Ribs were dry dry dry. If you are going to get prime rib ask for it to be cooked one step past your normal. I ordered medium rare and it came kicking. Maybe Thorny's is a different experience from time to time... the time I went to dinner with my man was superb. Everything was just delicious. We got the steaks and ribs plate with the tri-fries... which are 3 different kinds of fries: waffle, wedge, and curly fries. The fries I didn't care for much because I like shoestring fries, but I can definitely see the appeal for others. Variety is always a good thing. Our steaks were perfectly cooked and the ribs fell off the bone. The coleslaw was tangy and crunchy. We were seated in a booth which was comfortable and intimate. Our server was friendly and attentive. Really you can't ask for much more from a restaurant. Great time. read more

I will start off by saying the waitress was excellent! The buffalo shrimp were awesome! Now, the 48 hour marinated Ribeye was definitely NOT a ribeye, the marinade flavor was wonderful however if you don't wish to pay Ribeye price for a sirloin do NOT order it. When I very nicely brought it to the managers attention he told me I was wrong and tried to argue with me about it. If you love dining with roaches, this is the place for you! I chose this place because it used to be clean with tasty food. However, as I ate my appetizer, I discovered a roach had crawled up on top of the table and began crawling on my silverware. I killed it and decided to move tables and give it a second try. Maybe it was just THAT booth. The food came out, which was insect free and mediocre at best. As I was finishing my steak, I discovered A SECOND roach crawled on the table for my leftovers. It was NOT even afraid of daylight and seemed shocked I had encroached on its habitat. The server and host apologized and did NOT seem surprised at my discovery. I left the dead insects on the tables to show the employees. Management was nowhere in sight and never visited my table to address this situation. Never in my life will I return to eat here. Visited Thorny's this past week well visiting myrtle beach and it was probably our favorite restaurant. We had 8 people and were seated in a reasonable time, food and appetizers came out quick, everything was hot and had great taste! Will definitely be back on our next visit. read more

I was happy to see that a full service restaurant was open Christmas day. I have eaten at this spot before with ok results but today was just BAD. The place was very busy and being alone I decided to sit at the bar. The bartender was totally overwhelmed . The bar was busy with no one helping the bartender at all. He forgot several requests so I just stopped asking. The couple next to me were not happy with the service either. I ordered Prime rib as rare as they could serve it. I requested a stuffed baked potato as my side. The Prime Rib was dry and chewy.I suspect that the prime rib had been sitting under a heat lamp for quite a while. The meat was not the least bit moist or tender. I requested aju and horseradish.The Aju was ok but the horse radish had no bite or taste. I ate enough to feel full but not satisfied. The bartender forgot several things and the couple next to me were not happy campers. I would recommend more staff behind the bar and fresher prime rib and overall more organized service...on the up side the tea was good! read more

Me and my husband have passed by Thorny's many times. He's had many people tell him to go and I'm glad we finally did!!! We both had the Hawaiian Steak and it was "THE BEST STEAK WE HAVE EVER HAD". The prices were very reasonable and Not only was the steak delicious but the service was AMAZING. I had the clam chowder, baked potato, and sirloin & shrimp combo. The shrimp and soup were good. My steak came out extremely over cooked (charcoaled instead of medium) and the potato tasted gritty. Our server quickly had my steak replaced and a manager brought it to our table. Second time around it looked better but I packed it up to go home at that point. Table of 10 just walked out after sitting 20 minutes with no acknowledgement. Greeters got irritated because we refused to sit in booths and split the group so they just ignored us after we were seated until we finally left. When I was told by the irritated greeter we would have to wait 30 minutes for a table we happily agreed to it and after she huffed and pouted we were seated next to TWO tables of 20 within 5 minutes. It was obvious they could accommodate us, they just didn't want to. If you don't want to take tables that big it's totally fine, we offered to leave, just say it so we can move on. Decided to try this place on a whim for dinner. The restaurant sign on the bldg says its a steakhouse. I think they should take that sign down...lol. Even our waitress told us they've morphed over the years and are now more of a ribs & burger joint known for their pork ribs. That tidbit of info should've discouraged me from ordering the sirloin (6 oz) and shrimp combo dinner. The dinner rolls with honey butter were pretty tasty - my kids are those up! My hubby ended up ordering the same dinner combo, though he ordered his steak medium well. Mine was medium. Our steaks looked totally different - hubby's was thinner while mine was thicker. Waitress said the steaks shrink more the longer it's cooked. I guess that makes sense; I have no clue, I'm no steak connoisseur. Steak needed seasoning. The side of coleslaw tasted bland. This place was just HORRIBLE! The only reason why we decided to stop by at this "Sports Bar" was because of the reviews. First off this place was old, the servers were rude, food specials are not available if you sit in the dining area (apparently you have to sit at the bar), there's several bums outside this facility. My experience started as soon as I put my car in park. There was a lady in a wheelchair knocking on my window asking me to roll down my window. I asked her what was it that she needed and she said money. Since I didn't roll my window down and give her any money she cursed me out and left. It made me feel so uncomfortable, so I decided to go park on the other side of the parking lot. Thinking to myself it's closer to the entrance door, so she shouldn't be there. Well,I was wrong she was harassing another family for money that were walking out from the restaurant. I just don't think that's right, I'm there to enjoy my time not to feel harassed by somebody. Anyways, let's talk about their wing special. They advertised for $0.50 wings so when I asked if I can get the $0.50 wings special the server said that is only in the bar area. So I asked her if we could move to the bar area being that we were going to order wings to watch the game. She said the host will be back shortly to move you guys over to the bar area. We get seated and of course it's another server, who by the way had an attitude the whole time. So, I told her we're going to order the $0.50 wings and gave her our drink order. She immediately said it's ONLY after 4pm and you have to sit at the bar. So, I tell her we were just sitting on the other side of the restaurant and they told us that we needed to sit in the bar area for that special. In regards to the special only being valid after 4p.m., its 3:57 p.m. All she said was "well I've been here all day, so I don't even know what time it is" again with an attitude. Stopped in Myrtle Beach location tonight. It was totally dead. No one to greet us at the door. The bartender yelled from the bar that someone would be right with us. Looked like the mgr came to seat us. We got sat near the back... server was ok. Food was not good. Burger dry and bun not toasted. I spilled my ranch, asked for napkins from the server but she never offered to help getting it clean. Then never picked up the dirty napkins up until the end of the meal. As we left the mgr and server were leaning on the host stand playing with their phones. We got all the way to the door and the mgr quietly said thanks for coming in. Will not be back. read more

Next I ordered an appetizer of the Buffalo shrimp...big mistake. I usually really like things like this but I was so disappointed in this dish, I would never order again. The breading on the shrimp was awful, I ended up peeling it off just to see if the shrimp were any better plain. Sadly it was just a poorly made dish and for $9, I was unhappy. Next, for my main course, I had ordered a half slab of ribs with a side of sweet potato fries. To my surprise these both tasted great. I was concerned when I first saw the fries, they looked so burnt and I was about to be really annoyed with that. However they weren't burnt at all and tasted great. Had some cinnamon sugar sprinkled on top and a nice crisp to them. The ribs were good too! Not too sweet but flavorful and lots of meat on the rib. The meal seemed to turn around for me at that point. I walked out full and much happier than in the beginning. My total bill was $30 but woulda only been $21 had I known to skip the shrimp. Very disappointed. Ordered a chicken sandwich and it came on a dry, hard bun with about 4 wings on it. The wings barely had any sauce on them and the chicken was extremely dry. I am very upset that my partner and myself spent $50 on something like that. Also, when we got home we both had terrible stomach aches.
