no longer important to you. And one more thing -- I will be posting this review on Google & Yelp -- where there are many other negative reviews about unfortunate and completely unacceptable interactions with the owner(s) of this store. went to Ace looking for a key fob battery. the short guy with dark hair and beard was so rude to me. I don't know if was because they were closing soon but I asked if they carried batteries and he responded only if you know what kind then I asked if he knew how to open the fob so I can see the type of battery and he said no we can't touch it. This individual is always so unwelcoming and rude when I go in there which isn't often. this was one of the worst experiences ever and the other guys at Ace are normally nice. I really wish I got his name and I would have mentioned it on here. Kindness goes a long way sir especially when someone was already having a bad day! read more

It's a few pennies more than the big warehouse-like chains. But for most things, it's worth it. The walk from my care is brief to what I want. I don't have to pack a lunch and water bottle to find what I want. The staff are knowledgeable and at hand. Help and advice are st hand. A few pennies more but easier help and shorter shopping (respect for my time). Shopping for the right bulb or screw shouldn't be work. In and out is good. read more

4.5 The only thing keeping them from a 5 is prices, which frankly im willing to pay for the convenience of finding almost everything i need there in one trip. The sales are great. The birdseed is often on sale and when itt is cannot be gotten cheaper anywhere. Staff friendly and attentive and helpful . read more

I won't shop here again. I picked an item from the shelves after doing routine price and feature comparison, i.e. shopping. It rang up for $3.00 more than the hang tag on the shelf indicated, so I went back to the display, confirmed the price and told to the cashier that there was nothing on display for $27.00. Instead of re-confirming the price, he said "Well that's what it rang up for". I had someone waiting in an idling car, so I paid his price and resolved to shop elsewhere. I am still irritated an hour later, so I wrote this consumer warning. read more

I am so glad that there is still a local hardware store in the area. You walk in, and a staff member asks if you need help. Most of the time - I do! They lead you right to what you need - and if you are not sure about what product is right for the job you have in mind, they help you select the appropriate product. First let me say I probably should have waited a bit before writing this but I was so irritated by what occurred I need to share. I have been dealing with this store longer than I can remember. I generally find what I need and get very good service, not this time. I was in looking for a plumbing part but remembered I had a blank key that needed to be cut. The gentleman was very helpful, said he would cut the key and advised me of other related products that I may be interested in. I wasn't able to match up the other part I needed so went to pay for the key. At the register I'm told $10.60 + tax = $11.00 to cut a blank I supplied. When I questioned the price I was told it was a "chip" key (which takes far more skill to cut than a regular key, it doesn't) So I asked again why so much for a chip key I supplied, he said, "and because you didn't buy it here". Had I been told in advance it was going to be that expensive I would have gone to one of the other local stores and had it cut for under $2.00 like I've done before, but I was already at ACE and prefer dealing with the "neighborhood" stores. It probably sounds trivial but after that I don't think I'll be returning. It's really true how one bad experience can overshadow many good ones. I suppose I was lucky not finding the other part because the faucet was from a friend's house and they probably didn't buy it there; imagine what the bill would have been then . . . read more

john and his staff are always knowledgible and well stocked for items, i hate going to the big box stores and john always makes you feel right at home, they have never failed me and i plan on going there when i need hardware or other things, great store, great people read more

Always helpful and friendly. They generally have everything I need in a pinch, and their selection of nuts and bolts is way better than H D. I don't mind paying just a tad more to support a small business read more
